Scared but we Fight

Another few days passed and the Walters had been invited over for dinner to the O'neils. After everyone had their fill, Callaby had ended up hanging out with April in her room. They sat by her window, not bothering to stand outside on the fire escape. Since April had missed pats of the story telling, April had urged her to tell her. When she got to the Detectives, April asked, "And so was the whole case about Hamato being 'kidnapped' on the news?"

"Well, we haven't gotten to that part yet, but i can tell you i only ever saw it once on TV and then they went on to talking about other important matters."

"Well at least officer Aleck was there wanting to help." April sighed and said, "I wish i was there though."

"What? To help us in finding Splinter?"

"Oh well, i guess we could have wish to been there and helped. I was talking about hearing that part of the story with you guys."

"Yeah, sorry about that. I really wasn't good at explaining Splinters part, was I?"

"No you were fine, I'm just saying that it's kind of weird not hanging out with the guys as often as i did before."

"Well, everyone's been asking for you, even Donnie. Why don't you just come on over?"

"Well i can't, I've been taking care of my dad. He's been acting weird for a while now."

"Really? How weird is weird?"

"Well, first, he won't tell me what's bothering him. Second, he doesn't let me out of the house on my own anymore."

"Maybe he's just keeping you safe. He's worried for you."

"Well the Kraang were defeated and there hasn't been a sign of the Foot clan in over a month. How am I not safe anymore?"

"Maybe it's just the calm before the storm."

"It's just my dad being paranoid." Callaby looked out the window into the night sky, going into thought about what April said. Hopefully her kid would be more understanding then April at the moment. Speaking of which... "So." April began to say. "What are you going to name her?"

"Well Treelore had a few good ideas. He's into the B names like Beatrice and Belle."

"And what about you?"

"Me? Well, I like to keep my family tradition on names. Names that sound very unique. Names that you don't hear very often."

April smiled, "So were you personally responsible for naming the turtles after famous artists?"

"No, it was Splinter who thought of it. I didn't know why though until a little later why he named them like that."

"Why?"

"I can't tell you, you have to wait."

April scuffed, "Monkey feathers." The girls giggled for a while then went out to watching the dark streets down below. Callaby looked down to the bump on her stomach, now having grown larger in the past three weeks. April looked at Cally who had a blank expression on her face. The red haired girl decided to get back to talking, "What was my mother like to you? What made you guys good friends?"

"Even though she didn't believe me about the monster and other out of the world things, she was a listener. When i talked about your mom to the boys it didn't seem so, but in truth she really was good at taking time to talk to me. She was outgoing, but careful. I remember actually that her favorite season was spring so whenever it was around march she would start picking out flowers to decorate that old house you guys lived in before. But her favorite month was April because the snow was completely gone by then and the flowers were in full bloom. I guess that's why she named you that way."

April sighed, "Yeah, i remember."

"What am I going to do?" Kirby said, "The more i keep getting these nightmares, the more i feel scared for April. And the more that happens the more she gets annoyed at me."

Treelore, who was sitting at the opposite side of the table said, "I'm not even at this stage yet, man. But if there is one thing I've learned from my mom, the truth sets you free. Tell her what you went through while held by the Kraang. You don't want her to go through solitude like that right?" Kirby nodded. "Exactly. Also, I would tell her about the nightmares. If she hears you screaming again in the middle of the night, she's not going to believe the stubbed-toe excuse for a second time."

"You understand a lot more about parenting then you let on, Treelore." Kirby took a sip of his drink and so did Treelore.

The younger man put his cup down first and said, "Nah, I'm just winging it. But hope I can be prepared for when the baby comes."

"You will be no worries."

"How can you say that after what you just went through?"

"I'm talking about you Treelore. Some parents are more ready than others. Heck, I wasn't the day Bonnie told me she was pregnant."

"You had a mini panic attack?"

"Yep."

"I hear you." They again took a sip of their drinks.

"But in the end." Kirby continued, "You end up even surprising yourself about how much of a great father you are. I've had a lot of moments like that, especially after Bon died."

"So your saying, no matter what, instinct will always kick in."

"Well of course, it's like um…. Well I can't believe I'm using this for an analogy but…..we've got to be like ninja's."

"Really?" Treelore laughed.

"Now don't lose me hear buddy," Kirby said trying not to smile, "Let me finish. Ninja's are always ready, on their toes. One small wrong move may seem like the end but in fact it really isn't. One hit and you go down but not so far that you can't get back up. You just get on your feet again. So all you have to do is try, Treelore, and you'll be a hero to your daughter."

Treelore nodded, deeply thinking on what Kirby just said. Then he had a bad feeling and he sighed, "Oh, shit."

"What?"

"We left two female ninja's on their own."

Kirby's eyes widened and then the two men got up quickly from their chairs, leaving the dinner table and going down to April's room. Kirby knocked on the door, "April?" There was no response. Kirby opened the door quickly and marched into her room in haste. They saw the window to the balcony open so Treelore and Kirby went up to it. What they saw almost made both on them fall to the ground from a heart attack. April was hanging from the railing of the balcony upside down, he legs around the metals bars to keep her from falling. Callaby was just sitting on the railing and leaning over, looking down at the street under them. The two girls were laughing and joking about something. Treelore said to Kirby next to him, "I don't think I should be worried about the baby, I think I should be worried about my wife."

"Usually I would say at times you can count on Cally to help you out with your kid…..but this is not going to prove my point."

The next night, Callaby decided to take the open route to Lair. Treelore wasn't going to come with her this time due to work, so she brought her weapon just in case she ran into trouble. Since she was going to walk out with her bow and arrow, she knew she couldn't go walking out in the big streets where tons of people were. Cally took smaller, lesser used avenue's to get to the sewer. She had on a hoodie jacket so that if she passed by some thug, they wouldn't want to mess with her. It used to work in L.A all the time, but she had no clue how much things had changed around here. For all she knew, wearing her hoodie up might attract attention. Cally decided it was best to pull down the hood, she didn't want anybody passing her to get suspicious.

She stopped in front of an alley and looked around. It was surprisingly quiet. There was no one around. "Weird." Cally said, "Ok so if i make right around here i could just-"

Suddenly she felt huge, strong, and furry arms grab her from behind. One big one went around her chest and holding her arms down to her side while and the other one went around her mouth to keep her from screaming. Cally tried to thrash at her captor by kicking her legs out but it wasn't doing any good as she was being pulled into the darkness of the alley. She looked at the corner of her eye to see what had got her and she was shocked to see a huge furry face and with the help of the little light around her, a dog's muzzle.

Cally wondered, was this a mutant? She then heard coming from her attacker, a gruff voice say, "Hah! Piece of cake." A mutant who could talk, Cally concluded. "See Xever, we'll be right back on top again."

Appearing in front of Callaby was another mutant. A huge purple fish with robot legs for feet. There was some sort of a small liquid tank attached to his back and an orange cord that was attached to where his gills should be. Cally guessed that even though this fish walked on land, he still couldn't breathe out of water. In a rich, Spanish accent, the fish said, "The boss will smile at our accomplishment, then again we wouldn't know with that mask on."

Cally raised an eyebrow. Who were these guys? What did they want with her? Who was their boss? Cally began to struggle again but the dog made his grip on her grow tighter, making it hard to breath. He said, "Hey, no fighting back or we'll have to take you in the hard way."

"He said to keep her alive, Bradford, so that we could ask her questions."

"Yeah, yeah," the dog mutant, Bradford, let go of his grip around her mouth but still held on to her from her chest. Cally took in a breath of fresh air that she hadn't been able to get before.

"All right then, miss." The fish man Xever said pulling out a knife and holding it to point at her. "As man dog here said, don't fight, and just make it easier for yourself." Bradford gave an angry growl at what his partner called him. Xever ignored it and continued. "Our first question is who are you?"

Callaby eyes darted around trying to find an escape route, but the only way she was from the entrance of the alley to the street, right behind Xever. She knew of one way to get around, but now she had to think about getting away from Bradford's hold on her. She had an idea as she got a look of the knife, but it would be risky. Very risky. Callaby answered, "Why should i answer to you guys. I've learned that it's a bit dangerous to talk to strangers."

"Well if you answer our questions I'm sure we will get quite acquainted." Callaby wasn't getting the reaction she needed. She had to have him get angry or shocked, something to make him lower the blade. "Fat chance on getting anything out of me, you tuna."

Bradford began to laugh, "That's a new one."

Xever sneered and his yellow eyes showed malice towards the man dog, "Shut up, rich boy." He didn't notice but his hand had lowered from pointing at Callaby's neck to pointing down at her abdomen. Cally panicked for half a second, knowing that if she made him angrier, he would just stab her right there. Then she realized he put the knife lower, and that's just what she needed.

Cally kicked her feet up so that it hit Xever's hand and he lost his grip on his knife. As he was distracted by watching his weapon fly in the air, she kicked him really hard in the face, making him step back, trip and fall. Then with the back of her head she hit Bradford in the face, only making him dazed and just loosen a little his grip. It was enough for Cally to pull her hands through and hoist herself up higher and look to see the blade finally coming down. She grabbed it from the small hilt in midair and swung her arm around. She jabbed the knife into Bradford's muzzle and he yelled out in pain. As he let go of her, Cally grabbed his shoulder and swung herself around so that she was on his back. She saw Xever get up and charge to them so Cally jumped off of Bradford by kicking her feet on his back. The dog mutant went forward from the force he and Xever tumbled into each other, Bradford landing on top of him.

Callaby cheered but then realized that she had jumped away from the entrance of the alley. Her escape route was on the other side, behind the mutants. Cally gulped, knowing there was only one way to go now. She turned and ran as fast as she could deep into the alley way hoping there was another way out of this maze. As she ran through the darkness she heard Bradford scream, "I don't care what he says, I'm going to kill that little bitch when I find her." Cally was in trouble now. She didn't look back to see if they were following her but she knew they were so she kept going, making turns in different alley's to outrun and confuse them. Cally stopped in front of one when she saw, tangled on a pile, was a long, thick metal chain.

Bradford came down charging through the dark and musty streets in anger. Only a little bit of blood dripped from his wounded muzzle as he ran. Even though it was a little bit in pain, he still managed to use his nose to track her scent and the trail was getting fresher and closer. He smiled when he got to the freshest spot which was in the middle of a small intersection between four alley routes. He sniffed around but the trail was odd. It seemed as if she was….over him. Bradford looked up in time to see a large chain come out and wrap around his mouth, clamming it shut. He stepped back several feet and threw his head back, making whoever was at the other end fly out, still holding on to their end.

Callaby landed hard on her back but held on to the chain as she looked up at the mutant dog as he tried to pull the chain off his muzzle but couldn't due to how tight it was. Then he looked down at Callaby and his red eyes blazed with fury. Cally rolled away as his abnormally larger hand came down to smash her. She went behind him and then whipped the chain so it made a loop. She then pulled it when the loop went around his big arm and Chris's eyes widened as Cally crossed in front of him in a flash. With her chain his arm was pulled around and pinned to his other side. He tried to grab at her with his free arm as she climbed on his back but he couldn't reach due to his massive size. When his free hand got close to her Cally said, "Thank You" tied that hand and then with the last bit of chain she jabbed a ring into one of the many sharp bones that stuck out of his skin. She jumped off him and watched as he struggle to free himself from the chain that was tied all around him and then fall on his face as he went off balance. Cally had a small chance to feel victory until she heard the sound of clinging metal.

She turned only to see a metal foot fly out and hit her in the face. Her back slid on the ground until she rolled into a kneeling position. She looked up and saw Xever jump up high in the air and then come down with his foot aiming to smash her to the ground. She ducked and rolled away and then stood up. Cally got into a ready stance when Xever landed and then swung his other foot to hit her again. She side stepped and land at his side so when Xever hit empty air, he swung his foot down to where she landed. Again, she avoided it by jumping back and dodging. As he kept attacking her and she kept avoiding him, she noticed the way he was fighting. Even though he did try to throw a punch a few times, most of his fighting style consisted of using his feet, a style Cally was familiar with after visiting Brazil a couple of times. Cally remembered the weakness of every Caopara fighter was their feet. Since the fish man's legs were robotic, it looked like he wouldn't be immense pain when wen she did what she was about to do.

Callaby pulled out her bow and arrow and got it ready as she dodged another attack. She stood facing Xever as he turned around to look at her and Cally waited for his next move. He kicked his foot out again and Cally did a 360 to avoid it. Then she jumped up, landed on his face and then kicked herself up so that she did a back flip in the air. As she got to facing him, she pulled back her bow, aimed at what looked like a weak spot in the metal, and fired. She landed on the ground in a crouch as she heard the crash of metal and the sound of static. She looked up and saw Xever looked down at his right robot leg where the arrow was jabbed on to the thigh. A little spark was coming from it, but since there wasn't much damage Xever began to laugh menacingly. "I can't tell if it's a miss or not, but either way, your little attack- uh!" His right foot then began to twitch and Xever tried to control it while holding it but there wasn't any use. He began to hop around trying to keep his balance while trying to hold on to his twitching leg. Xever was so distracted by his uncontrollable leg that he didn't notice Cally escape until Bradford yelled, "Hey! There she goes, there she goes!"

Cally found a nearby hallway thankfully with a manhole cover. She quickly picked up the lid, went in, closed the cover, and safely climbed down the ladder. She went back to back with the wall and waited there for a minute or two. When she heard nothing, she sighed and then rubbed her stomach, "Sorry, honey, I didn't mean to do all that fighting, but what was I supposed to do?"

A.N: I really like writing about worried parents, it gives me feels. Le GASP! Callaby just got attacked by the Foot, but she doesn't know it! But her bad assery won her a day…for now…and now I'm getting death glares….*steps back into the shadows* Oh, I've been waiting to write some action and there is more to come. I'm KikaKatTIOI, peace put!
