Hi again! I'm sorry I took so long again. It seems that I've forgotten how long it's been since I've updated. Unfortunately, this means that I'm behind on my updating schedule again. In other news, Metamorphosis is going on a brief hiatus until I can decide where I'm taking the story. Kinda like I did for The Remaining Enemy a while back. I mean, I have the story, just not the fillers. Or the ending. Whoops :/

Thank you TheAnnieEllison for following and Gabby Delacour for reviewing! Ps Gabby, Rose will have a small role in chapter 40, in case you're wondering ;)

Disclaimer: I do not own The Hunger Games or anything else I may mention.

Chapter 29: Going Home

I sigh and board the train to District 4. I'm really going home now. Back to my parents, Attina, Annie, Caspian, and my cousins. And my aunt and uncle. I almost forgot about them, to be honest. That's just the thing about family. Even though you forget about them sometimes, if you're lucky they'll still be there for you. Or maybe that's just me being optimistic.

"You okay Finnick?" Ariel asks.

"No, but I guess I will be. I just… need some time."

"Right. We all do. You'll be fine," Ariel promises. "In the meantime, I'd be glad to give you the tour of Victors' Village. If we're gonna be neighbors, I might as well get to know you."

"Okay," I shrug. "I didn't think it was big enough to need a tour, though."

"I guess it isn't," Ariel says. "All of the houses are set up the same, but I think you'd like to know where everyone lives, at least. I think Mags is getting you the house between her's and Marissa's."

Marissa. That reminds me. I still haven't figured out what the big deal about her is. Maybe I'll have to reread her books for some clues. Well, that is, if Ann hasn't already done that. I don't know why I haven't been interested in figuring out the mystery of her death until now. Maybe it's because I'm finding all these clues. I don't know. All I do know is that I need to figure this out. That gives me an idea. Maybe Annie can help me. I mean, she has a ton of evidence piled up somewhere. I just have to ask.

"Yeah, that sounds good," I smile. Living next to Marissa's old house means I can probably sneak in there and look around. I don't want to seem nosy, but it's their fault for not telling me, I guess.

"Okay," Ariel says, walking off. Now all I have to do is ask Annie…

Oh crap.

"Hey, what day is it today?" I ask as nonchalantly as possible.

"July 28," Ariel says.

Crap.

"Finnick? You okay?"

"Y-yeah. Just a minute," I say, leaving for the dining car where Mags is.

"Finally figured it out?" Mags smiles.

"Dude, how do you know it's Annie's birthday?" I shout.

Mags laughs. "Some things will never make sense to you Finnick."

"Okay, as creepy as that is, I have bigger things to worry about. Is there any possible way to get us home today?"

"Relax Finnick," Mags says. "We'll get there in time."

"Good," I sigh, sitting down. I resist the urge to beg Mags to tell me what's going on, but I have more sense than that.

"I know what you're thinking. You should leave it to the older victors," Mags scolds me.

"I'm sorry. But Tigris slipped something and now I'm curious and-"

Mags chuckles. "Finnick, I promise you'll know someday. But that day is not today."

Mags is right. That day isn't today. It's tomorrow. I'll make sure of it.

If anyone has a CharaHub account, I have an account now too. I'm posting some of the OC's from this story on there. My username is the same as it is on here. Be careful though, obviously there will be spoilers.
