Kori closed her eyes. She hadn't been paying attention to the dates, but the date on her computer screen mocked her emotions. She spent months replaying that night in her heard. Walking into Wayne Manor to discuss moving to Jump City to support Richard as Bruce had asked and walking out devastated. She didn't believe it had actually happened until she saw the paper the next day with a picture of Richard in Jump City in front of Wayne Enterprises Jump City. It happened so fast she thought it was a dream. The dinner Alfred brought to her the next night confirmed her fear.

For three months she went through the routine of getting up, going to work, and coming home and going to bed. Rachel was concerned and Victor and Garfield helped by coming over. They kept waiting for her to explode but it never happened, at least not that they knew of. Her heart felt like it exploded but she learned to control her behavior.

It has officially been a year since that night and her heart felt heavy. She felt the heartache, fresh, like the first time, making it hard to breathe. But this only lasted a short time.

"Happy Wednesday." Roy said placing a cup of her favorite coffee in front of her. She gave him a small smile. It had been 5 months since they started dating. There were 7 months of him being her crutch. 7 months of him changing the news station whenever there was story on Richard, and 7 months of him letting her go to Bruce's house once a week to help him with his new ward Jason Todd, who was having a hard time adjusting.

"Thank you." She smiled. It wasn't passionate love, but it was comfortable. Sometimes she felt guilty because he was more into this than her, but he knew that and stayed anyway.

"You busy tonight?" He asked. Hopeful.

"Wednesday." She said with a small smile.

"So Todd still having trouble." He asked sitting on her desk, masking disappointment.

"They both are." She sighed. He kissed her forehead.

"If anyone can get through to him, I know you can." Their conversation got cut short when everyone looked at the screen replaying last night in Jump City where Nightwing took down Slade Cronies. Kori looked down. Since he moved there more action had taken place, which made his move seem justified. She couldn't bring herself to watch him in action. That still hurt too much. "Geez that guy is good." Roy said in awe, "Do you think that he has ever met t Bat Man?" he asked, his eyes still on the screen."

"I'm not sure." She muttered, getting back to work.

Hours later she knocked on the door, and Alfred opened.

"How is it going tonight?" She asked with a hopeful voice.

"Standard night. Seems Mr. Todd disagrees with Bruce's methods."

"Well he is a kid." She smiled. " Are they on patrol?"

"Not at the moment, just sat down for dinner."

As she made her way through the house she thought back a year ago, and then pushed it out of her head.

The dining room was silent as both men ate their dinner. Bruce stood up as she approached the table. He coughed and Jason put down his fork and stood up as well.

"Please, sit down, I practically live here." Kori said as she sat down, where Alfred immediately placed a dish.

They continued with their weekly routine and catching up, trying to help Jason and Bruce adjust while giving Kori a place to feel at home. The one subject they never talked about was Richard. She knew that Jason and Bruce talked about Nightwing and Richard when she wasn't around. Tonight however, Bruce needed to discuss the subject.

"Kori, I wanted to mention something, before it came up at work." At Bruce's remark she stood up straighter. "It is time for Wayne Enterprises to hold a charity ball, and they have requested it to be here. Bruce didn't need to finish the sentence, but he did. "All of Wayne Enterprises top people are going to be here, and that include,"

"Richard." She finished. Todd looked back and forth between the two as they made eye contact.

"So I finally get to meet this dude?" He asked, breaking their stare.

"When is it?" She asked.

"Sunday." That was only a few days from now, and sooner then she expected. "News outlets will be informed tomorrow morning, which means you will find out. Who else did they raise up with you to be a permanent writer?"

"Roy Harper." She responded. "We both cover events like these, which means we would come together."

"Well, when Richard comes and sees you two, it's his own damn fault, and I'll remind him." Bruce said as he took a drink from his glass.

Richard took off his mask and sat down on a barstool in his kitchen. He has been living here for a year. His modern apartment was put together by an acclaimed interior designer, but he couldn't remember the name, and frankly, he didn't care. This place wasn't home. He spent all day at the office, and all night on the streets. He slept but he was adjusted to a limited amount, and he didn't care if that was healthy. He didn't really care about anything. Except for taking down Slade. He checked his email on his phone and saw there was nothing new. He was tempted to reread the invitation for Sunday for the umpteenth time, but he decided against it. He felt nervous, and he didn't like that, because that meant that he didn't have control over his emotions.

He hadn't spoken to Bruce since he left, and didn't want to start. He also didn't want to show up and see Kori. The first few weeks he still kept tabs on her, but he stopped. His office got the paper from Gotham to keep up with headquarters, and he noticed her name was on many columns, which must have meant she had been promoted, but he didn't trust himself to look it up. He didn't want to go, but he had to. Working at Wayne Enterprises meant he could afford to keep up with Nightwing. He would send in his RSVP accepting when he went into the office tomorrow, but he couldn't think about it. He already thought about her too much. He did the right thing. He knew it. Or at least he convinced himself every time he saw something that reminded him of her, which was often. He sighed as his head went forward, he was not looking forward to Sunday.

Bruce was right. At their staff meeting the next Monday Kori and Roy were given press badges to attend the Sunday event. Roy didn't bother to hide his concern when they walked out.

"So is Grayson going to be at this?" He asked, not trying to hide concern. His bluntness took her by surprise.

"That's what I've heard." She responded.

"From him?" He asked with a harsher than normal tone.

"Roy, you know I haven't spoken to him since he left." She said quietly.

"I'm sorry," he sighed, "I know, I shouldn't have suggested that. Are you going to be okay?" They both knew he was asking if their relationship was going to be okay.

She couldn't give an answer, so she nodded her head.
