The Other Agent Foster

Chapter 29- One Hell of a Day

Tuck sat on the sofa, beer in hand, trying not to worry about Franklin and his sister. It had been hours since the Angel had dragged her rage filled brother out of the bridal store and he hadn't seen or spoken to either of them since. It had been one hell of a day. The beer was helping a little, but it was all still a bit much to take in. When Tuck had woken up alone in his apartment that morning he had, had no idea what was going to happen to him.

Looking at his watch for the third time in the last ten minutes, Tuck rushed down the street towards the bridal shop. He couldn't believe how late he was, and it was all the Angel's fault. His training session with Partrick that morning had run later than he had expected. And all because his sparring partner had decided that it was HIS fault that Angelica had chosen to give HIS son a demonstration of her hand to hand combat skills. Ok, it probably hadn't helped that Tuck still found the situation absolutely hilarious and had continued to tease Agent Monroe throughout their usual session. But at least they had both gotten a good workout that morning. Now though Tuck was late for his fitting and Lauren was going to hit the roof.

Rushing through the door of the bridal shop, Tuck realised that the others must already be changing as there was no one on the shop floor. So steeling himself for whatever reaction his late arrival would prompt in the bride, he pushed aside the curtain and stepped into the changing areaof the store.

"Wow."

He hadn't meant to say anything, but the word had fallen from his mouth without permission. How could it not when she was standing there, an absolute vision reflected a hundred times in the mirrors arund her. Tuck had never seen her dressed like this. Instead of her usual white, the Angel was in dove grey down to the floor. She looked like a goddess on a pedestal.

"Baby, if you're done do you think you could go across the street and pick us all up something to eat. I'm sure we won't be long now and to be honest I'm starving."

Lauren's words to her fiance snapped Tuck out of trance, reminding him that there were other people in the room.

"Sure, if Tuck will hurry up and try his on. I'll be back soon."

Laughing along with his friend he grabbed the suit waiting for him and stepped into a cubicle to change.

By the time Tuck stepped out of the cubicle, bow tie in hand Lauren and her friend Trish were gone. She was still there though, just standing there looking in the mirror as if she was deep in thought.

"Angel, could you help me with this?"

He hadn't thought the words through before he spoke. All he knew ws that he wanted her to stand a little closer, to be looking at him and not the mirror. Turning towards him she smiled a little and stepping down from the platform she was on the Angel pushed his hands away and tied the bow tie herself. Tuck didn't take his eyes off of her face the entire time. He could do it himself, of course he could, he hsd done it hundreds of times, possibly thousands. Yet she didn't say anything and neither did he until she had finished stepping back so that he could look into the mirror.

"You look absolutely stunning in that dress Angel."

He said, looking at her reflection in the mirror as she stood behind him.

"You don't look too bad yourself"

She said and he laughed nervously. There was something heavy in the air between them. As if suddenly all of the tension that had been building between them was going to burst.

"Anyway I had better get out of this dress. We don't have the space for much longer."

As she retreated back into the cubicle, Tuck searched in vain for something to say, anything. But she beat him to it.

"I spoke to Katie today"

Tuck's heart stopped and his mouth went dry. Why had she brought that up now. He had known that the Angel had planned to take Joe his outfit that morning, but he hadn't thought that Katie would have said anything to warrent such an announcement. Especially not about THEM.

"I think that there's some stuff that we need to talk about. Especially as I'm going to be staying."

But he had been wrong before. Moving slowly Tuck sat down onto the chaise in the middle of the room with his head in his hands. In fact he was so dazed by what she had said that he didn't notice that Angelica had stepped out of the cubicle until she spoke again.

"Tuck?"

There was a moment of silence as Tuck rubbed a hand over his face.

"What did she say?"

He asked finally as she stepped towards him.

"To be honest, she said pretty much exactly the same thing as everyone else."

Shrugging Angelica sat beside Tuck while he looked at her confused. What was she talking about?

"She was the third person to tell me that we need to talk. Fourth if you count Edward."

Tuck opened and closed his mouth a couple of times before any words actually came out. Now he was even more confused because as far as he knew she only knew one Edward.

"Edward? As in Edward Morren? You're dead tutor Agent Moros told you that we need to talk?"

The smile that the Angel gave him then made Tuck groan with frustration, because she was just loving how confused he was.

"No Genius, Obviously he wasn't dead when he said it. He told me that before he died. It was pretty much the last thing he ever said to me."

Again there was silence as they sat side by side not looking at one another until he replied.

"And what did Edward want us to talk about?"

Tuck was at a loss. He had no idea what to think about the shift in conversation. He had barely known Moros, even though they had been based in the same office. And although he had always assumed that Edward Morren knew exactly what his student was up to, he had no idea what the cleaner had thought about him and his Angel.

"Us. He thought that we needed to talk about us and our relationship."

Tuck couldn't help the sarcastic reply that jumped out of his mouth then. It had always been a sore point for him, the fact that they had never really been a couple.

"Or our lack thereof."

The smile she gave then was completely unexpected.

"Yeah. I think that was his point."

While she was still refusing to look over at Tuck, he had turned to stare at her face because he couldn't really believe what she was saying. Could it really be true after all this time?

"Angel, what are you saying? Are you saying what I think you're saying?"

That was when shefinally turned to face him, locking their eyes together before she continued.

"I know that it is late in coming Tuck, and I know that it will seem like it is coming out of nowhere. But it's been on my mind for sometime, I just wouldn't let myself think about it. I really care about you and I know what I want now. I want to try and have a relationship with you. A proper relationship. I know that things will be hard, and I know that we will probably have to tell Frankie about our past. But do you think that we could do it? Could we have an actual relationship?"

Tuck was in complete shock for a moment, sitting there with his face completely blank as he tried to process everything that she had just said.

"Angel, my Angel. I've never wanted anything else."

Suddenly Tuck found himself kissing her again. It felt like a lifetime since he had last felt her against him like this. Without a single thought to where they were he manoeuvred them both so that she was straddling his lap, giving them more space to make out like teenagers. He laughed happily alternating between kisses and just looking into her eyes so that they could breathe the same air. He couldn't believe that this was actually happening, that finally after all these years he had a shot at what he really wanted.

"God, I missed you so much Angel."

Tuck smiled at the memory. It was without a doubt the best moment of his entire life. He still couldn't believe that it was happening. He finally had the chance to be with his Angel properly, as an actual couple without sneaking around and without hiding his feelings.

"You're a dead man!"

The smile slipped from Tuck's face as he remembered his friend's reaction. That moment had been one of the worst he had ever had. Above torture, above being shot and only slightly below all of the times that the Angel had walked out of his life was this. The look of Anger and Disgust on his best friend's face when he had found out about them.

Suddenly the atmosphere in the room changed and Tuck put the beer down infront of him.

"Hello Angel."

He found his smile again as she stepped out of the shadows and moved to take a drink from the bottle he had just put down. She didn't look worried or upset, so obviously the talk with her brother hadn't gone too badly, but he still had to ask.

"So should I expect Franklin to come storming in armed to the teeth or not?"

The Angel smiled as she lowered the bottle from her lips.

"I don't think so. He actually took it quite well, once he calmed down a little. He's promised to play nice."

Sighing with relief Tuck let his head fall back against the sofa. At least his friend wasn't feeling homicidal anymore. Wait, could he still call him that, his friend? Tuck hoped so.

"Does he still hate me do you think?"

He asked raising his head to see her reaction, but the Angel shrugged putting the bottle down onto the table where it had been before.

"He doesn't hate you Tuck. It's just that, it isn't often that Frankie gets to play the protective big brother. It was a bit of a shock walking in on us like that. Give him a couple of days and you guys will be best friends again. I promise."

With that she walked over to the sofa and sat dwn beside him with her head on his shoulder. It was automatic and familiar for them both as Tuck moved his arm over her shoulders to pull her closer and they both smiled.

"I can live with that."

They were silent for a moment, passing the beer between them while they collected their thoughts until she spoke again.

"We need to talk about this, don't we?"

Tuck nodded sitting up a little straighter so that he could look the Angel in the eye.

"Yeah we do."

Nodding as well she followed his lead, growing more serious as she sat up a little straighter.

"I'm not really sure where to start."

She laughed nervously as she said it and Tuck smiled. He had never seen her so nervous before.

"Well, what do you want to do Angel? We both need to figure out where we are."

Looking a little more confident Angelica nodded.

"Alright. I think we'll just have to take t slow, get used to this whole thing. But right now, right at this moment, all I really want to do is lie here with you on the couch and watch a movie or something over a couple of beers."

Laughing happily at the thought, Tuck pulled her back down to lie against him.

"That sounds pretty good to me too Angel."

In fact. It sounded perfect.
