Well, I decided for myself that she is gonna have two kits. Enjoy. This is the last chapter with the actual story but read the very last one too.

Primrosebutterfly heaved a sigh of relief. It had been a moon since the terrible discovery and she and Scarletfur kept it to themselves. Scarletfur had left Flamestar for good but not the nursery. Scalesplash had gone to live in ShadowClan with Cherryflower, who was now expecting his kits and trying to raise her current litter of a cat called Sharpfang. Horseflight and Scarletfur were with her.

"What are you going to name them?" Horseflight asked her.

"Well, the tom is Twinedkit and the she-cat is for Scarletfur to name."

"What? Oh, thank you so much! I think I'm going to call her Silkykit."

"She looks just like you." Horseflight said.

"You think so?"

Primrosebutterfly smiled at her kits. Life was perfect. All was quiet in the camp that day, and Flamestar was taking a patrol to end violence with ShadowClan after all. Occasionally, Scalesplash would see her by the border and give news of ShadowClan. Twilightgaze, did the same for Windclan. So really, she knew all the stories at the gathering. Duskheart had died suddenly in the night. She suspected of a broken heart. Sleekface too, was not herself. She was going to be fine eventually but for now, she moped around murmuring words of comfort to herself. Dreadclaw, however, had been informed of the sisters' new knowledge. He was a good father for asking to have them named after 'a dead warrior'. It was also discovered that Treadflower's mate had been Fernstar all along. Dreadclaw was made deputy amongst all his. One day, he may even become Dreadstar.

"Hey, Scarletfur? Can you watch my kits please? I need a few moments alone."

"Sure."

There was a tiny little imperfection in her life. She walked down to the stream slowly, the war breeze in her fur and the bird song in her mind. She sat by the stream and looked longingly into the rippling waters.

"Oh, Lightningclaw, how I miss you."

She could have sworn a tiny beam of light shot across the sky.

Was he watching her? Approving her decisions?

"Are you okay, Freebird?"A thin silvery she-cat walked up and sat down next to her former mentor.

"Sleekface…I," he swallowed, "feel so…unhappy..."

"Why"

"I don't know if I want kits just yet."

"Of course you do! And anyway Webfur will be the one looking after them while you're outside hunting and patrolling!"

"But what if something happens while I'm doing this?"

"It won't, besides it will be the third litter this moon."

"What's that got to do with it?"

"Third time lucky!"

He purred. "I'm just over reacting aren't I? It just seems too soon to have kits."

Sleekface smiled at him. "Just now I'll be saying that."

"Do you have someone in mind?"

"No, but maybe one of your kits and I will get along"

"I'll make sure you mentor one of them, in case."His eyes glittered. With hope? Regret?

"You know that there are going to be many cats needing a mentor by the time yours are ready, right?"

"Yes but I'd like it if you mentored one of mine."

"As would I and you know that. Now let's get back to camp and see if Webfur's kitted yet."

Freebird raced back to camp while Sleekface sat rooted to the spot.

Life doesn't work out the way you want it or expect it to. Her love for Freebird was as hopeless as a butterfly caught in a wind storm. There will always be another cat, but none quite like your first choice. She closed her eyes tight. I love you Freebird. From the bottom of my heart. But that is irrelevant to your life. We have our own paths that we cannot change, however much we wish we could. When, life gets tough, you get stronger to face it. Even if it means saying goodbye to those you loved. So goodbye, Freebird. I'm sure that you have your reasons.

She went back to camp and saw the little kit that was Butterflyfur''s kit. She watched intently, but she would never know that he almost called her Sleekkit.

There are two parts to every story and always, life goes on.
