Chapter 29
She could feel it. The dragon instincts crawling around underneath her skin, burning in her veins and pushing her forward in a blind rage. The mission her family and herself took had been a misleading one. What was originally supposed to be a simple item search mission turned into fighting bandits in the middle of the mountains.
Kagome had no way of knowing if the person who put in the request did so while knowingly withholding information. At least right now she didn't but as soon as she was done with these idiots she would be having words with the requester.
"Ack! Mama!" Twin calls from her baby boy and new adopted baby girl spurned her forward in a whirlwind of rage. No one touched her family.
NO ONE.
"WATER DRAGON ROAR!"
"FIRE DRAGON ROAR!"
Kagome watched in satisfaction as her stormy breathe attack met Natsu's own violent attack only to combine in a beautiful swirl of draconian filled fury. The dragon that prowled inside of the young mother rumbled in vindication when the rest of the standing bandits fall in defeat.
"MAMA!" Kagome's head whipped around, slitted eyes taking in the form of her kids making sure to sniff for any injuries. Shippo was the first to greet her as he pulled on Wendy's hand, dragging the little blue haired girl alongside him. Both had never parted from each other's side, remaining together and guarding each other. It made her immensely proud.
"Are you guys ok?" When she received twin nods she exhaled in relief. "Good. Good job staying together. Thank you Kiara for watching over them." Kagome smiled when her partner only mewled from her perch on Shippo's head.
"Is everyone ok?" Natsu's warm body settled behind her, his chest pressed firmly to her back, his arms wrapped around her waist. His grip on her was notably protective and possessive and she knew it would take a mighty force to remove him from her right now.
Dragons were such possessive creatures.
"Yes, Natsu. We're ok." Sending a gently purr through her body, vibrating softly, she felt him relax against her. His head nuzzling desperately into her neck as he ran his nose along her pale skin.
"Good."
