Eventually, the rain disappeared. The water was traded for a burning sun that persisted to perish everyone under its rays but nobody complained. Giselle had swapped her muggle novels for piles of Order plans and her cups of tea had been replaced with iced pumpkin juice yet she didn't mind – it kept her happy.

During the heavy Order work, there was one day when both Sirius and Giselle were completely free from their duties. Sirius woke up that morning to a loud tap at their window. Yawning and ruffling his growing tresses, he jumped up to inspect the hollow tapping to see a tawny owl at their window with a small letter in its beak. Sirius pulled the window open and thanked the owl for the letter but the owl did not stay since it flew off into the distance the second he took the letter. Sirius caught the crest of Hogwarts wrapped around the owl's spindly leg as it took off and he knew who the letter was from instantly – Dumbledore.

Dear Sirius and Giselle,
As you have heard, the success of last night's plans mean that the pair of you do not have to follow through with the backup arrangement at noon. Since you are not needed today, you are free of duties till the next stage.
Enjoy the pleasant weather,
Albus Dumbledore

Sirius blinked and rushed into the bedroom where Giselle sat with only the sheets to cover her naked body. He leant against the door frame, admiring her from afar as she yawned, finally waking up.

"Good morning," She sighed, wrapping her hair up in a loose knot and turning to face Sirius, "what time do we have to leave for Alastor's place?" Sirius flashed his foolish grin and dropped the letter on the bed. Giselle picked it up and read it quickly. A bright beam of sunlight covered her face and she sighed in relief.

"Finally, we have a day off." Sirius sat down on the bed and read the letter again. Clicking his tongue, he turned to Giselle and placed a small kiss on her lips.

"What shall we do?"

Giselle glanced out of the window and wrinkled her nose, thinking of a great way to spend their free time in the sun. She looked around the room and her gaze was caught on a photo of the sea crashing onto a beach with white foam spraying everywhere. A bulb switched on inside her head and she smiled.

"Let's go to the beach."

The cries of gulls filled the air as Sirius, Giselle and Remus were hit with the strong smell of sea salt and sweet sugars from various shore front stalls. The sun peaked high in the cobalt sky and the deep aquamarine ocean produced waves that continued to roll onto the pebbled beach.

Giselle glanced at Remus who visibly relaxed when he gulped the fresh air. The effects of the full moon that appeared a couple of days had taken all of his energy and he looked half dead. His face and arms were covered in new scars and the bags under his eyes were deep purple. He had been granted his well-deserved day off by Dumbledore after his small run-in with the other werewolves whilst on his latest patrol and both Sirius and Giselle pleaded their friend to join them for a relaxing day beside the beach to soothe his injuries.

"Where to first?" Sirius asked, shoving his hands into his pockets to grab a handful of muggle money that was completely foreign to him. Giselle squealed and watched as a care-free teenage couple waltzed past the trio with large cones of candyfloss.

"Let's go and eat, I'm starving," Giselle suggested and the three strolled over to the row of local cuisine stalls that held battered fish, salty chips, homemade fudge and even fluffy piles of pink and white candyfloss.

"Here Moony," Sirius dumped a heavy mound of silver and gold coins into Remus' hands, "You took muggle studies – go... study muggles or something." Remus frowned but took the money and went to buy refreshments for the group. He bought a couple trays of chips, two cups of some sort of bubbling brown drink and (as Giselle requested) a large cone of candyfloss.

"Cheers Remus," Giselle said as he passed her the soft candy and she began to tear it apart with her teeth as the boys tried to strange muggle drink.

"The pretty lass behind the counter called it 'Coke.'" Sirius raised his eyebrows and sipped the fizzy mixture. It tickled his nose but it sat nicely on his taste buds.

"How is it?" Giselle asked with a mouthful of sugar and Sirius nodded, sealing his approval.

"It's... different."

The trio spent half an hour sat at the small picnic bench tasting the new muggle foods and with each bite, they craved more. Giselle had taking a mild liking to the 'Coke' while Remus and Sirius had to fight over the last remaining handful of a strange sweet bar called 'stick of rock'.

"I don't get it; it's not made out of rock?" Giselle asked as she slurped up the last dregs of her drink. Sirius shrugged and tried to pull his teeth apart as the candy had glued his jaw shut. Remus examined the stick then sighed, pocketing it for when he was peckish later in the day.

"Muggles, they're very strange people," Remus replied as he threw their rubbish in the nearby bin but Giselle noticed his gaze had been drawn to a figure behind Sirius and herself. They span around in their seat, shaded the burning sun from their eyes and saw Peter approach with a pair of sunglasses covering his eyes. Remus smiled and cleared a space for Peter to sit down.

"Dumbledore gave me the day off and I found your note," he nodded towards Remus, "so I decided to join you three on one of the rare days it's not pissing it down." Giselle nibbled the straw between her lips then looked around to see what attractions caught her eye. The pier. Giselle stood up and grabbed her bag whilst the group wondered where she was going.

"Who's up for a thrill?" Giselle asked and she jabbed her thumb at the rides on the pier. The boys instantly perked up and left the table in a rush. The pier held a few large rides that picked the groups interest. They spent hours at the amusement park, trying out every ride there was. Giselle particularly enjoyed the ride that threw her in the air and she felt like she was on her trusty Cleansweeper again with the wind running through her hair and the rush of the freedom she used to crave.

The sun began to set when the four gave up on the rides and left the brightly coloured pier. They chose a bench that overlooked the setting tides and collapsed, exhausted from their laughs.

"You gotta hand it to these Muggles, those rides were impressive," Sirius concluded as he draped an arm over Giselle's shoulders. Giselle tightened her grip on the dolphin prize Sirius won for her and she nodded.

"You weren't saying that while we were on the twister coaster," Giselle sniggered, remembering his panicked words as the ride crawled higher into the sky. Peter laughed and threw a few more pieces of popcorn into his mouth.

"What were you saying, Padfoot? 'I don't wanna die!'" Peter mimicked his friend and Sirius punched his arm, scoffing, "Coming from the pussy who didn't want to ride it at all!"

Peter shrugged, "But I did." The boys continued to bicker as Giselle shuffled up the bench towards Remus who was staring out towards the harbour nearby. His fists were edging towards his coat pocket where Giselle knew his wand sat.

"Remus, what's wrong?" She muttered, following his gaze but Remus jumped up and revealed his wand. He produced a thick shield of the Protego spell and a sudden blast of red rebounded. Sirius swore loudly and forced Giselle out of the way as other spell barely missed her shoulder. Giselle fell onto the floor and grabbed her own wand but she didn't need to use it as Sirius roughly picked her up and thrusted her body into the centre of the trio.

Her view of the beach had disappeared but before she could push her way out of the protective circle, Remus grabbed her arm and turned on the spot, muttering, "How did they find us?"

Giselle felt her body compress, the air gone from her lungs, but she soon realised that Cornwall had vanished from her sight. The scenery had been replaced with a cute house dressed in dark ivy and dim flowers. Remus opened the small picket gate and jogged up the path, Giselle still pressed against his side. She looked around and panicked when she couldn't see Sirius. She wrinkled her nose and dug her nails into Remus' hand.

"Where is he? What have you-,"

"I promised him to get you out of there if we saw any signs of danger. I'm simply keeping my promise," Remus whispered before knocking on the front door to the house. Giselle's face tensed for a few seconds, deep lines on her forehead as she continued to stare at Remus, his face was blank and hard, but the lines relaxed when she saw James' face pop up as the door opened.

"Thank goodness you're home. We were attacked-," Remus began to explain but Lily had appeared and pulled them inside. Giselle threw her arms around Lily, breathing in her delicate sweet scent. She hadn't seen her best friend in weeks and it felt good to be in the company of another girl for a change.

"What happened?" Lily asked, bringing her into the warm living room and Remus was about to explain when there was another knock on the door. Giselle froze, her heart thumping loudly in hope of seeing Sirius so she waited for James to return with him. She heard him before she saw him.

"Is she ok? Did Remus bring her here safely?" Sirius rushed into the room and picked up Giselle, kissing her hard on the lips. She ran her fingers through his hair as she muttered into his ear, "Next time, do not give Remus orders to protect me. He wanted to help you and I do not need babysitting." Sirius laughed and kissed her cheeks with his cold lips.

"I'm sorry 'Elle,"

"You can't protect me forever, Sirius," she added before returning to the conversation. Remus finished his explanation of the attack just as Peter arrived, his cheek bleeding. Lily tended to his injury as Sirius and James spoke quietly about the details in the corner.

"...and you have no idea how they could have found you?" James whispered and Sirius nodded, looking at the others in the room.

"Remus left Peter a note as to where we were but... Surely not Remus?" Sirius asked and James ran a hand through his hair. They both were in pain because they knew they could trust their best friends but they were at war. They didn't know who they could trust anymore.
