Chapter 29

"In the speed we are going, we'll get there in about few days in time, with breaks added," One of the two guys that walked along with the blind woman, Natsumi, said calmly as he was pulling the cart. The man was tall and well built. His skin was much tanned. His hair was short and brown, messy as he wasn't the type to care for his looks.

"That's good," Natsumi smiled as they travelled along the grassy path.

"And I bet we lost those ninja," The other guy laughed, his arm was being held by Natsumi. He was thin and his brown hair was held in a low ponytail. Both men wore a grey uniform that consisted of black spots over their cloth. They also wore head bands around their necks, with a musical note as the symbol.

"I kind of feel bad…" Natsumi mumbled. "I was very hesitant to use my power on those two children…"

"You just put them to sleep," The larger man didn't want the woman to be upset with herself. He smiled to her. "Don't worry about it. Their sensei will wake them up."

"If he has the brains to do it," The thin man chuckled. "I'm very surprised we pulled it off, censoring our body and surrounding from sound was a great idea!"

"It was my idea," the bulkier guy grumbled. Natsumi placed her free hand over her mouth, trying not to laugh at their conversation.

"I wonder what the Jounin's reaction would have been if he found out about your abilities, Lady Natsumi," the thin guy said to Natsumi. The woman shrugged.

"Not sure…" her smile vanished and stopped in her tracks. Her eyes were wide. This got the other men's attention.

"What's wrong?" The thinner guy asked right away.

"They found us," She pulled herself away from the two men and placed her hands together. She concentrated some chakra in her hands before her body glowed with white light. The two ninja quickly took out ear plugs and placed them on. Natsumi inhaled before her mouth took in a circular formation to whistle, but it wasn't a normal one as it was louder than usual. It had a calm rhythm, and the sound travelled through the forest.

Tobi was jumping with his students in between branches and stopped as he heard a whistling. Well it sounded more like music to his ears. The noise was so calm; it had unique tune to it too. It sounded like a bird, singing from the heavens. Tobi was confused, never heard this before. He then guessed the noise was coming from the same place where Natsumi was at. He was about to jump from the branch, but suddenly his eye sight blurred up. A sharp pain came across his head, paralyzing his body. His ears were getting irritated, the nice music became like a screech deep in his head.

"Sensei!" Miso yelled as he was on his knees, body shaking. His eyes were shut as if he was suffering. Chan's eyes shuttered and he lost his concentration of his chakra on his feet that held him on the tree trunk. The boy was falling from a great height.

"Damn it," Tobi knew the fall will result badly for Chan's body. The masked man tried to jump after him, but he lost his footing too and collapsed to one knee.

"Got him!" Mizuki yelled as she dived to catch Chan just in time. After placing Chan's body on the ground safely, she plugged her ears with her index fingers like she was doing before. She looked up to her sensei who grunted before his sharingan eye activated. His body slowly began to swirl away, vanishing from the Genin's presence.

"Sensei?" Mizuki was confused to see Tobi disappear without a trace. She was now worried. She really hoped they weren't going to disappear one by one like their sensei because of the sound.

"My head… is killing me," Chan placed his hand on his forehead. Mizuki didn't look at him as she couldn't hear him well. She got up and glanced to Miso who was lying on the tree branch he was on. Why did they have to go through hardships like these when doing a C-rank mission? She heard it wasn't supposed to be this hard…

The girl froze in the spot when something held her shoulder. She turned quickly, frightened but relaxed to see it was her sensei. Tobi was holding on to Mizuki by her shoulder and placed his other hand on Chan's head before his sharingan eye glowed. Mizuki gasped as her vision swirled and her body felt itself twist around. She shut her eyes, the girl felt like heaving from the strange movement. The girl opened her eyes confused as the atmosphere changed.

"Where…are we…?" she let out, unplugging her ears while she stood up. She wasn't in the forest anymore. They were now in this dark place, rectangle prisms were around taking in different sizes. Chan kept groaning in pain, but relaxed he wasn't going to be tortured by the music now. The boy sat up, his hand on his head still and narrowed his eyes at their destination.

"Am I…under Genjutsu?" he asked confused.

"No," Tobi's dark voice answered Chan. The masked man appeared to them with Miso over his left shoulder, the boy laid there, whimpering.

"We are in my dimension," Tobi struggled to lean down; his body ached while placing his student down.

"Your dimension?" Mizuki walked over to him.

"Let's talk about that another time," Tobi got to one knee, his eyes closed as he concentrated to make a plan. "That sound we heard was a technique, maybe Ninjutsu, but not so sure. Whoever listens to that tune, their brain function is severely disturbed."

Mizuki's hands glowed. "Let me see if I can fix it," she offered. Tobi gave her a nod, letting her use her healing Jutsu on his head. Tobi closed his eyes, her power helped with numbing down the pain.

"I'm next," Chan had his arms over his face, teeth clenched. Miso was almost unconscious, his eyes were half closed, and eyelids trembled from the constant pain that his brain was going through.

"I don't hear their movements…" Natsumi had stopped her Ninjutsu and listened to the wind for anything she can pick up from the ninja

The other two ninja freed their ears from the plugs and were impressed from her power. They kind of felt weak though as the sound waves managed to get through their body pores. "You're incredible, my lady," one of them said.

Natsumi smiled at their way.

"Let's go, we don't want to keep your fiancé waiting," The taller man picked up the handles of the cart, so they would go back to their way. Natsumi's smile became small from the man's words, but nodded, following the two men.

"I thought you said no one can get out from the forest," Choji let out with shock as he, Ino, and Shikamaru were standing inside Naruto's office. The Hokage stared at Shikamaru for sometime before getting up.

"Do you think this is related to the random killings that the other Kage talked about?" the Hokage asked. Shikamaru was looking down, thinking before nodding.

"Possibly," he looked up at Naruto. "But what I don't get is…the land was as settled as it should be from the time I buried him there…"

"That means he escaped in the same year," Ino concluded. "But when could he or anyone get him out without your clan's knowledge?"

Shikamaru thought about this and his hands turned into fists once he realized when the man had escaped. He glanced at Ino with a serious look. "During the Fourth Ninja War."

"You serious?" Naruto asked dumbfounded.

"My clan was busy helping with the war," Shikamaru nodded, angry that he wasn't careful enough. "That was the right time for anyone to dig him out."

"Don't worry, Shikamaru," Naruto grinned to his friend. "We will beat him like we did before."

"I doubt it will be as easy as before," Shikamaru sighed. "Something tells me these Jashinists are not killing without reason…"

Naruto blinked. The man was right. It had been so many years that Hidan was freed from his imprisonment. There didn't seem to be any sightings of him during the years. Also Jashinists didn't even show their presence until now. Why was the cult killing people in the name of their so called Jashin at this time? Naruto hoped this didn't mean something big was going to happen. He was really enjoying the peaceful times they were living in.

"We should take a break," The taller ninja let go of the cart, stretching his shoulders while he cracked his neck from the tension that his muscles build up from their long travel. The sun was taking its time going up in the sky. Natsumi nodded with agreement.

"They're long gone, so we don't have to worry about anything," Natsumi was about to take a sit on the grass, but was half way to do so when she caught a disturbance in the calm forest. "Wait…" she said quietly. The thinner guy frowned, and looked around with a kunai in hand. The sun's rays began to make their way down through the forest. Animals were no where insight. The weather was perfect, warm but had a nice breeze that cooled down one's body. Everything seemed stable, nothing seemed suspicious.

"You sure it wasn't a squirrel or something?" the thin guy asked Natsumi.

"Oh boy," A childish voice said behind the trio. They quickly turned to spot the masked man sitting on a tree branch. "This is no good…" he shook his head. "Why Natsumi-Chan? Why are you working with them?" The man sounded hurt, as he placed his hand over his chest as if it was in pain. "I thought we had something special…"

Natsumi was shocked as the man just came out of nowhere. "This isn't what you think it is," she said. The other two ninja stepped in front, glaring at Tobi. The masked man ninja eyed them before he got off the tree.

"Oh?" Tobi sighed in relief. "That's good then…I thought you betrayed me," the man placed his arms behind his head, relaxed. "But wait…that means…these two are bad guys!" Tobi gasped from the reality he came up with.

Natsumi was going to say something, but the two ninja went to attack Tobi.

"You aren't needed anymore!" the thin one was going to slash at Tobi, but the masked man in a split second appeared on the man's left side before slamming his arm on the guy's neck. The ninja choked at this and his body was slammed on the ground. The masked man took a hold on his neck hard and threw him at the bulkier guy. The two collided harshly and right after collapsed with one another. Natsumi's eyes were wide. Her ears picked up the trashing sounds that just took place. The sound waves helped her imagine what happened in her mind. The woman was just shocked. Tobi was powerful, from the lack of movement the other two ninja, she could tell the masked man won. But how was this possible? The man had a childish voice, and from the other day he seemed pretty weak to be whine about an injury he received from one of his Genin.

"Now you should pay for stealing Natsumi-Chan," Tobi made a fist and punched his open hand, as if trying to intimidate the fallen ninja. The two ninja were pulling from one another, coughing from the pain and glared up at Tobi.

"Wait!" Natsumi yelled with desperation. "They are my bodyguards!"

Tobi blinked behind his mask. "Bodyguards?" he tilted his head to the side.

"Yes, my parents hired you Konoha ninja, lied to you so I would have a head start to the village, because the bodyguards my fiancé sent out were going to take longer…We planned to meet halfway along the path and leave you guys…" she mumbled.

"Fi…ance?" Tobi let out with total confusion.

"Wait a minute!" Miso's voice yelled as he leaped out of his hiding spot, behind a bush, with an annoyed expression. His teammates came out from the top of the trees. "Meet you halfway?" Miso narrowed his eyes towards Natsumi as he was in between her and Tobi. "The mission we were given said to make sure we drop you off to your destination. It never said halfway!"

"Fi…ance?" Tobi asked again, but this time a bit quieter.

"Miso is right," Mizuki didn't care if she was pissed with the blind woman. "Where you just using us for free labor then?"

"I bet she did," Chan grumbled. "Customers must pay a fee to the ninja for completing a mission. The mission clearly states we must take you to your destination and if that didn't happen then the mission wouldn't be completed meaning we don't get paid," Chan crossed his arms on his chest; he wasn't in a good mood. "You do know cheating a ninja isn't a smart move, right?"

Natsumi's eyes lowered, she placed her hands together before giving a bow to them. "I apologize…My fiancé doesn't trust other ninja that don't belong to his village."

"Fi…ance?" Tobi's voice let out quietly in the background.

"Other Ninja?" Mizuki pulled out the document that had the mission from her bag. She scanned the details of it. "The Village of Gene has no ninja," she raised an eyebrow with confusion.

"We taking her to the Sound Village," the bulky ninja managed to get on his feet, dusting himself with a frown.

"The Sound Village?" Miso blinked.

"That's the village that wishes to become one of the top Great Villages," Mizuki remembered studying about it back at the Academy.

"There is a ninja there who thinks he can pull off being a Kage too," Chan grunted with amusement.

"Don't mock The Otokage!" the ninja snapped.

"Otokage?" Miso scratched his head. He didn't know anything about the rumors. "Wait…why are you going there?"

"I'm engaged with the Otokage," Natsumi didn't say this with joy, but instead just simply said it.

"You marrying a wannabe?" Chan disapproved this. He thought it was pathetic how she was marrying a ninja who thought he could become a Kage. Well then again he didn't care much now. She was in his bad side for abandoning them.

"What about the mission?" Miso really wanted to complete their C-ran mission.

"The mission was a lie, Miso," Mizuki glared at Natsumi. "She just used us."

Miso stared at Mizuki before turning to Natsumi, with a sad look. "But…this was…the perfect mission…" The boy mumbled.

"I'm sorry, Miso…" Natsumi really meant it. She didn't think it was even important for them. She barely knew them.

"Don't worry, Miso," a dark voice said calmly. Natsumi didn't recognize it. The voice didn't belong to her bodyguards nor belonged to the Konoha shinobi, yet it seemed like whom spoke was within the group. "We will finish the mission no matter what anyone says."

Natsumi's eyes widened as the sound waves indicated the voice belonged to the Jounin. How…was that possible? It was out of character for him, well based off knowing him from the days they traveled together. The voice was completely different to the childish tone he had. Did he have a personality disorder? Or this whole time was he masking his real self?

Miso was surprised as to what his sensei said. "But she is heading to another village."

Tobi shrugged. "We can take her to her real destination and receive the fee."

"We ain't letting you," The thin sound ninja hissed, rubbing his neck. It was swelling up with a bruise because of Tobi's attacks.

"As if you can do something about it," Tobi kind of mocked. "Now tell me, who placed my students under Genjutsu and created that nuisance sound that almost screwed up our brains?" his eyes were directed to the Sound Ninja who kind of took a step back, getting the feeling Tobi wanted payback from such things. "I guess you are a coward too," Tobi glanced at Natsumi. The woman didn't say a word, biting her lower lip as if she was ashamed. The three Genin were surprised the blind woman had such power. Miso wanted to ask how she had them, but kept his mouth shut as Tobi continued talking. "I'm surprised that you hold such talent…Makes me think you getting married with the Otokage is very fitting…" he trailed from his coldness. Natsumi picked up something strange from his tone and for some reason she was offended.

"It doesn't seem like you mean it," Natsumi said suspiciously. Tobi narrowed his eyes. "You have doubts…Do you think he's just using me?"

Tobi was completely lost. He didn't really think the Otokage was using her. He didn't even know the guy. How did she even think he doubted to what he said?

"Natsumi knows when someone is lying," The bulky shinobi revealed with a smirk. "She has many talents."

"She can?" Miso was now curious about something. "Wait…So the way our sensei acts like a kid…did you know he was lying that time?" the boy wanted to know if Tobi's childish act was a lie.

This was what Natsumi was debating herself before. The way Tobi was acting, the way he spoke seemed it was real, and thus why she didn't really think he was lying… Her power indicated he was honest. Thus why she thought he had some personality issue. From what she can guess from Miso, the kids believed their sensei was lying.

"He wasn't lying," she said with honesty. The Genin were now more frightened about their sensei's alter ego. They turned to him with disturbed expressions. Tobi ignored them.

"Enough with these questions," Tobi motioned Chan to the cart, which the boy hesitantly did so and grabbed the handles. "We're taking you to the village."

"Didn't you hear us?" The bulky ninja ran in front of Natsumi, not letting the Konoha take her away.

"It's okay, Masaru," Natsumi smiled to him, and placed a hand on his left shoulder. "I don't want you two getting hurt." She knew they wouldn't be able to handle two Jounin themselves. She was debating to use her powers against the masked man, but her consciousness told her otherwise. Masaru and his partner looked at one another, annoyed to be forced to work with the Konoha ninja.

Mizuki was using a pen, to mark their new destination. Chan was relieved to know their attempt to complete a C-rank mission may be successful after all. Even if the three Genin were now in a good mood, they couldn't help but feel hostility with Natsumi. Even if she was blind, it was hard to look at her the same again. Natsumi could feel the tension the Konoha ninja had for her. Who could blame them? She did use a horrible Ninjutsu on them. Mizuki showed Tobi the map and with a nod of his, everyone began to walk. Tobi didn't care if the sound ninja wanted to fight back from his orders.

The thin ninja stopped rubbing his neck and took a kunai out, ready to attack the masked ninja, but Masaru stopped him by grabbing his arm. The man shook his head.

"Let's do what our lady wants us to do, Shinji," he instructed. He didn't know if Tobi was some kind of dangerous ninja. Having trouble with them wouldn't be wise. The way he took them both down clearly stated he was powerful.

Shinji groaned before putting kunai away. "The Otokage isn't going to like this…"

"There is no Otokage!" Chan butted in rudely. He received glares by the sound ninja, but was simply shrugged off. "I'm just being honest," the boy snickered.

"Let us warn you if you enter our village, the Otokage won't be merciful…" Masaru hissed as a warning. He really thought the Otokage will punish Tobi for stepping in their land without permission. Tobi was just walking to their new destination, completely ignored Masaru's words.

"So why did you lie to us?" Miso was walking close to Natsumi. The boy had a frown on.

"Lie about what?" Natsumi asked quietly, she was feeling guilty.

"Like…why didn't you want us to know you were marrying the Otokage?"

"Because you guys are Konoha ninja," Shinji glared at Miso. "Everyone knows the Konoha ninja would do anything to stop another shinobi village from growing into power. So taking the future bride of the Otokage for ransom is something you guys would do…"

"No we wouldn't," Mizuki looked back at them annoyed.

Tobi muted them all in his mind; he didn't want to think of the hostility others felt against the Great Nations or the Hidden villages. Those things had no more meaning to him. That was all in the past. Even if he was trying to clear his mind off of things, Natsumi was in his mind. The woman had a rare power and was going to obviously marry a strong ninja, maybe even have a respected life. It was actually a good mission to accomplish. If the Sound village actually became one of the great villages, their assistance for them would be taken to account for future peace between Konoha and Otogakure. Naruto would actually be happy with the outcome. His students would be excited too, but for some reason he didn't see it as a good thing. He was frowning behind his mask, irritated. Why was he in such a bad mood?

His eyes shifted to Natsumi who was led along the path by the two sound ninja. Her hands held on the men's arms, her eyes lowered. Why was she upset? Their company shouldn't be so bad. The 'Otokage' should understand why they were with her. For a woman who was getting married to a man respected in a village, she didn't wear the smile a soon to be bride would usually have. Tobi pulled away annoyed, eyes narrowed to the direction he was going to. For some reason, her sad mood was aggravating the man. His jaw tensed as his chest clenched. He shouldn't even care about that. She was simply a human, a customer. The woman had no meaning to him, she was useless, pathetic. The only thing that she held worthy was her unique power…Nothing more. So why was her behavior affecting him?
