P
art 2: 80s/Guilty Pleasure Songs

...

October, 2013...

Austin was getting ready to be the singer at a high school dance in New Jersey. He'd ran a contest several months prior, where several contest winners would get a concert from him, wherever and whenever they wanted after the contest ended. He was dressed in 80s garb, as was the theme of the dance. He walked out on to the stage with an ear mic on.

"All right," Austin said. "Welcome to your school's dance. I'm Austin Moon & your theme is 80s/guilty pleasures night, in terms of the music. I imagine inspired by Glee. Now, if you guys like any of the guilty pleasures, the studio versions will be on iTunes in the next few days, or CDs will be available to buy after the dance is over. The people who planned this dance told me to pick some guilty pleasure songs, including the ones they emailed me about, so I thought to record versions of them. Yeah...anyways, we all have guilty pleasure songs & one of them goes like this..."

He took off the jacket he was wearing, revealing the white 'choose life' shirt the singer of the original version had on in the music video. The lights facing him turned off & the ones behind him turned on, leaving him in silhouette as he did the moves in the video.

Instruments start in...

Jitterbug

(Snaps his fingers)

Jitterbug

You put the boom-boom into my heart,
You send my soul sky high when your lovin' starts
Jitterbug into my brain,
Goes a bang-bang-bang 'til my feet do the same,
But something's bugging me
Something ain't right
My best friend told me what you did last night,
You left me sleepin' in my bed
I was dreaming, but I should have been with you instead

He walked around while clapping his hands.

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go out
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high
Yeah, yeah

You take the grey skies out of my way,
You make the sun shine brighter than Doris Day
Turned a bright spark into a flame
My beats per minute never been the same

'Cause you're my lady, I'm your fool
It makes me crazy, when you act so cruel
Come on, baby, let's not fight
We'll go dancing, everything will be all right

He clapped again as everyone did as well.

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go, 'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go out
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high
Yeah, yeah, baby

(Instrumental)

(Jitterbug)
(Jitterbug)

Cuddle up, baby, move in tight
We'll go dancing tomorrow night
It's cold out there, but it's warm in bed
They can dance, we'll stay home instead

(Jitterbug)

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go,
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go out
Take me dancing tonight
Wake me up before you go-go,
(Don't you dare to leave me hanging on like a yo-yo)
Take me dancing tonight

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go,
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go out
Take me dancing tonight

Wake me up!

The song ended as he went back stage & put on a copy of Michael Jackson's 'Beat It' jacket. The music then started in.

They told him don't you ever come around here
Don't want to see your face, you better disappear
The fire's in their eyes and their words are really clear,
So beat it, just beat it

You better run, you better do what you can
Don't want to see no blood, don't be a macho man
You want to be tough, better do what you can,
So beat it, but you want to be bad

Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right
Just beat it, beat it
Just beat it, beat it
Just beat it, beat it
Just beat it, beat it

They're out to get you, better leave while you can
Don't want to be a boy, you want to be a man
You want to stay alive, better do what you can,
So beat it, just beat it

You have to show them that you're really not scared
You're playin' with your life, this ain't no truth or dare
They'll kick you, then they beat you,
Then they'll tell you it's fair,
So beat it, but you want to be bad

Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right

Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right

The guitarist played the wild guitar solo.

Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right
Just beat it, beat it
Beat it, beat it, beat it

He started doing the dance with a few back-up dancers, then everyone joined in.

No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or who's right

Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right

Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right
Just beat it, beat it
Beat it, beat it, beat it

Just beat it!

The song ended.

"All right. This one's considered a guilty pleasure song, yet I don't know why."

The song started up.

Jessie is a friend,
Yeah I know he's been a good friend of mine
But lately something's changed
It ain't hard to define
Jessie's got himself a girl
And I want to make her mine
And she's watching him with those eyes
And she's lovin' him with that body, I just know it
And he's holding her in his arms late, late at night

You know I wish that I had Jessie's Girl
I wish that I had Jessie's Girl
Where can I find a woman like that?

I played along with this charade
That doesn't seem to be a reason to change
You know I feel so dirty when they start talking cute
I wanna tell her that I love her but the point is probably moot
'Cause she's watching him with those eyes
And she's lovin' him with that body, I just know it
And he's holding her in his arms late, late at night

You know I wish that I had Jessie's Girl
I wish that I had Jessie's Girl
Where can I find a woman like that?

Like Jessie's Girl
I wish that I had Jessie's Girl
Where can I find a woman-
Where can I find a woman like that?

And I'm lookin' in the mirror all the time,
Wonderin' what she don't see in me
I've been funny; I've been cool with the lines
Ain't that the way love's supposed to be?

(Guitar Chords)

Tell me, where can I find a woman like that?

(Instrumental)

You know I wish that I had Jessie's Girl
I wish that I had Jessie's Girl
I want Jessie's girl
Where can I find a woman like that?
Like Jessie's Girl

I wish that I had Jessie's Girl
I want, I want Jessie's Girl

The song ended. He paused for a second before starting to sing the next song.

Shot through the heart
And you're to blame
Darlin', You give love a bad name

The music started, loudly, as everyone rocked out.

An angel's smile is what you sell
You promise me heaven, then put me through Hell
Chains of love got a hold on me
When passions a prison, you can't break free

Oh, you're a loaded gun, yeah
Oh, there's nowhere to run
No one can save me,
The damage is done

Shot through the heart
And you're to blame
You give love a bad name (bad name)
I play my part and you play your game
You give love a bad name (bad name)
You give love, a bad name

Paint your smile on your lips
Blood red nails on your fingertips
A school boy's dream, you act so shy
Your very first kiss was your first kiss goodbye

Oh, you're a loaded gun
Oh, there's nowhere to run
No one can save me
The damage is done

Shot through the heart
And you're to blame
You give love a bad name (bad name)
I play my part and you play your game
You give love a bad name (bad name)
You give love, oh!

[Guitar Solo]

Oh!
Shot through the heart
And you're to blame
You give love a bad name
I play my part and you play your game
You give love a bad name (bad name)

Shot through the heart
And you're to blame
You give love a bad name (bad name)
I play my part and you play your game
You give love a bad name (bad name)
You give love
You give love (bad name)
You give love
You give love (bad name)
You give love
You give love (bad name)
You give love a bad name

Everyone applauded.

The next song started. Austin got a regular mic & set his ear mic down.

"All right. I think this next song counts as both. Here's 'Africa'!"

Everyone started dancing slowly as the song's tempo was slow.

I hear the drums echoing tonight,
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She's coming in, 12:30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way,
Hoping to find some long forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say, "Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you"

It's gonna take a lot to take me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless, longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti
I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

(Short instrumental)

Hurry boy, she's waiting there for you

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
(I bless the rain)
I bless the rains down in Africa
(I bless the rain)
I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
(Ah, gonna take the time)
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

The song's outro played as the scene changed to a few days later. Austin arrived at his house, got out of his tour bus, & entered the building.

To be concluded...
