*NOT EDITED!*
Max's POV
"Hey Max! I love what you did with your hair today! It's to die for!" A girl whom I've never really seen before said. She had a huge goofy grin on as she pushed back her thick rimmed glasses back up her nose. Her raven colored hair curled defied the laws of gravity that it would even make Sir Isaac Newton rethink his theory! Wait; was it Newton who did that thingy with gravity? Or was it- oh that's not the point! But even though her hair was in fact crazy looking, behind those thick rimmed glasses, she really did look pretty.
"Hi" I asked with confusion clear in my voice. She didn't seem to notice or care.
"Is that the new Fan Revolts boots? They're like super expensive and super hard to get!"
"I'm not trying to be rude but what's your name?" I asked wryly. She didn't seem fazed by the fact I didn't know her.
"I'm Delilah but everyone calls me Del." She beamed. I smiled back at her.
"Well Del, is there something I could help you with?" I asked.
"Actually there is something that I need to ask you about." She said, dropping her smile and she looked down, suddenly becoming interested at her feet.
"Sure, just give me a sec. I need to put my stuff up in my locker." I told her. She nodded.
"I'll wait here."
So I did exactly that. I quickly went to my locker, putting my stuff up. It was my free period after all and Ella could wait just a little longer. When I returned, Del was surrounded by Lissa and her minions. She was cowering against the wall as Lissa pulled, more like, yanked her glasses of and one of the blonde bimbos tugged on Del's shirt with a disgusted look on her face. There were even two guys from the football team laughing their heads off as they watched this play off. Everyone watched but nobody dared to interrupt the Queen Bee's work in action. Anger and disgust instantly fueled me.
"Is there something going on here?" I spoke up with a loud confident voice. Everyone turned to face me. Lissa smirked.
"What do we have here? The Maximum Ride wearing a dress and makeup? Honey, not even the entire makeup in the world is enough to fix that" She smirked. I rolled my eyes.
"It sure seems like you tried though" I told her. The nearby students snickered and the two football jocks said their 'oh's!' and 'burn!' Lissa didn't seem fazed though. We've both gotten used to our usual commentary at each other by now.
"Whatever" Lissa said with a flip of her red hair.
"Now tell me, were you or were you not picking on Del here?" I said with the same amount of confidence from before as I crossed my arms.
"Del? Is that this nerd's name?" Lissa smirked as she flicked Del's hair. Del only pressed herself closer to the wall.
"Really Lissa? Are you that low that you have to pick on others to feel better about yourself? I mean, you're already a spoiled brat to the core so this shouldn't surprise me. After all, once a desperate bitch, always a desperate bitch." I said as I walked closer to her. Lissa narrowed her eyes.
"Just because you're suddenly popular doesn't mean you run this school! I do! Know your place Max" She spat my name as if it was venom in her mouth.
"Trust me; I don't want your place. Don't you know how many STD's come with it? Well, since you run this school, it sure seems like it."
"Why you little-"
"Little? I'm a whole head taller than you! You're just wearing a cheap pair of ugly six inch heels. How can you even walk in those death traps?"
"You need to learn to stay out of other people's business" She spat.
"Oh, we're talking about business now? It didn't seem like you cared about business when you tried to blackmail me into handing over Fang since you were incapable of doing it yourself." I smirked. I heard everyone snicker in the background. Lissa's face turned a deep shade of red. If looks could kill…
"Now, leave Del alone. I'm not in the mood for your B.S. right now Lissa. I had to wake up really early for a stupid T.V. interview this morning and I'm pretty cranky and tired." I faked a yawn. Once again, not so hush whispers enveloped us.
"You know what? I don't want crap either! You've asked for it! Hit me with your best shot Ride!" She said as she came closer to me.
"Oh grow up Stone! Accept the truth! Don't be so immature!" Lissa shrieked and literally pounced me. Well, she tried to but I just stepped out of the way and she promptly face planted on the floor. There were echoes of 'oohs' and 'ouch's' all around. As Lissa got up with the help of one of her minions, I went over to Del.
"You okay?" I asked her. She nodded. She opened her mouth to probably thank me but her eyes widened instead and she said "Max, watch out!"
Then instantly I was tackled to the ground. Was it bad that I thought of that one Taylor Swift song as it happened? What? It's catchy!
"No one makes a fool out of me!" I heard Lissa growl on top of me. Me being much stronger than her easily pushed her off of me and stood up. Even though she kicked my legs to try to trip me back down, I stayed put. I'm more flustered than anything at the moment. I just flashed everyone! This is why I dislike wearing dresses! I clenched my jaw tightly, trying to relieve all my frustration.
"What in heaven's sake is going on here?" I heard a voice boom. We all jumped at the sudden voice. Sadly, the voice belonged to Coach Stevens. He's the football coach and man is he mean! As soon as he saw us, his eyes narrowed and I felt a tiny bit of myself die that very second due to fear. Ya, he's that frightening!
"You two! Office. NOW!" He boomed as he pointed two fingers at Lissa and I. Lissa instantly shot to her feet, wearing the same expression as me. We both nodded and started walking the walk of shame to the office. I heard Coach Stevens tell everyone to continue walking before he started walking behind us. I gulped as I felt his eerie presence behind me. How can the football players put up with him? I have to ask Jake later.
"Go in" Coach said sternly when we reached the office doors. We both reluctantly entered. The secretary gave us both looks as she saw Coach walk in behind us. I gave her a slight smile which she didn't return but instead nodded her head to the principal's office instead.
I once again entered the all too familiar office and I spotted Principal Howard sitting at his usual spot behind his desk. His face instantly dropped and glared at Lissa and I. Mostly me though.
"Ms. Ride. You just got done serving a month's detention and yet here you are once again." He said. I shrugged without giving him a proper answer and took a seat in one of the very comfortable black chairs his room provided. Lissa stayed standing.
"I caught these two in the middle of a fight in the hall." Coach Stevens said. This was completely not true. She was the once who had pounced me! But I didn't say anything. I had a plan going on after all.
"We weren't fighting sir." Lissa tried to explain.
"Coach, I would like to talk to these two. Please contact their parents." Mr. Howard said. Coach nodded and exited the room but not until giving us another look of course.
"Ms. Stone, Please take a seat. It seems we have a serious matter to discuss." He said as Lissa sat next to me. I ignored her and focused my attention at the man in front of me.
"You both know very well that this school is quite strict against any form of violence." He continued. "And that both of you will be punished for your obscured actions. We will discuss this farther once your parents arrive." He sighed and walked out of his office leaving Lissa and I alone. He had barely even closed the door when Lissa spoke.
"This is your entire fault Max!" She spat.
"First off, you were freaking bullying a girl! Seriously? And second off, you're the one who pounced me! I didn't even do anything to you!" I exclaimed.
"Nerds deserved to be treated like dirt. They're nerds after all." She confidently said as she crossed her arms.
"Seriously? That's your like motto or something? Well listen. Whores deserved to be treated like that. Whores! The only reasons you have friends is because they're scared of you Lissa. You'll torture them, bully, and threaten them if they don't kiss the ground you walk on. You'd be surprised what people say behind your back."
"At least I have friends. Those freaks you hang out with are a bunch of nobodies."
"Last time I checked, you tried to get with both my brother and best friend!" I told her. I hadn't been really sure what to call Fang. He was much more than just a friend but we hadn't really made anything official. So I guess I just friend zoned him. Hopefully it's only temporary. Lissa opened her mouth but quickly closed it, obviously not having a comeback to my exclamation. We stayed in an eerie silence with tick tock of the clock above the door slightly filling it. The door suddenly opened. My mom was the one who entered. I wasn't the least bit surprised that my mom was going to show up the moment they called.
"What the heck were you thinking Max?" She instantly scolded me.
"Mom-" I try to calm her down but she interrupts me.
"What am I going to do with you? You can't keep into this kind of trouble Max! How do you think this will look on a college application? You need to think before you do!" She said frustrated.
Once again the door opened and this time a lady I quite recognized walked in. She had long curly orange reddish hair that was pinned back into a bun and a black professional looking dress. I met her bright green eyes the same time she did and her face instantly lit up.
"Max? My goodness is that you?" She asked, astonished.
"Krista?" I say with a smile. Even though Krista was forty, she still had the personality of an eighteen year old and she let out a shriek and gave me a gigantic bear hug. I smelled her very expensive perfume as my face was practically slammed into her chest. She pulled away with a million dollar grin.
"Mother? You know her?" Lissa gawked. Mother? Oh please don't tell me…
"Know her? I practically raised her as my own! Oh Max it's been forever! You see I used to be Max's personal fashion designer back when she was really small! Do you still perform?" She asked. I shook my head no.
"Hello, I'm Chloe. Max's mother." My mom introduced herself as she extended out her hand. Krista accepted it with a confused look.
"I'm Krista." She said but then turned to face me. "Did your parents get divorced or something sweetie? Where's Val?" She asked.
I had forgotten that Krista had started becoming famous around one month before my mom's death and she had left before my mom had died. So I assume she didn't know.
"Oh my mom passed away a couple years ago." I said. I knew people were curious on what happened to my mom and I had gotten used to by now so it didn't really bother me. It wasn't really a touchy subject when I was explaining that she was no longer here.
"Oh my! I can't believe it! I'm so sorry for bringing it up." She instantly said.
"It's fine. You didn't know." I assure her. Before anything else could be said, Principal Howard walking in.
"Ms. Myers, Mrs. Stone. Please take a seat. We have a serious matter to discuss. Since there were only two seats, Lissa and I had to stand up and awkwardly stand against the wall.
"Earlier today your daughters were caught fighting in the hallways. As you might know Jefferson High has very strict rules." He said.
"But we weren't fighting!" Lissa interjected.
"Care to explain what was happening then?"
"Well um I was talking to my friend Bell in the hallway when Max walked up and started calling Bell and I names. I told her to stop but she wouldn't and she started laughing at Bell and pulling on her hair and stuff and I just couldn't let her treat my friend like that so I got on top of her to make her stuff but she instantly threw me off with so much force I'm pretty sure I'll have a bruise. She then started making fun of me in front of everyone." Lissa confidently said. Man this girl can really make up a lie fast.
"Her name's Del." I say.
"What?"
"I said her name's Delilah but she likes to be called Del." I say.
"Max! How could you do such a thing?" My mom said, her face turning red. Seriously? After all the things I told her about Lissa, she still believes her.
"Is this true?" Mr. Howard asked.
"Yes!"
"No."
Lissa and I said at the same time.
"Mr. Howard. I have proof that everything Lissa said is a lie. Well except the fact that she pounced me of course." I say.
"And what proof is that?" He cocked a brow. Of course he wouldn't believe me. I was the troublemaker and Lissa was Jefferson High's angel. I pulled out my phone which I had safely hidden in the pocket of my denim jacket.
"I recorded everything on my phone right from seeing her in the hallway to my mom arriving." I said as I handed him my phone. Lissa instantly paled. Mr. Howard played the video and our mom's instantly stood up and joined him.
I could hear my voice telling her to stop bullying Del. I heard Lissa call Del a nerd. I also heard the part that Lissa was asking for a fight and I rejected her. I then heard a thud which was most likely the sound of me hitting the ground when she pounced me after I went and checked on Del. Skipping though the whole part where Coach caught us, we heard the not so private conversation Lissa and I had. The whole thing that nerd's deserve to be treated like dirt and stuff. My mom was furious after the video and Mr. Howard was flustered while Krista staying quiet, her face unreadable.
"What type of school are you running here? This form of bullying should not be happening?" My mom shouted at Mr. Howard who instantly coward in his chair. What can I say; my mom's pretty frightening when she's mad.
"I'm-"
"How long has this been going on? You know how many students this girl could be constantly bullying and getting away with it? We both know that bullying is the all-time high reason of suicides and this girl, God forbid, could have made some poor child's life so miserable that he or she could have ended their life! And it's just not naming calling! It's physical violence as well!" My mom yelled, her face turning a complete shade of red. I looked over at Lissa and her face was completely blank except for the fact that one lone tear slid down her cheek. I looked away.
"Ms. Myers. I'll take this care of instantly. I'm afraid that Lissa Stone is here by suspended from school for a period of two weeks along with anyone else involved in this." He said. He quickly wrote a couple names down and handed me the paper. It had a list of the students that where helping Lissa. "Max, please call these students to my office. Lissa, Max please exit. And Lissa, speak with your teachers with future assignments that you need to do while your suspended."
I nodded and I looked over at my mom who was still scolding my principal and Krista who was giving Lissa a look of disbelief and she shook her head and looked down at the floor. I heard Lissa sob next to me as we walked out.
I ignored Lissa and continued to walk out the main office and down the halls towards the cafeteria. That's where most people who have their seventh period free. This included my brothers, Nudge, and Fang. While Ella and I had it sixth. I think Ari had it fifth but I didn't really notice or care.
"You can't let them suspend me!" Lissa shouted behind me as she tried to catch up to me in her heels.
"And why's that?"
"Don't you know how awful that will look in a college application?"
"I do." I said with a shrug, not bothering on looking back. I entered the cafeteria, thankfully I didn't catch the attention of anyone and I went over, looking for my friends. Lissa had other ideas. As I walked to the middle she once again tackled me down with a gladiator scream. I let out a surprise yelp as my body hit the floor with a thud. This caught the attention of everyone. The whispers instantly began.
"What the freak Lissa?" I say through gritted teeth as I pushed her off. Lissa sat down on her knees. She looked like a mess. Her red hair was a mane around her head and she tears had made a waterfall of black down her face. Her nose was red along with her cheeks making her unusual pale skin even paler. This also made the freckles on her cheeks stand out. I stood up and dusted myself off.
Lissa noticed that everyone's attention was on us and she looked down at her lap. "Sorry" She whispered.
"Well I'm not" I scoff as I look for my friends. I spotted them looking baffled like everyone else at our usual table. I made my way towards them.
"Can't you tell them something?" Lissa asked after me.
"Why would I do that?" I asked as I turned to look at her. She shrugged.
"Look Lissa. I hope that this will teach you a lesson. I'm happy with the outcome. Maybe you'll get some sense knocked into you." I said when I finally reached my friends. I didn't really have to speak up since the entire cafeteria was quiet.
"What happened?" Fang whispered in my ear.
"I'll explain later" I whisper back. I had to admit it felt nice having Fang's face so close to me even if it was only to whisper into my ear.
"By the way, I need Tyler Banks, Matthew Browns, Rachel Dean, Tiffany Parker, Sienna Young, Kelley Williams, and Trina Hollings to report to the office. Just to prepare yourself, you're getting suspended." I say. Everyone oohed as they took the walk of shame out the cafeteria.
"So juicy drama happened?" Iggy asked.
"MAX!" I heard Del chirp as she ran to me. I ya, she had something to talk to me about.
…
Sorry I haven't updated in a while. But like I said, I'm going to update slower.
Question of the Chapter: Do you think that Lissa was punished too much or too little?
My response: I don't know. That's why I'm asking you!
