But you really need to listen to me
Because I'm telling you the truth
I mean this, I'm okay!
(Trust Me)
I'm not okay
.oOo.
"Kal," I turn and see Bren running towards me. I have half a mind to freeze him where he stands but let him approach. I'll freeze him if he says something stupid.
"Kali is the name my parents gave me, you can stutter through the whole thing," I snap and then look at the building holding the apartment Henry's in. After Granny's I've been outside pacing for what seems like an hour. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to think, I only know I really want to murder Cora for setting Regina up. That's what I decided happened. Cora set Regina up so she would go into hiding. Ten bucks says she's dead by now and it may or may not be our fault because we didn't believe her. Our decision was base off strong evidence however.
"Well, Rumpelstiltskin, Belle, and Captain Hook just got in a scrap at the town line. I thought you'd like to know."
"Shit," I cuss and kick the ground, icicles shooting out of the ground at an angle impaling a streetlamp that slowly falls into the street. "What happened?" I ask ignoring my destruction of ton property. It's not like they could lock me up for it.
"I don't know but apparently someone crossed the town line as well," he says.
"Well come on," I mutter.
"Where are we going?"
"Where do you think? Where's your bike?"
"Mechanic's."
"Why is it there? You are literally no use to me," I mutter taking off running above the ground on ice in the direction of the town line. I skid to a stop and end up falling backwards when I see cars racing back to town following an ambulance. I pop up and follow the parade to the hospital as they flood the doors in front of the ER. I jump and land on the hood of the police car as Emma, Mary Margaret and David get out succeeding in making them all jump a foot or two in the air. I jump off the top landing lightly on my feet and smirk at them.
"What happened?" I ask the cheerfulness in my voice not matching my mood.
"Hook," Emma says and I sigh following her into the ER.
I sit in a chair next to Hook's bed and prop my feet up on his bed tossing a snow ball in the air and catching it. I set my feet down and melt the snow ball when Emma comes in.
"Where's Henry?" I ask her.
"He's back at the apartment. Do you think you could watch him?"
"Of course, I need to go talk to him anyway. See you later and make sure he's in pain," I says nodding to the passed out pirate. "Can I have a car?"
"Can you drive?"
"Not very well."
"No." I frown and walk out of the hospital back into town.
"Henry!" I call opening the door to the apartment. I find a note on the island saying that he's gone to the light house and then follow him without a second thought. I see the ten year old sitting outside the studio and raise an eyebrow.
"What's up kiddo?" I ask sitting down next to him.
"Mom didn't kill Archie."
"No, she didn't."
"We need to find her," he says.
"Yes, that we do. But considering it's dark out and only one of us can see clearly in the dark, we will have to wait until tomorrow. What are you doing all the way over here anyways?"
"I was looking for you," he says.
"I meant to find you yesterday but I kind of got whisked away. Someone new crossed the border last night."
"Really?"
"Yep. He hit Hook with his car. We should get home. I haven't slept since the other night and I am actually a dead person walking."
"Can we go back to the house?"
"Sure, I want to sleep in an actual bed," I say getting up setting an arm around Henry.
"Can we go find Mom tomorrow?"
"Yeah. If I wasn't forced to walk around town searching for my ten year old brother we might be going tonight but I can't handle our adopted grandmother when I'm more asleep than awake. I tried it before and it didn't exactly work. I kept passing out whenever I so much as summoned an icicle."
"Really? Why?"
"Apparently I froze something inside of me, I'd guess it was when my idiot little brother decided to take a bit of a poisoned sleeping potion. So really, it's all your fault," I tease.
"Right," he drawled. I freeze when we reach the house. There's a silhouette in Henry's room and it's not our mother.
"Apartment," I say grabbing Henry's arms and leading him into town before whoever it is notices us.
I wake up as soon as I hit the hard ground two knives already in my hands as I look around alert in an instant.
"You know there are beds upstairs," David says and I narrow my eyes at him realizing I'm in the apartment and just fell off the couch.
"Ah, good, you're here too. Kali, it's time to go." I turn to Gold after wiping my eyes giving him a sleepy thumbs up. "I'll see you at noon."
"What the hell just happened?" I ask sleepily running a hand through my hair.
"You froze half our living room?" David offers.
"I've done worse," I mutter waving a hand and melting it all going back to sleep. "Wake me up at 10:30."
At exactly 12:00 I walk back into the apartment freshly showered, and armed with enough weapons to talk on an army. I carry a drawstring bag I stole from Gold's shop one day before the curse broke hoping that it had an expansion charm. I found it today and was pleasantly surprised when it did. It looks like all it holds is my sketch book, colored pencils, charcoal, and drawing pencils but really it holds, two extra changes of clothes, an admirable wad of cash, an extra pair of combat boots, and whatever weapon I couldn't wear. I also put in a thing of lotion because something tells me we are taking an airplane and I heard they are nuts about that stuff. So I also brought a pair of scissors. If I'm ever, really bored, and a plane just falls out of the sky, it may or may not be my fault.
Then again I don't really need my weapons to be a safety hazard. I could just get pissed at the person sitting next to me and accidentally freeze the controls causing the plane to drop out of the sky like a rock. My thoughts are interrupted by three knocks at the door. Emma answers the door and Gold steps in.
"Ready to go?" He asks and I nod.
"Almost, " Emma says messing with her suitcase.
"Do you think we'll be cold were we're going, or warm?" Henry asks.
"You're traveling with me, cold. Always cold," I say winking at him.
"I thought the terms of our agreement were quite clear," Gold says through his teeth. "You owe me a favor, you alone."
"I'm not leaving Henry here with Cora lurking about," Emma says with conviction and Gold looks at me for help.
"I'm with Emma on this one, I agreed to go with you because I thought he'd be safe here, but Cora is loose, I have no idea what the deal is with my mother and I don't trust Mr and Mrs goody two shoes to keep him from being I don't know killed or turned into leverage."
"We'll have to purchase another plane ticket won't we?" Gold says giving in.
"Okay, I've got the lotion and scissors, what else don't they allow on planes?" I ask with a devious smile and Emma looks at me like I just killed a puppy.
"We're not going to spend the day at security. You're not going to cause more trouble than necessary," Emma reprimands noticing I've got a sword strapped to my waste and my katana on my back along with all my rings and necklace.
"Hey I'm bringing what I want on the plane and no one is going to stop me," I say placing my hands on my hips. "But I will put these away," I add taking off my swords and collecting most of my knives leaving the two up my sleeves, I'll put those away later.
"Did you take that from my shop?" Gold asks pointing to my bag.
"Long time ago before the curse broke. Thought it might come in handy," I say with a smug smile. Everyone just sighs and shakes their heads.
"All right Gold, you're going out there with my family, just know if anything happens to 'em-" Charming begins.
"Then you'll what? Cross the town line? And David Nolan will hunt me down in his animal rescue van?" Gold mocks and I bite my lip to keep from laughing.
"I'll be devastated. This isn't a threat. It's a request. Take care of 'em," Charming says and I die laughing at the look on Gold's face.
"I promise no harm will come to your family. After all...we have a deal," Gold says.
"Besides they have me and I can make people into large very realistic ice sculptures when I'm bored," I say with a hint of boredom. "See you people later call me if anything interesting happens. Oh, and Charming? Give this to Regina when she turns up," I say handing him a letter before turning to follow Gold.
"So, where are we going?" Henry asks as we near the town border.
"Logan International airport," Gold answers.
"I think he meant after that," Emma says somewhat annoyed.
"Let's just take things one step at a time, shall we?" Gold says.
"You really think that shawl's going to work?" Emma says dubiously.
"If it doesn't, then the town is probably going to die of frost bite because that means I'll have forgotten I can freeze people where they stand, and it will take me a month and several lost lives to figure out how to thaw someone out," I say bitterly.
"It'll work," Gold says.
"So?" Emma asks us once we pass the town border.
"My name is Rumpelstiltskin, and we're gonna find my son," Gold says with conviction. I however am a much more fun person.
"Who the bloody hell are you?" I ask. "Are you kidnapping me! Help me!" I scream and bang on the windows.
"Scarlet!" Emma and Henry yell while I meet Gold's eyes and give him a wink. He shakes his head and continues to drive. I contemplate how long I'll pretend to forget who I really am as I put on a worried facade.
3rd person POV
The Charming's open the door ready to head out as Regina raises her hand to knock.
"Regina, you're back," Mary Margaret says with a touch of relief.
"I know you think I'm responsible for poor Dr. Hopper's death," Regina begins.
"He's...alive," Charming cuts in.
"What?" Regina gasps surprised.
"You were framed," Snow admits.
"Who would do that?" Regina asks putting on a show.
"Your mother. She's here."
"But that's-that's not possible," Regina says.
"When we found a way back, so did she," Snow says. "We were wrong," she admits. "And we're so sorry."
"I know," Regina says calmly, calm enough to be giving warning signals to the two Charming's but they don't notice. "But if Cora's here, then we're all in danger. Please, you ave to let me see my children. I can protect them."
"Well, frankly, Kali can protect herself," Charming says.
"Scarlet, her name is Scarlet," Regina cuts in.
"And they're not here," Mary Margaret says her lips pressed into a line.
"What? I checked the studio, there's nowhere else they would be, what do you mean?" Regina asks her worry real.
"Mr. Gold asked Emma and Scarlet to help him find his son," Charming began careful to say Scarlet instead of Kali. "And they left town about an hour ago with Henry."
"And no one told me?" She asked dubiously.
"We didn't know where you were," Mary Margaret says. "And to be honest Regina, I don't think Emma has to run anything by you, and Scarlet is legally an adult."
"No I suppose you're right," she says trying not to lash out.
"Kali-Scarlet told me to give you this if you turned up," David says pulling out the letter Scarlet gave him and handing it to Regina. Regina takes the letter and walks away her heels clicking gently against the floor. She stops halfway down the stairs and pulls out the letter which is cold to the touch and not going to warm up any time soon.
Mom,
1.) Don't do anything stupid like trust Cora
2.) There's an outsider in the hospital, gives me a strong sense of deja vu but I don't know why.
3.) Call me, Henry wants to talk to you and I kind of want to as well
~Scarlet
Regina smiled at number three and folded the letter placing it in her pocket. She pulled her phone out as she stepped outside and immediately put it back seeing Cora waiting for her in the car. She'd call them later.
Kali/Scarlet's POV
"I'm Henry," Henry says carefully sticking his hand out for me to shake. I look at it warily hoping my ruse holds up.
"Wh-who are you?" I ask frost spreading across the window for effect.
"You, you don't remember me do you?" He asks.
"A-am I supposed to?"
"I'm your brother, and this is Emma and Mr. Gold is in front of you driving. We're on our way to the airport to find his son."
"Then why don't I remember you?" I ask, dang I should be an actress someday.
"It's a long story," Emma says. "Do you trust us?"
"Why should I?" I ask.
"Because we would never hurt you," she says gently. Should I crack up now? I really want to. No, it's way too funny. I nod and bite my lip to keep from smiling before turning to the window and watching the world go by.
I smile when my bag gets past security without the notice of any weapon or the bottle of water next to the bottle of lotion and pair of scissors. I don't even use lotion I just brought it because I can. Henry bombards Gold with questions after he gets no responses from me. I try not to laugh at Gold goes through security but I know why he is worried.
"You've got to put your shoes in," Emma coaches him and supposedly me but I have two eyes.
"How terribly uncivilized," he mutters doing just that.
"Uh, scarf and cane go in the basket," says a security guard.
"What?" Gold asks.
"Scarf and cane go in the basket," he reiterates.
"I can't," Gold says.
"You have to," Emma says and I just hold my breath taking off my necklace and stepping through the metal detector before putting it right back on. Of course I went through this process often seeing as I forgot my rings. Then my belt, then my earrings. Finally they just pulled me to the side and patted me down which was only very uncomfortable and I had to focus on not turning the guys into ice cubes.
"It ain't rocket science buddy, you ever been on a plane before?" Someone asks as this occurs.
"Have you ever been impaled upon a cane before?" Gold asks easily losing his temper.
"My... father's a little nervous," Emma says coming up with a quick lie. "We're heading to a family reunion, sorry."
"Your father?" Gold asks and I can't help but laugh.
"Okay you're clean," one of the security guards says and then they back off leaving me to grab my stuff.
"Well, that was interesting," I say raising an eyebrow. "Have you ever been impaled upon a cane before? I'll use that." Emma gives me a look and I bite my lip hoping I didn't just give myself away.
"Guys, there's a Cinnabuns here," Henry says excitedly breaking us out of the daze.
"Does he always pace like that?" I ask keeping up my ruse as we wait to board our flight.
"I don't think so," Emma answers.
"And he's your father right?" This one I had to ask. Gold spares me an irritated glance and I smirk enjoying this more than I should but he is letting me pretend to forget.
"I'll be right back," he mutters.
"No, it's a long story," Emma says as he walks away.
"That seems to be the answer to a lot of my questions," I observe.
"Sorry kid."
"That's not my name is it?" Yep, enjoying this too much.
"No, your name is...Scarlet," she answers.
"My name is red? Who came up with that?" I've always wondered why Regina chose Scarlet.
"I don't know, your mother's crazy. That's our flight. Henry can you go find Gold?" She asks changing the subject. I smirk and follow.
"Calm down Rumple, I still have magic, even if you don't," I say softly to him playing with the air around my fingers making ice pop in and out of existence. "And Emma will find Bae, and I will get him to talk to you. Calm down."
"I know, we will find him."
