I Hope You Dance
His eyes scanned the many dancers on the floor, where in the world was she? He couldn't find that fish boy either, what if he was too late? Shaking his head, he quickened his steps as his eyes moved back and forth in search. He couldn't think that way, he needed to only think positive no matter what. He needed to for Raven. Walking the walls, he stopped when finally reaching his goal. "Raven…" He breathed before rushing over to the girl who was currently sitting in a chair, staring out at all the others with a cup in her hands. She looked upset; oh he must have been late.
Her dark, reddened eyes looked at him for a short moment before going back to the dancers, "He kissed me you know…" Her hand tightened around the cup she was holding. "And he tried to get me to leave with some guys." She finished off another cup of punch before crunching it in her hand. "I really am an idiot aren't I?"
Beast Boy slowly sat down next to her, relieved that she hadn't glared or told him to go away. "I see you are still here." He pointed out, scanning her to see what state she was in. She looked slightly angry but her shoulders were trembling.
Raven gave a chuckle but it was clearly dry and humorless, "What should I have done?" A frown soon formed, "Get fucked by four guys and be called a slut?" She threw her cup at him, "What would you know?"
"I know that you should be having fun, not sitting alone drinking away your sorrows." He said, ignoring the cup that hit his head. He leaned back and remained silent as Raven did the same. After a few moments passed, he noticed a slow song. Giving the girl a small smile, he stood. Holding his hand out, his smile grew. "May I have this dance?" He asked, noticing her finally really look at him.
Raven looked at his hand, her arms crossed, "I'm not too good at it, everything's pretty fuzzy and dizzy." She looked up at him, "Promise you won't try to do anything weird? I think I've had enough weird actions today." She mumbled before sighing softly when he nodded. Lightly grabbing his hand, she stood and followed behind as he led her to the dance floor. Hands on her hips, she slowly wrapped her arms around his neck. "I thought you weren't coming, at least that's what Star said."
"I thought so too." He wanted to pull her closer, but knew he couldn't because Raven wouldn't want that. "But a wise man made me realize I had to because if I didn't, I'd make the biggest mistake of my life." He looked at her, her face was flushed, and her steps were shaky. "How much have you had to drink?" It was obvious someone spiked the drink, every year someone did. He may have helped with last years.
She gave a shrug, "A few cups… I can't really remember."Her face saddened before she pressed it into his chest. "My father would be so disappointed in me… I knew what I was drinking yet I drank it anyway." She muffled into his suit. Her fingers were shaky as they grabbed his jacket, her body quivered lightly.
Beast Boy stopped dancing and looked down at her, his eyes softened when she clutched his suit jacket. "Raven… No one is disappointed in you." He cautiously put his hand on the back of her head before wrapping the other around her in a hug. "It'll be alright, I'm here for you."
She sniffed and sighed multiple times before pulling away. Wiping at her face, she didn't care that she messed up her makeup. "Take me home?" She asked, her eyes pleading. "He left after I punched him, I don't know how I'm supposed to get back. He called me a bitch and drove away…" She shook her head as realization hit her hard. "Dad can't see me like this, he'd be so angry."
He grabbed her shoulders, "Calm down Rae, I'll take you wherever you want me to." He sighed softly, "You can stay at my place if you want to, I'll call your father and explain to him the situation, in very light terms." He added, relieved to see Raven calming down.
She wiped at her eyes once more and nodded, she looked just like a little girl if you asked Beast Boy. "Your place… yeah. I like your bed." She nodded again, "Thank you Beast Boy."
He couldn't believe she agreed. Taking her hand, he slowly led her out of the room. Taking her straight to his car, he helped her in seeing she wasn't very capable now. "The alcohol is really starting to get to you know, huh?" Buckling her in, he walked around on his side before getting in.
The drive was quite awkward, Raven was babbling on about everything in her life, good or bad while Beast Boy couldn't help but smile at her and look back at her multiple times as if it were like they were still dating. He missed it.
Once at his house, he looked over to find her staring at him. "What is it?" He asked, brow raising slightly in curiosity.
"Why are you doing this?" She asked, not breaking a beat. "I broke up with you, you should hate me." She pointed out, her face flushed with an expression he couldn't really point out.
He gave a small chuckle, "It's impossible to hate something you love." Getting out, he helped her inside. Taking her to the guest room, he vanished to his room to grab her something to wear. "You left this here… I guess it's a good thing I kept it here." It was a large shirt of his that he had given her when they first got together and a pair of her pajama pants. "I'll go call your dad, you get dressed."
Raven looked at the shirt before the door closed shut. Standing, she frowned as she pulled her dress off. She shouldn't be here; she should be in her own bed doing anything but this. Pulling the shirt on, she groaned when Beast Boy's scent surrounded her. It smelled good, she hated admitting it. Sighing softly, she pulled her pants on. Dropping back on the bed, she looked up at the door when there was a knock. "Come in." She groaned, placing her hand over her forehead gently. She could already feel the headache coming in like a tsunami.
Beast Boy's head peaked in, "Trigon approves." He rubbed the back of his neck, "Just wanted to let you know that so you can sleep peacefully and everything." He added sheepishly before his smile dropped. "Goodnight Raven, sweet dreams."
Raven clutched the blanket underneath her, "Goodnight." She returned in a barely whisper. Covering her head with the blankets, she couldn't help but think about tonight's events and how much of an idiot she has been recently.
He silently closed the door before heading to his room. Walking through his mess in the dark, he stripped and put on his own pajamas before collapsing onto his bed. Tonight was tiring, he hated it. The love of his life was sleeping alone in the room next to his while he had to endure it. It wasn't fair. Rolling onto his side, his eyes closed in hopes that he could just go to sleep.
Time passed, Beast Boy had lost count on how many sheep's jumping over that fence. He was pulled away from his attempt to sleep when the creak from his door filled his ears. He didn't move, he was trying to figure out if it had been his imagination or not.
"Beast Boy? Are you awake?" Raven whispered softly, her heart beating harder than it should have. Could he hear it? Each time it pounded harder in her chest, she swore it got louder. Seeing he wasn't really reacting, she figured her was sleeping. Biting her lower lip, she carefully walked over. She was still woozy from that alcohol; she just needed to be careful.
His eyes widened, why was she still awake? Was she having trouble sleeping too? A loud thump pulled him from his thoughts before a low chain of cursing followed after. He smiled; it seems she fell over something. The stiffness returned when a weight formed on his bed. He wanted to say something but no sound wanted to come out. Feeling the weight move closer towards him, he was surprised when her figure curled up next to his. She had her arms around him. Not the other way around. She was cold, and shaking. His arms hesitantly wrapped around her. "I'm awake…" He whispered. "What's wrong?" He could slightly see her face through the darkness.
Her expression was sad, her eyes were glossing over. He knew that look, that was the exactly look she gave him every time she was upset. He hated it. His attention was drawn back to her when she clutched his shirt. "I'm so sorry."
A/N: That's the end of this chapter. Thanks for reading loves. Next chapter is most likely going to be the last again. I thought of a new story so I want to start on it as soon as I finish Chapter 30 which is basically done. Yeah. Please leave a review and let me know what you all think.
