Note: I do not own any of these characters….except Ardesind. But he's only here a bit. R&R! I'm just having some fun trying my had at FanFic!
Thank you all for your comments and messages :) If not for them I wouldn't post as often as I do. Actually, I probably would have given up and quit by now. So just in case you didn't get that hint, message me! It gives me feel goods and makes me post faster! I'm nearly done writing chapter 33 but I've decided to go dancing tonight instead of staying home and being boring...But when I get home I'll finish it and post it. YAY! Alright. Get to reading! Off you go!
When River came to, it was nearly dark. The pain was mostly gone now and she stood up slowly, heading back over to the rock where she had been sitting before.
She brushed the sand off her clothes and examined herself. There was a small gash her left elbow and a scratch on her cheek from her fall.
I should really find out what that pain is...she thought, realizing that the seemingly random pain attacks could definitely cause some trouble in certain situations.
She cleaned the cuts as best she could and then sat and pondered for another half hour as the sun went down.
She could hear her parents, Canton and herself preparing the small boat for the Doctor and she realized, suddenly, that it was almost time for her to care for him and she still didn't have a plan.
She began pacing quietly, working out a plan.
If she could help it, she'd keep the baby hidden under the protection of the perception filter. The fewer people who knew, the better. But if they refused to trust her, she'd have to show them and explain to them who she really was.
She sighed and watched the light from the flames pierce the darkness. Here goes nothing.
River climbed carefully onto a boulder and peered over the top of the rock pile. She and her parents were heading back up the beach to return to the cafe where they would meet a younger Doctor, alive and well.
She climbed back to the ground and waited a moment or two before stepping out to the water's edge.
She saw the flames die and the Tesalector sit up and begin rowing to shore, scorched and damaged.
A minute or two later the boat bumped up onto the beach and the figure stumbled out and leaned up against a rock, still oblivious to River.
She walked towards it, shaking. This was the machine that had punished her in Berlin. The memory of the short torture she had received filled her with fright but she put on a brave face as the machine noticed her.
It took a step back, recognizing her.
"No. It's okay. I'm not her." River said, stopping and reaching out her hand. "Well, what I mean is, I am her but from the future. I've come to care for the Doctor. He's hurt in there, isn't he?"
"You are Melody Pond. You killed the Doctor."
"I assume I'm addressing the captain?" she said, taking a deep breath.
"Yes. Our records indicate you killed the Doctor. Our mission is to find and punish criminals. You shall be punished." It stretched out it's hand towards her.
"WAIT!" she cried. They weren't even going to give her a chance!
"You don't understand! Let me explain." She ripped off the bracelet.
The tesalector gasped.
