Hey guys! This is the final chapter. If you'd like keep your eyes out after this chapter for some updates and such about other stories.
With that said. Enjoy this last chapter :)
Kendall let out a shaky breath and hugged James closer and let the brunet bury his face in the crook of his neck. The pirate pressed a lingering kiss to his shoulder and Kendall dragged his fingers through James' hair and let his short fingernails gently scratch his scalp.
"You last longer." James hummed and the blond glared softly at him and slapped him on the back of his head. "'Tis a good thing." James laughed and Kendall leaned on him again.
"Are you satisfied?" He asked silently.
"Always when you are with me." James replied and Kendall smiled and tangled their legs together and wrapped his arms around James' neck. "You look thoughtful." The brunet pointed out.
Kendall smiled softly at him and gave a small sigh. "I am thoughtful, dear. I am thinking of you, like you told me to." He explained and James looked at him. "I have dedicated my life to you, James. I am all about pleasing you and you only."
The pirate captain eyed him for a moment and caressed his cheek. "Do you not tend your own needs? Aren't you searching for your own happiness?"
"You are my happiness." Kendall said, like he didn't understand. "Are you not?"
James was flattered that the young prince thought so highly of him. He kissed his lover passionately. Kendall moaned and wrapped his legs around James' waist. "No, no, my love. It's late." James said and pulled away. "You need your rest. Save your strength for another time."
Kendall pouted his lips and gave a needy whine. "Please. One more time." He begged and pressed himself closer to the pirate. "Please..." He pleaded and who was James to deny a god?

On a warm and sunny day, when the sun stood higher on the sky than ever and the wind was still, James noticed how distressed his lover seemed. It was almost as if he was nervous about something. James – for once – sent Carlos to see how the blond was doing. The happy latino walked up to the blond and waved at him. "Good day, your majesty." He chirped and Kendall turned to him and forced a smile. "Lovely day isn't it?"
"'Tis a beautiful day." The prince mumbled and nodded.
"Are you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost." The latino pointed out. "Is everything alright with you?"
"Y-Yes, thank you." Kendall blurted out and turned away. "I am just... thoughtful." He said silently and gazed out over the horizon. "I was thinking about... what I should do later this evening." He mumbled and fiddled with his arms. "I am trying to compose my line of thoughts... and express my love for the captain. I want it to be as beautiful as something he would tell me."
Carlos chuckled. "May I leave a suggestion?" he asked and the blond turned to look at him. "Stop planning and when you see him, tell him what you think of when you are near him." The young prince smiled and nodded.
He glanced over to where James was reading maps. "I will certainly keep that in mind, thank you." He said and Carlos smiled happily and turned to leave the prince alone. "Carlos." Kendall stopped him and grabbed a hold of his sleeve. "I have a request."
"Of course, your majesty." Carlos said.
"It... concerns Logan." Kendall confessed and gulped a bit. "The request is on his behalf, though he might not know of it." He continued and the latino nodded slowly. "It is a lot to ask of anyone but... you are the only one I know would be up for the task."
The pirate nodded again. "I understand."
"I... was wondering if you would... take him into your care." Kendall mumbled and looked embarrassed. "From what I can tell you both are close y-yet... I worry about him." He confessed. "Logan has not seen the world, much like me, but he has never been allowed to care for himself... I fear that he might not know how to."
"So you want me to keep my eyes out for him?"
"I would appreciate it greatly." The prince nodded. "Could you?" he asked.
Carlos nodded. "I will make sure he's safe and well. I'll teach him everything I know." he promised and Kendall smiled at him and thanked him before Carlos left him and the blond walked up to the rudder deck and wrapped his arms around the brunet and hugged him.
James chuckled lowly but didn't move. "Good day, my love." He cooed and looked at his maps. "'Tis early for you to seek me out." He pointed out and Kendall tightened his grip on him. "Is there something on your mind?"
"I love you, James." Kendall said and James turned around and smiled lovingly at him.
"I love you." He said softly and watched Kendall's worried smile grow slightly. "Something is troubling you." He said and Kendall gulped. "What have you seen?" James asked and pulled him close. Kendall gulped and pushed him away. "Kendall." James demanded.
Barely had he been able to ask his lover what was wrong when Woodland yelled out, "Ship on starboard side." Kendall gave a squeak when James took a hold of him. "They are hostile." Woodland stated. "Awaiting orders, Captain."
"Can we get away?" James asked.
"Not without taking a few hits, captain. It would seem like the wind isn't with us." He said and James cursed. "Orders, captain?"
"Do not engage in battle, avoid it if possible." He ordered and furrowed his eyebrows. "Is there something wrong, Ty?" he asked when he saw the pale young pirate. Ty gulped and put his worn telescope down.
He turned to look at the brunet. "It's mages from the north, captain." He said and James' face went pale. "O-Orders, captain?"
James seemed to hesitate and looked down at his lover that looked worried. "Avoid at all costs..." James said and took Kendall's hand in his and dragged him down the stairs.
"No!" Kendall shouted and snaked out of his grip. "I am not going to hide." He yelled. "I am one of the only means of defense you have." he said sternly. "I am not hiding in the cabin." He said and James frowned.
Kendall swatted him away whenever he tried to grab him so James let him be and ordered for a quick retreat. Passing the northern mages was inevitable. The battle was short and the pirates could escape swiftly and had the advantage of the wind, once they had turned the ship. The Tainted Diamond had gotten away with only a few chipped boards and the crew escaped with a flesh woud or two. A success to many as the mages from the north were known for leaving neither ship nor crew alive when they were met. As they were heading farther away from the enemy ship everyone seemed to calm down.
Everyone except the prince.
It was as if he was walking on needles and he kept his silver dagger close at all times. He knew exactly what had happened and he knew exactly what would happen and he was going to stop it before it happened. He had to stop it before it happened.
As clear as day he'd seen the mages from the north, almost one week earlier. He had seen one of them slip into the Tainted Diamond. Kendall had to stop him before what he feared more than anything in the world would happen.
Blades clashing together made him turn his attention to the captain's cabin. James was in there. Kendall had to help him. Kendall had to help him now. The blond dashed into the cabin and found his lover staring the intruder down.
"J-James." Kendall gasped and the brunet's eyes flickered to him for a brief moment. The intruder charged and the blond gasped and shot forward and sliced with his dagger. He missed but James had time to jump away.
The intruder warily watched the two of them, his attention lingered on the brunet. He cursed at them in a foreign language and charged again. Kendall blocked it again and gasped, pushing James aside. The intruder hissed and threw his weapon at them. Kendall blurted out curses and waved his hand towards the man, that turned pale before falling to the floor, wheezing, skin fizzling and limps cramping.
"Dear Lord..." James sighed and watched in disgust when the man seemed to dissolve on the floor. The mage's surprisingly burly figure quickly turned into nothing more than a greenish dust that slipped away through the tiny cracks in the wooden floor. James shook his head. "What was he-"
James did not have time to finish his sentence for his lover gave a gagging sound and tumbled over. James caught him just as Carlos and Woodland came bursting into the cabin. "Captain, we heard-"
"No!" James shrieked and held his blond lover. "No, no, no." He chanted and gingerly let his hands hover over Kendall's wounded chest. The long slit in the pale flesh ran straight across his green diamond shaped mark over his heart. "No, please no." He whined and Kendall gulped and looked up at him.
"It is... all right, James." He said softly.
"It is not!" James yelled. "Kendall, no." He said and picked the blond up and carried him to the bed. "No, no. This is not happening." He cried and Kendall smiled up at him.
"'Tis alright." He said.
"Why did you do it?!" James shouted and shook him. "WHY?!" He yelled and Kendall pointed at the weapon lying on the floor under the table. Carlos hurried to pick it up and brought it too him. James eyed the dagger, it had runes carved all over the dark metal. On the blade blood – stained with golden specks – made the runes glow weakly.
Kendall pointed at the runes. "They kill anything that is human." He explained and James looked down at him. "Even you, my love." He continued and brought his hand up to James' cheek. James frowned and took a hold of the prince's hand.
"You saw this." He stated. "You saw it before it happened, didn't you?"
The young blond smiled. "I saw you dead before me." He said. "I was hoping to save you but... it would seem like my skills in battle were not enough to help myself." He said and shook his head. James leaned down and kissed him.
"Don't die." He begged.
Kendall took his hand. "Not quite yet, love." He said and James let out a big breath.
"Woodland. I need you in here now. I want his wound cleaned out and wrapped up right away. Carlos tell the crew to search the rest of the ship and make sure we get as far away from here as we can." James ordered and the two pirates nodded and hurried to follow the instructions.
James did not leave Kendall's side. Not when his crew needed him outside. Not when Kendall told him to tend to his ship. He refused to leave and told his crew to keep things up for him.
"I am sorry, James..." Kendall said weakly and looked at their intertwined hands. "This is for the better." He said softly. "That blade would have killed you the moment it touched you and I could not stand to see that future come true."
"You shouldn't have..." James whimpered. "My love, you shouldn't have gone in between." He said and hugged the blond close. "It was meant to be, my love. It was meant to be me and not you." Kendall smiled tiredly at him.
"No, James." He said. "'Twas not you." He murmured and ran his fingers over James' hair. "I have awaited this day for a long time... 'Tis my fate and... my duty."
The brunet cried and shook his head. "You are the humans hope. You should not have given yourself up for me." He cried but Kendall silenced him and smiled lovingly at him.
"I dedicated myself to you and your love, James... I have always been meant to give myself up for you." He said and gulped. His lips trembled and a few tears escaped his eyes.
"Do not leave me." James pleaded.
"James..." Kendall said. "My body is still human. I will have to leave it sooner or later."
"Where will you go?" James asked.
"To take my rightful place in heaven."
"Then take me with you." James pleaded. Kendall frowned. "Take me with you, Kendall. Do not leave me. Don't you dare leave me behind. Not after all this." James yelled. "I will not be able to live a day without you. My heart will break."
Kendall shook his head. "It will not."
"It will." James persisted and shook his head. "Oh, love. Why are you breaking my heart?" he asked. The blond did not answer.
"Bring Logan to me." He said. James didn't know what to do but to call for the former servant that timidly made his way into the cabin and gasped seeing his prince lie wounded on the bed.
"M-My prince!" He exclaimed and hurried to Kendall's side. "Oh, my prince. You are badly wounded."
Kendall nodded. "Deadly, in fact." He said lowly and reached out and grabbed Logan's arm. "Logan, I have something to give you and a favor to ask." He said. Logan nodded. "I need you to give this to my sister." He said and reached in under his coat and pulled out a small glass orb from within it. "It is very important that she receives it for it will bring her kingdom the wisdom it needs." He explained.
The raven haired boy took it in his hands and looked at it. When he gazed down at it he could see the path he should take to solve his problems and find what he was looking for. "I will make sure she gets this, your majesty." He promised.
"And Logan?" Kendall said and gulped. "I am sorry." He got out. "I know that you were only doing what you were told... I am not angry with you. My forgiveness is yours if you still wish for it."
"M-more than anything, my prince." Logan said meekly and bowed his head. He was frowning and tears were rolling down his cheeks. "Oh, how it pains me to see you like this..." He said. "If only there was something..." He stopped himself. "Thank you, my prince. I will never forget you."
"Nor I you." Kendall said and Logan bowed before him and kissed the prince's forehead before leaving the cabin. "I wish for nothing more." Kendall said. "Tell the men that... I do not want their farewells."
"Yes, your grace." Woodland – that was still present – said and bowed. "I will leave the two of you." He said softly and wandered out of the cabin.
James frowned and hugged his lover close. The marks on his body was fading away and the tree on his back had started to wither. Kendall kissed his cheek. "I have something for you as well, my love." he said but frowned. Tears welled up in his eyes before he continued. "I have something for you but I am afraid of giving it too you for I know already what you will do with it."
The prince's hands were trembling when he reached up and grabbed the medallion he wore. "You gave this to me... as a promise." Kendall said and took it off. "I give it back to you with my blessing."
"Kendall..." James said and shook his head, tears were spilling from his eyes and staining the white sheets they lied on.
"My last deed..."
"Kendall..."
"My love, I know that you have been wishing for one thing for more than a lifetime." Kendall said and breathed in a shaky breath. "With what I have... I will lift the curse you were once put under. I will take the gift you were given and take the burden from your shoulders."
James' eyes widened. "You do not mean it."
Kendall carefully threaded the thin chain over James head and the brunet gasped. His fingertips were tingling and a warmth flooded through him. It was as if power surged through him. Power the prince had absorbed during their many nights together. The blond smiled at him and took his hand. "I mean it." he said and lead James' hand to his chest. The brunet felt his heart beat steadily in his chest. "I am sorry for not being able to do more."
"You do not have the right to be sorry, for you have filled all my needs." James said and cupped the prince's face in his hands. Kendall smiled weakly at him before he started to weep.
"Oh, James..." He sniffled. "I do not want you to be here... when it happens." He cried. "Please, leave me be... I do not want you to see..." He whimpered and suddenly he wasn't the royalty he was raised to be. He wasn't a god to look up to. He was a young boy – merely seventeen years old – lying on his deathbed, scared of what was yet to come.
"I am not going anywhere." James said and shook his head. "I promised you that you wouldn't have to live a moment without me, love." He said and wrapped his arms around the blond and kissed his sweet lips. Kendall whimpered and nodded.
"I have not." He whined. "You have always been there and rarely, if ever, left my side... I love you." He said silently and attempted to lift his arm – that had gone numb – to wrap around James.
The brunet kissed the top of his head and took Kendall's limp hand and wrapped it around himself. "I know you do. And I love you more than anything in this world." he cooed. "More than my ship, my adventures... I love you more than I have ever loved the open sea." he confessed and wiped his own tears away. "You will not have to live a moment without me and I do not have the power to live one without you."
"Stop, please..."
"I'll never stop loving you and us, love, not even death can do part." James told him and hugged him. They were both crying and holding each other – though Kendall was so weak that he could barely do so.
Kendall shook his head and looked up at James. "Do not throw away your life. Not on someone like me..." He pleaded. "You could live a normal life."
"I have already lived for far too long, my love. But I am ready to draw a last breath. A shared one with you... for the life we shared." The brunet said and kissed the back of Kendall's hand. He drew his dagger from it's sheath and gripped it in his hand.
The blond gave a sigh. "Oh, James... We never got the chance to share a life... I was never meant to have one. From my birth my fate has been set. My place is not on earth." He said and James smiled at him.
"Then neither is mine."
"You could live."
"Living is not worth it if you are not with me." James said. Kendall gave a sad chuckle and nodded. "Rest easy, my love. For I will hold you until it is over and I will seek you out in heaven. Will you meet me by the golden gates of the end of the world?" he asked and Kendall nodded.
He nodded his head that felt heavier by the second. "I'll be waiting, James. I will be waiting for you. I will wait forever if I have to. I will wait for you to hold me in the life after this." He said and began to cry. "I love you."
James nodded and cried as well. He held his lover in a tight embrace until silence fell over the cabin. Not even the waves, the wind nor the creaking of the boards sounded. "K-Kendall?" James stuttered and cried into the prince's hair. "My love?" he asked and tightened his grip on his lover. "Kendall?" he asked but got no answer.
It felt as if his heart was caving in on itself and he clutched his hand over his beating heart. "It beats for you, love." He said and looked down at Kendall. "Every heartbeat is for you." he said and shook his head.
The pirate captain cried. He wailed his sorrows out and hugged his lover. It was Carlos who dared to peek into the cabin. James did not look at the door but he knew that it was Carlos and he waved for the latino to come closer.
Carlos walked slowly over to his captain. "Captain..." He said sadly. "I-... I'm so sorry."
"Carlos, my friend." James said softly. "I do not indent to remain." He said without taking his eyes off of Kendall. He stroked his hand over the blond's pale cheeks and twirled his hair between his fingers. "Take this to Woodland." He said and loosened his belt – along with his golden pistol his jewel decorated sword – and threw it to Carlos. "He is captain now."
"But captain-"
"Carlos, promise me..." James interrupted. "Promise me that you will keep your love sacred." He said. "If it is true do not waste it. Waste no time." He said and the latino nodded. "I have done nothing but waste time." James said sadly.
"You are old, captain."
"Ar." James said. "I am very old, my friend... It is time for me to go. I will follow my love wherever he goes." He said and Carlos frowned. "Do not weep for I will watch over you, Carlos." James said. "I will watch over you like I have done since the day I found you." He said.
Carlos nodded. "Y-You will be missed, captain." He said.
The brunet gave a tired chuckle. "It's James now, my friend. I am not your captain." he said and Carlos gulped.
"You will always be." He said and James smiled at him before turning back to his lover.
"You best be off." James said lowly. Carlos hesitated but left the cabin and James was all alone. "My dearest love..." he sighed and leaned down and pressed his lips against the prince's. "I will join you in the life after this. Please, remember my face. Remember my lips and their touch." he said and stroked his hand over Kendall's jaw. "Remember the sound of my heartbeats." He said and hugged him closer. "Remember those things so that you will know when I am standing outside the heavenly gates, waiting for you..." He cooed and gripped his dagger in his hand.
He brought it to his chest and held it over his heart. "I love you." he whispered before sinking the shiny steel into the firm flesh. "I love you."

Logan gave a sigh when he looked up at the large white statue in the middle of the courtyard. The statue was surrounded by green plats, pink roses and a bush of pink roses was planted underneath it and framed the two sculpted bodies up on the pedestal and surrounded them with a small wall of thorns and flowers.
The former servant gave a sigh and adjusted the pin on his chest. It was a small green diamond framed with golden leaves, tainted by tiny shards of red and blue gems. It represented the royal court in the Green Province. What had once been Red had faded to Blue and eventually grown Green.
"My lord, you are being requested before the throne." A young woman said and bowed her head at him. Logan turned to her and smiled softly.
He walked up to her and put his hands on her shoulders. "Camille, do we not know each other?" he asked. "You do not bow for me, for we are equals."
"Y-Yes, my lord." She stuttered and Logan gave her a crooked smile and dismissed her. He looked back at the statue and read the text – that he had read a hundred times before – written in the white marble.
Here rests the two lovers. The god and the human, that proved that love has no boundaries and that loyalty and love follows us into death and lingers in our souls. Prince Kendall, of the Blue Kingdom and King James, of the lost Red Empire. Here they lie in a land united by the two, that blossoms from the blessings they gave.
Logan sighed and turned his back against the statue. "How come I always find you out here?" A soft voice asked and Logan smiled to himself. "The queen has asked for you." Carlos said and walked over to the raven haired man.
"I needed to collect my thoughts. This place brings peace to my mind." Logan said and Carlos walked over to him and kissed him sweetly on the lips.
"My, my. I do not ever think I will be used to be called 'lord'." Carlos cooed. "The servants are driving me up the walls." he said and Logan laughed softly. "Were you that eager to serve?" he asked and Logan nodded his head.
"I was worse, I'm afraid." he confessed.
The latino took Logan's hands in his and smiled at him. "You need to go, now." he said. "You shouldn't keep the queen waiting." He said.
"Whatever would the Green Province be without me?" he sighed and Carlos laughed and wrapped an arm around him and lead him towards the gates.
"Lost, Logan." he said. "Withered away." He added. "The queen wants to discuss the anniversary of her brother's passing." He said and Logan sighed. "Five years, is it?"
"Yes." Logan said. "Five long years..."
Carlos smiled at him and nodded. "Let's not linger then. Celebrate those who shall be celebrated." He said and opened the door for Logan. "For Kendall and James." He said and Logan nodded and took Carlos' hand and squeezed it.
"For the Prince and the Pirate."
