A childish scream rang out as Scorpius ran for the stairs. He was so enticed by Rose's clear jesting that he nearly tripped over himself in the process. And for a girl that was pretending to play coy, Rose's squeak turned quickly to a loud belly laugh as she waited for him on the landing. Watching him approach she braced herself on the stone wall, taking stock of the boy she'd previously been without. His typically starched shirt was unbuttoned and tugged to one side. His usually messy hair was somehow even more so and he did it no favors when he once again ran his hand through it, almost in warning. Scorpius' skin was pink and hot but the smile he wore, even as he seized Rose's waist and lips, made the entire moment much gentler.
Everything melted away, as skin temperature grew and the two kissed themselves dizzy. Rose was sure her hair mimicked Scorpius' as he ran a hand through it, doing his best to angle her face upward but finding his fingers enjoyed massaging her scalp just as much. It helped that the sensation made Rose moan, just as everything seemed to currently do. She swore she was on fire and Scorpius was doing absolutely nothing to extinguish that feeling in her belly or the way her legs shook when he snogged her. Only heavy panting could be heard filtering down to the empty common room when the pair finally managed to detach. But it was only for a moment before Rose was running up the stairs with Scorpius just a step behind.
Their arrival in her bedroom was announced by the door falling immediately shut behind them. The room was cold, causing the moment to slow down. Scorpius took a tentative step into Rose but did not touch or kiss her. Instead he grabbed for his wand from his back pocket and muttered a light Incendio toward the hearth. A crackling fire immediately sprang up and then he was back in her arms again, his hands like anchors on her back, keeping their waists touching while different strips of skin became reacquainted.
Rose was utterly enamored by Scorpius' adam's apple, watching and then even feeling it move as his mouth left her lips and began adoring different options. Her chin was first, then a feather-light path was kissed across her jaw. He stopped only so his teeth could give a gentle tug on her earlobe and when Rose's mouth fell open and her nails dug into his hips, he leaned back, finding he didn't have to search her features long. A look that could only be described as ignited split itself between increasing Rose's confidence and encouraging her own hunger. The girl that used to be incensed by the daring things Scorpius would sometimes say was now sparked by a different part of him. Suddenly pads of fingertips and swollen mouths were not enough to convey just how much she loved, needed, and wanted him.
"Your shirt," she nudged with her nose.
Scorpius didn't want to separate and in a way, Rose didn't give him much room to. It was an instruction but in the end it was Rose's hands undoing each plastic button, that same touch pushing the cotton off his shoulders so he could shrug out of it.
Scorpius wasn't finished tossing the item to the floor when he looked to Rose and saw her fumbling with her own jumper. He was all too happy to help, especially when the removed item revealed Rose in such a vulnerable way. The nearby fire painted Rose's ginger hair into streaks of blonde and red. She was a mess and it was beautiful, and Scorpius told her as much as he kissed her once more. He couldn't help but to close his eyes at the sensation, especially when Rose's fingers slid along the patch of fuzz just above his jeans and her tongue scraped against the roof of his mouth. He wanted to see her, to see what he was doing to her, but feeling, tasting, and just being with her took precedence.
"Fuck, you're stunning," he growled before moving in to suck on her clavicle. Surely his lips had left a mark, their first prize of the night, but Rose was lost in the sensation of his fingertips, rough and calloused from the hours he spent on his broom, especially lately, and how they tickled her skin as they made quick work unbuttoning her shirt. Where Rose's stomach would previously shy away from Scorpius' touch as he explored, she stood firm before him, her lungs causing her chest to heave with each passing breath.
"What?" Rose asked, with arms that awkwardly attempted to cover her chest.
"Nooo," Scorpius cooed, moving her hands. Her bra was white and simple and contrasted perfectly with the smattering of freckles that moved and changed as they disappeared beneath the cotton. She was paler than she had been over the summer but he loved her just the same, especially when she was shy like this. It gave him a moment to collect himself, to remind himself that this was real, and to memorize how she eventually bared herself to him.
"I missed you, s'all," he whispered into her skin. Scorpius pressed a strong kiss to the hollow of Rose's neck, inhaling her. She was spurred on by his touch and the way he tasted her, acting as if on instinct in the way she reached behind herself to undo the clasp behind her back. One of Scorpius' hands was resting on her rib cage and he felt the item shift. Then when he looked up, Rose appeared proud and wearing a minx-like smile. It did not diminish or fade as she let the straps fall off her shoulders and down her arms. In fact, the minute she was bare-chested before him, Rose let out a carefree giggle.
"Stop staring," she purred in a way that revealed her want for the opposite.
Her skirt was next and Rose didn't take her eyes off of Scorpius as she undid the zipper at her hip and let the material fall down her legs to pool in a halo at her feet. This was as naked as he had ever seen her and when Rose didn't make a move for her wool socks Scorpius wondered for a moment if this would be the extent of things. They'd been so close to here so many times before so it only made sense for things to be stunted. But then she smiled and Scorpius practically saw the invitation behind her eyes, each twinkle like a whisper of I trust you.
Scorpius lazily kissed her cheek, laughing into her skin as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders. All of the feeling from that summer, those early tentative nights spent breaking the rules and the quiet, secret afternoons where both were too afraid to discuss the future because they didn't want to interrupt the present, came flooding back to her to mix with this one. She would have stayed in Scorpius' arms forever if he had let her, or if neither of them had the urge to shift as the moment was instantly returned to seriousness.
"What?" she choked out.
"Nothing," Scorpius swore, shaking his head. Just as Rose had done, he reached behind him, only to retrieve the delicate golden necklace he had placed in his back pocket earlier. "Here," he offered, unclasping it and separating the strands so they could meet at the nape of Rose's neck. Rose did not hesitate. Her eyes were locked upon his as he adorned her in his gift and the bud of the rose he'd spent so many nights designing, pointed downward through the valley of her breasts toward her belly button.
Rose reached up to touch it but their eye contact did not waiver. "It's really beautiful, Scorpius."
He nodded and pecked her lips. "Like you."
Rose giggled and pushed at his shoulders. "Shut up."
"Make me," he bit back and Rose laughed again, rolling her eyes because she had predicted his very response. She silenced him with her lips and with nails that dug into the muscles of his shoulders, as she stood on her toes and did her best to bring them back toward her bed.
Her knees hitting the mattress gave Rose's hands the permission to move south, immediately undoing his belt. Scorpius was too distracted by her mouth to aid her in her pursuit and the fumbling tickled in the most delicious way, making the possibility seem moot anyway. It also didn't help that she now had undone his zipper and reached her hand into his briefs to stroke his length. Scorpius' mouth fell from hers and he practically collapsed against her, losing his breath over her shoulder. Scorpius swore he could feel her smile into his skin as she shimmied his trousers off his hips. He broke away only to step out of them completely. It was the first moment of pure awkwardness as Scorpius stumbled out of his jeans. It was quickly lost when he stood before her, both nearly naked. It all felt too real. Rose wanted to cover herself, suddenly feeling quite shy.
Scorpius' breath hitched at the sight of her before him, all of her covered in freckles, the fact glaring with him just as naked. "Fuck you're stunning..." he gruffed in promise. He could tell it was taking everything in her to be with him like this so he reached forward and kissed her fiercely. His free hand snaked down to pull her close, using her bum to do so. He tasted the way she laughed into their kiss and he smiled too - happy.
Their bodies rolled against one another, pushing and pulling. The current flowing through them short circuited when Rose reached down, dipping her thumbs into his briefs to coax the cotton off his hips. He paused and watched. He wanted to help her but he was too turned on, watching as she dragged the material downward. His cock retaliated against the constraint, springing back up, and she chuckled. His cheeks burned red but her laugh turned to a smirk and she stepped back, sliding back onto the bed as if in offering. He slid on top of her and the two lost themselves again - kissing, touching, exploring.
With Scorpius atop her Rose saw his length in context, stretching nearly to her belly button. It terrified her and yet she wanted it the way she'd never wanted anything before. Steadfastly she returned to kissing him, using each nibble, caress, and lick as encouragement. Neither knew how long they'd snogged but when it ended it was as if they came to a mutual agreement.
"Go on," she nodded, her voice barely audible.
Rose's eyes turned dark as she felt Scorpius finally reach out to touch her. Her body was foreign to him in so many ways and yet her hips jolted when he touched her there. He laughed into her shoulder, spurred on as she dug her fingernails into his back. "Tell me what feels good."
"It all feels good," she promised breathily, almost unable to speak. She was growing impatient, still slightly embarrassed, especially as her body began to tingle against his touch.
He pulled away and Rose wondered what she looked like, laying flat beneath him, naked and nervous. She felt nothing but his breath on her neck as she once again reached down to touch him.
She was asking and Scorpius was still so trepidatious. He'd been here a million times before and yet it was as if this was his first time too.
"Rose—"
She reached up to palm at his cheek. "I love you."
He smiled and kissed her lips. "I love you too."
There was silence, filled by ragged breathing, as Scorpius positioned himself atop her.
When he didn't move, Rose tensed. "Scor? Is something wrong?"
"No, not at all, I just...I'm nervous."
"What? Why?"
"Because it's you."
Rose softened, running a hand upward to push back at the hair falling on his forehead. "I'm right here."
"I know...that's the problem," he quipped.
She giggled and asked for a kiss. His confidence returned when she reached out, helping to guide him toward her. Scorpius ran the tip of his member up and down over her outer lips. It was an attempt to test her readiness but also a chance for her to back out but Rose did not hesitate. In fact her hands moved up to his biceps, asking for more.
He pushed inside of her at the most agonizingly slow pace, pausing every so often to gauge the look on her face.
"Keep going."
"Are you—"
She nodded quickly, releasing the grip her teeth had on her lip begrudgingly. "I'm fine. I promise."
He kissed her, distracting her as he slowly settled all the way in. He felt her tighten around him but soon her eyes were open and she was spurring him on. It was slow at first, with their mouths doing much of the work while Scorpius made small thrusts toward her. When he felt her finally relax he reached down to touch her clit. He could feel her wetness and it acted as encouragement for him to be more bold, still moving slowly but filling her to the hilt.
She moaned into his neck and soon her heels were digging into his shins, asking for more. His mouth adored her neck and chest as he felt his orgasm near. He wanted so badly for her to join him there but he knew it was unlikely. Amongst many other reasons, this was the one that he thought of most each time Rose pushed him away. It was as if Scorpius knew they'd be here eventually and he'd look selfish and smug as if he hadn't wanted her to feel good all along. But in the moment all he could do was vow to learn her body, hating himself for not being able to bring her pleasure in the way she did for him. Even so she nearly cried out when he spilled himself into her, pistoning one last time, causing her to mew out a sigh.
Scorpius was spent but he waited. He wasn't ready to let go and the way Rose held him to her chest had him thinking she didn't mind the way his weight pressed into her. Wishfully he wondered if she enjoyed it more than he expected.
They laid in silence. Rose felt Scorpius go limp inside of her, mimicking the way her limbs felt like jello, all of her completely enervated as he rolled off of her. She grabbed for her wand and muttered a light Scourgify. The small wet spot beneath them disappeared but she did nothing to clean the wetness between her legs. She wasn't ready to let him go and as he brought a blanket to them she was happy he wanted to remain close.
"Are you sure—"
"I'm fine, Scor," she vowed. Rose hated feeling weak but she also cherished how gentle he was, just as he always had tried to be. Sore and sated, she exhaled. "Perfect, actually."
~!~
The middle of the night found them laid before the fire. Rose had watched a very naked Scorpius levitate her mattress down to the floor. When her eyes and open mouth told him what her lips would not, Scorpius immediately joined Rose on the makeshift bed, attacking her neck with silly, wet kisses. When they grew cold again Rose moved to pull the covers from the floor by the window and finally it was Scorpius' turn to state. As she sat upright before him now, her front covered by a thin sheet but all of her back revealed fully to him, Scorpius decided this was his new favorite vision of her. The curve of her spine, interrupted by slight dimples, disappearing into a curved bottom — yes, he quite liked this new side of Rose.
But for as much as they tried, just like that day in the room above the Leaky Cauldron, this world they had created was merely temporary. All of life would not and could not be spent separated from reality, no matter how cozy their makeshift bed seemed. As the moon crested and then slowly began its descent, the truth felt closer and closer. Each kiss to a temple or forehead, or each caress upon sensitive skin, was a reminder that not only was this temporary but that it was fleeting as well.
"I'm sorry, Ro," Scorpius cracked through the silence. There it was again and he must have dreaded the words as much as he needed to say them because his gaze remained affixed on the ceiling above.
"Why are you sorry? I'm the one who freaked out. I'm sorry," she assured, laying her head back on his chest. "I don't even know what I was thinking...it's like I wasn't. I was just acting and saying things and—I don't know where any of it came from. Then I didn't know how to apologize. I was embarrassed, really."
"You were embarrassed?" He chuckled. "I was the one you tore apart in the entrance hall."
Rose dropped her head down to his chest and groaned.
"I deserved it," he conceded as he pinched her side. "I got defensive. You know how I am with my family…it's complicated."
She looked up to him again. "Have you talked to them?"
"My mum, yeah. Not my dad. I don't know what to say...I don't know why I stick up for him."
"Because he's your father and he's good to you."
"Is he?"
"Leaving me out of it, isn't he?"
"Does it matter though? What weight does it hold if the person who is good to you can't be good to anyone else?"
"He's good to your mum."
"Why are you sticking up for him?"
"I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. He's your father and whether you like it or not you love him. I think he is good to you. You know his intentions are good. I don't…" Her voice trailed off, allowing her to take a sharp mental turn. "Do I think he did what he did to upset you or even me? No, I don't."
"You can hate him. It's okay."
"It's not though. I imagine that'll get very exhausting after awhile. You're not going anywhere so he's going to be in my life for awhile too. Why create that riff if I don't have to?"
"He has created that riff, love."
"Not between us. I won't let him. If we're going to argue...and unfortunately it's going to happen...it needs to be about us. I was angry and upset and I pushed you away. Then things settled and you were the only one I wanted. I just cried and cried, Scor. The newspapers were being so mean and all I wanted was you to hold me and make me laugh…"
"I thought you hated me."
"I hate our circumstances. Sometimes. A lot lately," she shrugged, rolling her eyes as well. "We needed to know the truth and now we do. We knew it wasn't going to be easy. We couldn't control those things but we can control us. How we react to things. What happens from here."
"I'm not ashamed of you. Or us. I love you with everything in me, Rose," Scorpius promised. The arm he had around her back, keeping her close, gripped her shoulder in consolation. "I don't care about who your parents are and if I could change things I would. I just...I need you to believe in this. I know it's hard but if we don't, who will?"
Rose nodded, then tossed away her hair so she could return her attention to the dwindling fire. When Scorpius waited and she still didn't speak, he knew she was crying and it was only moments before he'd feel that warm sadness upon his chest.
"You're right," she finally squeaked out.
"I'm going to make this work. I don't know how but I will. You are the only thing in life that makes me feel sane and safe. If my dad has a problem with that then it's his problem, not mine. I can't take back what I've said or what we've done. I don't want to. I want a million more nights like this one."
Feeling powerless, Rose nodded again. Scorpius angled her chin toward him so he could press a tender kiss to her lips. Her tears were hot on his skin now, growing cold only when the pads of his thumbs attempted to wipe them away. "Please don't cry, love."
"I love you, Scor. Sometimes it just feels like the world is against us. I'd spend the rest of my life in this room with you but it's not realistic. I'm just terrified that I'm going to lose you."
"You're not—"
"I don't think it's up to us."
He nearly choked on her words. "Ro, don't say that."
"I just mean—"
"No. It is up to us," he stated strongly. "You have to believe that."
It took a moment but Rose conceded to a nod. "I promise I'm trying."
"You are my world, Rose Weasley. And if our world can't accept this then we'll make our own. All I know is I'm going to make this work. We're going to make it work."
I can't believe I made you wait TWENTY-NINE chapters for this. I am so so sorry because it absolutely could have been better but I hope it was at least a bit worth it...if only because you've patiently waited so long. Honestly, I'm impressed.
Please, please, PLEASE review! I'd love to hear what you think.
