Korras POV
I felt my head pounding as I opened my eyes. I could hear music, and I remembered the party and also sneaking out the back. I remember Mako coming down... I can't remember how I got off the ice. I couldn't have fallen! That would have been way too embarrassing.
I looked around my bed and saw Mako near my feet and I moved to sit up and he responded instantly. He moved a pillow behind me as he told me to just sit back and relax and not to try and get up.
"What happened? I didn't fall did I?" I asked him and he gulped and shook his head. "Someone attack?" I asked and he shook his head before looking towards the door and I watched two figures come closer until a candle lit up their face. "How is that...?"
"Possible?" My mom asked and moved closer but I flinched and was about to get up when Makos Hands warmed my back. "You're the avatar Korra. We knew that since you were 3 years old moving rocks and your bath water and keeping the house warm with your fire."
"You're dead." I told her, and then looked to my dad. "You both are." I had to have hit my head when I fell on the ice.
"No, we were never dead. We had to protect you. And Lin was the best choice."
"Lin knew you were alive?" I asked and I felt Mako start to rub my back. "Where is everyone?"
"Pema and the kids went back to the party so Bo and Asami wouldn't come looking. Tenzin and Lin should be just outside." He told me and I just nodded and moved to get up. He held out his hands for me to take and when my legs still felt like jelly he supported my weight.
"I need to sleep." I whispered and he moved to set me back on the bed.
"Korra... we had to. It was for your own good. Lin didn't know we were alive until you showed up here. We had to tell her and Tenzin and-"
"Get out." I stopped my dads speech about whatever he was going to tell me and turned on my side and tried my hardest to keep the tears out.
"But Korra-
"Everyone out but Mako!" I shouted this time and I heard the slow almost scuffle of their footsteps as they made their way out of my room.
"What do you need Korra?" Mako asked after they seemed to go down the hall. I didn't answer I just let the tears fall.
They were alive this whole time! They let me live with a woman I barely knew. A woman who was barely home to care for me! They left me all alone in the world, so depressed and confused that I had tried to kill myself and they didn't come back until now? Until I was ready to take on my destiny and training?
It took two less that silent sobs for Mako to lift me a bit and slide under me so I could cry laying on his chest. He held me tight and rubbed my back letting me drift right back to sleep.

I felt her breathing even out and I had to wonder what was really going on in her mind. She was so angry. At least she sounded like she had been when she told her parents to get out of the room.
She cried so softly that if she hadn't let the silent sobs wrack her body I wouldn't have even known she was crying. I lifted her and thought about just sitting with her but she needed more rest after a huge shock like this.
She slept on me the whole night, and about an hour after she initially dozed off Bo popped his head in and looked like he wanted to talk but I shook my head and he nodded and looked at her on my chest leaving.
I fell asleep shortly after the music turned off and the house was quiet. I held her tight and even in the early hours of the morning after hearing the kids trying to come in and being loud Korra slept on. It was like the other day in the car when she woke up talking about how she saw both her parents and mine.
I stroked her hair and around 9, she finally stirred and pushed off of me to look around. "How are you feeling now?"
"Still wishing all the lies were a dream." She told me and I helped her sit up before getting up. She stood up on her own this time and rubbed a hand over her stomach. "I'm so hungry."
"Do you want to go out there... or do you want me to get you something to eat?" I asked her and she gulped hard before thinking.
"I need to eat and then train. If you could tell Lin I'm eating and will be out?" She asked me and I nodded and stood. I straightened out my shirt and rubbed over my wrinkled pants and watched her move around the bag she had brought.
"I'll change first and find her." I told her as I got to her door. She sat down on the bed before I could close the door and I caught her unzipping the side of her dress and I gulped and let the door finish closing before going right to my room.
I got my regular comfortable clothes out and went to find Lin right away. She was outside having a cup of tea, looking as Korra had this morning, like she had seen a ghost.
"Korra wants to train when she's done eating." He spoke and she looked to him.
"She needs to talk with her parents." She whispered and gulped hard. "I still can't comprehend them actually being here." She said and Mako sat down for a moment. "I didn't raise her right."
"She is a fantastic person-"
"She tried to kill her self because I was never around the talk to. Ran her car straight into a wall to join her parents because I was not enough for her." Lin told him and he felt the shock of the truth. That was how Korra got that scar on her stomach... and her fear of being in the car when he spun out. "I failed my friends."
Mako say there with her for 20 minutes before he saw Korra walking toward them. He watched and she saw the look on his face before looking to Lin.
"Let's get today's lessons started." Lin announced and stood up and showing her basic forms all over again before she started to actually bend like Lin.
She caught on quick and even got Lin to promise to try and teach her metal bending when she perfected the more advanced moved she would show her tomorrow.
"Korra!" I heard a male shout and all three of us turned to see her father at the front door. "Come and have lunch."
"Not hungry." She spat and did the moves again, putting a few together as an attack. I'd seen Bo do it as kids when we were getting in trouble and I watched her gather water as well and use it as she progressed in her training.
Eventually Lin went inside to eat and I was sat watching her still.
"Mako..." Korra called my name and I stood up and walked closer. "Why did you look at me like that when I came out here?"
"Like what?"
"Differently." She told me and I gulped. "What happened?"
"Lin told me how you got that scar."
Just a reminder that I started this book before the 2nd season was finished so I am not so into it anymore but apparently I need to 'finish ' everything I've started before I can move on.
