"Behind you! Move!"
"Huh?" Jaune turned around, and his eyes widened when he found a knight in all black form out of a dark mist right behind him. Over it's head, It held a giant two handed sword that was almost as big as the thing wielding it.
"KEIN MITLEID!" It shouted as it brought the blade down. It froze in place mere inches from Jaune's face, a black aura surrounding both the weapon, and the spare arm of the redhead supporting Jaune. The two glowing red orbs that were the black knight's eyes glared at her.
"Don't you dare touch him!" Milo on her back began to glow with the same black aura, and flung itself into the knight's chest with such force that he was sent flying, until he and the spear flew into a tree. The weapon's tip was embedded in the tree, and stuck there. The impaled knight's body went limp, and the glowing red eyes faded to black.
"Kein Mitleid!" a thunderous roar erupted from the forrest, and several other knights burst forth from their hiding spots in the trees, each brandishing a two-handed weapon of some kind.
A burst of bullets found their way through the visor of one knight as soon as he popped out of the woods. they hit him in the eye, and erupted into a fire. The knight fell to the ground and began rolling around, trying to put out the fire in it's face. It did not scream in pain or shock, it was utterly silent.
"Ready kids?!" Randal called out, Glory and Victory in his hands were smoking from their barrels. With a flick of both wrists, they reformed into Sibbald. "Don't let them get near Jaune or Pyrrah! Charge!"
"Charge!" the team's leader echoed, followed by the rest of her team. Ruby launched herself at the lead knight, firing crescent Rose to make her go even faster. Twirling as she neared her target, she impaled her scythe in the monster's chest and pulled the trigger again, ripping Crecent Rose out, and tearing off the entire right side of the knight's body from the waist up. It fell to the ground, again without a sound.
Blake ended up fighting a knight wielding a halberd, the original combo-weapon, an axe head protruding from the shaft of a spear. It swung it's longer weapon at her, intending to cut her in half with the aforementioned axe, but the ninja cat was too quick to be caught by something like that. She dodged off to the side, and before the knight could react, she was behind him, slicing into the exposed hamstrings with Gambol Shroud, crippling him. All it took was another stab in the back to finish him off.
Three of them targeted Randal, Their weapons ready to claim the life of the "Tier in Mir" The knight leading the charge was the first to fall, as Sibbald pierced his visor and burst from the back of it's head. When the second raised it's weapon to attack, the mercenary gripped one of Sibbald's pressure plates, popping off half of it's shaft, which clicked and whirred as it transformed into Glory just in time to block the attack.
Randal snarled at the knight, keeping the approaching third enemy in his sight. Neither knight made any noise. A black aura began to form around the helmet of the second knight, and it suddenly collapsed into itself with a sickening CRUNCH, and Randal vowed never to piss off Pyrrah when wearing anything metal. The redhead had withdrawn behind team RWBY and Randal, holding up her shield to defend herself and the still semi concious Jaune. However, after using her Semblance so much, she was out of breath and her movements were getting sluggish.
The Third knight swung a massive axe at Randal, who ripped the other half of Sibbald out of the dead creature before dodging. While the blade itself missed the Mercenary/teacher, the metal shaft of the weapon smashed into the back of his skull as he ducked a second attack. The blow threw him to the ground.
"Ah, shit." He cursed, looking up from the dirt, he saw the knight raise it's axe up over it's head, about to cleave him in half. "Not good."
"Kein Mitleid!" The monster cried, just before a flash of white, and Myrtenaster found a chink in it's armor just under it's breastplate. It's red eyes widened in sudden shock, only for the dust in the heiress' weapon to suddenly freeze him solid. Weiss removed her weapon from the enemy, switched dust cartiges with a click, and struck at the armored head, with her sword now glowing red. With a blast of fire, the top half of the knight exploded. She looked down at her downed teacher.
"Now who's the rookie?" She said with a smile. He'd been calling her that ever since he first saw her fight, much to her annoyance.
"Still you." Randal said, getting back to his feet. "Though I'll admit, that was pretty badass." Looking around, he could see that most of the knights were dead. The only one still fighting was Yang. Scratch that, Wonder Woman just sent her opponant flying into... make that THROUGH a tree. "Any idea what these things were?" He asked.
"I've never heard of any grimm like these before." Weiss admitted. "Perhaps we should talk to Professor Port when we get back?"
"I don't think that's gonna help." Blake added, showing up after dealing with her enemy. "I've done a lot of reading on Grimm, and I've never heard of any humanoid Grimm."
"Neither have I." Randal said. "And Port's been having me help prepare his lessons for every class, not just the first years. as far as I know, we're the only ones who've fought these things before." His mind went back to Initiation day, that black knight he fought, and it's prophetic last words: "More are coming. Your world will fall."
"Maybe we should find Goodwitch and team CDNL and just get out of here?" Pyrrah suggested, helping the still semi-concious Jaune to his feet while the other girls showed up.
"That sounds like a good plan." Jaune mumbled out, though he probably didn't really understand what was going on.
"I agree." Said Randal, with everyone else quickly nodding in agreement. They had no idea what these things were, and that was more terrifying than actually fighting them. "Everyone, grab your gear, we're getting out of here." He said this looking at Pyrrah, who was the only one who'd lost their weapon in the fight. The redheaded nodded, and went off to grab Milo.
Suddenly, a scream of absolute terror was heard echoing throughout the forrest, before being cut off mid-way. Sky Lark, one of team CDNL came bursting out of the woods in a panic.
"Help!" He called out. "Help me! It killed the others! Save-" Before he could finish his sentence, a black blur shot out from the top of a tree, and in a flash, sliced deep into the survivor. Leaving behind three long claw like wounds. Sky fell to the ground, his face still twisted in terror, and the Black blur finally reveal its shape.
It was another knight. However, this one's armor was covered head to toe in ornate runes, and the symbol of a two headed wolf was displayed on it's chest. On both it's wrists were some kind of contraption that had three long claws protruding from it.
Team RWBY was absolutely stunned at watching one of their classmates die. Ruby especially looked shaken up by what she had just witnessed. However, Randal had a different reaction.
"HAHAHAHA!" The mercenary laughed. "Of cource you were one of them!" Randal called out to it. "We had no idea what kind of Grimm was so fast and had such sharp claws! We weren't looking for a Grimm! We were looking for you!" He continued to laugh at the sheer absurdity of his situation. "That means you were the one at the Ebony Forest last year! That means it was you who killed Doug in front of us! THAT MEANS YOU ARE THE BASTARD WHO BUTCHERED MY ENTIRE TEAM!" His teeth elongated into fangs, his nails grew into claws, and his blood-red eyes began to glow. "I'm going to tear you to pieces!" He growled.
Pyrrah, seeing all this happen, found her second wind, and ran to the monster she had impaled onto a tree with Milo, and upon reaching it, tore the spear out of the knight's chest, allowing it to fall to the ground. When she turned away to get back to her friends, she didn't notice it's glowing red eyes returning, nor the black smoke that rushed into it's wound, reapiring the damage in seconds. She also didn't notice when it's hand began to glow with bright red runes, and a sword materialized into it's hand. What she did notice, was a sharp pain and the cold touch of steel in her gut when the monster stabbed her in the back.
Whoo! This was a hassle. Due to issues with WHEN I was writing this chapter (The days leading up to christmas, my take-home history final needed work, and my job decided to give me three days straight of 8 hour shifts, during the only days I had to do my final. It was a mess and undoubtedly the worst week of my life.) I had to cut this chapter a little short. Cut out a few scenes like Yang's fight, and push a few others to the next chapter.
By the way, can you guys see now why I wanted so badly to get to the Jaunedice arc?
