Bella's Point of View

Now knowing that Jasper and I truly weren't in love I dedicated myself to staying as far away from him as possible. At first the separation was nearly unbearable, but by nightfall my feelings for him have evaporated into nearly nothing. I've locked myself away, deep into the darkness of a room Carlisle had set up for me. Carlisle had suggested that I attempt to understand my gifts, unfortunately I couldn't request help from others, I might accidentally cause harm to their relationships as well.

There was a light knock on my door, a thin beam of light flooding the room. "Bella, we are being summoned to meet with the wolves, they wish to see you as well." It was Jasper.

I held my breath as I listened to his voice.

Stay in control of my emotions.

Slowly I opened my eyes to look at him. Our gaze met and for a moment I felt heat growing in my chest. I tightened my clasp on my feelings, holding the heat inside of me.

Jasper moved from the doorway to sit on my bed, watching me with warm eyes. "What's wrong darlin?" He lightly touched my shoulder.

I could feel myself slipping.

No. I don't love him. He doesn't love me.

With all the strength I could manage I pushed him away from me. "No," I hissed, feeling the heat suddenly turn cold.

Jasper flew from me, colliding into the wall. Pictures and wall decorations fell around him shattering in pieces.

"I'm sorry," I muttered, letting my eyes close. The coldness now danced inside my chest. It wasn't a delight feeling, it was… uncomfortable… strained… unfeeling.

Jasper peered up at me, a blank look on his face.

"It's alright," He gave me a look of annoyance as he stood up. "It's what to be expected from a … newborn…"

The way he spoke to me was much different than he did before. It was cold… there was no emotion.

"Jasper, your feelings… what do you feel towards me?" I stood, hope bubbling in my stomach.

He rolled his eyes, turning away from me. "I barely know you Bella, but what I do know of you… I'm not impressed."

His words were harsh, but honest.

So that's how he truly feels?

I was delighted to feel similarly towards him. "And Alice?"

His expression didn't change. "She is part of my family, I do know her extremely well… more so than I care to…"

Strange. His relationship with Alice hasn't changed… but his relationship with me has? This was confusing. I guess I still had to work to do. This situation still wasn't fixed.

"Come on, let's get this over with," Jasper muttered, turning and leaving the room.

I reluctantly followed after him, slightly overwhelmed to find the rest of the Cullen's all waiting for us. The atmosphere was still tense, but Alice surprised me as she walked towards me. Her expression was blank, but as she approached her face softened.

"Thank you, for giving him up… for allowing yourself to go through this… for my sake." She said, bowing to me.

I smiled slightly. "I didn't have much of a choice, he is your husband, not mine."

"He could have been, it was your choice to let him go." Alice allowed a more natural smile. "I'll be grateful for my entire life."

"It's not over yet, he may no longer be in love with me… but I haven't repaired his feelings towards you."

Jasper snorted, getting both of our attention. "As touching as all of this is… can we just please get this meeting over with?"

Carlisle cleared his throat, nodding to the others. "We are all aware of why this meeting is taking place."

"We broke the treaty, Bella was turned into one of us, " Edward spoke up, absentmindedly playing with a piece of Alida's hair. Alida stood by his side, seeming to be lost in her own thoughts as well.

"However they haven't made any move to attack, which means they either plan on talking this out and creating a new treaty… or trick us into meeting up and fighting to the death." Emmett said with a wide grin.

Rosalie rolled her eyes, turning her icy gaze to Jasper. "This a quite a nuisance,"

Jasper ignored her commented, turning to walk to the door.

Apparently he has lost his patience with all of this talk.

With that being said, we all made our way outside. In seconds most of them disappeared right before my eyes. Alida and Edward paused, along with Carlisle.

"Are you alright Bella?" Alida said with a curious look.

I nodded, forcing a smile to my face. "Of course, please don't worry about me."

"I know things are moving quickly for you, but don't worry, you have a family here to help you through everything." Carlisle said, touching my shoulder, before running after the others.

Alida now climbed onto Edward's back, offering me a smile. "He's right, no matter what you are family. Vampire or not."

Her words offered me a little hope. Since I had woken up from my transition millions of thoughts and feelings coursed through me. It was hard to distinguish any one thing, but it was comforting to know that my sister didn't think I was some kind of monster.

"Follow us Bella," Alida said with a nod.

As Edward ran I pushed myself to follow him, he was very fast; I had a hard time keeping up with him, but I kept him within my sights. The run was exhilarating, I relished in the freedom I felt. Without a thought I let out a joyous laugh. I never felt so alive.

Everything around me was crystal clear and quite beautiful. The world was full of wonders that were naked to the human eye, it was as if I was seeing the world as it truly was for the first time. Breath-taking. I was almost disappointed when we had to stop.

We where now in a large clearing, the wolf pack stood before us, only Sam approached us in his human form. He kept a guarded look on us as he reached Carlisle.

"I'm sure you know why we called this meeting." Sam spoke with a dark look.

"Of course," Carlisle nodded towards me. "We have a lapse in our treaty."

"Yes, to put it lightly," Sam muttered, breathing in. "As you know, you agreed that you and your coven wouldn't harm a human being, you've done worse… you've turned an innocent woman into a vile creature."

I couldn't help but make a face.

Hurtful.

A wolf flanking Sam's left side made a noise, moving closer to him. My eyes followed the wolf; a feeling was brewing in my chest as I watched. I felt as though I knew him… no I was sure that I knew who he was. It had to be Paul.

"So where do we stand, you haven't attempted an attack, am I to believe you do not wish to begin a war against my family?" Carlisle said with hope in his eyes.

"Let's not get carried away, you still broke the treaty… there will be repercussions, unfortunately we aren't permitted to harm an imprint, Bella is safe the rest of you… aren't imprints… so there is nothing to stop us from ending your clan." Sam growled with a look of impatience.

"However, you have no plans to do so," Edward spoke up, a frown on her face. Alida chewed her lip, moving behind him a bit. "You don't wish to fight."

Sam appeared to be getting more annoyed. "Don't get the wrong idea, I despise each and every one of you. But if we were to kill all of you and not Bella, no one will be able to control her… bloodlust. She is to be kept on the right path, indulging in the blood of animals."

"That is our intent." Carlisle said with a smile. "She will stay with us and she wont be a threat."

I noticed a few sour faces amongst the Cullen's and in a sense, I didn't feel quite as welcomed. It seemed that no matter where I was, I didn't completely fit anywhere. How could I blame them, I've caused them so much trouble.

Suddenly I watched as Jasper took in a sharp gasp as his eyes scanned the group of wolves. His eyes stayed on one of the wolves, I recognized his expression.

"What is it Jasper?" Alice moved to his side, lightly touching his face.

He jerked from her touched, not taking his sights off the one wolf.

"What's wrong with that leech?" Sam spit towards Carlisle.

Carlisle searched Jasper's face, only to turn his sights on me. "Bella, is your abilities under control in this moment?"

I closed my eyes, searching inside my chest for any sort of feeling, but I felt absolutely nothing.

I nodded. "Yes, it is for now…"

Sam looked to the wolf with a nervous look coming to his face. "Leah… don't tell me that you have… imprinted?"

The wolf shook her massive head with a snort like sound.

"She hasn't imprinted, this has to do with Bella's abilities. She had unknowingly switched Jasper's feelings for her… with Jasper's feelings for Leah." Edward explained with a look of curiosity.

"But how, I've never met Leah, I wasn't even near her… how could that happen?" I asked, feeling guilt strike me once again. I hated to see Alice in pain like this, it was hard to watch. I wanted to fix things… but I didn't know how.

"I'm not sure, we would have to assume your abilities are far more advanced then we thought."

The wolf; Leah, began to grumble something towards Sam, her form stayed aggressive.

Sam glared towards me now. "Leah admitted that she had been patrolling the Cullen residence before our meeting, she had felt something disturbing and investigated; she scaled the side of the mansion to see Bella and that leech talking."

That must have been when it happened… This was why Jasper felt so coldly towards me… So not only can I switch the feelings of someone… I can control who it gets switched with.

Theoretically if I try hard enough I should be able to choose a target and switch their feelings… As long as they are nearby…

"If you would allow… I can try to fix this… I just need to be near her." I spoke with hope.

Leah growled at me, moving farther away.

Something tells me that she doesn't want anywhere near me.

"I'll allow that… as long as that's Leah's wish… but as for this moment, she is unwilling." He said with a tight look. "She needs time… she isn't fond of you… or this situation."

"We understand completely and we are sorry for this inconvenience, we will remedy this as soon as Leah is comfortable." Carlisle said with a calm smile.

It amazed me how calm he could be in this situation.

"Very well, now… as for our new conditions," Sam continued clearing his throat.

"Yes of course, please go on," Carlisle nodded.

"You and your clan still aren't welcome on Quilute land, with an exception of Bella; when she is under control of her thirst and can prove she isn't a risk. If you change one more innocent person… you and you're family will be eliminated by our hands." As Sam said this he sent a serious look to Alida. "That includes you."

Alida's eyes filled with tears, but she stayed silent. The look of pain that came to her face sent anger to bubble inside me.

"This treaty should have nothing to do with her." I spat with a cold glare towards Sam. I could feel my control slipping, but my anger intensified to the point that I didn't care.

"Bella," Carlisle said touching my shoulder.

I shook his hand off me, keeping my sharp gaze on Sam.

"You have no right to dictate my sister's life or the choices that she makes."

"This is the price that you pay for choosing a life of blood and death." Sam snapped with a frown.

His pack was growing more and more volatile as I got angry.

At this point I could ever feel Jasper's power strike me, but I ignored them as well. All I could think about was killing the entire pack. Not for their blood, no… for the sake of my sister.

My body acted before my mind; I felt myself move forward; blindly with rage as I swung a punch towards Sam. But before I could make contact with him another wolf ran in front of my punch. The other wolf went flying, he laid on the ground at our feet; whimpering in agony. His body was crumpled up; clearing sustaining broken bones.

The moment that I hit him, my entire body ignited with pain. I fell to my knees; clenching my chest in pain. I let out a whimper of my own. Guilt and regret filled me instantly as Sam ran over to the wolf.

"Are you alright Paul?" He said with a hard gaze. "You shouldn't have done that."

The wolf only whimpered as he began to attempted to stand.

Again I acted on impulse as I rushed to his side. The moment my hand went out to touch him, the coldness of my touch caused an eruption of growls from Paul. But as he searched my face he was quiet.

"I'm so sorry… I didn't want to hurt you…" I whispered, cautiously stroking his face. "I know that I messed up… a lot… more than I could ever apologize for… but I will fix this."

Paul didn't respond right away, we stayed like that for a long time, before he lightly licked my hand, watching up at me with a mixture of emotions.

I didn't know what was going on in his mind, but I could only hope that he would forgive me and wait for me to figure out my powers… I wanted the love we had… it was real… it was the only love that I knew was the truth. Paul was the man I was destined for… I just had to find my way back to him.

Somehow.
