OK... i know this is a long waited chapter...It's more than a month since the last one... I am sorry.

Things That Won't Change - Part One

Anne was on her way back to her den.

Finally it's over. She thought. A long night.

It is worse than she could imagine. The pack was very busy, so no one really noticed that there was someone missing.

Then when they saw the bodies, everybody was awake.

She can't describe the impact she got when she saw her partner lying not far from her; lifeless.

She shook her head, pulled her thought from it.

"I am not an Omega…I should be brave…" She told herself.

Then…her thoughts were distracted by memory of those omega's faces…

Not paying attention on where she was walking, she ran into a pup.

"Oh…" She saw that white pup was bumped away by her.

"What's wrong with you?" The pup complained.

"I am so sorry." Anne apologized. "Something on my mind…"

Wait…Pup? Anne looked down and closer; a pup shouldn't be here now.

"Pay attention next time." The pup said, and looked up at her.

"Lilly?" Anne asked, now that she had recognized the pup.

"Eh…hi…" Lilly's facial expression froze when she saw who the wolf she ran into was.

"Why are you here?" Anne asked, and started to look around.

"Eh… long story…" Lilly said.

In a small den next to the rail road not far from Jasper Park, A gray wolf sat silently next to a tan wolf that was sleeping. Not far from them laid another gray wolf.

It was very late now.

Humphrey was thinking about where they are going; he hadn't thought much about this earlier.

He didn't even know why he wanted to go, it was just a feeling.

He looked back to Kate. Finally understanding why Kate hadn't wanted to change back.

Kate's belly hadn't recovered from the pregnancy, and there was even a small scent of blood that came out of her.

Seeing this, Humphrey felt very bad. If he said that he doesn't care, then that would be a lie.

He cared. He cared a lot, but it wasn't important anymore. What was important was they were still together. Even if there were some cracks between them, the time will heal everything.

And he didn't think he has the right to blame Kate, he had done nothing better.

Humphrey raised his paw. It is very muscular, and the claw on it…

Humphrey closed his eyes as if he could still see where blood had dripped down from it.

Suddenly Humphrey's ear rose. He heard someone or something, coming closer and closer… directly toward them.

Much earlier

Winston and Eve were on their way back to their den.

"Why'd you let him go?" Eve asked.

Earlier, Tony had left the pack.

"I couldn't…" Winston said. "There is nothing that can stop him."

"How? I can't see the point." Eve asked. "Revenge can't begin help to anything."

Winston looked to Eve with surprised expression on his face.

"What?" Eve stared back.

"Nothing." Winston turned his head back. "I'm just so happy that you understand this."

Eve fell into silence.

The silence remained until they were back into the main den.

"Winston." A wolf ran up with despair on her face.

"Humphrey… taken away… Human… him…" The wolf tried to say something but couldn't come up with a sentence.

"Anne?" Eve and Winston looked to the wolf.

"I have to find him…" Anne said to herself and then ran away.

Winston and Eve looked to each other with confused expressions.

They walked in to the den and saw that Lilly was sitting alone in the middle of the den.

Kate was gone.

"Where is Kate?" Eve asked.

Winston was looking around too, with the thought of Anne's behavior fresh in his mind; he started to get a bad feeling about this.

"Mom…" Lilly said slowly. "Humphrey, Kate and Katherine were taken away by Humans…"

That was 100% a lie. Lilly had think about how to explain Humphrey and Kate's disappearance, and this was the first thing she came up with.

So she told that to Anne.

Then she thought she had makes a mistake, she should have never told this to Anne…

Anne went nuts when she heard this.

"Kate what?" Eve yelled.

OH hell… Lilly thought. I am so stupid.

Winston didn't show any panic like Eve; he wanted to make sure that Lilly was telling the truth. That didn't mean he didn't trust her, but word came from a pup… You really need to make sure it is true first.

"How do you know that?" Winston asked.

Lilly started to bite her lips… It was hard for her to keep telling the lie.

"I was taken by them too…hem… But…escape from their bag…eh… Ya! I escaped from that bag… And met Aunt Anne in the forest…

Seeing Lilly that hesitated on her word, Winston didn't stop to think of if she was lying. He considered this was an act of nervousness to the "kidnap" experiment.

So he believed it.

"Winston…Kate… Our daughter…" Eve looked back to Winston with worry.

"If…this is true. There is nothing we can do." Winston said.

"What?" Eve looked to Winston with a face like she was looking at an alien. "That's Kate! My daughter! Your daughter! "

"There are humans… We can't fight them…" Winston said coolly. "If we really catch up with them…Wolves will die…"

"Win…" Eve felt that she was almost crazy.

"AND…We have to catch up with them first. Can we?" Winston didn't let Eve talk.

"Can we run faster than a car?" He asked and looked to Eve's eyes.

"T…t…then what about Anne?" Eve tried to find a point to refute.

Winston shook his head; it was very weird that he couldn't feel anything. Maybe he was too tired, or maybe he was just numb about it. There were too many things happened these days

"She will be back…and we should start to think about how to comfort her…" He said.

"Comfort her?" Eve asked almost shouting. "Then who can comfort me? And how about you? Can't you feel it?"

There were tears streaming out of Eve's eyes.

Winston shook his head again and walked out of the den.

Seeing her mother crying alone in the den, Lilly start to hate herself.

"Hey! Katherine." Humphrey turned his head to her, and woked her up.

"Yes." Katherine shook her head., and sat up.

"Did you hear that?" Humphrey asked.

"Well…Yes… Anything wrong with that?" She asked. The running sound was very loud in the night.

"Yes. It is running toward us." Humphrey said.

"Come on… If that thing wants to attack us… then it would be more quiet…" Katherine said and lay back down.

Humphrey stood up and walked out; here is the different between an Alpha and Lone Wolf.

Alpha was trained by school. But a Lone wolf was taught by the wild.

"Lesson one. Never be opinionated." Humphrey said to himself with low voice. "Cause you will never know."

He prepared, waiting for the thing to show up soon… A wolf then appeared and jumped on him.

Humphrey didn't fight back.

Anne didn't remember what had she done when she heard the news, from Lilly, that Humphrey had been taken away. She guessed that she had taken Lilly back to the main den and then started to trace the scent of where Humphrey had left and began running toward the rail road.

Humphrey means everything to her. She knew that all the time. She had tried not to panic, but she couldn't help but start to think of the worst things that could happen.

Why the rail road? Why? OH no… He was taken away by train…I will never see him again…

Anne knew that Humphrey could change to an adult wolf's form, but it didn't make her feel any better…

They are 'HUMAN'. Anne thought. Hope he didn't do anything stupid…

Then, an image of Humphrey laying lifeless on the ground with a hole on his head…

No…stop thinking of that…

Anne kept running. She soon found out that the scent kept becoming stronger and stronger, and then it suddenly disappeared…

She saw a wolf standing in front of her.

She jumped on him.
