The Love of a Spy - Chapter 29
A/N: So now, the end is near, and so I face the final curtain! Okay, wow, we're finally here, the end of this story. It's been such an eventful 4 years, we've all been through a lot but despite that, I am so proud of this story and so thankful for everybody that has stuck with it and reviewed it for so long. You guys are like a second family to me and I am so grateful for the love you've given me. Olake forever!
Jake hadn't had even paid attention to the 2 paramedics that raced through his door as he cradled Olivia in his arms, she was still bleeding out and he was doing everything he could to stop her bleeding out any more than she already had.
It didn't seem to be working as well as she had clearly passed out and was paler in the face.
"No, no no! Liv, stay with me baby please!" He pleaded with tears as a paramedic grabbed his shoulder.
"Sir, you have to let her go, let us do our jobs. What happened here?" The brunette paramedic asked him as her partner checked Olivia and prepared to get her onto the stretcher.
"I…..I didn't mean to hurt her I swear, she's my little girl, I'm so sorry." Rowan yelped out in tears as he sank to the floor with his back against the wall. He continued to cry out and held his head in his hand.
The brunette paramedic noticed the gun in his hand. "She was shot." She questioned.
"Is she going to be okay? Please you can't let her die." Jake pleaded
"We're going to do everything we can. You are?" The paramedic.
"Her boyfriend, I'm coming with you too." Jake said to her.
"I'm coming too!" Rowan said immediately standing up.
"I think you've done enough." Jake said angrily as he gritted through his teeth as he grabbed his jacket. "And the only reason I haven't slit your throat is because Olivia needs me." He said angrily before storming out, leaving Rowan alone.
He followed the two paramedics downstairs and into the back of the ambulance. He couldn't care less what happened to Rowan, his main focus at that moment was Olivia and whether she'd make it or not.
He held her hand the entire way there, and only let go when doctors wheeled her into theatre. All he could do in that moment was sit there and hold onto hope.
It was 2 long hours of waiting and hoping and praying before Jake finally saw a nurse come his way. He looked up immediately and practically to her direction.
"Is she, is she okay? Please tell me, how she is, I can take it, I can't lose her, I can't." Jake expressed frantically with tears in his eyes.
"Mr Ballard, your girlfriend's condition is critical and we have our trauma team working on her.
"When can I see her?" He interrupted
"The minute she's stable. Have you got in contact with any family members?" The doctor asked
"No, she doesn't have anyone else, I'm all she's got." He gritted through his teeth as he thought of Rowan. He honestly didn't want to think about that man right now.
"I can assure you we are doing everything we can, I'll be back as soon as there's an update." The doctor finished.
Jake slightly nodded his head and went back to his seat.
Meanwhile, Rowan was currently at the police station in an absolute state, not knowing whether his daughter was okay or not was killing him, more than the fact that he was the reason she was in that position in the first place. He didn't want to go through questioning right now but he knew he had to.
He was directed to a small interrogation room and had sat there for about 10 minutes before a tall male detective had come in and sat down opposite him.
The detective seemed cold and uninviting but he wasn't expecting him to be any other way, he had just committed a crime after all.
"For the record, could you please state your name." The detective stated sternly.
Rowan looked up from the table, his hands shaking and his voice trembling. "I know you probably don't know the answer but please, please tell me if she's okay." He cried.
"Your name, sir." The detective snapped.
"Rowan, Rowan Pope." He sniffled
"You understand you're being charged with the attempted murder of Olivia Pope?" The detective finished
"Yes, yes I do. I'm guilty." Rowan admitted. "I never meant for this to happen, you have to believe me." Rowan cried.
"Well in that case, Rowan Pope I am charging you with the attempted murder of Olivia Pope." The detective droned on, but he blocked it all out and waited to be escorted to his cell.
Meanwhile back at the hospital, Jake remained as calm as he could be, waiting to hear back from a doctor regarding Olivia's condition.
He was constantly fighting his sleep and dropping off and he was suddenly snapped out of his thoughts when the same doctor returned to him with a slight smirk on her face.
Jake immediately stood up waiting to be told what he needed to be told. "What's going on?" He asked nervously.
"We've managed to stop the bleeding and she's currently stable so you can see her." The doctor said kindly.
Jake took a deep sigh and held the happy tears back before following the doctor to where Olivia was situated. He walked into the room and saw her wired up to machines and she lie there looking helpless. He slowly walked over to her and softly touched her hand as he sat down in the chair sat next to her.
He just continued to glare at her, she looked so vulnerable and he couldn't help but blame himself and feel responsible for what had happened to her, despite it mostly being her father's fault anyway.
"I don't know if you can hear me right now, but if you can, I need you to know that I'm so sorry, for all of this. You probably won't blame me personally but I do. I'm damaged goods and if I had just stayed away from and kept you safe, you wouldn't be lying in a hospital bed like this. You deserve so much better than me, you really do because you Olivia Pope, are amazing." He cried as he held onto her hands. "And I'm gonna be here for you, I'll be right here when you wake up."
Suddenly his crying was interrupted by the squeeze of his hand. He removed his head from his free hand and immediately looked up.
"Olivia?" He said anxiously.
Her eyes slowly fluttered open as Jake moved closer to her face.
"Liv, Olivia?! Hang on, I'll get the nurse, don't move." He said stroking her hair before running to the other side of the room and yelling out for a nurse in the corridor.
"Jake?" Olivia said weakly. She only remembered being shot and passing out on the floor back at the apartment.
"What's…." She tried to speak weakly
"Shh, shh don't talk, it's okay. You're in the hospital, you're going to be okay." Jake assured her after rushing to her side.
They were interrupted by the nurse that had just walked in to check on things, luckily for the both of them, she determined that Olivia was fine and just needed rest to make sure things stayed that way. She explained how the gunshot had affected her and what they did to solve it and fortunately for her there was no long lasting or serious damage.
Jake sat back down next to her and smiled as he watched her. "I'm so glad you're okay." He finally breathed out with tears building up in his eyes.
She breaks down in tears suddenly, taking Jake by surprise. "What's wrong?" he asked her softly.
"I just can't believe my Father would do this." The tears increased. "Where is he now?" She asked Jake
"He's, uhm, he's been taken into custody, and from what I hear, he admitted to everything, and he's being charged with attempted murder." Jake finished
Olivia broke down in tears again after hearing everything. "I just, I just don't even know what to say, or think." Olivia said to him
"It's okay Liv, I know, I know." He told her before reaching up and hugging her. She embraced the hug by curling into him tighter.
She looked up slightly at him. "I love you, I love you so much." Olivia whispered to him.
"I love you too." Jake replied as he pulled her in tighter before kissing her forehead.
1 Year Later
"Please tell me where we're going!" Olivia begged and pleaded as she rested her head against the car seat watching Jake continue to drive down the street.
"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise now would it babe." Jake reminded her as he looked at her and smiled.
"Well as long as it doesn't take too long. I wanna get some brunch at that restaurant on Fairdale street. The baby is craving it." She said to him
"You sure it's not you that's craving it." Jake joked.
"We're here anyway." He said as he pulled up to a house near the end of the street.
"What are we doing here?" Olivia asked as he got out of the car and walked around the other side to open up the door for her.
"Come on." He said holding his hand out helping her get out. He shut the door and began to lead her to the front of the house.
"I wanted this to be a surprise for you, which is why I didn't tell you but, this house, I just put an offer down on it. It's ours if you're okay with it." He explained to her.
"What?" Olivia said to him with tears in her eyes.
"I want us to have a fresh start, a future, you me and the baby, and hopefully more in the future-"
"Yes!" She interrupted him.
"Huh?" He said surprised
"Yes, I want this house, I want us, I want our future. You're best thing that's ever happened to me Jacob Ballard." She said to him as she held his face in her hands and reached up to kiss him. His hands found her waist and brought them around to her belly and rested his hands comfortably there.
"And you're most certainly, the best thing that's happened to me. I love you so much Olivia Pope." He whispered before reaching down to kiss her again with his hands still on her hips.
"I love you more." Olivia said with a cheeky smile.
"Not possible." He joked before turning her around and walking towards the front door.
In that moment, it felt like everything they had been through in the past 15 months was worth it. They had never been truly happy in their lives, but right there and then, they had found peace, serenity and happiness, and looked forward to living that for the rest of their lives.
