After Injustice for All: Nightmare
Filler Chapter 27
What is it you fear most of all?
Personally? I really don't like driving around trucks. Why?
In my own experience, I've been intimidated by the size, which is understandable! Now, what makes it even more scary for me…
I was nearly ran off the road by a large truck…
I was trying to pass it, I suppose they couldn't see me coming up on their side and they started to move into the other line and it was going to push me into the side of the road…
I was terrified, so I hit the gas pedal and zoomed away as fast as I could.
We, the truck driver and I, must have been terrified!
But as the person in a MUCH smaller car, I felt like I was on the verge of a panic attack. I pulled over at a fast food restaurant and sat in the parking lot for 10 minutes, just to keep from breaking down.
Maybe I took too long to try and pass them, I know for sure they couldn't see me or else they wouldn't have tried to move into the other lane.
Regardless, whenever a large truck is around, the urge to speed up or slow down and let them pass over comes me.
Fear is an interesting thing when you think about it. What's even more interesting is how people react to their fears.
Tala's fear? She had never really thought about it before, after all she's seen and done, what could she possibly fear now?
Okay, maybe Copperhead! He's one creepy guy…
But she's faced him, and she has come to terms that she can't let fear of the past take her down. Her friend was hurt, she had to act fast to save him, fear was not going to let her stand by and let her friend die.
But does she realize there is another thing she fears, maybe even more than snakes?
"Hello?"
The white room echoes her voice back to her and she shutters as she realizes that she is not cold or warm. The room is normal, yet she felt nothing around her.
"Hey! Hello! Is someone, ANYONE, here?"
She hugs herself, she may not feel anything, but something made her uncomfortable here. The lack of presence?
"Someone… please answer me… This is really starting to freak me out!"
"Tala…"
She spun around and… Well… There he was…
"Daddy?"
She was never too old to see her father and call him daddy, she was always 'daddy's little girl'.
She ran to him and hugged him tightly. He was warm, comforting, and most of all he was HERE!
"I miss you so much!"
"I missed you too sweetheart… Look at you all grown up…"
He cups her cheek and looked down at her, her eyes brimmed with tears and hair as long and pretty as her mother's.
"Daddy…Where are we?"
"I don't know baby girl… But I promise… It's gonna be okay…" He hugged her tightly, never wanting to let her go.
The lights started to dim, Tala would look around in fear and try to clutch to her father… Only to find his warmth fading and slowly she was unable to touch him any more.
"Daddy!" She screams as he slowly faded with the white room.
"Tala! Tala!" Her father tried to grab her in his arms only to find he couldn't, the room was suddenly filled with sounds…
The screech of car tires…
"Daddy! Don't go!"
The horn of other cars trying to sound the other driver in alarm…
"DADDY!"
The loud collision of metal on metal was deafening…
Tala would always remember the image before her, she had seen the picture a thousand times before…
The headline of every paper that covered the accident was different, but the picture used and results of the crash was all the same… Two cars, a mangled mess of parts… And only one of the drivers survived…
Officer Oakland, married and father of two, killed in the line of duty. Survived by his loving wife, two children and his parents.
Tala would stare at the cars before her, it was all she could do. Her body unable to move and try to pull her father's body out of the mess.
"Dad…" She twitched and clenched her fists tightly and she was trying so hard to will her body to move…
"DADDY!"
She ran forward, bare feet touching the shattered glass and being cut up as she grabbed at the mangled door and tried to throw it open.
"Come on! COME ON OPEN!" She would scream as she leaned backward trying to open the door.
"PLEASE!"
Her eyes closed for a second to clear the tears away from her vision, the moment she opened them, the cars were gone…
But the image was something else, she was still scared and crying just as she was only seconds before as she tried to save her father.
"JOHN! COME ON GET UP!" She screamed as he was trapped under rubble.
The man was in his hero suit, head bloody and stuck under what looked like building rubble.
"WALLY! WALLY HELP ME PLEASE!" She cried as she turned to see him knocked out on the ground.
"J'ONN!" She turned to see him nowhere in sight.
"CLARK! DIANA! SHYIRA!" She sobbed as she slowly sank to the ground, still holding John's hand tightly and the smell of smoke and dust filled her lungs.
"Somebody… Please…" She begged the grey skies and sobbed heavily.
"DON'T LEAVE ME ALONE!"
The sound of laughter filled the air, she would look around only to see the skull in the sky… The same skull she had seen before once while she was awake…
Laughing as she struggled in vain to save her friends…
I woke up with a gasp and looked around.
I was at home? Right… It's only… 3 AM? Jeeze…
Shotzey whined and looked at me concerned.
"I'm sorry boy… Oh that was a hell of a nightmare…" I pulled him in my arms and held him.
He licked my chin and whined softly as I cuddled him.
"I'm okay baby boy… Just a nightmare… Guess I've been working too hard on those papers…" I say as I looked to my laptop in front of me, still open and waiting for me to finish up an assignment.
I had been in classes little over a month now, I also worked a little job babysitting my neighbor's little girl every other day when they worked late and needed someone to pick their daughter up from ballet practice.
I saved my work and closed my laptop. I felt ill…
"Come on boy… Let's get something to snack on…" I set him down on the floor and padded off to the small kitchen.
Pulling out a small yogurt, I pulled out some puppy treats and handed Shotzey a small bone that would take him a few minutes to nibble on.
I sat down at the small table and mixed my yogurt up a little before trying to stomach it…
My head swimming and I felt a small fever coming up…
Was I getting sick again? It's been a while since last time…
"Maybe I need a break tomorrow huh boy?" Looking to Shotzey, I see him growling as he attacked the treat.
"Yeah, that would be good for me… is should check up on everyone too… See if they want me to work up on the watchtower a little bit." I say mostly to myself as he was too busy to really pay me any mind.
Closing my eyes, I tried to remember what my dream was all about…
I think… I think I saw my dad?
No… I couldn't have… I mean… I haven't had a dream with him in it for a long while now! I thought I was finally over this… But then again… I might have just thought I saw him… I mean here in this dimension… I don't really dream… I just sleep and wake up refreshed and ready for a new day…
"Maybe I need to talk to J'onn again…" I say as I tossed my half eaten yogurt and walked back to my bed. Shotzey ran along my side and I had to help him up to the bed.
"We'll worry about it in the morning…" I say softly as I laid back on my pillow and Shotzey curled up next to me. His little ears twitched as he listened around for a moment before he slowly dozed off.
I would follow shortly after… I never did remember what I was dreaming about…
Hey, hey everyone! Good news! I finally planned out all the episodes I'm going to do for this story, now let me just say it now… I mixed a lot of season 1 and 2 around! Sorry not sorry, and I think the way I have everything planned out will work really well! You'll see as I try and update when I can!
ALSO!
I need to address some things that have come to my attention in the comments!
One major one! Updating Wings and Metal!
Okay… like I said before, I lost my old flashdrives with all my old works… I have to do some SERIOUS remembering so I can try and pull back some of those ideas that I was doing… As well, that story has been a hold for a SUPER long time I know, but I feel like that is a story I would want to kinda rewrite in the future too, mostly because it's been so long since I tried working on it the idea I had back then has changed and I feel like I could do it WAY better now!
So, all I can ask is that you give me time to try and pull some of my old stuff out of the dusty mess that is the back of my brain and I will TRY to see if I can save that story…
Another one that caught my attention was a comment on the puppy's name!
Yes, I had been hunting for a good name for a while for this puppy. I wanted it to have a meaning because this puppy is what represents from what I lost. I lost my furry friends, and they were my family. So they were loved. And trust me, I was hunting for a good name for HOURS! I finally found Shotzey! But when there was a mention of another word meaning 'loved one', I felt like I needed to say that I found this name on a website maybe MONTHS ago… I don't remember where I saw it, but it was names for a dog or names for baby? I really don't remember…
But, the meaning for the name was 'loved one'! And that was what I really wanted to make clear. 'Geliebte' is literally translated to 'loved one' and 'Shotzey' is the name that means 'loved one'. (I did use google translate for this, just to make sure.)
Anyway! I hope that clears some things up! As well, I do have a big plan for Tala and the episode "Only a Dream". But that is further down the line! So if you wanna know more about it, stay tuned and you'll see when we get there!
If you see any mistakes let me know and I will get them as soon as I can!
Leave me a comment if you'd like, tell me what you think!
BTW, the next episode on my list to jump into is…
A KIGHT OF SHADOWS!
Peace out!
