Keep the one-shot requests coming!

In this Chapter...bittersweetness.

Chapter 29: Logan's POV

God, please let them be okay.

"Logan, don't worry, we can't afford to worry," Kendall rubbed my back.

"How can I not worry, Ken," I rested my head in my hands, my voice cracking. "That's my husband and baby in there…and something was going on with the baby, I know it!"

Right now, we're sitting in the emergency room waiting room waiting to hear the fate of my husband and baby, and I can't keep myself together, I'm getting more nervous.

God, please let them be okay.

"Dak, won't get away with this," James promised.

"What happened with him anyway?" I asked.

"Oh, we beat his ass," Kendall said. "And then the cops got him, but they didn't arrest him."

"Why not?" My eyes widened.

"They have him in custody don't worry," James said. "But they want Carlos to arrest him, so they aren't going to book him yet."

"If he ever wakes up," I muttered.

God, please let them be okay.

"Logan, stop talking like that!" James scolded.

The ambulance left me because I was too slow, so I ended up leaving with Kendall and James and we've been waiting here ever since. Lucy is on her way now with the kids, I need them near me right now.

Speaking of them, here they come now, my kids running to me when they saw me. I pulled them both into a hug, needing comfort from them.

"Daddy, is papa okay?" Emma asked.

"Oh sweetie, don't worry about papa. I'm sure he'll be fine," I said.

James and Kendall were giving me a sympathetic look. I can't raise two…maybe three kids on my own if something were to happen to Carlos.

God, please let them be okay.

"Mr. Mitchell," a doctor came out.

"Yes," I stood up immediately.

"Hello, my name is Doctor Stevens," he introduced himself. "I want to start with your husband."

"Okay," I said, uncertainly.

"We stop the bleeding," he said. "The bullet didn't hit any major arteries, but it did hit a nerve that sent him into shock and as of right now, he's in a coma."

My heart sank. A coma…a coma that he possibly wouldn't come out of.

"But," Dr. Stevens continued. "He's stable right now, and we suspect that he'll wake up within a week…don't worry, he'll make a full recovery."

"Thank you doctor," I managed to say.

Even with the reassurance from the doctor, I still couldn't bring myself to believe him until he was awake.

"Now as for your baby," he started.

"Yeah?" I looked at him, searching for clues on his condition.

"How would you like to meet him?" the doctor smiled.

"…He's…alive and…b-born?" I stammered.

"At 2:08 PM," he confirmed. "The bullet entered the baby's foot, but miraculously the baby survived, and at 8 months right?"

'Yeah," I said breathlessly.

"He's perfectly healthy and should be ready to go home in just two days," the doctor said. "Come on, let's go see him and your husband."

I smiled before following the doctor into the room. As I walked in, I saw a blue bundle in a nurse's arm. She smiled at me before handing him to me. I looked down at him, feeling tears come to my eyes. He was beautiful!

He had a mess of brown hair on his head, and his curious brown eyes stared up at me. He looked more like me with his brown hair, as Ethan looked more like Carlos with his black hair, but essentially, they were like twins (except for the hair). Carlos and I can make some beautiful babies that's for sure.

"Hi baby," I cooed. "I'm your daddy!"

I couldn't help but smile. I now had four children and that was a crazy thought to me. In just three years I had four kids. I saw where there was a mark from the bullet in his foot and I got upset again, but at least he was alive and in my arms.

I softly rubbed the spot…big mistake. Big BIG mistake. He started wailing…so loud that it broke my heart. I didn't mean to, it just I was trying to make it better. My first instinct was to kiss it to make it feel better, but that would probably make it worse.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. "Don't cry."

I bounced him in my arms.

"The spot is still sensitive," the doctor said.

"I noticed," I sighed.

After probably 10 minutes, I got him to calm down and he fell asleep. For the first time, I noticed that Carlos was in the room, hooked up to the machines, completely still. Apparently, he and the baby would be transferred upstairs to clear up room in the emergency room.

I wondered long Carlos would be here after he wakes up…it seems like we'll be in San Diego for a while. I got sad looking at Carlos, because it was a reminder that I couldn't share the first moments of our child's birth with him and surely he is going to beat himself up for that when he wakes up.

If he wakes up.

"Carlos, we have another beautiful baby boy and he looks just like Ethan, sans the hair," I said. "I don't know if you can hear me, but if you can…please hurry up and wake up because we need you and I miss seeing your beautiful brown eyes. Another thing you would love to hear is that Dak is in custody, and they're saving the job of arresting and booking him for you. That's good right? Um, I love you and I'm sorry that this had to happen to you."

I smiled sadly. I thought maybe my speech would cause some miracle that would wake him up, but this isn't the movies. This is reality. The door opened and in came Kendall, James, Lucy, and the three kids.

"Hey guys," I gave a small smile.

"Is that the baby?" James asked with a smile.

"No, it's a rabbit," Kendall said, sarcastically.

"Here, do you wanna hold him?" I handed him to James. "Just watch his right foot, it's sensitive."

The three adults smiled down at him.

"He's beautiful Logan," Lucy said.

"Thank you," I smiled.

While they paid attention to the baby, the kids were paying attention to Carlos.

"Uncle Logie, is Uncle Carlos okay?" Jade asked.

In my mind the replacement was, "Daddy is papa okay?" She was my daughter too, and I really don't want to let her out of my sight either, but since I trust Kendall and James, I figure she'll be fine.

"Yeah kids, he's fine…just sleeping," I said.

"I wanna see him," Ethan said.

I picked him up and put him on the bed. I smiled when he kissed Carlos' forehead.

"Sleep tight papa, I love you," Ethan said.

No papa, don't sleep tight…sleep very lightly and wake up, preferably now!

"Come on, let's meet your brother," I said.

He sat on the edge of the bed, next to Jade and Emma sat in my lap. James handed me the baby, and the three looked at him curiously.

"He's tiny," Emma giggled.

"Yeah, but he'll grow," I said.

"Adam was that small," Jade observed.

"Where baby in papas tummy?" Ethan asked.

"This is the baby in papas tummy," I chuckled.

"What's his name?" Kendall asked.

"…I have no clue," I said, thinking about it. "Carlos and I didn't think that much about it."

"Well, we can't call him 'baby' until Carlos wakes up," Lucy said.

"Yeah we can," I said. "I don't want to name him and then Carlos not like the name…I want it to be something we agree on."

"…Understandable," James shrugged. "So now what?"

"First, I have to call Dr. Martin and fill him in, then I have to call both of our jobs and let them know what we had the baby and we're on maternity leave for now, and then ask Dr. Stevens how the heck they got the baby out."

"Oh, that's easy," Dr. Stevens walked in. "When he got here, I noticed that his stomach muscles were contracting, and the shock of the bullet sent him into labor, so we had to do an emergency c-section, which you can imagine is difficult when your also trying to find a bullet, but it turns out the bullet was in your baby's foot, but everything worked out."

"That's miraculous," Kendall whispered.

"Now I'm here to do the birth certificate," Dr. Stevens said.

"Well…we don't have a name yet, and Carlos can't exactly sign the birth certificate soooo…" I trailed off.

"That's true," Dr. Stevens chuckled. "We can do that when Carlos wakes up."

We spent the rest of the day with Carlos and the baby, who was relatively quiet, unless you mess with his foot. All Day, I was silently hoping that Carlos would wake up, but until then…

I was going to be a single father.

Alright, I need first, middle, and last name combinations for the baby and then I'm going to go through all the reviews I've gotten from this story and choose my favorite and give the winner a shout out! Post in reviews or even PM me!
