Despite the fact that I haven't updated this story in a considerable amount of time it is still my most viewed story each month. Whether that means my other stories are not as good or that there is just a far larger fanbase for this type of story I am not certain. In any matter here is the second part of the Azula/Suki/Ty Lee/Yue ending.
I have been working on the "Dark Side" endings but I intend to finish writing the "Light Side" endings first before crossing the line into much darker material (Of which Azula seems to thrive on).
While so far some endings have had dark, disturbing, and downright evil moments (courtesy of Azula) they have all ended with a happy ending for the main couple/trio. Thus the "Light Side". When we get to the "Dark Side", well, no spoilers.
When we left off Yue had used her moon powers to successfully trap Suki, Sokka, Ty Lee, Azula, and Hawky inside a cave on Kyoshi Island to implement her plan of selecting a suitable replacement for her, unless she's planning something else? I do not own Avatar The Legend of Aang but I claim my story. Enjoy.
"But the ocean and the moon gave up their immortality to become a part of our world. And now they will face the consequences." – Admiral Zhao at the siege of the Northern Water Tribe.
(KYOSHI ISLAND/CAVE)
The storm continued to rage outside as Sokka and Hawky descended further into the cave: partly to find a more sheltered section and partly to explore.
"I just hope the ship isn't spotted off the coast." He remarked to the bird, "The whole point of these secret spying missions is for them to stay secret."
The bird squawked in agreement.
"I mean so far things are normal." He shrugged, "Azula and Ty Lee seem to be close friends again, Suki is training with them, looks pretty good to me."
He peered around a corner, eyes squinted to peer through the dark, "Hawky, you've got better eyesight than me, any idea which way to go?"
His pet hawk lifted off from his shoulder and flew into the darkness beyond his limited sight range. About twenty seconds later the bird returned and landed back on his shoulder.
"Forward? Once for yes, twice for no."
Hawky squawked once and Sokka started making his way carefully through the dark.
(CAVE/ LOWER LEVEL)
"How deep does this thing go?" Ty Lee wondered as she helped Azula along while the firebender illuminated the area with a handful of blue flames.
"I have no idea." The former Firelord peered down a passageway, "Though I would say we are very deep."
Ty Lee looked back along the tunnel they had just arrived by, only now there was a growing trickle of water, "Hey, is this cave flooding?"
Azula looked down at the water seeping past her feet, "Not to sound alarmed, but I believe it is."
"Do you remember the way back?"
"Of course. I memorised each turn we made."
"Well, let's get out of here before we drown."
"I will not argue with you on that idea."
But as the ladies turned to retrace their path the water started surging faster and the water level sharply rose up to their waists as more water flooded in from the ceiling cracks.
"Hold on!" Ty Lee held Azula upright while she continued to conjure flames from her hand to light the area, "Azula?"
Azula's eyes were focused on the rising water and in them was fear. It was terrifying to witness such a fearless firebending warrior on the edge of terror.
For the truth of fact had struck Azula the moment the water rose. Her damaged leg was slowing Ty Lee down. But Ty Lee did not know the way out and she would not leave Azula behind. So because of her weakness they would both drown in a cold dark cave.
"Leave me." She hissed through her numb lips, "Ty Lee, go on without me. I won't make it."
Her friend didn't even bother replying and instead continued to haul Azula along the tunnel as the water continued to rise.
"You can swim out." Azula's teeth started chattering, "I know I can't give you orders anymore, but just obey me this once."
A sudden surge of water swept along the tunnel and completely enveloped them. Trapped underwater, in the dark, Azula clung to Ty Lee and channelled as much of her energy into firebending as she could. Beneath her feet the rock started to break and the water pressure forced more of it apart until with a roar of the water a gaping hole crumbled open and they both fell through.
(CAVE/BOTTOM)
At the very depths was a vast cavern. In its centre was a large open stone island surrounded on all sides by crystal clear water. For now, the water was still. But even as a storm raged above and the tunnels crumbled within not one stone nor a drop of water fell into the cavern's heart.
For it was in this heart that the spirit of Yue now resided. All three candidates worthy of Sokka had been gathered on Kyoshi Island surrounded by the ocean that rose and fell at her will. Now that he too had been brought here this island had become a sanctuary. The power of the moon controlled the weather and the tide to create a weapon of unmatchable strength. On this island she would ensure the protection the people so deserved.
The water began to ripple.
By sealing the cave and flooding the right tunnels she would funnel the three candidates and Sokka to this cavern. Into the heart.
The water started to spiral around the island at the centre of the cavern. A faint blue glow shone through the water as something stirred in its depths.
(CAVE/LOWER LEVELS)
Suki had just lowered her foot onto a patch of rock when the rock gave way. Unable to find a solid grip she braced for the impact on landing. Instead she landed on something much softer.
"AGH!"
"Who's there?"
"Ty Lee?"
"Suki?"
"Where's Azula?"
"You're sitting on me!"
"Why are you two in the dark?"
"I burned myself out saving us from drowning. Hang on…"
Slowly a blue flames grew in the palm of Azula's hand and illuminated the area.
The three of them were now lying against a wall with only a single tunnel leading onwards. Despite the earlier flooding this tunnel's water level only went to ankle height.
Suki looked down to find she had indeed landed on Azula as the firebender's face was only an inch or so from her own.
"Well this is awkward." She commented, "Ty Lee, would you please help our rescuer get off me?"
Springing nimbly to her feet the acrobat gripped Suki's arm to help her up, "How did you find us?"
"Actually the cave collapsed under me." Suki looked up for the hole she fell through, though in the near darkness she couldn't locate it, "And I think I lost my equipment during that fall."
"The rocks are too wet for climbing." Ty Lee assisted Azula to her feet, "Looks like we have only one path open."
And so, adorned in their Kyoshi Warrior outfits the three made their way along the path that, unbeknownst to them, was a direct route to the cavern and its heart.
(CAVE/LOWER LEVELS)
"Are you sure this is the right way?" Sokka asked Hawky as the bird guided him down another seemingly endless tunnel, "It's just that I feel we've gone even deeper rather than up out of here."
The bird couldn't explain what it was, but some primal instinct was leading him down this path, and as a result leading Sokka that way. There was a greater power at work in this cave that wanted them to descend to the very depths, where the source was waiting.
"If this storm keeps up the whole cave will be flooded." Sokka shivered slightly as a cold wind whistled past, "Or we'll freeze and be turned into ice statues."
He paused at another junction of tunnels, "Left?"
Two squawks was his response, "Okay, so we go right then."
Straining to see in the utter darkness Sokka was unable to see the hole in the ground as he turned a corner, and Hawky was too late to warn him.
Letting out a yell of surprise Sokka plummeted through the hole. Hawky had lifted off the shoulder before the fall and now carefully descended down after his master.
(CAVE/CAVERN)
"Look at this place." Ty Lee looked around in amazement at the shining clear water and inhaled the crisp clean air, "It's beautiful."
The other two could only nod in agreement as they stopped by the water's edge, reluctant to even touch and taint the water.
"Well we may have found a lovely spot to wait out the storm," Azula sat down and massaged her leg, "But we still have no way out of here."
"Incoming!"
All three looked up in unison to see Sokka falling from a hole in the cavern ceiling and dropping towards them at a rate that promised certain bodily harm and a strong chance of death.
But as Suki and Ty Lee braced themselves to attempt a mid-air catch the water in the cavern sprang to life, lifting up into the air and enveloping Sokka up to his neck in its embrace before slowly and gently lowering him down and depositing him beside the three Kyoshi Warriors.
"Suki!" he seized her in a hug, then flung out an arm to pull Ty Lee into the hug, "Ty Lee!"
"Ahem," Azula coughed pointedly.
The three standing up reached down and assisted her back to a vertical position and embraced her.
"What is everyone doing here?" Suki at last broke the embrace, "We all took shelter in this cave and all ended up down here?"
"Why are you on this island anyway, Sokka?" Azula folded her arms, whilst leaning against Ty Lee for support, "I was never told you were visiting."
"I um," he twiddled his thumbs innocently, "I was… you know… passing by, thought I'd see how things were going, got caught in the storm, followed you guys to this cave, followed you in." he trailed off.
Azula's eyes narrowed cunningly, "You were spying to make certain I'm behaving myself or my dear brother will have me locked up again."
Sokka looked up at the ceiling, "I'm not saying that's true, and I'm not saying that's not true."
"Come here cutie." Ty Lee grabbed Sokka's head and kissed his cheek, "Great to see you again."
"Likewise." He nodded briefly, "But who was controlling that water?"
Azula was frowning at the water until she noticed the other three all staring at her, "What?"
"You are the only one of us who can use bending." Suki shrugged.
"As much as I'd love to add water to my list of abilities, I'm afraid I do not possess that ability."
"Then who was it…" Ty Lee moved to the water's edge, "Who could have orchestrated all this?"
The water started to move again and this time it split to reveal a stone pathway leading to the island in the centre of the cavern lake.
"Just a guess here," Sokka tapped his chin thoughtfully, "But I think we're supposed to go that way."
His words were met with three identical bouts of eye rolling, and not just because of the matching face paint.
So, with Suki leading the way while Sokka and Ty Lee supported Azula the group made their way along the path, between the walls of water, and onto the island. Once safely across the water surged back into place.
"Now what do we do?" Azula sat down on a rock, "Do we solve a riddle next?" she asked sarcastically.
"Now it begins."
All eyes darted around the dimly lit cavern for the source of the voice until a bright blue light glowed from beneath the water's surface. The water morphed; rising and falling, twisting and turning until it formed an outline of a human figure.
"You have all come here to share in that which we all hold dear."
Features appeared on the face as the water streamlined into arms, legs, a waist, a body, a neck. All the details forming out of the water until a woman formed out of water stood on its surface with a layer of mist forming a robe wrapped around them so that only the head and neck of water were visible.
The hair, each strand a length of water rippling down the back, shone white as the artic snow, when the eyelids opened a blue glow took the place of eyes and the water on her face shifted into a smile.
"Yue," Sokka whispered.
Her smile grew wider, "Hello, Sokka."
Maraxus: Alright then, that will set the scene for the love and romance in the next chapter.
Azula: How long is my leg going to be unusable?
Maraxus: You'll be fine in the next chapter. But when that will be I cannot say.
Azula: Why not?
Maraxus: Because when it comes to romance scenes otherwise known as lemon scenes, as I have pointed out several times, my writing abilities are not good.
Azula: So you mean it could take a while for the next chapter to be ready?
Maraxus: Most certainly. Plus I have to factor in that Yue is a water woman spirit person. What were those creatures called? Water spirits that look like people.
Azula: Not sure, so, hopefully you'll get working on this next chapter soon because I really want to get to the Dark Side endings.
Maraxus: You would. You were probably the most evil character in the entire series, apart from Zuko.
Azula: What did he do that made him evil?
Maraxus: He insulted tea, spilled Iroh's tea, then at one point said he was sick of tea… that's just evil.
Azula: …please review readers. We'll see you next time.
