Note: R.R.E!
Ciel didn't really remember what happened after he left the cabin with Sebastian in tow –after leaving Grell there with William Spears who came to pick up the Shinigami. There were only two things on his mind at the moment. The first thought being that the necromancer got away, just like the lich and secondly, where the necromancer was… with Yasha.
Normally, Ciel would have been happy if Yasha wasn't around him. He would have been grateful for the silence away from that demon. But now, since Ciel knew that the Rakshasa demon was instead captured and forcefully taken away, it made Ciel… feel… a little guilty for not doing anything more for him. He just stood there by the doorway, watching as the fight took place and ordering Sebastian from the sidelines. He should've gone fully into the room and dragged Yasha out while his butler was fighting the man.
He could have stopped the whole thing! He could have stopped the necromancer from taking Yasha! For the first time in a very long time, Ciel blamed himself.
Storming past the trees, Ciel clenched his fists tightly. He didn't even know where he was stomping off to; he was just walking, his butler following his every move. "Bochaan, this isn't the right way to go back to the mansion," Sebastian informed from behind. Ciel rolled his eyes –wearing his eyes patch once again.
"Don't care," he snapped back, kicking a rock which rolled away, hitting a nearby tree with a small thunk. A couple birds that were resting in the tree cawed loudly, flapping their wings to fly off into the distance to who knows where.
His butler sighed from behind him, most likely shaking his head. "It is best if we head back to the mansion," Sebastian told him. Ciel didn't stop walking; he just ignored the older demon as he pushed past some bushes that got in his way. "Do I have to force you for your own safety?"
After not reply back, he heard the butler come up literally right behind him, wrapping his arms tightly around Ciel's waist and picking him up. The younger demon yelped, immediately kicking his legs out on instinct as he was thrown over Sebastian's shoulder. Using his fists, Ciel tried to hit the demon as hard as he could, but nothing phased the demon who only adjusted his hold slightly before taking off for the mansion.
"Sebastian, put me down!" Ciel hollered. This time, instead of the master doing the ignoring, the butler did as he continued to run and jump. "Put me down now!" But it was no use; Sebastian used the excuse of Ciel's safety to take him home. And when safety was involved, Sebastian would do anything to protect his young master.
Sadly, there were those rare moments that Ciel regretted making Sebastian his butler forever (well until he devoured his soul but since he didn't have one...), and right now, this was one of those moments.

Ciel rested his head on the palm of his hand, letting his elbow bang lightly on his office desk. He stared straight at the door that Sebastian closed seconds before after dumping him off in his chair and leaving him in the office room. There wasn't anything going on in his mind for once. His thoughts weren't jumbled; he wasn't searching for any clues on the case. He was just sitting there, not even thinking.
He just didn't know what to do. These two kidnappers… god they were powerful. So very powerful. They were able to disappear whenever they wanted. Dammit, they could freeze one of the most powerful demon's Ciel knows –and he met a lot when he was in Hell training with Sebastian. He just didn't. Know. What. To. Do. And it was pissing Ciel off to no end.
A tiny mew reached his ears and Ciel scooted so his back was resting on the chair so he could look down under the desk. And there was that god damn black cat again, the one that loved to sleep under his desk, staring up at him with large eyes. Ciel scowled at the cat, very tempted to kick it but deciding not to.
He didn't know why he didn't kick the cat, probably because the cat didn't really do anything to him, just slept under his desk. Looking back up, he felt a weight suddenly appear on his lap. With eyes widening quickly, Ciel pushed the chair back, almost hitting the window right behind him. The stupid cat jumped on his lap and was now purring, rubbing her head against his stomach.
Ciel currently wished he kicked her now for sure.
She made herself comfy, curling up into a little ball, tail covering her nose, eyes closed. She now looked fully black with on other color. Ciel's hands were held up, away from the cat as she slowly fell asleep. And he couldn't help it, but a blush raised across his cheeks, turning his pale face a light cherry red.
"What the hell," Ciel muttered as he slowly lowered his hands. He looked at the cat with his mouth open, hesitantly placing one hand on her back and letting it rest there. Feeling her whole body vibrate under his hand, Ciel gently brushed her fur with his fingers. It felt nice, soft, very soft. There was something very comforting about petting the cat. A small smile dashed across his lips.
For some reason, this cat reminded Ciel of a dog. He really liked dogs, they were playful, protective and Ciel was always a dog person. But this one cat, something about her resting on his lap, and especially since he wasn't allergic to this species anymore, was just so relaxing.
He scratched behind her ears and under her chin when she lifted her head up. It was just the two of them in the room at the current moment with no one else to bother them. And Ciel could've sworn that she started purring faster, louder. Her nails gently dug into his clothes as she pushed her head further into his hand.
It was in this moment that Ciel realized how much he changed because of this one mission. He came to this school hoping to never be noticed and stay hidden in the shadows. Instead, he joined the Host Club, hoping that the gossip would help him find clues. After joining the club, Ciel would never admit, but, he started to slowly enjoy it. He made acquaintances with the other members (he would never call them friends) and he slowly came to grow to like them and become protective of them.
And after meeting Yasha, Ciel started to open up to other people other than Sebastian. He completely opened up to Yasha after the Rakshasa demon told Ciel what he wished for. He came to truly care for Yasha, and actually like the demon. He came to respect the laughing demon, actually enjoying when he saw that smirk decorating Yasha's face. He despised when it wasn't on him.
Now just look at him. Here he was petting a cat, the one thing he hated the most in this world. And he actually was enjoying petting the cat. He changed so much in a couple of months just because of moving to Japan to complete this mission. If he kept changing, what was he going to be like in ten years?
He wouldn't be able to think about his future though, as a couple of taps on the large doors interrupted Ciel in his thought process. Eyes widening, Ciel pushed the cat off who mewed in protest. The black cat licked her paws in anger before making herself comfy again under the desk.
"Come in," Ciel ordered, wiping off some of the fur that stuck to his clothes. The door creaked open and Sebastian poked his head inside.
"You have a visitor, My Lord," Sebastian mentioned.
Ciel tsked, crossing his arms over his chest and placing one leg over the other. "Let him in." His butler nodded, fully opening the door and gesturing for the guest to enter the office room. Let's just say that Ciel was not expecting for this person to show up in his mansion like this. Most of the time, Ciel had to go and visit this person. He never went to Ciel's old home in England.
He kept a stoic face as he watched the Undertaker enter the room, giggling as he took a seat in front of the desk without being asked. Sebastian moved himself so he was beside Ciel, placing his hands behind his back.
The young demon in the room observed the Undertaker who didn't change at all. He was still wearing a long black cloak with a gray stash. His silver hair still covered his face, mainly his scar that Ciel only saw a couple of times before. A large smile displayed all of the Undertaker's face as he continued to chuckle at nothing.
"You're butler is still quite funny I see," Undertaker spoke first. Of course he would talk about joking the moment he enters the room. That was very predictable when it came to this ex-reaper.
Ciel wasn't in the mood for small talk like this though. "What are you doing here?"
"Visiting you."
"No, why are you here in Japan?" Ciel snapped back.
Undertaker tilted his head to the side slightly. "Oh. I knew that was you spying on me and my new friend Nekozawa," Undertaker mentioned. Ciel scowled. He should have known that the Undertaker was going to notice his presence when he followed the reaper.
"What are you doing here?" Ciel repeated again.
Undertaker just shook his head though. "Why, my Young Lord. You are quite grumpy today. Is it because of the little case you got going on? I know about that. I know everything about what happened, especially about how mad you got when your little friend go taken away."
Ciel breathed in slightly. Which friend was he talking about? Was he talking about Kaoru, or was he instead talking about Yasha.
"Don't let your emotions get in the way. That will only make this whole mission worse for you if you do," the Undertaker advised with a laugh. Ciel stiffened slightly. Yasha did the same thing, laugh at almost everything. He never really realized how similar Yasha and the Undertaker were. They didn't look the same, it was more of the fact at how often they chuckled and laughed and giggled and joked around.
Breathing out, Ciel retorted back, "I don't have any emotions to get in the way of this case."
The Undertaker busted out laughing, his back arching as he bellowed out with laughter. "I never knew you were this funny, Young Lord. You came to care for that young Rakshasa demon. And he was taken away from you, wasn't he?"
He made it into a question, but Undertaker knew of the answer. There was no reason for Ciel to reply back. Instead, the young demon decided to glare at the old reaper, growling slightly.
"You lost that battle with the necromancer, I can tell. Do you know how to defeat one, My Lord?" Undertaker questioned with that damn smile still on his face. Ciel tried to wipe it off before, but he never seemed to be able to do it. It was as if it was glued on the Undertaker's grayish face.
Tilting his head up slightly, Ciel decided to admit defeat for once, "No, I don't know how. I don't know how to defeat a lich either."
"My, that is very sad of you," the Undertaker giggled, shaking his head in mock disappointment. "Whatever can you do?"
Ciel scowled, hissing, "Stop playing with me, Undertaker." The Undertaker knew how to defeat the necromancer and lich; he just wanted to see him fail.
"Why not ask that Elizabeth girl. Lizzie, the daughter of the necromancer," Undertaker said, standing up from his seat. That's it! How come Ciel never thought of asking Lizzie? The Undertaker stood up in his seat with a smile. "It was nice talking to you again, Young Lord. I'm going to stick around in Japan for a while, I quite like it here.
"I also can't wait to see how this all plays out. Are you going to succeed Ciel Phantomhive, or are you going to fall? Are you finally going to be knocked off that throne you built up for yourself, or are you going to make it larger? I can't wait to see the finale." And with that, the Undertaker left the room quickly, leaving his laugh to echo in Ciel's ears.
He frowned, looking down at his hands. He didn't know. Ciel didn't know if he was going to succeed or not. Was this the case that will make his throne crumble out from under him?
Was this going to be the one chess game that Ciel losses? Did he just meet his match?
And Undertaker is back in this story and he is not gonna be showing up again in another chapter one day. So what did you guys think? Good? Bad? Eh?
Moniker: Moniker! 'Hugs back' I'm fine now, I've gotten over it and same with my dad. I just know not to talk to my dad if I ever have a panic attack again. And I'm sorry about that fight with your friend. Did you two make up? I hope so because how could anyone ever be mad at you? Aster! You're back too! Don't worry, you can help Sebby and Grell get back Yasha. They will save him... I hope because, hahaha 'rubs back of neck' I don't know what's going to happen to him yet.
Lady Cocoa: Thanks for the support! I needed it after that day. And I'm glad that you reviewed again. Trust me, laziness has caused me to not review on a lot of stories. And after you said you remembered this being like 12 chapters, wow, has it really been that long? Seriously, wow. This has come very far.
Also, one more thing. God, I'm gonna sound like one of those girl's who only focuses on guys, but trust me, I don't. Okay, so real quick, there's this guy in one of my classes who I REALLY like. He doesn't have a girlfriend , and I really like him. I can't decide what to do. Should I gain the courage to ask him out, or should I wait or see or... GAH what should I do, help me out here guys! I need it... 'Hits head on table' God, I sound like a huge girly girl when I am a huge tomboy.
