I have made a new cover! I'll post it when it becomes relevant to the story. Anyway, I've had the best week ever apart from all the work, I hope yours was as good as mine and if I wasn't I'm sure next week will be better!

Carefully, paw-step by paw step Bloodpaw crept across the narrowing tree branch. She was out under the sky so she could see her prey and where she was putting her paws. She made sure not to sink her claws into the bark or the owl would hear her and take flight, making it almost impossible for Bloodpaw to catch it. Using her tail to steady herself, she prepared herself to pounce. Taking a deep breath she leapt and pushed the bird onto the branch. Too late she realized that the tree wouldn't hold their combined weight.

Snap!

The cat and bird plummeted to the ground and landed with a thump in a bramble thicket.

"Bloodpaw, you okay?" Burnpaw asked, racing up to her, concern in his meow.

"I caught it!" Bloodpaw replied. "Um, could you help me out of here?"

Burnpaw smiled and helped her out with ease.

"You really should become a warrior."

Burnpaw shook his head. "With all the extra training I'm giving you I won't have to wait much longer. Besides, it's like I'm a mentor already."

He was a different cat during the day. It was like the darkness made him feel trapped and the sunlight was able to thaw the cold that surrounded him.

"Stop it!" She laughed. "You really deserve it."

"Thanks."

The pair had started training almost two moons ago during the day, and both had improved immensely.

"I'm going to mark the LeafClan border, see you later!" Bloodpaw called, already sprinting to meet Sparrowstrike. She felt good about Swallowstrike at the moment. She was content with just being friends, and that suited her just fine. Even Wisp was relaxed about them for the the being.

Just as Bloodpaw saw the familiar black pelt of her LeafClan friend, she realized that she hasn't left the owl in the brambles. She was about to turn back but Swallowstrike had already seen her.

"Change your mind?" He asked teasingly.

"I just remembered that I left the owl I caught in some brambles."

He shrugged and smiled. "You know, you should come to the gathering this moon. It would be nice to talk to you without feeling guilty for once."

"Yeah...sorry about that. But would it be alright to do that? I mean Magpiestar might do something."

"You're NightClan now, she can't touch you. Anyway, there are some kits here to meet you. I'll get them."

"What'? Really? How did you manage to get them out of camp?"

"That part was easy, Weaverwing lets me take them out all the time."

He disappeared and returned with two little balls of fluff, one bounding in front of him, the other trailing nervously behind.

"This is Applekit," he said pointing at the black and red she kit at the front. "And behind me is Shimmerkit."

"Is this Bloodpaw?" Applekit asked but didn't wait for a reply. "You really do smell funny! Is it true that you guys sleep during the day? Do you really eat bats? Can you catch me one?But I want it to be a live one so I can kill it!"

Her sister stepped out. "You can't catch a bat without killing it quickly because it'll scare of other prey with it's really loud screaming."

Sparrowstrike smiled at their bickering. He mouthed "siblings" and rolled his eyes.

"Hi guys, my name is Bloodpaw. And yeah we do sleep during the day and I love hunting bats."

Applekit's eyes widened. "No way, that is so cool!"

Shimmerkit smiled shyly. "Dad told us about you! He'll be really happy to know that your safe."

Sparrowstrike shook his head. "You mustn't mention this to anyone, okay? Not even to Icekit."

Shimmerkit sighed but nodded. Applekit shrugged like it was no big deal.

"Can you show us how to hunt bats?"

Bloodpaw smiled. "Okay, copy me."

The next few moments were spent showing the kits how to hunt bats and Sparrowstrike making them promise never to use it.

"We should go before we're missed."

"Yeah, bye."

Bloodpaw smiled happily. But the kits had reminded her of more than just Flighfeather. In her eagerness to be around Burnpaw she had completely forgotten about Darkkit and how he had seen the ghost with the creepy black eyes. And she also needed to ask Wisp about that. So, remembering to grab her owl on the way back, she headed back to camp.

"Darkkit, are you awake?"

"Bloodpaw? Bloodpaw!" Darkkit purred.

"Hey, how are you? Can I talk to you for a while?"

"Okay."

They moved into the den where they wouldn't be overheard and sat down.

"That cat that you followed...why did you do it?"

Darkkit hung his head. His punishment was to stay a kit while his siblings become apprentices without him. Guiltheart and Lostpath and they had received his siblings as apprentices. But it wasn't too bad though because Darkkit had decided that he wanted to become a medicine cat.

"Do you believe me when I say that I followed this cat?"

"I do."

"Well, she was white with this fluffy tail and pretty blue eyes. But then in the tunnels her eyes disappeared!"

Hmmm...this is so weird.

"Did your brother and sister see this cat?"

"No, and neither did my mother even though I pointed to her! My dad doesn't believe me."

This can only mean one of three things: either there is another way to get the gift besides being born with it, Darkkit is not actually related to his family by blood and most likely that ghosts can reveal themselves to a certain cat. This was most likely because then Darkkit would've seen Wisp.

"Thank you."

Darkkit looked confused. "Huh?"

But Bloodpaw streaked out the den. "Wisp!" She called softly. "Wisp, where are you?"

"Who's Wisp?"

Bloodpaw turned around and jumped. She was looking straight into those smoldering orange eyes she had come to love.
