The politician Yang was guarding was a short man with a very large belly, She couldn't help but wonder if she pushed him over would it be like putting a turtle on it's back. She was standing an arm length behind him on the makeshift stage that was made out of old wood.
It seemed structurally unstable but she guessed it was the best they could build
Yang watched the tiny crowd as the politician gave his speech. Her eyes scanned the people, if their faces showed their true thoughts then none of them would volunteer, and she didn't blame them, they weren't fighters nor did they have a reason to become one. It didn't help that his "speech." was crap.
The politician knew it to, he was a sweating mess, while she, covered in armor and uniform felt a bit cool. She watched as a few people started wandering off, bored of the whole thing, Yang watched a woman walk off, she wore a red dress and not for the first time today she thought of her sister.
The last time they met Ruby had given her a lot to think about. From what she gathered Ruby had created a separate personality to deal with what was happening.
The white Fang had something important to her that kept her killing. But she was still saving people when she could, she had warned her that the Black Death was about to kill Weiss.
Yang couldn't help but wonder what could be so important to her.
Yang sensed something incoming thanks to her Aura and she acted, she grabbed the politician's shoulder making him stop mid sentence as she stepped in front of him raising her arm, a bullet hit Ember Celia and sparks blew around the two. She narrowed her eyes scanning the buildings surrounding them. The shooter was using a silencer, the people in the crowd were screaming and scattering in different directions running for safety.
She took another step to the right as her aura let her know another shot was coming, and she blocked that, the shooter had changed positions, who ever they where they were fast.
"Who would want to kill me?" The politician cried his voice shaking.
"Don't worry, You'll be fine." She told him risking a glance to see the rest of the team forming behind her one on either side of the politician and one behind.
"Where is the shooter." One asked. Yang stretched her left arm out and blocked a bullet from hitting the soldier. He nodded his thanks to her.
"They're shooting from the tree line, between the buildings." She told them.
"We need to get him out of here." one stated. Yang nodded sharply, never taking her eyes away from the direction she thought the shooter was going to fire next. "When I say go, move back into the building behind me." Yang ordered stepping forwards slightly.
"Go!" she shouted sending a barrage of shots down between two buildings to her right the soldiers moved back keeping the politician between them.
The Reaper hid behind a large tree as blast after blast hit the tree or tore into the grassy earth on either side of her, keeping her in that spot.
Her sister was good, while she was pinned her target was escaping, and she couldn't fail this mission, even if it she was up against her sister. She narrowed her eyes as a blast tore down the side the trunk pelting her mask with shattered tree bark and splinters.
She grit her teeth and changed out the normal rounds for ice ones and chambered one before rolling out from behind the tree on her belly and fired. Sure enough Yang lifted her arms to block and ice formed around them.
The Reaper shot forwards as fast as she could. They would have moved the man into the building behind the stage they were on. They wouldn't leave with out Yang. She would avoid Yang and head for the building and dispatch the politician. She had no need to fight her sister.
She was blurred past the stage and something hit her hard knocking her sideways into the dirt.
"Ruby." Yang said to the girl laying on the ground.
The Reaper shook her head as she rose to her feet. "Get out of the way." She growled. This was exactly what she didn't want.
"Sorry, it's my job to keep him alive." Yang stated tensely.
"And it's my job to kill him." Reaper said gravely. Yang's eyes flashed red. "Your job, killing people is not your job!" Yang said her voice rising. "Did you forget your dream of becoming a huntress and helping people?"
"That's why there called dreams," Reaper said distantly. "Soon or later you wake up and face reality." Yang stared at her, "Look how far you've fallen, you leave me no other choice but to take you to Gold."
Reaper grinned to herself under the mask at the name. "Oh Gold. I'm coming for him soon enough."
"What do you mean, Why Gold?" Yang asked.
"You figure it out, ask questions, think for yourself." Reaper said stepping forwards towards Yang and Yang responded with fist raised. "Not another step."
"Or what." Reaper chuckled, "Take another step and the kid gloves come off." Yang warned.
The Reaper pulled out Crescent Rose and unfolded it. "Only one of us is walking out of this time." Ruby said changing mags again hoping her sister would take the warning and back off.
"I tried little sis, so don't blame how this ends on me." Yang yelled letting anger fill her.
Reaper tightened her grip as she grimaced. "This is where our story ends." She said locking Ruby away deep inside. It was time to fight.
The siblings lunged at each other.
"Yang, this is your baby sister.' Yang looked at the baby wrapped in a blanket in Summer's arms and understood love.
Their weapons clashed loudly in the quiet of the town.
"Yang wait!" Ruby squealed as she tried to keep up on her tricycle, her little legs working hard.
Yang blocked blow after blow from the sharp blade of Crescent Rose.
Ruby stared at yang, wrapped in an over sized red cloak and hood, tears in her eyes. "when is mom coming home?"
Yang screamed in the Reapers face in anger and frustration as she punched Crescent Rose pushing her back.
The Reaper swung hard and fast multiple times, Yang blocked them all she finished by swinging her scythe down over head, Yang went to block and The Reaper collapsed Crescent Rose down. the decreased length missed Yang's arms and she fired it multiple times into Yang's chest but she didn't step back she pushed forwards throttling The Reaper in the face.
She stumbled but Yang grabbed her shirt collar and lifted her and slung her at the nearest building Ruby flipped through the air righting herself and fired at Yang a few times before she put Crescent Rose behind her and fired using the recoil to push her back towards Yang.
"Let me save you!" Yang screamed as she shot at the Reaper. She swung Crescent Rose catching the blast with the blade and swung it around sending it back to Yang the move surprised yang and it caught her in the face knocking her flat on her back. Her aura failed and her body flashed slightly.
"Your done, give up and go home." The Reaper stated, praying her sister would back down.
But Yang stood, "You were right, only one of us is walking out of here, and ill bet it all on the fact you can't kill me, but I can beat the shit out of you and drag you home!" The siblings rushed each other for the final time. Ruby swung her scythe and Yang easily ducked under it and delivered a crushing right hook to her sister's ribs she saw her aura fade but Ruby didn't falter she swung Crescent Rose, frustrated Yang punched the weapon away leaving Ruby open and she swung her fist at Ruby's face for the final blow.
That dreadful mask fell and she saw Ruby crying, Yang froze, hesitating at the sight. A smile split the Reaper's face as she swung her scythe at her sisters neck.
Yang realized her mistake but it was to late, there was no time to block or to dodge.
Crimson danced in the air.
