Chapter 29
Caroline looked back at Klaus and said "how about we all have something to eat together".
"Great" he gestured to the others and they all made their way to a large table near the pool table. As they were all walking, Caroline walked away from them and grabbed Kol's upper arm and dragged him with her.
Everyone watched as Caroline dragged Kol and started to talk to him in a corridor. Bonnie said "what are they doing?"
Everyone shrugged and Stefan said "Caroline just warned us that if any of us listen she will make our lives hell" they all looked towards Caroline and she smiled at them before going back to talking to Kol.
Elijah said "I think it's safe to say that we should not intervene or spy on their conversation" everyone nodded as they knew that Caroline could make their lives hell.
After Caroline pushed Kol up against he wall and told the others not to listen, Kol said "what are you doing?"
"Kol, what's going on with you and Bonnie?"
Kol eyes drifted to the floor when he heard her name but then he smirked and said "nothing, Caro. You know me always one for the party, especially when it involves a witch".
He laughed slightly but Caroline shook her head and said "Kol. I know you, don't act like the playboy around me like you do with the others...you care about her, don't you?"
Kol scoffed and said "she is- she is...a means to an end".
Caroline stared into his eyes and knew he was lying "you can't even say it. You really do care about her. I know when you're lying and right now it is as clear as anything".
Kol sighed in frustration as he knew that he couldn't win "what does it matter? She doesn't care".
She shook her head and said "I never thought I'd see the day that you would care for someone outside of the family. I'm proud of you...have you asked her how she feels?"
"She said that her heart is ruling over her head and that she couldn't let it happen" she sighed and gave Kol a sympathetic look.
A few minuets later they both went back to the table just in time to order. Caroline sat next to Klaus and Kol sat in the only placed left which was across from Bonnie. They started to tell each other stories of the past and Liz was telling them about the town. The one thing they stayed clear of was Mikael as no one wanted to wreck the day as everyone was laughing. Just as they finished Lunch, they were all still talking but Bonnie excused herself to go to the bathroom as the tension with Kol was getting too much.
As Bonnie entered the bathroom she opened up all the cubicles to see if anyone was in there but when she found it empty, she stood in front of the mirror and splashed some water over her face. She took a few deep breaths but then when she looked up into the mirror she jumped as she saw Caroline behind her. She turned around and smiled "hey, what are you doing in here?"
Caroline took a small step towards her and said "I know".
Bonnie narrowed her eyes and said "know what?"
"How you feel about Kol" she stiffened "it's so obvious, the way you looked at each other this morning and the way you have been acting around each other since the moment we arrived".
"Caroline, listen to me when I say this, stay out it".
She shook her head and said "I can't do that, Bonnie. You're my friend and he's my brother".
"If you really are my friend then you will stay out of it" Bonnie said before she waked out of the bathroom leaving Caroline alone.
That night after a long day of shopping Rebekah, Stefan, Caroline and Klaus were all sat in the living room. Caroline and Klaus were sat on one couch; Caroline was leaning against his chest as they both had their feet on the couch. Stefan was sat in the corner of the couch but had an arm wrapped around Rebekah as she snuggled into him. They were all laughing about things that happened in Gloria's bar and how the witch never attempted to kill them, that's when Rebekah said "we should celebrate".
"I thought that was what we were doing" Klaus said as he held up his glass of bourbon along with Stefan.
Caroline laughed as Rebekah rolled her eyes "not like that. We should through a ball".
"A ball" Caroline said. "Are you forgetting that ever ball we have had someone has died" both girls looked at Klaus and has he made an offended face which made Stefan laugh.
"Let me guess you killed all of them" Stefan pointed out to Klaus.
Klaus rolled his eyes and said "you should be happy, Stefan. All the men I killed were ones who came up to me to ask it they could court Rebekah. If I even let one of them do so, who knows where we would be today".
"Thanks" Stefan said and he got a look of the girls.
Rebekah said "come on, Nik, it will be fun. You get to see Caro dressed as a princess".
"She isn't a princess she is a queen".
Caroline laughed when Rebekah looked at her and said "Caro".
Caroline looked up at Klaus as she was still leaned against his chest "we have a ball and only invite our closest friends and allies and you could call that werewolf pack you made a deal with to turn and you could turn them at the ball. Show everyone that there is something new".
"My love, I can't just turn a full pack of werewolves into hybrids at the" Caroline leaned up and began to whisper in his ear. Rebekah and Stefan giggled slightly as they knew what she was doing. Caroline eventually pulled away and he said "fine you can have your little ball".
Rebekah shouted "Elijah".
Elijah walked into the room and said "yes sister I could hear you and I will begin to call people. I'm assuming that you both will sort the rest out".
Caroline said "who else would we trust".
They all laughed and Elijah sat down on a chair and said "brother, hopefully this time we can be civil and not kill our guests or at least threaten them" Klaus rolled his eyes as everyone laughed.
