Chapter Twenty-Nine:
Where
Tsuna shivered as a chill ran up his spine, digging his hands deeper into the pockets of his green coat hoping to fight off the winter air as much as he could. He'd much rather be at home snuggled on his couch eating cheap convenience store ramen like always, but he ate his last one yesterday and with no food in the house, he needed to go out. As usual the 24 hour store was the only thing to brighten up the dark street aside from the street lamps. When he entered the store he immediately sighed as the warm air thawed his cold body.
"Back again," Tsuna looked towards the voice that seemed to be talking to him and smiled when he met the eyes of one of his favorite people. Said person was looking lazily through hooded eyes at Tsuna, his hands holding a few cards, playing a lonely game of Solitaire, trying to pass the time. No one really came late at night except for weirdos and him.
"Yes, I only go to the best stories Ibe-san" Ibe snorted before going back to his game. Tsuna browsed around until he reached the section that sold ramen and quickly gathered six cups in his arms. He smiled as he made his way back to the register and put all the cups of ramen on the counter. Ibe looked up from his game and scanned each of the items before holding out his hand to take Tsuna's credit card. He quickly handed it to him and waited, anticipating the show he was going to watch with the deliciously cheap ramen.
"Your credit card has been denied."
"What."
Ibe shrugged and showed him the screen that had a red box with white bold letters that read 'DECLINED.' He groaned as he seen the message.
"How is that possible? I put money in it a while ago," Tsuna whined. Ibe just shrugged again, apparently it was his favorite gesture.
"Don't know kid but, go to the bank and get it sorted out I know you don't like the machines." Tsuna groaned and gathered everything back into his arms, it wasn't his fault the ATM's decided to break every time he so much as looks at one. As he was about to turn around to place his things back Ibe cleared his throat to catch his attention. "Since you're a regular, and not such a bad kid, I'll pay for you this once," the shopkeeper mumbled.
A gasp left Tsuna's mouth as he started to thank Ibe profusely over and over again. Ibe mumbled complaints under his breath as he started to pack all the cups of ramen into a plastic bag and handing it to the grateful kid in front of him. Said kid grabbed the bag and continued to assault Ibe with thanks until he was out the sliding doors of the convenience store. He then walked home going down the cold street that was occasionally lighted by the conveniently placed lamps.
When he finally made it home he almost cried of joy, his fingers were numb and his feet felt like blocks of ice. He opened the gate to his home that looked identical to every other one on the street. As soon as Tsuna got in, he kicked off his shoes and beelined to his kitchen with the bag of ramen glued to his hand. The house was fairly clean with patches of things that didn't belong in certain places, it had a certain warmth to it that not many had the opportunity to experience, in all it was cozy. The hum of the microwave was the only thing that filled the peacefully silent home, until enthusiastic voices echoed from the living room.
Tsuna grabbed the now steaming cup of ramen and fell back into the cheap but relatively comfy couch. A few hours later he was still there, the ramen gone and sitting on the floor next to the couch while his eyes were focused on the TV but not paying attention as he slowly drifted to a peaceful state of sleep with the light of the TV harshly illuminating his face.
Another beam of light attacked his eyes harsher than before, and heated his face, almost stirring him from his sleep.
The light continued to attack him no matter how hard he prayed it to go away, Tsuna repositioned his body in hopes of avoiding the light only to yelp as he felt blades of grass and pebbles scratching his sensitive skin. He opened his eyes and frantically looked around as he noticed the boring white walls of his house turn into an expansive forest, the couch he was supposed to be sleeping on was replaced by the ground, and his ceiling now a frightfully blue sky. Snow no longer blanketed the ground, instead it felt like summer. His green jacket, T-shirt, and jeans that he was too lazy to change before falling asleep were replaced by a silk shirt and pants that were like pajamas and tickled his skin every time it brushed against him.
Tsuna scrambled to his feet and continue to look around the forest that expanded farther than he could see. The leaves of the trees barely left any room for light, so it was just his luck the sun peeked through right where he was sleeping. He took a deep breath of the oddly clean air that, despite the warm weather, chilled his insides. Slowly he headed off in a random direction hoping he would end up somewhere he could at least know where he was and how the hell he got there. Not even 30 minutes into his walk he stumbled upon a clearing that only had a tree in the middle of it. He gawked at the sight of it. It was something out of a fairytale, the tree itself extended into the clouds, the thick trunk was covered in smooth light brown bark, and surrounding it were leave so giant Tsuna could easily hide himself under them. As he walked closer to it, making sure to avoid the roots that stuck out of the ground, he noticed small scratches on the bark with letters that spelt words he couldn't read or understand.
Crinkling made him freeze in his spot as he recognized the sound of someone stepping on a leaf. He swiftly turned around only to see two girls standing a few feet away, the shorter one had a smile on her face, she had short golden hair which reached slightly past her chin, she wore a white sundress that stopped just before her knee and she was barefoot. Next to her was another girl with an unreadable expression adorning her face, she wore a white sleeveless jumpsuit that contrasted with her dark wavy hair that extended past her shoulder.
"Who-" he didn't get to finish as he started coughing. His voice sounded raspy like he hadn't used it in a long time and his throat ached from speaking one word. The shorter girl looked worriedly at him while he coughed, she wanted to come closer but held herself back.
"Please don't strain yourself Tsunayoshi-sama, let me introduce myself," she said softly. He wondered how she knew his name and why she addressed him with such high regard. "My name is Kyoko and I'm a sun remnant, and this is Hana, a cloud remnant."
Kyoko and the quiet Hana bowed deeply to him. 'Sun remnant? Cloud remnant? What the heck is going on!'
This took way to long to update but I'm so happy it's finally finished! Anyway, my excuses are about to flood out. My computer broke so if there any mistakes it's probably because I was using my phone, also I rewrote this chapter an embarrassing amount of times before it came out to this, sorry if it's sloppy I was rushing to get this done. Honestly, I like it though. I might use this later but we'll see. Thank you for reading, leave a review I want to know if you hated it, loved it, or just want to give criticisms which is always welcome.
