Forever Young
So I got dismissed from school early again today. Thank you snow! I thought I'd update. Thank you to the few people who have review the last few times! I really appreciate it! So I'm just going to apologize in advance for the shortness of this chapter and probably the chapter after this as well. It's the way things are timed and how I want to end them. Sorry! Maybe I'll update again later tonight because I don't have to teach tonight. Oh for those of you who don't know I assistant teach dance at my studio on Mondays and sometimes other days when people need subs. Anyways back on topic, enjoy this chapter!
Chapter 29: Family Reunions
Cassidy's POV:
"Awww they are so cute!"
"Are they together again?"
"I don't like this."
"Oh hush James and be happy for your best friends."
I groan in annoyance at the sound of all my friends. I have no idea what they are talking about but I know whatever it is I want them to knock it off.
"Shut up," I grumble at them.
"Yeah what she said," another voice closer to me said. I slowly open my eyes and realize all of my friends are standing in front of me. Marlene and Lily are giving me knowing looks, James is glaring, and Remus looks uncomfortable.
"What are you guys looking at?" I yawned moving to get up.
It didn't work
I looked down and saw a hand resting protectively over my waist. I looked behind me and saw Sirius resting peacefully.
"Bloody hell," I groaned. I tried to yank myself out of Sirius' grip but it failed miserably. I ended up falling to the ground pulling Sirius along with me. I fell to the floor and Sirius practically fell on top of me.
"Morning love," he said. He tiredly picked himself off the floor and pulled me up as well.
"Sleep well you two?" James asked irritably. I rolled my eyes and pushed passed him into the kitchen. I started the kettle so I could make tea for everyone. I called everyone once it was ready and they each came in to get it. When I went into the living room Chris and Grace both walked down dressed already.
"Morning kids," Grace smiled. "Everyone sleep well?" There were a mixture of 'yes's' and 'mmhm's'. We began to open presents each person taking a turn. I ended up get clothes, shoes, jewelry, make-up, candy, and books. There was even a present under the tree from Spencer to me. His girlfriend must have sent it over.
"You kids go get changed and we'll start on breakfast," Chris said tying the trash bag with wrapping paper and extra trash in it. We all headed upstairs and began to get ready for the day. I pulled on a pair of jeans and a white lacy blouse. On top of the blouse I pulled on a mint green kimono and on my feet I wore slouchy brown boots with lace up the sides. I pulled my hair out of the braid it had been in all night and my hair was wavy.
The rest of the morning was quiet. We had breakfast, talked, and just hung around. A little bit after lunch Marlene, Lily, and Remus left to spend the rest of the day with their families. I then excused myself to my room to look through the potions book some more. It was going to take forever considering this book is three times the size of any normal potions textbook. A short while after I had entered my room there was a knock at the door.
"Come in," I called slipping the book carefully into my desk. Sirius' head poked through the door and he smiled.
"Hey," I said. He came in and closed the door then sat on my bed. "What's up?" I asked him.
"I need a favor," he said. "I need you to come with me somewhere tomorrow."
"Where?" I asked.
"My parent's house," he said cautiously.
"Your parent's house?" I asked. "Why are you going there?"
"Remember earlier this month I got a letter from my brother saying they wanted to meet with me? Well I sent one back and said I would," he explained to me. "And I don't want to go alone just in case. If I bring someone they'll be a little bit more intimidated."
"Why bring me? Why not James or Grace or Chris," I asked. "I'm not that intimidating. I'm not even five and a half feet. I don't think you're plan will work."
"'And though she be but little, she is fierce.'" He quoted. "Right?"
I laughed and nodded. "Right."
"Good," he smiled. "So tomorrow meet me on the back patio around 8am. And we'll apparate from there."
"Ok," I nodded. "I'll be there."
"See you then," he smiled.
"See you then,"
"Are you sure this is the right place?" I asked the next morning. "This is in the middle of muggle London."
"Positive," he said. "This is where I was born and raised. In number 12." I looked at him confused. There was no number 12. There was 11 and 13 but no 12.
"Look," he said pointing between the two townhouses. They were beginning to move apart and another house was set in the middle.
"I love magic," I breathed in awe.
"Don't we all?" he teased. The door to number 12 Grimmauld Place opened and a handsome young man stepped out who looked like an exact replica of Sirius.
"Regulus," Sirius called to the man.
"Sirius," he called back. "And you brought a friend. How lovely."
"Hello," I said sticking out my hand. "I'm Cassidy, but you probably already new that."
"Indeed I did," he said ignoring my hand. "The girl stays out here." He said now speaking to Sirius.
"No," he said back. "She comes with me."
"Mother won't like that," Regulus said shaking his head. "She stays."
"She's coming with me," Sirius growled.
"I'll stay," I told Sirius putting a calming hand on his shoulder. "I'll be fine. Honest."
"Fine but he stays with you," Sirius commanded pointing at his younger brother.
"Okay," I accepted.
"I will do no such thing," he claimed.
"Yes you will," I told him. "If you want Sirius to talk with your parents you're staying out here with me. Got it?" He stared at me with cold eyes but nodded. He jerked his head back at the house.
"Go," he commanded Sirius. He patted Sirius' shoulder and urged him to go on. He looked at me and his brother before heading into the house. Once he disappeared behind the door I sat down on a bench across the street. I patted the seat next to me and gestured for Regulus to sit down.
"No," he said. "I don't associate myself with blood-traitors."
"Suit yourself," I said. I pulled my gray sweater tighter around my body cursing myself for not wearing something warmer than jeans, a tank top, and a sweater.
"Why did you come with him?" Regulus asked breaking the silence between us.
"He asked, I said yes," I answered him. "He's my best friend. If he needs me I'll be there. He's the same way with me."
"Oh," he said in a small voice.
"You ok?" I asked the younger boy.
"Fine," he answered sharply leaving the silence between us tenser now.
"Does he ever talk about me?" he asked in the same small voice as before. I turned to him and gave him a sad smile.
"I'm sorry Regulus," I told him. "But you kind of abandoned him."
"No I didn't," he exclaimed. "He abandoned me! He left me here all by myself with them! It's his fault! Not. Mine!"
"I'm sorry," I told him standing up and placing a hand on his shoulder like I did with his brother earlier. "Do you wanna talk about it?" He shook his head quickly and sat down on the bench. I smiled grimly and sat down next to him. Suddenly there was a loud shriek from across the street and before I knew it Sirius was out the door and sprinting across the street in my direction.
"We gotta go," he said breathlessly. "Now."
"What happened? What did you do?" Regulus exclaimed.
"Nothing! I was just talking and she went all crazy," he shouted back.
"Who went crazy?" I asked trying to calm them both down. At that moment a women who I assumed to be Mrs. Black ran out of the house screaming and shrieking at Sirius.
"We gotta go," he yelled grabbing my arm. "Come on."
"Sirius wait!" Regulus exclaimed. "I have to talk to you too."
"Not now Reg," Sirius told him. "Back at school, where it's safe."
"Fine," he said. He then reached out and hugged his brother. This caught Sirius by surprise. But soon he too hugged his brother.
"I'm sorry," he whispered to Regulus. "But we have to go. Come on Cassi." He grabbed my hand and we took off down the road dodging the curses and spells Mrs. Black sent our way. We ran until we knew we were safe. We turned down a dark alley and apparated back into the Potters back garden. We stumbled into the house breathless from running and collapsed. I laid down on the floor my chest heaving up and down. When we were finally able to breathe properly I asked him what had happened.
"She was asking me how I was and being all nice at first," he explained. "And then she started asking questions about you and the Potters and I was getting defensive and I may or may not have called her a bitch then she started sending curses at me and I ran out of there as fast as I could."
"Jesus Christ Sirius," I groaned. "Did you have to piss her off?! Now she's- wait did you say she was asking about me?" He nodded his head.
"Why the hell would she be asking about me?" I asked shocked and surprised.
"I have no idea," he said admitting defeat.
"Did she hurt you at all?" I asked staring to check him over. He pushed my hands away and smiled.
"I'm fine," he said. "Honestly, I couldn't be better."
"Good," I breathed. "I'm glad you're alright." I reached over and hugged him breathing in his scent.
"Hey guys," Grace said as she bounded down the stairs. "Chris and I have to go, we got called in for a few hours. Something about a crazy lady sending spells at her estranged son in the middle of muggle London. Know anything about that?" She gave us a suspicious look. We looked at each other and began to laugh. She rolled her eyes and floo'd to the Ministry Chris going soon after her.
"Come on," Sirius said grabbing my hand leading me upstairs. "Let's go look in that potions book. The sooner we find a cure for your brother the better."
I nodded my head and followed behind.
Sorry this wasn't the best chapter ever. I promise it gets a bit more exciting in chapter 30. Things are finally going to start getting pieced together. So I've decided that I probably will update in another hour or so. Make sure you look out for that! See you in a little bit! Enjoy the snow!
