BECK
What do I do now? Do I turn Jade in? Do I just move on? Should I go to the doctor? What if this screws with my memory issues? What do I do about Tori? How do I tell her? And will she believe me? Probably not. So how would I help her believe? Where do I go from here?
Beck was sitting in his camper trying to sort through his thoughts. Andre wanted to stay with him, but Beck had insisted that he needed alone time.
BLING!
Beck absentmindedly picked up his phone to look at the face that popped up on the screen. It was Tori. Wait! TORI?! Beck hurried to open the text. He was eager to see her, and hoped she was asking him to come over to talk. He desperately needed to tell her what was going on, but he knew he would sound crazy.
Tori: Beck, as much as I don't really understand, and as much as it may hurt, we need to talk. I don't want to get you into trouble with Jade, but I really feel like I deserve an explanation and an apology. Let me know. -Tori
Beck was slightly confused by what he was reading. He stared at the text for a while, before he noticed the last text sent to her from his phone. "Tori, look, Jade and I talked last night. One thing led to another, and now we're together again. No, things aren't perfect, but I think she deserves another chance." Beck immediately knew what had happened, and he knew how to prove it to Tori. Jade should have deleted the text.
Suddenly, he knew what he had to do. He stood in front of the mirror, his eyes were rimmed in red and swollen. Crying really doesn't suit you, guy. He tousled his hair and decided to worry about it later. He headed out the door on a trek for Tori's house.
When Beck arrived, he didn't hesitate to jump out of the car and run for Tori's door. It's Saturday morning and someone has to be home. Beck rang the doorbell and stared down at his shoes. When the door opened, Beck jumped forward to embrace her. "TORI!"
"...I'm... not... Tori, but I totally can pretend for now."
Beck jumped back as quickly as he'd jumped for the embrace. "Trina... where's Tori?"
"I don't think you should see her right now..." This was probably the first time Beck had ever heard any concern from Trina for Tori.
"Trina, she asked me to come and talk... please." He begged. Trina seemed satisfied enough and backed away from the door.
"She's upstairs in her room..." Trina still sounded skeptical. As Beck walked around the couch making way for the stairs, Trina piped up again. "Beck..." Beck stopped and turned back to her.
"She is hurt. Just remember that." Beck's eyes immediately shifted to the floor in front of his feet.
He whispered over his shoulder, "I know, I'm sorry."
Beck made his way up the stairs and to Tori's room for the second time in his life. The stairs seemed much longer this time along with the hallway to her room. As he reached her bedroom door, he noticed it was cracked. He would normally knock, but her heard something that completely tore him apart from the inside out... Tori's sobs.
He listened as his heart continued to break. This hurt so much worse than anything he'd ever felt. It was an ache worse than all the times Jade had cried combined. It was so awful, he nearly doubled over in physical pain.
He pushed the door open a little more and peeked inside. What he saw shattered his insides. She was balled up on her bed in a pile of sobs. She was crying hard, lying on top of her made bed, in pajama pants and robe. As much as it hurt him, he couldn't look away. Her lucious brown locks were balled up on top of her head, and what part of her face wasn't hidden by her arm was red.
Beck moved across the room as silently as he could. He eased onto the bed behind her and wrapped an arm around her. Just as he caught her delicous scent, she hugged his arm close to her and sobbed harder. Beck felt the recently familiar pain in his throat, and his eyes began to sting. Before he knew it, Beck was sobbing with her. "I'm so sorry." He gasped.
"Don't." It was the first and only word that she's said to him out loud since everything happened. That one word had more emotion in it than all the words he'd ever heard. He could hear so much pain and anger and frustration in the one word.
"Tori..." It was only a whisper. "Please let me explain." He waited for her permission and she said nothing.
Beck didn't know where to even start. But he thought he'd start with what he thought would help first. "Tori, I didn't send you that text." He paused. "Jade did. She had my phone this morning."
He waited for a response. Nothing. He realized he should have started with something else. "And nothing happened between us. She..." He gasped, as if it was his first time hearing it. "...she drugged me, Tori." Tori didn't say a word, but Beck felt her breath catch.
"She put something in my drink... and she tried to... she was going to... take advantage of me." Beck sobbed again. "I'm so sorry." He cried harder.
Tori turned her body over to face Beck. She was looking right at him and all he could think was god she's perfect. "You're even perfect when you cry..." he sighed.
"Beck..." Beck could tell that she didn't know what to say. So he didn't expect her to. He just pulled her head to his chest and held her. Immediately he could feel his emptiness start to heal.
"I'm gonna go to the doctor. I'm gonna get drug tested and find out if it could have any effect on the memory issues." Beck was whispering to Tori as he stroked her hair. "I haven't decided if I'm filing a report yet or not. I should. But I'm not trying to ruin her life. She's just trying to ruin mine, in a way. It's hard to explain, but Jade somehow thought that this way she could keep me."
He paused for a while and just listened to Tori breathe.
"She wanted me to be her first, and she wanted to be mine." Beck felt Tori's breath catch again. This time she stirred. She moved her head back only far enough to look him in the eye.
"Your? ... first..." This is not at all how Beck had wanted to tell her.
"Yeah, Tor. You were mine." He paused and thought for a moment about what to say next. "I didn't know how to tell you before now. And-and everything just happened so fast." Beck was talking too fast now for his brain to catch up.
"Slow down, baby..." Tori placed her hand on Beck's face. "We'll get this all figured out." Beck sighed hard, so hard that it came out in separate tiny gasps, and it was more relief than he'd felt in ages.
Beck stayed wrapped around Tori for a while, and they just laid there in comfortable silence.
