A/N: I've also decided that I will not go through with the prequel because I feel like not enough of you guys told me that you would like to read it.

I stood up from the dirty ground and slowly walked over the edge to the cliff. I shifted my eyes so I could see better in dark, and looked down. I couldn't see the Alpha. There was no sign of him.

"Madison!" I heard the voice that belonged to my ex-boyfriend.

I turned around and saw Derek jogging up to me.

"You howled," I spoke before he could say anything, "Why'd you do that?" I frowned deeply.

"You were in trouble," he said.

"I'm fine now," I said softly, completely changing my tone.

"But your bleeding."

My hand went to my jaw line, wincing when I put the slightest pressure on the wound.

"I'll heal," I told him.

"What happened?" He asked.

"An Alpha was here."

"Why were you even out here in the first place?" He breathed out.

"I had a lock on his scent so I followed him, and it led me here. I just wanted to know why he was doing this. He didn't say anything," I explained.

"I take it you two fought," Derek guessed.

I nodded, "We tumbled down a hill, then he went to slash my throat, but I kicked him and he fell off the cliff."

"Do you think I killed him?" I asked, looking Derek in the eyes.

He shook his head, "I don't know, but if he is still alive he's going to be very angry."

I closed my eyes, resting my forehead against the passenger door window. The humming feeling of the car was slowly putting me to sleep.

I had asked Derek to take me home when he walked me out of the woods. If I'm being honest he hadn't said much after he found me by the edge of the cliff, and I didn't really know what to say. I could feel the awkward tension, the one between the ex's.

Subconsciously, I rubbed my stomach. It always made me feel calm when I did that, and I know it made Grace feel safe too since I could feel her emotions and vice versa.

I felt the car coming to a stop making me open my eyes. The car was parked down the street from my house.

"Thanks for dropping me off," I said, getting out of the car before he could say anything.

I began walking towards my home on the footpath, ignoring Derek's calls. They got quieter as I got closer to my house, and I assumed that meant he was going away but he actually caught up to me.

"What are you doing?" I asked, hugging my mid-section.

"Coming with you," was his reply.

"I don't need you to."

"The Alpha could come for you so I'm staying the night," his voice was calm.

I stopped dead in my tracks, turning to face him, "No you're not."

"Why?" He whined. He actually whined! There's always a first for everything, I guess.

I gave him an annoyed look, "Don't whine at me. Look, my Dad and Allison are home and if they see you, World War Three will start, and just because they've retired doesn't mean they won't try to kill you. Their wounds are still fresh and if or when they see you, it might end badly."

"What about your wounds? Are they still fresh?" Derek asked softly.

I opened and closed my mouth a couple times, before speaking, "We're not talking about my wounds here, I'm talking about theirs."

I turned around and continued walking. I went around the side of the house, climbed up the big tree that was next to my bedroom window. The window was open an inch, just how I left it.

I quietly climbed inside and turned on my dim lamp, heading for my dresser. I grabbed my pineapple pyjama top and shorts and walked into my closet to get changed.

When I walked out, I spotted Derek sitting on the window seat, looking down at the floor. My eyes glanced behind him and saw that the window was shut.

As I sat at the end of my bed, Derek stared at me, his eyes raking over me.

"My Mum would of liked you," he spoke. I raised my eyebrows in a surprised manner.

"What was she like?" I asked, leaning forward, interested that Derek was opening up to me.

"Her name was Talia. She...she was an Alpha that everybody wanted to be friends with, I guess, or they always wanted to be in her good books. She always said she'd never give someone the bite unless she desperately had to." I could sense some sadness coming from him when he spoke.

"So your pack was your actual family? Like relatives?" I quizzed, folding my legs Indian style.

"Yeah," he nodded.

"What about your siblings? What were they like?" I watched as Derek took in a deep breath.

For some of the night...or should I say morning, he told me about his family. I found out he had another sister, a younger one, Cora. He told me she was the sporty one, she never liked to wear dresses and she had a major crush on Stiles back then. Without me even asking, he told me about his childhood, what he was like back then, and from what I heard, I would've liked to see it for myself.

"When are you leaving?" He asked, now changing the subject as his eyes gazed upon the boxes stacked up in three's.

"Saturday morning," I answered, wrapping my arms around my stomach.

"Where abouts in France are you staying at?"

"Annecy. My Dad's cousin, Carole, lives over there with her family so he wanted to visit them, to catch up on some family stuff."

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" He asked, "Are they hunters?"

I shook my head, "Not anymore. They retired after her husband was bitten in an attack," I responded, keeping my voice low so I wouldn't disturb Dad or Allison.

It remained silent so I got up and walked back over to my dresser and started to pick out my outfit for later in the day. When I turned around, I jumped, seeing Derek standing in front of me.

I went to say something, but he spoke first, "Don't leave." My jaw dropped slightly. "I was lying when I said I'll be okay when you leave," he cupped my cheeks, rubbing his calloused thumbs on them, whispering softly, "please don't leave."

I felt a little bit of anger bubbling up inside of me, but I quickly suppressed it.

My eyes fluttered close at his touch, but then I reopened them, staring into his sparkling, pale coloured eyes. "I have to go, and you know that," I said, curling my hands around his wrists and pulling them off me. "There's nothing stopping me from changing my mind."

I looked away and quietly padded over to my neatly made bed, I pulled the thick blankets back and slipped in.

"You should leave now," I said quietly, knowing he still would've heard me.

Tuning in on my super hearing, I listened to Derek's footsteps, they stopped short, and then I could hear him taking off his leather jacket.

He still wasn't going to leave. A part of me wanted him to, but I also didn't. His presence brought me a sense of comfort, or maybe that was just Grace, and her emotions were impacting on me.

I woke up, sitting up sharply and gasping. My eyes darted all around my room, in search for Derek, but there was no sign of him.

I had another dream. Instead of the pain, it was pleasurable. I'm really getting sick of these sex dreams.

Angrily, I pushed the blankets off me and got out of bed. I walked out of my bedroom, down the stairs and into the kitchen.

It was only a quarter passed five. Dad and Allison were still asleep, they needed it so I was going to be as quiet as possible.

I started craving pickles and ice cream so I grabbed them from the fridge and freezer. Unscrewing the pickle jar, my senses were overloaded with the sweet, sweet smell.

It was almost four-thirty so Cassie would be here anytime soon. I walked downstairs and found Dad sitting at the kitchen table, writing something down on paper. Allison was staying at Lydia's place for the night, hanging out.

"Are you gonna be okay here, all by yourself?" I asked, watching him intently.

"Oh, yeah. I'll just finish up packing the weapons and move them into storage. And maybe also with the furniture," he answered. "All of your room is packed up, right?"

"Most of it. My bed still has to be pulled apart, along with the side tables, dresser and desk."

I walked over to the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water.

"The weather should be nice in Annecy. What are you going to do first when you get there?" He asked.

I swallowed the last bit of water in my mouth, before speaking, "Oh, I'm not going."

"Excuse me?" My eyes darted to Dad, who wore a surprised expression.

"You heard me," I chuckled, suppressing my anger, "I said I'm not going."

"But you're the one who suggested it," his tone of voice was confused.

I frowned, "And now I realised what a huge mistake it was. I mean, what if Carole or her family members do something that puts Grace or myself in harms way. I'll never forgive myself if something happens."

"They are retired, just like Allison and I. They wouldn't harm either of you, you're family," he defended.

"Am I? I'm a werewolf, carrying a werewolf's child, who is, conveniently, also a werewolf. They won't see me as family, maybe as a monster or a disgrace. Not to mention I'm also adopted."

Dad stood up and made his way over to me, "That doesn't make you any less a part of this family."

"I've made my decision and I'm not leaving. Nothing will change my mind," I said strongly.

A car honked from outside, "Cassie's here. I gotta go."

I grabbed my school bag off the island bench and walked around Dad, heading for the front door.

Cassie's silver car was parked out the front. I jogged to the car and hopped in.

"Hey," I smiled.

"Hey, you okay?" She asked, turning her car back on and driving out of the driveway.

"I, uh, yeah, I guess," I answered.

"Tell me what happened," she said softly, but with a knowing tone.

I fiddled with my fingers, answering, "I told my Dad that I'm not going to France. He seemed pretty disappointed about it."

"I...I thought you were the one who suggested to leave Beacon Hills, to heal properly."

"Derek visited me last night," I offered, instead of explaining about my little travel in the woods, "he wanted me to stay, he even pleaded. I told him that nothing would change my mind," I chuckled, "it's funny 'cause I said that same thing to my Dad."

"So when Derek told you to stay, you changed your mind because of him?" She asked.

"No," I shook my head strongly, "I made the right choice for my baby and myself, my decision had nothing to do with him."

I scanned the lake house once it came into view. Another car was parked out front. It appeared to be Natalie's mustang.

Opening the passenger door, I got out and started walking on the path up to the front door, I could hear Cassie's footsteps behind me. I opened it and entered inside. I could hear laughter and music playing.

Natalie, Ashley, Ben and Jeremy came into view from what seemed to be the living room.

"Hey," Ashley wore a bright smile, along with the others.

"Hey," I returned, hugging Natalie as she came up to me.

"I am so sorry," her words vibrated on my shoulder. I instantly knew she was talking about the accident and Adam.

"It's okay, it's not your fault," I said.

"Now tell me what I missed at the formal?" I asked, clasping my hands together.

She smiled shyly at Ashley who gave her one right back.

"What, did I miss something?" I asked, chuckling. "Come on, please me, dying to know what happened."

"Well, prom was okay, we were a little worried about you and Adam, but Jeremy said he saw you two leaving so I assumed everything was okay," we sat down on the soft lounge, "Ash and Ben must of had a wonderful night because they also left too," she winked over to the couple as Ashley blushed, hiding her face in the crook of Ben's neck. I smiled at them.

"What about you and Isaac? What happened?" I asked, tucking some of my hair behind my ear.

She smiled again, but this time it was a dreamy one, "He was perfect all night, such a gentleman. He looked mighty fine in and out of his suit."

My jaw dropped, "Out of his suit? Did you–oh my god, you did, didn't you?" My eyes were lit up and I was smirking.

"Yeah," Natalie nodded.

I squealed, before grimacing. "Ew, that's totally gross." Isaac is a pack mate so it's like hearing about your brother having sex. It's so weird...and very disturbing. "So, does this mean you and him are together?"

"Yeah, I think so," she looked down in her lap, still smiling.

I grabbed a glass cup from the top cupboard in the kitchen and poured myself some water.

"Pizza is here!" Ben called.

I chuckled, rubbing my stomach when I felt movement in there. Grace must be hungry too, I joked to myself.

I left the kitchen as Ben walked into the family room where everyone else.

"Oh my goodness, this looks absolutely looks delicious," Natalie moaned, grabbing a slice of ham and pineapple and putting it on her plastic plate.

I grabbed my own plate, taking a slice of extra cheese and a pepperoni. I might go back for more soon.

About two hours later, I was lying down on my back, my head resting in Jeremy's lap. We had almost finished all pizza boxes, but no one else was brave enough to eat the rest considering we were all full.

10 Things I Hate About You was playing on the flat screen tv. The moment I first watched this movie, I fell in love with it. Plus, who cannot resist seeing Heath Ledger. Totally hot, but looks so much better with his blonde hair. We were up to the part where Kat and Patrick were having a paint ball fight.

The doorbell rang, echoing throughout the lake house.

Ashley groaned, before speaking, "I'll get it."

I blinked a couple times, before actually closing my eyes. I was really tired so I decided to have a cat nap.

Then I hear Ashley yell out.

"Natalie, Madison, it's for you," Ashley called.

Grunting, I got off the comfy floor and walked with Natalie to the front door, frowning when I saw Derek and Isaac were standing on the opposite side of the threshold.

"Hey, can we talk?" Isaac asked Natalie. By the sounds of it, it didn't sound too good. Natalie nodded, passing through the threshold and walking off with him.

I closed the door behind me, walking out onto the patio with Derek.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, looking up at him.

"I just drove Isaac over here," he said causally, but I caught a glimpse of...guilt? Why would he be guilty?

"Well, you could've waited in your car," I pointed out. "But you came here for a reason, so tell me."

It was silent for a moment.

"Um, Cassie called and told me you changed your mind about going to France," he started off and I scoffed, shaking my head, of course she told him, "that you changed your mind because of me–"

"Well I didn't, okay?" I cut him off, "I slept on it and then I made the smart choice to not go, it had absolutely nothing to do with you, I already told Cassie that."

"I want you to go to France."

I narrowed my eyes at him. "And why would I listen to you?" I asked, raising my voice a little bit.

"Because you're young, you need people to tell you what to do, you have no idea what you want, you're child," I could sense some sadness and anger in his voice.

I slapped him right across the face. How dare he say that.

My eyes shifted gold, glaring into his red orbs. I growled in warning, "I don't need others telling me what to do, and I haven't for a while now. I maybe young, but I am certainly not a child. I'm 18, what do you expect from me?"

"Someone who's more mature," he snarled, growling deeply.

"Well I have to be now, don't I? I'm pregnant–"

"And who's fault is that?" He asked, rudely cutting me off.

"We're both at fault here so don't blame it all on me," I clenched my jaw.

"I don't know what I saw in you," he shook his head and I caught another glimpse of guilt in his eyes.

Was he feeling guilty for meeting me?

My eyes shifted back to the normal colour. As those words left his mouth, my heart felt like it was being ripped out of my chest. I'm pretty sure it was written all over my face.

I glanced down to the wooden floor, "I should of known," I whispered mostly to myself, but I knew he could hear me, "you're never going to change."

I turned around and opened the door, going inside. Closing the door behind me, I leaned against it and calmed down my heart beat. I listened in on the other side to Derek. He stood there for a couple more seconds before walking away.

Later that night, Cassie dropped me off at home. She didn't try talking to me and I didn't bother to say anything. I think she thought I was angry at her, and I think deep down I was, but that's only because of the pregnancy hormones. If I weren't pregnant then I wouldn't be angry at her, but I wasn't going to tell her that.

Natalie had also been upset ever since she spoke to Isaac. She explained to us that he told her she was a mistake, that they shouldn't of met or slept together. That always happened to her, she could never find the right guy, and that pained me. In a sense, I understand where Isaac was coming from, he was protecting her so the Alpha Pack wouldn't use her against him, but he should've kept it in his pants in the first place. So I'm also angry at Isaac.

And Derek.

I dropped my bag on the floor and collapsed onto the lounge with a sigh.

Rubbing my belly, I closed my eyes, resting.

"Madison?" I heard Dad's voice.

I hummed, opening my eyes as I saw he took a seat next to me.

"How was the movie night?" He asked.

I frowned at the tone of his voice. It suddenly made me feel bad.

"I'm sorry," I apologised, turning to him, "I'm so sorry."

"You don't have to apologise," he said softly.

"Yes, I do," I nodded, "and now I'm hoping you still have the plane ticket."

That made Dad face me, starting to smile, "What made you change your mind?"

"I think I'm just scared," I responded, "but I'll have you and Allison there with me. I'll be okay."

I wrapped my arms around Dad, slightly squeezing him as a sign of comfort.

"I miss Mum," I whispered, my vision going blurry.

His grip tightened on me, "Let it out," he whispered back.

So I did.

I cried. I cried for my family, for Adam and for myself.

A/N: I have to admit that this chapter was a little hard to write.

Madison was quite fickle in this chapter, but I have my reasons as to why that is. Not gonna tell you until the next book.

So what are your thoughts on this chapter? Constructive criticism is okay, but no hate.

There's only one chapter left. Hopefully I'll update it a lot sooner than I did with this one since I'm now on school holidays. It's graduation time! Well, not yet...

If you have ANY questions, don't be afraid to ask :)
