Disclaimer: Some violence, sadly no lemons or zest at the this time, mention of teen sexuality - oh I don't own anything Twilight related. And on with the show…
Chapter 28: Went it rains, it pours..
News of my fight with Tanya made its way through the student body with a lightning speed. It was even faster then my break up with Edward. She was now sporting a very lovely broken nose with raccoon eyes. Every time she looked at me she just scowled me but stayed away. The word was out, Bella Swan was mental. I didn't care as long as they left me alone. I could only hope that the solitude and Tanya's new heroin chic look would last until graduation.
Ms. Laramie however was worried about me and wouldn't leave me alone. No one, either teacher or student, would admit that I was the reason behind Tanya's new look but it didn't take a rocket scientist to put 2 and 2 together to get 4. The staff was worried about me too but unlike the legacy crew, a couple bad eyes was not going to scare Ms. Laramie off.
She pulled me in one day. "Isabella," she said, "I'm going to ask you a question and I want an honest answer, did you have anything to do with those lovely black eyes Ms. Denali is sporting?"
I looked away. "Okay Isabella," Ms. Laramie said, sighing, "It's not unknown what you have been through in the last few months and really last few years. I am frankly surprised you didn't snap sooner but I can't ignore this unless you want to go back to the States early."
"What do I need to do – apologize to Tanya," I asked resigned to my fate. What else could I do – I was only emancipated because I could prove that I was able to take care of myself. If I got expelled – there went 4 years worth of work down the toilet. The irony – the one time I really stand up for myself, I was going to be punished.
"You're coming here twice a week and we're going to talk – really talk," Ms. Laramie said, looking at me intensly, tugging her red hair, "I have already spoken with Headmistress Mulligans and she agreed. Otherwise you're going home."
"Why do you care so much," I asked, in complete disbelief. The was really a slap on the wrist. I mean I broke Tanya and had more or less admitted it. Surely was worth a suspension.
"Because frankly you're good student and you have done too much to get to this point and lose it all before you're finished," she said, "and I don't want you spending the rest of your young life in a state that you ruin it. So do we have a deal?" She was staring at me again, daring me to say no.
I nodded. "Good – you're first appointment is tomorrow – you miss any of them without a good reason – your bum is on the first plane back to the States– understood," she told me, getting up, efficiently ending the conversation.
I agreed and left in disbelief. I needed to get my room and meet Lucy. We were going to study together. I got about 2 feet out the door when I ran into Alec. "Isabella," he said, smirking me.
"I swear Alec – you say a word to me – you're following McCarthy and Tanya," I told him, not in the mood for his shit. Besides, I had promised no more fights. If I stayed there I was going to kill him.
"C'mon Isabella – Edward and Alice aren't speaking to me and you're mad at them – what do you say to some revenge, I even make it worth your while," he asked winking at me, pulling his wallet out. Glancing over, I saw the Cullens watching us, Alice looked like she wanted to puke.
"You know what Alec – I'm going tell exactly what I told you and your moronic friends before – some things you can't buy or apologize your way out of. Look over your shoulder," I said gesturing to where they stood. Edward was a particular shade of red. Alec turned pale again.
"Excuse me," I muttered, passing by them in the hallway.
"Bella – wait," I heard Edward calling. I walked faster and would have made it if he wasn't so goddam fast. "Jesus wait."
"Leave me alone," I told him, fumbling with my keys, not bothering to correct him on his choice of moniker.
"Listen – I'm so sorry about your father and what I did," he said, trying to stop me.
"I swear to God Edward, if you don't leave me alone you're going to match Emmett," I threatened, my fury raising every second I was standing there.
"Please you have to -," he started to say and I whipped myself around and slapped him hard. He stared at me in shock – Alice had caught up by this point.
"Fuck you," I hissed, shoving him, "How dare you! Why the hell do you think you get to decide when I have to listen to you! You and your sister sure as hell didn't give me the opportunity. Don't you ever tell me what I need to do or that I should give you a chance. Don't you ever tell me how sorry you are about my dad. He stayed an extra day because I was a mess and he died! He's dead because you two are a couple of spoilt brats!"
Lucy had come by this point and looked them, "What did you do now! God stay away!"
Taking me gently, she led me into my room. "Stay here," she ordered and walked back out.

I rubbed my face as I watched Lucy take her into room. "Oh my God," Alice muttered.
"What," I asked, thinking that a slap on the face was hardly out of line.
"She thinks that we're responsible for her father's death," she said.
Before I could respond, Lucy came out of the room. "Oi – what is with you two wankers," she hissed, "I told you both when she was away leave her alone. She doesn't want anything to do with either of you!"
"I, I-" I stuttered.
"You what Edward – you choose to believe that slag over her so live it!" she shouted and then calmed down a little, "for everyone's sake."
"She blames us for her father's death doesn't she," Alice said, rather then asking.
Lucy nodded, confirming Alice's suspicions, "He switched shifts with another cop and he got shot," she said.
"Oh God," I moaned, the guilt piling up.
"Cut the pity party Cullen – it won't solve anything and as much as I would like to blame you two for everything, it's not your fault. You didn't pull a gun and kill him, some git in California did. But you need to stay away," Lucy took a deep breath and pleaded, "She's fragile enough as it is, please for her sake – if you ever did care about her, stay away." She turned around went back to Bella.
"Mr. Cullen, Ms. Cullen," I heard down the hallway.
"Shit," Alice mumbled, we turned around and saw Ms. Laramie down the hallway, holding Bella's sweater.
"I thought I told you both to stay away from Ms. Swan. Please come with me," Ms. Laramie said.
One hour later, Alice and I walked out of Ms. Laramie's office with detention until the end of term. I was one demerit from being banned from graduation. Not that I cared, what was the point? Without Bella everything was meaningless. The only thing I did care about was the fact Alec would be joining us. Since the whole thing happened, Emmett and Alec had unofficially switched rooms. We couldn't really switch because Emmett's parents wanted him to end our friendship and I couldn't stay with Alec because I would really kill him in his sleep. This worked for everyone.
I looked at Alice and said, "We need to leave her alone." Lucy was right, this was hurting Bella too much and I loved her too much, I owed her that. If I let her go hopefully one day she would listen to me again. This was pure karma for everything I ever did here at this school. This pain was almost unbearable.
"But-" Alice started and caught Alec looking at her longingly, "you're right." Alec had been stalking her over the last month to get her back. It was killing Alice. If anyone got it at this point it was Alice.
Two weeks later

Things had finally calmed down and this whole thing with the legacy crew had finally died down enough to stop being gossip. I kept to myself for the most part, keeping myself as invisible as possible. It worked for the most part, the Cullens seem to have finally taken the hint and were leaving me alone. The rest of the Legacy crew was following their lead.
I was walking by the girls bathroom when I heard someone screaming, "NO, NO, NO!"
Rushing into make sure that no one was being raped, I saw Alice Cullen huddled in the corner, grabbing her head.
My first instinct was turn on my heel and leave but my dad's voice popped in my head. "Bells – you help someone when they need it," his gruff voice echoed in my head.
"Alice," I said, getting down to my knees, "What's the matter?"
She gasped and looked at me. Her green eyes, so like her brother's, looked at me dully and handed me something. Taking it in my hand, I realized it was a pregnancy test. A positive pregnancy test. Now it was my turn to gasp.
AN: What a mess… I know this chapter was a little on the shorter side but I thought there was a long going on. I know this has been angsty and there were be lighter chapters coming but lets face high school is a angsty for a lot of us. I can't speak for everyone out but I thought it was fun while it lasted but I was glad when it was over.
Thanks again for everyone who took the time to read/review/favorite/follow this story. A Long Journey hit 8800 views this week which is very exciting for me.
