How Jack is mortal
ChildofTime!John returns for this one.
I'm so sorry about this being late. If I were really smart, I would use this as a ploy to get more suggestions. Wait! I should do that. SUGGEST THINGS PEOPLE!
This is during miracle day, explaining RTD's rather big goof on Jack's immortality. No one died in season two.

"How is it that Jack is mortal in the first place?" Ianto wondered aloud. The group had gathered in the not-exploded hub due to johns earlier interference with the timelines for which everyone save Gwen was extremely thankful
"Well eye candy how much do you have phenotypically in common with early hominids?"
"Not a lot I suppose.
"But they're only from three centuries in the future." Gwen tried to point out. "And we have several million years difference. So it would only make sense they would be affected right along with us."
"Only one problem with that thought gwen." Jack interrupted sighing. "John and I are from three millennia in the future not a measly three hundred years."
John made the most disgusted face anyone present had ever seen. "Goddess, imagine being that close to a human. Yuck. Thanks for that mental image Jack."
Andy pouted. "What, do you have a problem with us humans?" He asked. John smiled.
"Only the 36% that will survive the last of the world wars the upcoming genetic purges and cosmic battlefields to conquer colonize and suppress half the galaxy."
"We wouldn't." Gwen complained looking to jack to back her up. Jack shrugged.
"You know those monsters I talked about, who took gray as a child. Those were the last of what could be called 'pure humans'. My world was founded on the principal of peace and freedom to love regardless of species gender or religion. It became a safe haven for those who sought refuge from the empire's reign of terror. My ancestors fled to boeshane soon after the empire was founded seeking religious freedom."
"But that still doesn't explain the massive genetic differences between you two and the rest of us." Owen spoke up for the first time. John rolled his eyes.
"The one thing gene Roddenberry got depressingly right was humanity's proliferoisness in the galaxy. 3000 years of contact with other species severely watered down and knotted up the bloodlines."
"That still doesn't answer my question though." Ianto pointed out. How is jack even mortal in the first place?"
"Oh." John shrugged. "Well duh that was supposed to be a surprise wedding gift for you two."
Jack turned to look at his friend stunned. "That was you? But the doctor said it was impossible!"
John snorted. "The doctor is an idiot."
Far out in time and space too busy lugging around said idiot to be present for this conversation his mother agreed.

Keep in mind, John's mother is the TARDIS in this.
