Heey guys so I am kind of at a deli ma... I have kinda run out of climatic ideas for this story. Considering on the last chapter I had someone tell me the chapter was really boring. But hear me out for this.
Please remember I am a full time student, juggling skating, working out and friends. Writing sometimes just squeezes itself in there but not by much. I write to make you guys happy and I am sorry if a chapter bores you to tears but I am TRYING. If you don't like then don't read but please do not complain when I spend 5-6 hours (and ya thats how long it takes per chapter) to write a chapter and have it up to you on Tuesday. Also keep in mind that a lot of people write a chapter and get it up when they have the time, where I have one new chapter every week. So keep the hateful comments to yourself and if you are honestly bored with this story then do not read so BYE.
Anyways after that rant is over, enjoy chapter 29!
She had been accepted to the University and she was going with Cato.
"Can I ask you a question?" Clove said as she sat on her back porch with Jackie. The weather had finally started to warm up and it was enough for the girls to be out in long dresses as they sat in Clove's cabana drinking ice tea.
"Sure" Jackie said as she took another sip and slid her sunglasses up from her face to rest on the top of her head.
"How are you doing? Really?"
"Whats that's supposed to mean?" she asked eyebrows raised.
"I mean" Clove said as she slipped her sunglasses off of her face as well. "How have you been since everything happened?" Jackie was silent for a long time before she took a big sip of her drink and started taking after she swallowed.
"I've comes to terms with what happened, and I have realized what did happen was a second chance for me to re-start my life and not screw it up" she said with her head held high.
"What does that mean?" Clove asked.
"What it means is, I am thankful that the baby died"
"What how could you say that!?" Clove yelled at her.
Jackie showed no frustration but Clove definitely showed it. She thought Jackie was taking crazy talk about the baby dieing. "I say that because what was I going to do with it if I had it" Jackie said. "Clove I'm seventeen years old I was not capable of having a baby. I never thought I was going to be able to tell my parents or Thresh and I never even went to my doctor about it" she said sniffing. Clove could tell it was starting to hit her. And although Clove didn't want to be a bad friend, she wanted the realization to hit Jackie.
"Every night I would pray that God or someone would give me answers as to what I was supposed to do. And losing the baby was the answer. I screwed up and that's how I got pregnant. It was a chance for me to re-start everything. Which I am going to take" Jackie said wiping the tears from her eyes that never hit her checks.
"But you never told Thresh did you?" Clove knew the exact answer to what she was asking.
"No" she said. "And I am never going to. He doesn't need the thought of his dead child in his mind"
Clove wanted to protest but she knew she couldn't. Jackie was never going to listen to her and Clove had to try and put her self in her shoes. Clove might of done the same thing if she was pregnant with Cato's kid. Just thinking about that gave her shivers down her back, that was something she did not want to think about.
"Okay. I'm sorry for bringing it up" Clove apologized. "I have no idea what you went though and I shouldn't be nagging at you for what happened"
"It's okay" Jackie said finishing off the last of the ice tea. "Everything is good now"
"Everything is not okay she is so grieving" Clove told Glimmer and Kat Monday morning at school.
"Grieving about what?" Glimmer asked. Clove stopped dead in her tracks. Kat and Glimmer didn't know about Jackie and the baby, she was the only one. Clove had to somehow find a way to dig herself out of the hole she had just jumped into.
"Um grieving about... prom, about prom" She said trying to make it sound believable. "I think she's afraid Thresh won't ask her"
"What that's insane they've been dating for what four, five months?" Glimmer said. She wore a pink dress with a black jacket over and her blonde hair was curled and pinned away from her face. She looked like she was ready for prom at that moment. "Of course he's going to ask her. He doesn't even really have to ask her, but he better" she said as if she was taking about her and Marvels relationship.
"Has he asked you yet?" Clove said to Glimmer.
"No but he better, I think he's just trying to find the right way to ask. What about with Cato?"
"Um ya were not going together" she said as they started to walk down the hall together.
"What?!" Glimmer protested. "Why not?"
"Cause were broken up" she said making it oblivious. "Why would he ask me?"
"You don't need to be dating for him to ask you to prom" Kat said chirping in. "Besides he still loves and cares about you that's why he would ask you"
"If he loved me that much he wouldn't of kissed Kate at my birthday party, plus he would of told me about their past together"
"You know" Kat said pointing a finger at her that had a gold band with a bright blue stone on it. "Not everybody has to tell their secrets to one another. Sometimes it's nice to have a little secret"
"Well what secrets are you keeping then?" Clove questioned her. "Like where did that ring come from?" Kat looked down at the ring on her finger and slid it off and handed it to Clove. Clove looked inside the band and on it was engraved prom?
"That's how he asked me" she said taking the ring back and sliding it back on. "The stone is Australian opal, one of my favourites"
"At least you have a boyfriend who loves you" Clove mumbled hoping both of them didn't hear, but they did.
"He DOES love you which is why he is trying so hard to get you back" Kat said pointing her perfectly painted pink nail at her.
"Put that finger near me again, and I'll bite it off" she said making a snapping noise with her mouth. Kat quickly pulled finger away from Cloves face and giggled.
"Glad you find it funny, next time you'll lose the finger" she threatened as she flipped her hair over shoulder.
"I'd like to see you try" Kat smirked as they headed down to Clove's locker down the hall. Though the crowd of people she could see balloons hanging off the top of her locker. She turned to look at Glimmer and Kat's face and they were just as confused as she was.
She didn't know what was happening as she came closer. "Its not my birthday why is there balloons on my locker?" she questioned.
"Heck if I know" Kat said her eyebrows raised.
Just a few feet from her locker she could see why there was balloons at her locker. There was also a huge bouquet of roses in the arms of Cato. He was standing right beside her locker with a big smile on his face. Clove turned to say something to Kat and Glimmer but they were gone. They disappeared just as she would like to at that moment. She slugged herself up to her locker and looked up at Cato. He handed her the roses and there was a card in it. She reluctantly took the flowers and picked the card off the top. On it read
I am so sorry for everything that has happened. I truly love you, will you go to prom with me?
"Well" Cato said looking at her expressionless face.
"Will you go to prom with me Clove?"
Sooooo what did you guys think?
I hope it was better than the last chapter...
