~~ Chapter 29~~

A/N: Beta Dee, u/2285193/Deonne

Hey there readers. I'm having such a hard go of things as of late. I won't bore you with the details or hold you up from reading this very late chapter. Although I will explain in short, after the death and illnesses of my family members I ended up getting shingles. No fun at all, but I am on the mend and feeling much better. This chapter has been sitting here waiting to be completed for sometime now.

As for the next instilment I'm really not sure when that will be, but I promise you it will be much sooner then this one.

Thank you all for your continued support and as always reading my words. Much obliged.

Happy reading.

We stood there together starring at the poorly lighted place. In that moment I wondered where the red light was and how ironic that it was so dark. I wanted to runaway. Everything inside me told me to head for the hills, but my hand was in his and I knew that I would never let it go.

Upon approaching the entrance to Alice's Fortress my breathing hitched. I suddenly felt my cop senses going into overdrive.

"Edward, something seems off." I whispered as my eyes looked upwards to greet his.

Edward for the most part had learnt to trust my instincts in the short amount of time we'd been together. He pulled me off to one side where we were hidden in the shadowed of New York City.

It took me all of two seconds to realize that my instincts were right and so was Edward's reaction to whisk me away into the seclusion of the night.

There before us was a tall man with blond hair. He seemed to be in a bit of a hurry and by the look on his face he wasn't in good humor either.

"Edward, I've seen him before." I whispered.

Edward nodded, "Yes, he was with me the first time you and I met at Rumors." He confirmed.

I remembered him now, lounging away on the sofa beside Emmett and Edward.

"Who is he?" I asked

"His name is Jasper. He is Alice's husband." He confirmed.

I looked at him stunned, "Alice has a husband? How could the Bureau not know about this? It wasn't in any of our documents…" I rambled out

"Because, Alice didn't want anyone to know and so no one knows about it." Edward answered simply.

"But that's just ridiculous there would be documentation and we'd… I mean the FBI would've been all over it." I stated matter of fact.

"Bella, if there is one thing I know… the villain is always one step ahead." He smirked.

"That's were you're wrong Edward," I shot back his smug little grin, "The villain almost always thinks their one step ahead and in the end their always cocky and fuck up somewhere."

Edward pulled me tightly into his chest. I closed my eyes waiting for the impact of his kiss and… nothing. I opened my eyes to see that he had his index finger over his mouth indicating for me to be quiet. I wasn't sure if I was disappointed that he didn't kiss me or that he was more aware of the surrounding areas then I was.

Love can really mess with your mind.

Jasper was about to exit the front doors when he suddenly stopped and turned to great Alice. They were arguing it was very clear to see, but I just wish that I could hear what they were arguing about.

Alice was pinching the bridge of her nose when Jasper finally pushed the door open exited and pulled the collar of his coat up to protect his neck from the coolness of the night.

After Jasper bounded down the steps and drove off Edward ascended from the shadows, "Alice" He called to his sister, who was scared have to death.

"Edward," She grasped at her chest, "what on earth are you doing lurking in the shadows?"

"We came to see you Ali" He smiled and reached for my hand.

All she did was nod and hold the door open for us to enter.

Walking through the building to her office I was stunned that she didn't have a security guard on duty. How can a woman of her caliber feel so safe with nothing more then a pane of glass and a simple lock keeping her from the outside world?

I had three locks on my apartment door and my 22 on the bedside table for god sakes.

Alice gestured for us to take a seat and she came back with two coffees in hand.

"What is it that I can do for you two…? Edward?" She spoke of me but directly to Edward.

I found myself very much intimidated by Alice.

"I have very much enjoyed my time with Isabella here, but you know that I don't pardon me…" he looked at me then back to Alice "I don't particularly like to play around with virgins."

Alice looked at Edward in suspicion and then to me. I was scared shitless that she'd seen right through us, until she started asking me questions,

"Bella, why didn't you tell me that you were a virgin?"

"I thought you wouldn't hire me Alice. Please forgive me. I need this job so badly. I really didn't think that being a virgin would matter to anyone." I stated, hoping that she would buy my whole innocent act.

She looked me over for a few minutes and then continued to talk with Edward,

"She's too innocent for what I think you might be suggesting." Alice declared.

"But I think that because of her innocents she will be worth far more than we've ever received before." Edward countered.

I felt like a piece cow hide being sold for auction.

"Have you already discussed the issue with her Edward?" Alice questioned.

"Yes, I have." He confirmed.

Alice slouched back in her chair… pissed off like no other I'd ever seen before.

"I see… so now you think you know what's best for my business?" She spat.

"No, Alice you know that's not true. I simply saw an opportunity and I thought you could share in the profits with me… since I did purchase her for a year." He smirked.

"Edward, do you even realize how you've put my business in jeopardy? Between you and that god damn Rosalie my ass is going to end up locked up like some god damn guinea pig."

"Rosalie, just saw a girl who needed some help." I whispered out before I could think straight.

Why was I protecting that trader? Oh right had to keep up appearances.

"What do you think about all of this Bella?" Alice asked me.

I thought for a moment, not really sure what to say, but if I was correct on her body language and her eyes assessing me, this is what she'd want to hear,

"I think that I've got a lot of fucking bills piling up and if I don't come up with the money by the end of the month my ass is going to be out on the street." I said,

"So I'll most likely end up prostituting… giving it away to some nasty bastard who will probably give me a STD or get me pregnant and I'll end up have abortion after abortion or worse… I'll turn to drugs and end up overdosing and dieing or end up taking my own life…" I closed my eyes for only a moment… to give it that extra oomph,

"So what do I think about this opportunity… well I think it's fucking fantastic and one year of my life given to a nice man who treats me good, buys me nice things and shelters me sounds like heaven." I finished.

Alice's answered smile told me that she'd bought my lie hook line and sinker.

It wasn't long before I was signing a contract with yet another alias name… Lisa…something or other… I really didn't pay too much emphasis on it because I wasn't planning on getting bid on at all.

This was simply to get Edward access to Alice's Internet… Right…?

When we were done Alice whispered something to Edward and then shook my hand and told me that she'd see me soon. I nodded at the appropriate time and thanked her with a pleasant smile all on cue.

Upon reaching the exit door Edward towed me off to the left hand side. I looked around half expecting to get caught and half excited.

"Where are we going Edward?" I whispered.

"Where do you think?" He smiled and I returned it.

I knew we were headed to a hidden computer area. I was so excited… probably too excited. But that couldn't be helped. I mean come on. I couldn't even remember the last time I laid eyes on the Internet.

It wasn't long before Edward was opening an ordinary door and right there in plain view was a computer, desk and a black computer chair in plain view.

"Why wouldn't Alice hide this?" I asked amazed that she would even have the balls to keep it unlocked.

"Why would anyone ever think of turning it on? I mean everyone has a computer in their storage room or basement or office. Some people still use them, but they just don't have the Internet. So why hide it... if we hid it that would lead to questions." The smug bastard smiled and turned on the computer.

I couldn't help but feel like a kid on her very first Ferris wheel ride. The joy that blue screen gave me and then to see the words Google come alive across the Internet browser just pleased me further.

"Can we look up anything?" I asked and Edward nodded, smiling as he does.

We spent all of ten minutes trying to figure out Carlisle's password when we heard the define nose of high heels approaching. Edward quickly turned off the computer and pushed the chair in as Alice's shocked face opened the door.

"Just what the hell is going on in here?" She screamed.

Edward as quick as he was said, "I was going ahead with the paperwork for our dear Lisa here. I thought I would save you some time." He smiled and handed her a printed off document on which he'd already completed before we started our mission.

Edward was a genius.

Alice looked him over and then looked at me. "Are you sure you're ready for this Bella?" She asked.

"Yes, absolutely" I smiled.

"Ok then, I'll call the usual people and we'll get a round of girls for the bid and I'll be in touch with the place, date and time."

I nodded, "Thank you so much for this opportunity Alice. You have just no idea how much you've helped me." She returned my smile.

After getting back into the Mustang and driving away… I looked over to Edward and said, "Two days and we've already had access to the internet. Now to just get back in there and crack that password."

Edward smiled and took my hand into his.

"Maybe I should become an FBI agent" He smirked.

I chuckled at the very thought
