Yeesh, sorry for being away for so long…
Anyways, hey everyone, 087-B here, and my busy life (and recent, still unfinished, week at band camp, fuck that place…) has prevented me from writing that much, which sucks, but hey, I'm here now for a short time, and that short time allowed me to crank out another chapter for you guys, okay?
And that's a good thing, right? Right!
So, assuming you guys haven't forgotten where we left off last chapter, Pacifica and Wendy had been trapped inside of the Solaceon Ruins after the ceiling collapsed, and now they have to find a new way out. Will they?
Well, duh, for plot progression. But wait until you find out how…
Now, on with the show!
-Chapter 28: Into The Unown-
Among the tombstones, Mabel shivered. She and Soos never expected the Lost Tower to be...well, what it was; a multi-floor tower filled with the graves of deceased Pokemon, with many trainers and citizens visiting those they've lost, the Lost Tower was big enough on each floor to support wild Pokemon to live inside.
A kind of Pokemon that lived inside, among Zubat, was its evolution; Golbat. Golbat were large, blue bat-like Pokémon with purple wing membranes. They had small eyes with slit pupils and a massive mouth containing four fangs; females had smaller fangs than males. While their mouths seem to be otherwise empty, Golbats occasionally display long, purple tongues. Their pointed ears were tiny, and they had short legs with long, thin feet.
Another kind of Pokemon species lived inside; one of the first instances of Ghost-Types in the region, these Pokemon were called Gastly. Gastly have no true form, due to their bodies being 95% poisonous gas. However, they consistently appear as black, spherical Pokémon surrounded by a purple haze. They have wide, pink mouths with two visible fangs. Though their eyes seem to extend past their round bodies, visible eyelids surround them. The toxic gas surrounding the main body can induce fainting and suffocation, and is capable of enshrouding an Indian elephant within two seconds. Because it is mostly gas, Gastlys will dwindle away when exposed to strong winds.
Although these were not the only kinds of Pokemon inside, there were simply too many to list, so the author had to move on with the story.
"If any carnage took place here, so many people would be sad and offended…" Mabel knelt by a grave. "We can't let Team Galactic touch this place, Soos."
"Speakin' of Team Galactic, I wonder what they're up to now." Soos pondered, putting a finger to his chin.
"Probably creating plans at their main base." Mabel suggested.
"Main base? I thought we already took out their headquarters…" Soos placed a finger to his chin and thought.
"I doubt that small building in Eterna City is where they were completely set up, Soos." Mabel explained. "I think they have a much bigger building somewhere."
"Where though, dude?" Soos asked.
"I…I can't answer that." Mabel sighed. "I don't have any ideas as to where it could be, but when we find it, we'll take it down completely!" Mabel pumped her fists in the air with determination. "Right, Soos?"
No response. Mabel's arms fell back to her sides as she looked around. "Soos…?"
She was alone, Soos was nowhere nearby, nor were there any trainers or Pokemon within the general area. Nothing but the eerie silence, the cold chill, and the ominous vibe the tower constantly gave off.
Mabel winced every time she heard a noise as she slowly crept among the many tombstones. "Hello?"
No matter how many times she called out, she never got a reply.
She felt terrified as her hope was fleeting. Where was Soos? Why was nobody around? There weren't even any wild Pokemon to be seen…
She kept walking, before a noise sounded behind her. She stopped dead in her tracks and turned around slowly, noticing a tall, shadowy figure towering over her silently. Mabel's eyes widened as she stood completely still, staring at it.
"GHOST!" She shrieked and started throwing random objects at it, but she stopped once she heard multiple "Oof!"s and "Ow!"s.
It turned out to be Soos standing there. "Dude, it's me! It's me!"
Mabel stood there silently before throwing a Pokeball at him. It bounced off of his head and flew behind the girl. "Ow! What was that for?!"
"Heh, sorry Soos, had to make sure you weren't a phantom in disguise…" Mabel smiled sheepishly before turning around to pick up the Pokeball that she had thrown at Soos.
She didn't even hear it make a clicking sound.
Candy and Grenda rode their bikes back towards Solaceon Town, returning from training in Mt. Coronet. As they did, they noticed Mabel and Soos exiting the Lost Tower. They smiled and rode over to them.
"Hey guys!" Grenda called out, waving to them. She nearly lost balance on her bike, but regained it quickly.
"Huh?" Mabel turned and smiled, waving back. "Oh hey guys!"
The two stopped as Candy began to explain. "We have returned from training in Mt. Coronet!"
"Sweet! Find any cool Pokemon?" Mabel asked.
"Yeah! Check it out!" Grenda brought out a Great Ball and threw it. It popped open, revealing a new Pokemon.
This Pokemon was a small, serpentine Pokemon that resembled a loach. The main body was a soft gray with a jagged black line running its length. Its eyes were very small, and it had a round, blue nose. It had several blue barbels, as well as whiskers. There were two rounded, blue pectoral fins and a single dorsal fin, all of which had black spots. Its tail fin was also rounded and blue, but possessed no spots. A slimy film covered it, most likely to protect it from bacteria and allow it to get away easily when grabbed.
"Whoa! What's that Pokemon?" Mabel quickly pulled out her Pokedex and analyzed the new species before her.
Barboach, the Whiskers Pokemon
Water/Ground Type
Ability: Anticipation
Its slimy body is hard to grasp. In one region, it is said to have been born from hardened mud.
"Nice catch! Up top!" Soos knelt down and held up his hand, to which Grenda gave him a high-five.
"I wonder what the others are up to?" Candy asked, to which Mabel shrugged.
"No idea." The perky sweater-loving girl answered, but then she grinned. "Come on, let's go find out!"
The four of them reentered town to see Lucas and Dipper about to engage in a battle. Lucas smiled. "I have three Pokemon that are trained and perfectly toned to use against beginning trainers, and while you aren't a beginner anymore, you certainly aren't further than a novice."
"Well then I'll just have to train and strive to reach higher goals!" Dipper threw out the Pokeball containing Monferno, the orange fire monkey popping out.
"Leading with Monferno, eh?" Lucas tossed a Pokeball in the air repeatedly, catching it in his hand each time. "Want something simple, or a challenge?"
"Hit me with all you've got!" Dipper smiled with determination.
"Heh! Kid, I like you're style!" Lucas smirked and threw out the Pokeball he held. "Go Kadabra!"
Out from the ball popped a brand new Pokemon Dipper hadn't ever seen before. He brought out his Pokedex to identify it.
Kadabra, the Psi Pokemon
Psychic Type
Ability: Synchronize
It stares at its silver spoon to focus its mind. It emits more alpha waves while doing so.
Kadabra was a primarily yellow, humanoid Pokemon. It had two large, pointed ears on top of its head, a red star on its forehead, and wide cheeks leading down to a thin snout. Its eyes were deep-set and narrow. Extending from its snout were two mustache-like tufts of fur. Kadabra's torso was segmented with bulky shoulders, a thick, brown chest, and a small abdomen marked by three red, wavy lines. Attached to the Pokemon's abdomen was a large, thick tail encircled with a brown band near its base. Its arms were thin with brown elbows, and ended in three-fingered hands with white claws. Its legs had prominent knees and large, three-toed feet, also ending in white claws. One other prominent feature with Kadabra was that it always carried around a silver spoon, one that could help amplify it's telekinetic powers.
"A Psychic-Type against a Fighting-Type? Well played…" Dipper smirked as he put his Pokedex away. "But it ain't enough to take me down!"
"We'll see about that!" Lucas thrust his arm forward. "Kadabra! Start with Calm Mind!"
"Boosting stats?" Dipper scoffed. "Monferno! Take the chance and use Flame Wheel!"
As the others watched the battle begin, Mabel suddenly had a moment of realization as she muttered to herself, "Hmm…Wendy and Pacifica aren't around…where are they?
"They said they were going to the Solaceon Ruins…but that was hours ago…"
"We can't just use a Pokemon to blast our way out." Wendy sighed as she leaned against the wall. "It'll make the place even more unstable and it'll cave in even further."
"Ugh!" Pacifica threw her arms into the air. "Well then what are we supposed to do?!"
"I don't know! Let's…" Wendy took a breath and tried to remain calm. "Let's just calmly search around for a way out of here.
"Alright…" Pacifica sighed this time.
"I think my Rotom can help keep our path lit." Wendy smiled as she descended down a flight of stairs, Pacifica following close behind.
"You know…I wonder if any Pokemon are in here." Pacifica muttered as they entered another small, eerily silent stone corridor. "If there were, we would've seen some by now, I guess…I mean-"
"Shh!" Wendy shushed the blonde.
"What?" Pacifica whispered.
"Listen…" As the two were silent, they could hear…talking from down below a floor or two. "C'mon, we could get help!"
As Wendy ran off, Pacifica quickly ran after her. "Hey, wait!"
They transcended some more stairs before reaching a bottom room, where, at the end of the long hall of a room, they saw two figures.
One was a girl, one who looked at least to be in her late teens, if not twenty or twenty-one. Beside her was a Pokemon that neither Wendy nor Pacifica could identify.
It chirped a bit, and the girl began petting it's head. "Yeah, I know Aster, we're almost done."
"Um…excuse me." Wendy started.
"Hm?" The girl turned, and it was then the others noticed how…strange her attire was. "Oh! Who are you two?"
"Um…I'm Pacifica, and this is Wendy." Pacifica felt the introduction rather awkward. "Uh, who are you?"
The girl smirked and crossed her arms. "My name is Zinnia!"
-(End Of Chapter)-
And the plot thickens…
Okay, I had a seriously huge amount of fun planning and writing this chapter, and I was excited to make tiny references to Diamond/Pearl/Platinum in this chapter, as well as introduce a brand new character at the end! What will this mean for our heroes?
Okay, now the cipher!
SUHSDUH IRU PDQB QRGV WRZDUGV WKH VRRQ WR FRPH KRHQQ DGYHQWXUH.
Good luck solving it!
Anyways, I hope you've enjoyed this chapter, reviews are highly appreciated (nearing 100!), and as always…
Stay Tuned!
