Abducted

An Unknown Foreign Beauty

Chapter 29- Epilogue

Standing on the terrace near the balustrade, Eugene gazed out at the magnificent gardens of Naldora, where his seven years old son Adrian and his new four-year-old friend, Aurora, were kneeling among the zinnias, examining the vivid blooms. Their heads were so close together that it was impossible to distinguish where Adrian's dark chocolate hair stopped and Aurora's bright golden hair began. Something Adrian said caused Aurora to give forth a peal of happy laughter, and Eugene's eyes crinkled with a smile at the joyous sound.

"They are beautiful together, aren't they?" His gaze shifted from the children to his wife, as she stepped forward, casting a shadow of her very pregnant body across the wall. With her finely carved profile and short mahogany hair, she looked, Eugene thought…Like some mysterious Roman goddess. Even after ten years of their marriage, he felt his breath caught in his throat every time he laid his eyes upon her.

"They remind me of our first meeting." He smiled lightly, "You were such a cute little thing."

"And you were such a jerk." A rueful smile touched Queen Rapunzel's inviting lips, and she shot him a sideways look before shifting her glance from the children playing below "Our son is smarter than you."

Slightly amused, Eugene glanced at his wife, "Really? So I'm growing old for you?"

"I think…" Rapunzel smiled lightly, gazing into his breathtaking brown eyes, "You'll never grow old to me." She whispered, "For me."

The amusement fled from Eugene's face and with a groan he pulled her roughly against his chest, crushing her to him. "Blondie," he whispered hoarsely, burying his face in her fragrant hair. "Blondie, I love you."

She melted against him, molding her body to the rigid contours of his, offering her lips up for his fierce, devouring kiss, and then she took his face between both her hands. Leaning back slightly against his arm, her melting green eyes gazing deeply into his, his wife replied in a shaky voice, "I think, Eugene, I love you more."

"And..." He whispered, cupping her face into his hands, tilting her head in a kiss. "What about our little darling?"

Rapunzel affectionately gazed at her belly, pregnant with their second child and guided Eugene's hand to her stomach, "I think, she loves you too."

The baby kicked in response, making Eugene's face to light up with pure joy.

Together they turned their eyes to the fireworks lighting up the sky. It was the eve of Christmas, and the kingdom Naldora and Corona were preparing for the upcoming ceremony together. The war wreaked kingdoms were once again flourishing with life and happiness with their new king and his queen. Despite her advanced pregnancy, Rapunzel insisted to celebrate the event in the traditional manner.

The magical silence was abruptly interrupted by the arrival their son Adrian, who already bore a remarkable resemblance to Eugene. But now Adrian's big green eyes were so full of tears that made both Rapunzel and Eugene to rush near him.

"What happened, dear?" Rapunzel immediately gathered her crying son in her comforting arms.

"Daddy, Aurora is going back." Tears welled up from his big green eyes, "But she didn't want go. Uncle Edward took her away."

Eugene and Rapunzel invited Edward for Christmas. In the short visit Adrian had developed an almost inseparable bond with his daughter Aurora. Of course, Edward wasn't so happy with their blooming friendship. Rapunzel glared at her husband, who was trying to smother his laughter, and then she said her crying son, "But darling, you have other friends too. You can play with them."

"No! You can't understand..." The little boy shook his head forcefully, "Aurora is my girlfriend. I promised that I'll marry her when I'll grow up." Tears streamed down from his big green eyes, as he turned his gaze at his father, "Daddy, can't you bring her back?"

Rapunzel let out a defeated sigh. Eugene, not certain how to handle his stubborn son, decided to give him some parental advice. "Umm…No… But in this case I can tell you a way." He winked.

"Don't…." Rapunzel warned, sensing her husband's intension, "Don't give him bad influence, Eugene."

But it was too late. Adrian was overly excited. Bouncing happily in excitement, he asked eagerly, almost ignoring his mother, "Really? What is the way, daddy?"

Eugene gave his wife a sideways glance before kneeling in front of his son, and said in a low, conspiratorial voice "Abduct her."
