Title: The Lost Thunder Ninja

Summary: After learning that the Thunder Academy has been destroyed, sixteen-year-old Hannah Bradley returns to Reefside California to search for her brothers, Hunter and Blake. However, during her search she will realize that her greatest mistake will be to give up, and her hardest deed will be to hold on.

"Hannah, wake up!"

"Mmm. Five more minutes, Mom."

Hunter rolled his eyes and reached out to grab his sister's shoulder. "C'mon, Hannah, time to wake up!" he said.

Hannah groaned and opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was her eldest brother's face, and then looked to the side to see Blake. "What happened?" she asked, noting the cuts and scratches on their faces.

"Vexacus," Hunter said, helping his sister back to her feet.

"Yeah. I remember that," Hannah said.

"Do you remember the big blast that followed?"

Hannah shook her head. "No, everything went black," she admitted.

"Well, our Zords are gone," said Blake.

"Oh no!"

"Come on," Hunter said, "we better get back to Ops."

Hannah and Blake nodded, and took off after their bother at a fast pace.

Within a few minutes they reached the lake hiding the portal to the ruined grounds of the Wind Academy.

"I hope the others are OK," Hannah said, walking out onto the lake. She raised her hand and the portal opened, allowing her and her brother's access.

"They're probably waiting on us," Blake said, squeezing his sister's shoulder. "Come on. Let's get down below and figure out a plan."

Hunter nodded in agreement and lifted the hatch leading to the stone steps. The three siblings climbed down, and hurried into Ops. Their eyes widened as they saw the destruction that had been caused.

"Whoa, what happened here?" Hunter asked.

"Hey, you guys made it!" Dustin said, spinning around and smiling.

"Vexacus torched the Thunder Megazord," Blake said, pumping fists with Shane and Dustin. "So we ejected. We would've been here sooner," he added. "But Hannah refused to wake up."

"Hey! Let's see you wake up quickly after a bump to the head, google head," Hannah defended, nudging her brother.

"Where's Cam?" Hunter asked, noticing the green ranger's absence.

"Lothor got here before we did," Dustin said. "We were too late."

"Better late than never, I always say," said a familiar voice. Everyone jumped and turned to see Sensei Watanabe emerging from a vacant doorway.

"Sensei!" the Wind Rangers exclaimed, rushing forward to hug their teacher.

"You're OK," Hannah said with a smile.

"It's good to see you," Hunter said.

"Finally," Blake agreed.

"You look totally normal," Dustin said.

"Yes. Lothor's energy blast reversed the transmutation and allowed me to return to my human form," Sensei explained.

"But where's Cam?" Hannah asked.

Sensei sighed, and his smile disappeared.

"He has been captured."

"Lothor."

Sensei nodded at the amber Ranger.

"We'll get him back, Sensei," Tori promised.

"It will not be easy, Tori," Sensei said gravely. "My darkest fear has come to pass. Lothor is planning on opening the abyss of Evil."

"Are you serious?" Blake asked. "But I thought that was just ninja folklore."

"It is no coincidence that Blue Bay Harbour is home to the Wind Ninja Academy," Sensei explained. "We are the guardians of an invisible gateway. A gateway that once opened will allow all the evil of ages gone by to escape."

"So why hasn't Lothor opened it before now?" Shane asked.

"The abyss can only be opened when it is filled to capacity," Sensei said. "Even then it can only be opened by a mighty force."

"The Samurai Amulet," Hannah said. "That's why Lothor tried to steal it from Miko when Cam went back in time?"

"Yes," Sensei confirmed. "I believe Lothor intends to use Cam's powers to open the Abyss, and allow the army of evil to enter our world."

A silence fell, and the Ranger's exchanged nervous looks. Only that morning Hunter had told Blake that he shouldn't pass up the opportunity to ride for Factory Blue because they were Rangers, while Hannah and Dustin had joked about knowing one another for a year already; all of them knew that sooner or later they would have to hang up their morphers. They just didn't expect that final battle to be today.

"We have to stop the Abyss from opening," Shane said, breaking the silence. "There has to be way."

"We need help," Blake said. "Ninja help."

"Where are we gonna find that?" Shane asked.

"Lothor's ship," Hunter added in. "Every ninja on the planet is locked up there."

"We could use the Dragon Force vehicle," Dustin said.

"No, wait," Hannah said, jumping up and stopping her friends. "Hunter, Blake and I should go alone. We've been onto Lothor's ship many times, and Cam and I found where he's keeping the locked up ninjas'. We can find Cam, and bring the other academies home."

"The Dragon Force vehicle is in the Zord bay," Sensei said. "Be careful, and thank you for your courage."

"You can thank us when we come back," Blake said.

"Let's go, dudes," said Hunter, leading his brother and sister out into the Zord bay.

~*Lost Thunder Ninja*~

Setting the Dragon Force vehicle to auto-pilot, the Thunder Rangers reached Lothor's ship in record time. Using the teleportation system that she and Cam had used before Hannah managed to beam herself and her brother's right onto the ship.

"He really is a genius," Blake commented as he looked around.

"You can praise him after we find him," Hannah said, tucking the remote into her gi.

"Right," Hunter nodded. "This way." He led his siblings down the hallway to their right, and then ducked behind a pillar as rushed footsteps raced towards them.

"We don't have much time before this place self-destructs," Chuboo said, running past with a group of Kelzacks. "Let's get out of here."

"Great," Blake sighed, stepping out into the open once the aliens had disappeared. "Ticking clock on top of everything else."

"Let's just find Cam," Hunter said. "Hannah, did you say that you knew how to release the Ninja pods?"

"Yep. Sensei Omino said that we had to blow the main controls on the bridge," Hannah said. "It'll short circuit the main interface cables throughout the ship. But we gotta get to it before this place goes boom."

"Then what are we standing around here for," Blake said. "Let's go!"

Hannah and Hunter nodded and rushed off after him.

They turned a corner and slid into throne room.

"Hannah!"

Hannah spun around and sighed in relief. "Cam," she called, rushing over to the Samurai and untying his hands. "What've we told you about running off on your own? You really are worse than a puppy."

"Scold him later, Hannah," Blake said. "We gotta get out of here."

"Not without the others," Cam said.

"Got that covered," Hunter said, summoning his Beetle blaster. He fired it at the main controls console and it exploded with an almighty bang.

"Someone was bound to have heard that," Blake said. "We should get out of here while we still can."

Hannah nodded and reached into her gi for the teleportation remote.

"Hey, wait a minute!" Kapri called.

"You can't just leave us here," Marah cried hysterically.

"Why shouldn't we?" Hunter asked, coldly.

Cam sighed and looked over at the two girls'. "Because they're family," he said.

"Wait, what?" Hannah asked, surprised at the revelation. "How?"

"I dunno," Cam shrugged. "But we can figure it out later. Come on, let's just get them down and go."

Hunter and Blake nodded and untied Marah and Kapri.

"Right, now can we get out of here?" Hannah asked, hearing another explosion. "Because I don't know about you guys, but i'm too young to die!"

Cam rolled his eyes and took the remote from Hannah. "Teleporting no -" he broke off as a laser hit the controller and knocked it from his hands.

"Going somewhere?" Chuboo asked, arriving on the bridge with his Kelzacks.

"Oh boy," Kapri muttered.

"For old time's sake?" Hunter asked his brother and sister.

"Oh yeah," Blake said as Hannah nodded in agreement.

"Thunder Storm, Ranger Form!"

~*Lost Thunder Ninja*~

Shane looked around him in surprise and anger. Lothor had sacrificed himself and overloaded the Abyss, unleashing thousands upon thousands of dark creatures back into the world. Some of them were monsters of the past year, others were of past Ranger teams; he barely recognized them having not faced them personally.

"How does it feel to fail, Rangers?" Lothor asked, walking out of the throng of monsters.

"You should know!" Shane shot back.

"Not this time," Lothor said with a smirk.

"Ready?" Shane asked looking either side of him.

Dustin and Tori nodded, and drew their swords.

"Destroy them!" Lothor ordered.

The monsters of ages gone by rushed forward and the Wind Rangers readied themselves for the fight of their lives, however just before the monsters could reach the Rangers, an energy blast knocked them off of their feet.

Lothor growled as he looked up.

"You mind if I play through?" Hunter asked, swooping in low on his glide cycle.

"You will never stop me!" Lothor yelled angrily.

"Maybe not."

"But we will!"

Lothor spun around in alarm, and was surprised to find an army of ninja's standing behind him. "Kelzacks!" he yelled, summoning the last of his foot soldiers in hopes of giving himself an edge over the Rangers.

"We're ready sir," Chuboo said, arriving with the Kelzacks.

"ATTACK!" Lothor ordered.

The monsters growled and charged forwards.

"GO!" Shane yelled.

The battle was on.

Hannah and Blake run towards the surging monsters and quickly became lost in the swarm; through the fighting figures they could see the others, but found it difficult to regroup with the number of monsters around them.

"Navy Antlers!" Blake shouted, catching a monster around the middle and lifting him into the air. The monster roared in agony as navy lightning sizzled through him, and then he was tossed back into the Abyss.

"Thunder Bow!" Hannah yelled firing an amber lightning bolt at a monster that had tried to sneak up on her brother. Blake spun around and grabbed the deep fried monster with his antlers, and then tossed him back into the swirling vortex.

"Battlizer!"

Hannah and Blake looked up as Shane flew over them, blasting the sea of monsters that had rushed them. They exploded and the thunder siblings tossed them over the barrier and back into the Abyss, unfortunately Lothor took care of Shane, unable to fathom the idea that the Rangers could beat him again.

"Shane!" Tori yelled as her friend fell from the skies.

Grabbing his sister's arm, Blake pulled her over to where the red Ranger had landed.

"He destroyed the Battlizer," Shane groaned, holding his arm in pain.

"Enough of these childish games!" Lothor roared, emerging from his fighting monsters and stalking over to the Rangers. "Give me those Ranger powers!"

He blasted them off of their feet with his energy lasers. He then raised the Samurai amulet and used it to absorb the Thunder Rangers of the little energy they had left.

Hannah groaned and rolled over onto her stomach, she was lying between her brothers and was feeling weak from the loss of energy.

"I believe that belongs to me," Cam said as he finally arrived. He had taken Marah and Kapri back to the Wind Ninja Academy for safety, and then returned to finish Lothor off with his team.

"Not anymore," Lothor said attacking Cam. The green Samurai hit the ramps behind him and groaned as the air left his lungs. He looked up as Lothor landed in front of him and raised his arm, ready for the final strike. "Goodbye nephew!"

"He's not going anywhere, got it!" Shane growled, as he, Tori and Dustin blocked Lothor's path to Cam.

Lothor snarled in annoyance. "Fine!" he sneered, levelling the wind Rangers with the amulet. "I'll take you in his place!" there was a green glow and the three guardians were thrown backwards.

"Come on," Hunter said, forcing himself to his feet. Blake and Hannah followed him and quickly regrouped with their friends.

"You fools, haven't you had enough?" Lothor asked, annoyed at their persistence. He blasted them again, but the Rangers weren't finished yet. They had taken an oath when they had become Rangers, an oath to protect the world against Lothor's threat, and while there was still breath in their bodies they weren't going down without a fight.

"We won't let you win," Shane said.

Lothor scoffed. "What can you do to me without your powers?" he asked.

"We may not be Power Rangers, but we've still got powers - Power of Air!"

"Power of Earth!"

"Power of Water!"

Fear flooded Lothor, and his eyes darted around wildly as the wind started to pick up. "What's happening?" he demanded.

"Ninja Powers!" Tori, Shane and Dustin yelled blasting Lothor with their own brightly coloured powers. The combination of Earth, Water and Air hit the rogue ninja in the chest, lifted him off of his feet and threw him into the Abyss with the rest of the fallen monsters.

There was a huge explosion, and the Abyss resealed itself.

Silence fell the moment the Abyss had closed. Hannah was the first to her feet, and stumbled towards her friends. "You did it!" she said, throwing her arms around Shane and hugging him.

"We did?" Shane asked, awkwardly wrapping his arms around his ex-girlfriend.

"But what happened?" Tori asked, confusedly.

"Lothor's darkness," Blake said, trying to explain. "It must've overloaded the abyss."

"Causing it to implode on itself," Cam added.

"So he's gone? Really gone?" Dustin asked.

"I believe so," Cam said.

"And our Ranger powers?" Hunter asked, looking at his morpher.

"They're gone too," Shane said disheartenly.

Hannah let him go and turned to the others, it was hard for her to contain her excitement and they were raining on her parade. "Would you guys lighten up?" she asked, bouncing up and down. "He's gone! We did it!"

Dustin, forever the child of the group, laughed, grabbed Hannah around the waist and spun her around much to her enjoyment, and the others amusement. Only the colour twins could have fun in Lothor's final hours.

~*Lost Thunder Ninja*~

It had been a few months since Lothor's demise, and the US Action Games. Shane had won second place in the skating demo, and received the chance to get sponsored by Truth Trucks; he had turned down the position after recieving his graduation letter from the Wind Ninja academy, along with another letter to become the new Air sensei, he had accepted right away

Dustin had won third place in the freestyle demo and was more than thrilled to hear that he had a career ahead of him, and with Kelly has his coach, mentor and sponsor, the former yellow Ranger knew he'd go far. Unfortunately he, just like Shane had other commitments, ones that did not include flying around the countryside racing or skating.

Same went for Tori. She hadn't entered any competitions, mostly because the US Action sports didn't include surfing; otherwise everyone knew she'd take the first place. But she did have something to look forward too after graduation, just like her best friends, Tori had received a letter to become a Water sensei at the academy.

Blake had accepted the chance to go "flying around the countryside racing" by taking a leap of faith and accepting the offer provided to him by Factory Blue; he had been ecstatic to learn that they had wanted him after he had been a test rider for them, but had thought the fight against Lothor would take longer than expected; now it was over, he could move on with much bigger things

Unlike his brother, Hunter was at a loss on what to do. He had received his graduation letter, but had no plans on what to do after. He had thought about applying for a post at the Thunder academy, but wasn't sure if teaching was in the cards for him, although he did have some experience when it came to teaching people a thing or two about the way of the Thunder Ninja, who knew, maybe a teaching post could be for him.

Cam had decided to stay on at the Wind Ninja Academy. He'd already proposed an idea to his father, to open a different section that taught students the way of the Samurai rather than just that of the Ninja. He wanted people to appreciate the Samurai lifestyle like he and his mother had done. Sensei Watanabe had accepted the proposal without hesitation. He couldn't have been more proud of his son, or his students.

As for Hannah, she was ready to hit the road and return to Reefside. Steve had already rented the apartment that he, Hannah and Leanne would be staying in during the Olympics' that year, and the former amber Ranger was ready to go. She would be leaving as soon as her graduation ceremony was over, and she couldn't wait.

"Come on, come on!" Hannah said, tugging her two brothers towards the centre field where the others were waiting for them. The Wind and Thunder Ninjas that weren't graduating looked around as the three siblings grew closer.

"What's the rush, Hannah-Banana?" Tori asked, smiling.

Hannah stuck her tongue out at the older blonde, and swept her hair over her shoulder. "Bite me," she said.

"She's just excited," Blake said.

"We can see that," Dustin said. "But what about? Someone would think you can't wait for graduation to be over."

"I can't," Hannah said. "As soon as the ceremony is over, I'm out of here."

"What?" Shane asked. "Where are you going?"

"Reefside," Hannah replied. "The Olympics start next week. I gotta make sure I am ready. My routine needs a polish up, and I got to check out my new place before the games. You guys will be coming out to cheer me on, right?"

The group exchanged looks, and Hunter wrapped his arm around his sister. "Dude, this is somethin you've wanted since you were a little girl," he said, "and now you're finally getting the chance. We wouldn't miss that for the world."

Hannah grinned. "Now there's my Hunter," she said, hugging him and Blake.

"So, are you guys ready?" Shane asked, spotting Sensei step up onto the podium.

"Let's do it," the team said. They took their rightful places in line, and waited for Sensei to call their names.

Sensei unfurled a scroll, cleared his throat and started the ceremony.

"Shane Clarke."

Shane smiled and walked forward. He stopped in front of his Sensei, bowed, accepted his scroll and stepped away from the stage.

"Tori Hanson."

Tori smiled at her Sensei, bowed and accepted her scroll, before stepping back beside Shane.

"Dustin Brooks."

Dustin bowed a huge grin on his face, accepted his scroll and took his rightful place beside his best friends.

"Blake Bradley."

Blake bowed, accepted the scroll that would say he had earned the right to graduate from the Thunder Academy, and took his place beside Tori.

"Hunter Bradley."

Hunter bowed as he received his scroll, and then shared a bright smile with his sister as he took his place beside Blake.

"Hannah Bradley."

Hannah practically bounced her way up to the podium, accepted her scroll and skipped her way over to her brothers, squeezing herself into between them.

"And finally, Cam Watanabe."

Sensei smiled proudly as he presented his own son with the graduation scroll, and watched as he took his place beside his friends and team-mates.

"You have all earned the badge of honour that is to graduate from the Wind and Thunder Academies'," Sensei said. "I could not be more proud of you, of the sacrifices you have made for your school and indeed for your planet. The world is better place today because of you."

Amidst the roars of applause and cheers from their fellow Ninjas, the seven former Rangers laughed and embraced one another happily. Their lives has rangers had been astronomical and they had memories that would last forever; but now the time had come to hang up their helmets and move on to much brighter future.

The End.
