It was a new moon, with clouds covering what little heavenly light remains. A young being was dozing on a high swaying branch of a large tree. Unlike other children in the area, no human would notice or care. Only those that can slip their minds beyond the normal thinking and pass a strong spell would be able to notice the child.

Thankfully, one such individual is near by spreading good dreams. And since before the clouds came in, is planning on how to approach this one child.

The little gold man, usually known as the Sandman was radiating hope. A powerful spirit that is clever as he is kind. So, with a flourish, he makes one last touch up on his carefully made waking dream. Carefully crafted to mix well with other magics which will reveal what is hidden. With a probe and a look, the little dolphin dream swims away to find the boy of winter.

Now time to deal with a certain lingering shadow.

Jack Frost jerks awake, for a moment confused, he thought he was at the sea. But a few blinks later, the young spirit remembers that no, he is not at sea, but in a tree by his pond. Jack wonders why he is awake, but a flick of shadows and light gets his attention. Turning his head and carefully getting up into a crouch.

There are at least two shapes, although one of the shapes keep changing, much to Jack's confusion. The darker one seems upset. It took one last menacing look before melting to the very shadowed ground. With the action finished, Jack looked at the other figure. While the strange shadow was tall, lithe, and dark; this new wonder is short, round, and glowing clearly in the black night. It is a little sun in the dark night. Jack, who have always been curious, silently jump down, leaving no foot print in the snow.

Much to Jack's surprise, the living lamp moves and for the first time, Jack sees a face under all the glow. As soon as the strange creature saw Jack, it dims itself just enough to reveal a small round person who is smiling at Jack softly.

Jacks knows this man. He is very nice and makes Jack feel happy. He wonders if this is what the other children feel when he visits them.

"Sandman."

The little being floats over to the Jack and much to his surprise, grabbed Jack's hands and smiles even wider, looking very pleased.

Jack was jerks sharply in shock when a voice pops into his head, "My apologies for the touching, unless you wanted to interpret miming, this is one of the ways for me to talk."

Jack, mind in shock, blinks and said, "You're the first person to see me. To touch me too."

The golden man suddenly bashfully looks around, "I know, I noticed you, it not until someone else ask me why I am pointing to space, did I not know that I was the only one to see you. I am sorry that it took so long to formally meet you."

Jack continues to blink stupidly.

Sandman mentally chuckles, "Since I am here, I would like to introduce someone to you."

The winds howl in excitement as a dark figures swoops in with a flurry of cold.

Jack jumps when the unfamiliar figure lands on the ground with a swoosh.

The first thing he notice is that the figure is very tall. It-he oozes coldness and magic. The man, like him, is pale, have snow white hair, and blue eyes that hold a cruel glint. The next thing is that he is wearing an old uniform. The younger spirit blinks because he would have sworn that the coat was almost black a moment ago, now it more of a light gray. Jack opens his mouth and the first thing that comes out is, "Why are your coat changing colors?"

The man gives a twisted grin, he leaned very close, "I am one of the nature spirits, like you, Jack Frost. We have interesting abilities that makes us unique. I can change the colors of my coat. You will be able to do something as well," his accent placing him as not from being here.

Seeing the craze touched grin, Jack slyly backs away from the strange man.

Sandy sighs audibly and reminds them of his presence.

The man's nose flares, "I know, Uncle, Mother is waiting."

Both winter spirits stumble when the ground start to fade as it is covered by gold sand and they start to rise.

The Crazy One sneers even as he regains his balance, "You better survive."

Jack was about to start yelling at this point when the Sandman glares at The Crazy One as he drifts over to Jack. The Sandman rubs the young man on the back in an attempt at comfort.

The sand coalesces into a grand form of a boat.

The Crazy One rolls his eyes at the Sandman.

Jacks blinks when The Crazy One flies away using the wind just like Jack himself would.

The Sandman gives a fond if exasperated smile that went from the fading black dot to Jack himself.

This story will be marked complete once I get to chapter 30.

I now understand why writing can be difficult. Just making drabble series is difficult, it will be even harder when I will try to make a coherent story plot for another story.
