Tony once again screws up and says something that may actually ruin about the best thing for him but can he fix it in time? can it be fixed? know that these two have their moments on the show and think could happen
Tony and McGee were currently on protection detail with SecNav Porter somewhere in New York for the past few days and would be for another three. Porter was in a meeting at the moment when gunshots were heard and all of a sudden a man had snuck into the common area where Tony was that lead to the office. The SFA cursed when realized the man had gotten past his partner and took the man down with two shots to the chest. Soon NYPD officers rushed into the room and he secured the area he went to find his partner talking to someone in a dark suit but he waited until they were done before exploding, "Should have known better than to bring you along. You let that man through."
McGee rubbed back of his head where the other man slapped him in almost same spot that got knocked with butt of a gun, "What the hell?"
"That's for blowing your assignment and almost getting her killed. Should stick to staying behind the desk and leave this to real agents."
"You don't know what the hell happened and am fine," he hissed before walking off.
"Am sure that Gibbs will skin you alive for what happened."

Over the next few days it was slow and nothing really happened but McGee growing more pissed at Tony. Ziva was already at her desk working when she heard the elevator opened and could see her friends walking over but could tell something had happened between them. Gibbs was currently the temp director while she was out sick and he stopped at top of the balcony watching them enter and observed them but also noticed the tension.
McGee looked at his phone when rang, "Yeah Gibbs?"
"Director's office," said before hanging up.
Ziva watched him walk upstairs, "What did you do to him?"
"I didn't do anything only McScrewUp fault Porter almost got killed because he was lazy."
McGee had heard what he said as headed to office, "Morning boss."
"Want to explain what happened a few days ago?"
He rubbed back of his neck, "Tony pulled rank and stuck me guarding the outside door when a man came over pretending to ask for directions when knocked me over the head and stormed over to the other door where guess Tony killed him."
"I read that in your report but did something else happen?"
"Nothing boss just tired from dealing with Tony for the last week."
Abby turned around when doors to her lab opened, "Timmy," she hugged him. "So glad your home."
He kissed her, "So am I."

A few hours had passed and McGee headed for the gym where turned out Ziva had the same idea and he let her spar with him. Ziva had been working with him in hand-to-hand for sometime and he was getting better all of the time. She could tell something was bothering him, "What happened?"
He didn't stop but answered, "Nothing more than Tony running his mouth."
"Want me to handle him or talk to him?"
"No just something that need to do on my own but thanks."
She shook her head, "He maybe my fiancé but doesn't mean wont put him in place if hurts you."
He knew she would do just that, "Thanks for the offer but think can handle him."
Tony looked up when Gibbs stopped in front of his desk, "What happened out there?"
"Nothing that didn't write in the report boss," he told him.
Gibbs glared at him as to say my office and once in the elevator he flipped the switch slapping back of his head.
"And what you said after what happened is nothing?"
"Of course McGee would tell you that."
"McGee wouldn't do that o you because a good partner sticks up for each other but you didn't read his report did you?"
He huffed, "Why should I? Already know he slacked off and let the wannabe-assasin through."
"DiNozzo one of these days," is all he said before turning it back on and left him in there.

A few hours later, Ziva had found the file on what happened and was furious but when lunchtime arrived with no case she dragged Tony to Gibbs favorite diner. Elaine brought over some coffee and took their order before leaving them alone. "What's wrong Zee-vah?"
She glared at him as waiting for him to say something, "Other than Tim and you shooting daggers at each other all morning, so what did you do?"
"Why does everyone think something happened? All that happened was McScrewUp let someone through."
"Than the nasty headache he has been sporting all day and knot in back of the head is nothing?"
"Nothing is wrong with him so drop it."
"Tim and you have been partners for years and seen you two have puffs-"
He snickered, "Moments."
"I have seen you two mad at each other before but nothing like this where looks like want to kill you."
He sighed when the food came, "We can handle this on our own."
"If you don't sure can do it for you. You two are almost like brothers and need each other."

A few days had passed and once more Gibbs was back in the bullpen and noticed that the two men on the team weren't talking. Both Ziva and Abby came to him expressing they thought something was going on between the two of them. He had spoken to Porter and few others that had been there at the time and found out a few things that neither said to him and then knew what was bothering the younger of the feuding pair.
Gibbs called them all to conference room, "What's up boss?" McGee asked.
"The two of you are in here until resolve this," he told them.
"There's nothing to fix boss," Tony told him.
Gibbs slapped back of his head, "You may not see it that way but I don't. So fix this or one of you are gone."
They watched him leave the room, "What the hell did you say?"
"I didn't say a thing about your blatant disregard for what happened out there."
He went to slap his head but was stopped, "I am not the one that-"
"You didn't even think that was a reason he may have gotten through other than me slacking off? Maybe he had-"
Tony finally looked the man over and could see the knot when wasn't facing him, "Didn't think...after all you never said anything."
He turned to face him, "That's right you didn't think to ask or care again."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"How about a month ago chasing a suspect with Dornaget and didn't seem to care that was hurt or what said."
Tony stood thinking a few minutes, "McGee, have no idea what you mean."
With that the younger man stormed out of the room and Ziva returned, "If you don't mend this, will kill your bromance."
"There's nothing to fix."
"Apparently you need to figure this out or will lose him."

Or the last few hours McGee stuck to helping Abby in the lab with some of her machines and she wasn't complaining at all, "You two okay?"
He shook his head, "Not sure ever will be."
"What happened this time? Never seen you two like this."
He told her what happened, "And Tony is once again clueless."
She pulled him into a hug, "Timmy am so sorry."
Tony had come down to take Abby to lunch when heard what he said but walked to the elevator and turned it off. After hearing what the other man had said made him think about that day and realised that once again he didn't wait for answers and jumped to conclusion. Ziva was right that the man was his best friend and honorary little brother. He needed to fix their thing before something dramatic happened and lost about the only person to be there for him.
Abby turned when doors to her lab opened, "What you want?"
"Abs can we have a minute?" she left them to take samples to Ducky. "Should have seen it."
McGee folded his arms and glared at him, "Once again you have no idea."
"Ziva was right that just mad over what happened and didn't think to see your side of things."
"And that's different how?"
"Not sure why would doubt your ability to do anything," he sighed. "You're the only one other than Abby that has been there."
"And yet you still have doubts? I always have your six even when think totally wrong."
They both laughed, "Ziva once again is right."
"About what this time?"
"That were almost like brothers and need one another."
Abby was standing in doorway smiling, "You two fight like them for sure."
Gibbs and Ziva looked up when they walked back, "You two good?" Ziva asked.
Both nodded and sat down, "Yeah, were good."
"Good didn't want to fire you," Gibbs said. "Get back to work."
"Yes boss," all three of them said at once.
