Dance In The Rain
Chapter 29: Just Friends.. for now?
It's been two days since the Downtown Dance and nothing really has changed. I haven't been out for 2 days so when Aunt June asked for someone to go and buy some milk, I didn't hesitate to grab the money and walk to the store.
I haven't really been hanging out with the others lately, Trish has been working and Austin and Dez have been hanging out so I've just been at home watching soap operas with Aunt June but today had to be different.
I was waiting for the sign to say cross when someone tapped me on the shoulder, I turned to see Elliot. I jumped a little but slowly smiled, "Hey Elliot, how have you been?" I asked.
He grinned at me, "I've been good. I missed you." He admitted, I pursed my lips. "About the dance.." I started and he quickly interrupted me. "No let me apologize, I shouldn't of tried to kiss you." He said. "It's just, I can't see you in any other way than just a friend." I admitted, he looked a little hurt but I just had to be honest, I just had to.
"It's fine Ally," he smiled again, "I really didn't want to hurt you Elliot, but I did try. I did have fun too." I said, he just nodded his head. "Can I be honest?" he asked, I nodded my head. "Well I don't think I'll ever stop liking.. unless you like someone else." He admitted, I pursed my lips then looked down. "Or until you like me." He grinned, I started to laugh.
"You're very persistent, it almost makes me feel guilty." I said, he shrugged. "It's who I am." He said. "Well, I'm going to get some milk. Where are you going?" I asked, feeling a little stupid for saying I was getting milk.
He chuckled, "I was going to get some groceries too, so I'll just join you." He said, I grinned at him. "Thank you!" I said, and we crossed the street.
Austin's P.O.V.
Me and Dez were driving home when suddenly, "Look it's Ally and Elliot. So they're finally together huh?" he asked, I felt my stomach drop for a moment when I saw them laughing and walking.
"Where is she going with him?" I asked, Dez continued to drive home not even caring about them anymore. "What does it matter. They probably want some couple time together." He said, I frowned a little. "Dez they're not dating." I said.
"And how would you know that?" Dez asked, I sighed. "Ally admitted to me the day of the dance that she doesn't feel that way towards Elliot." I stated, Dez slowly nodded his head.
"Okay so when are you going to tell her how you feel then?" he asked, I sighed. "Dez I don't have any feelings for her." I denied, "C'mon bro I've known you for how long. I would know when you have feelings for a girl. You know you talk about Ally a lot and whenever you see her you get really happy."
I just looked at him, I didn't even notice that he already parked the car. Was it that obvious? I guess I wasn't good at hiding my feelings. But if it was so obvious how come Ally couldn't see it.
"Austin, she'll never know until you tell her." Dez finally said and then he was gone. He left me in the car to ponder my thoughts.
I got home to find Austin asleep on the couch, he had a slight smile on his face. I wonder what he was dreaming about, maybe dreaming about performing on stage while everyone cheers for him.
I spotted his guitar which was on the coffee table, I quietly picked it up to move it off of the table before Aunt June would yell at him.
Although as soon as it was in my hands, I decided I would try to play it. I quickly put the milk away in the fridge and went outside to the backyard and attempted to play the guitar.
After 15 minutes of trying to play the guitar, I was about to put it down when suddenly there were arms around me. I looked up to see Austin smiling at me.
"Oh my gosh, how long have you been watching and listening." I said, looking down in embarrassment. He was laughing now, "I think just 5 minutes but you're not that bad." He admitted. "Don't lie to me." I said, he smiled and then he grabbed my hands to put them where they needed to be.
"Here, I'll teach you how to play the guitar." He said as he navigated my fingers to which string needed to be pressed down, it kind of hurt a little.
Ally was so cute, the way she attempted to play my guitar. When I heard her playing it outside I just had to watch out for her, especially since the last time she had touched it she snapped a string and hurt herself.
She plucked at strings at time, trying to make up a tune but it wasn't very good. "Man, I wish I had learned how to play chords." She mumbled to herself, and she was about to give up so I decided I would come to her rescue.
I put my arms around her and grabbed her arms, she jumped a little and asked how long I had been there. Next thing I knew, I was helping her learn a chord. I taught her how to play the G chord and she bit her lip. "Is it supposed to hurt?" she asked, I nodded my head.
"Just a little, but you'll eventually get used to it and it'll look like this." I said, showing her my fingers. Her eyes widened and then her fingers touched my fingers and next thing I knew we were holding hands and our fingers were entwined.
She gasped a little, and we both looked at each other. We were gazing into each other's eyes, she had such pretty eyes and her lips. "Th-thank you for teaching me a chord." She broke the silence and our eye contact, she looked down at the guitar.
"You're welcome Ally, don't worry soon enough you'll be better than me." I said, she laughed out loud and my heart jumped at the sound of her laughter. "I don't know about that, but I will practice." She said.
"So Austin have you talked to Cassidy?" she asked, I shook my head. "I don't think I need to." I admitted, turns out after the downtown dance her and Tanner ended up getting back together. "That fast?" she said, she sounded so surprised. I just nodded my head.
"What a shame." She said, shaking her head. She was so cute. I smiled at her, "It's okay Ally. Just shows I made the right decision." He grinned. She suddenly pulled away from me to put down my guitar gently.
She hugged me, it was almost as long as the ones she used to give me. "Don't worry Austin, you will find that girl. Don't give up." She said, "I won't." I chuckled, and at that moment just looking at her with so much determination for my happiness.
I just knew. It was Ally. I love Ally, and I wasn't going to hold myself back because of it anymore. Ally was the one for me, she may think that I don't like her that way but you know what I would show her.
"Who knows, I may have found that girl already." I stated with a huge grin, she smiled a little. If only she had known, if only she knew that I was talking about her.
Hey! I don't think people really read my story anymore since I've been missing in action and I am truly sorry for that. I plan on actually finishing this story and making a sequel to it because I miss writing about Auslly. Again, I do not own the characters only the plot.
