Chapter 29 – Meeting Amun

Carlisle:

"We're finally here at the hotel. Thank goodness—air conditioning here I come. Dad, I need sustenance, food, meat and more meat," Jake said carrying on.

"We'll just order room service for now," I said to them.

We made our way into the hotel. They had valet parking so our bags were taken out of the van and the van was parked for us. We all trudged into the hotel and made our way to the reception desk to check in. The clerk behind the desk was smiling at us.

"Is he smiling at us?" Jasper asked.

"I think so," Edward replied.

"Hello! Are you by chance Dr. Cullen and family," the clerk asked.

"Yes, I am Dr. Carlisle Cullen and this is my wife and family," I said proudly.

"As if he couldn't figure out Dad's a doctor by the bag he's carrying," Jake said as the others laughed.

"Children, behave," Esme said to them.

"We have you all set up, Dr. Cullen. You have the Penthouse Suite courtesy of Mr. Amun," the clerk stated.

"The Penthouse Suite! Holy Cow, come on, what are we waiting for," Emmett said rushing to the elevator.

"What's your hurry?" Rosalie asked.

"I've never been in a Penthouse before and I want to see it! Is it big?" Emmett asked the clerk.

"Oh yes, it's very big and very expensive. He graciously allows us to use his artifacts and treasures to decorate our hotel. You must be very special to Mr. Amun," the clerk said.

"My brother Edward is really fond of him," Emmett laughed.

"Edward, yes, Mr. Amun left a note for you. Here you go," the clerk said.

"What does the note say," I asked Edward.

"Edward, there is a fountain in the Penthouse. Don't dive in…Amun," Edward said sneering. "I hate that guy."

"Edward, that's not nice," I said to him. The others were laughing at him.

The elevator took us up to the Penthouse. The doors opened and I slipped the card key into the slot. When the door opened, we all gasped at the beautiful Penthouse that gleamed before us. It took us a while to take it all in.

"Well come on, let's go in," Emmett said shoving us all out and making his way in.

"It's huge," Esme said.

"It's beautiful," Rosalie said.

"It's free and it's air conditioned," Jake added.

"Where's the menu. I'm starved," Seth said going through the brochures on the table that had information on it.

"Hurry up, where's the room service menu. I'm about to take a bite out of this table," Jake said grabbing the menu.

"What can we have Dad," Leah asked.

"Anything, help yourselves," I said to them.

"I'm getting a big T-bone steak," Jake said.

"I want one too," Billy said then looked cautiously at me.

"Billy, we are on vacation and you have done very well with your diet these past few months. Go ahead and splurge on yourself," I said to him.

"Hand that menu over," Billy said yanking it out of Jake's hand.

"Hey, my hand was attached to that. I think he's getting vampire strength," Jake teased.

Later After dinner:

Carlisle:

"All right, now that everyone's finished eating that can eat, we are going see Amun and Kebi. It's almost dusk so we vampires don't have to worry about the sun shining on us. Let's get moving, I don't want to keep Amun waiting," I said to my brood.

"Oh I'm so anxious to see what they have for me to look over. They always find the most interesting, beautiful things," Esme said excitedly.

"Yeah, I want to see this Almond guy and see this pool Eddie boy dove into," Jake said smiling.

"Me too. I hope you can still see the crack from Eddie's head," Emmett laughed along with Jake, Jasper and Seth and Nathan.

"I had to repair that crack, thanks to your brother," I said to them indicating Edward.

"I want to see this place too with a reflecting pool in the floor," Bella said.

"Me too, how elegant that must be," Rosalie said.

"Hey Witch Hazel, don't look too long into the reflecting pool, you'll make the water boil," Jake teased Rosalie.

"Shut up you shaggy bison," Rosalie said to Jake.

"Why'd you call her Witch Hazel," Nathan asked Jake.

"It's a plant that is used for medicinal purposes," I explained to Nathan. "Jacob, stop insulting Rosalie. Rosalie, the same goes for you."

"Dad, he started it," Rosalie said.

"All of you, I want you all on your best behavior at Amun's. Don't touch anything or break anything. He has many artifacts that are very valuable and I don't want any trouble from any of you," I warned them.

"Carlisle, I'd like to stay here at the hotel and rest. It's been a long day and I'm tired," Billy said.

"That's fine Billy. You stay and get some rest," I said to him.

"How come he gets to stay? I want to stay here too," Edward said.

"No, you are coming and showing Amun how you have matured and now have a mate," I said to him.

"Yeah Eddie, you'll have a swimmingly good time," Emmett teased.

"Stop calling me Eddie," Edward said to him.

"Sorry Eddie," Emmett said.

"Enough, you are all coming except Billy. Edward you will be on your best behavior and manners," I said to him again.

"Oh sure Dad, want me to wear a tux?" Edward asked smartly.

"Edward Cullen! I've just about had enough of your attitude and you better lose it before I come and adjust it for you," I warned him.

"Ha ha, Eddie's gonna get it! Eddie's gonna get it!" Emmett teased.

"Emmett! You're pushing it also," I now extended the warning to him too.

We then made our way down the elevator and to the garage and piled in the van. As we exited the hotel, Jake again complained.

"Man it's hot! It's already after 5 p.m. in the evening and it's as hot as when we arrived. This place is like a desert," Jake exclaimed.

"It is a desert you camel," Rosalie said smartly.

"Kiss my lump then," Jake called back.

"Stop it you two. Your father warned you about acting up and I don't want any problems with this visit. They were gracious enough to invite me to peruse their findings and I will not stand for my children to ruin this for me," Esme scolded. After that they settled down…for now…

Amun & Kebi's:

We arrived at Amun's and I parked the van. Before everyone got out, I wanted to make sure everyone knew to be careful and respectful at Amun's home.

"Before we get out, I want to remind you again that you are all to be on your best behavior and keep your hands off all things and be respectful to Amun and Kebi. No goofing off and clowning around," I warned them.

"Gee Pops, you're like a broken record," Emmett said.

"Mind your father, all of you," Esme said forcefully.

"Yes Mom," all of them said.

We made our way out of the van and walked up to the door. I knew they could hear us and they already know we are here. I knocked on the door out of politeness.

"Well, Carlisle, how wonderful to see you again," Amun said and graciously shook my hand.

"Hello Amun. Thank you for having us," I said.

"Ah Esme, as lovely as ever," Amun said and ushered us in.

"Hello Carlisle, Esme," Kebi said coming up.

"Hello Kebi, I'm so excited to see what you have for me," Esme said hugging Kebi.

"I see you brought the entire family. It has grown, considerably. Are these the wolves," Amun asked looking at my wolf children.

"Yes, let me introduce Jacob, Leah, Seth and Nathan my nephew," I said as I walked up to each and put my hands on their shoulders from behind.

"I see, they certainly have a smell," Amun said.

"You don't smell so good to us either, Ahem," Jake said to him.

"Something wrong with your throat," Amun asked.

"No, why do you ask, Ahem," Jake said again.

"Jacob, stop it," I said.

"Stop what?" Jake asked me.

"The child…or…wolf…or…he is mocking me," Amun said.

"No I'm not Ahem, why do you say that," Jake said again.

"Jacob, his name is Amun not Ahem," I said to him.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Jake said grinning.

"Are you?" Amun asked.

"Yeah, Dad will smack me if I act up," Jake informed him. Edward and Emmett were smirking.

"Jacob Cullen, mind your manners," Esme said.

"Hey, is that the pool Eddie took a header in," Emmett asked laughing.

"Yes, that is it. I trust you remember it is rather shallow Edward and you won't make the same mistake," Amun said to Edward. Edward's face showed his annoyance.

"No, I won't dive in to your reflecting pool this time. I never heard of a reflecting pool back then," Edward said low and with more annoyance.

"Edward," I said snapping him out of it.

We were talking with Amun and Kebi and I could hear and see my children behind me goading and snickering at Edward and teasing him softly.

"Hey, that water moved in that reflecting pool," Seth said to Jake and the others.

"You're seeing things," Jake said to Seth.

"I just saw it move too," Nathan said. "It twirled in circles just in that one spot," Nathan said again.

"It must be the heat making you two numbskulls see things," Jake said grinning.

"I'm telling you I saw that water move," Seth said again.

The Wolf boys turned away from the water and were talking amongst themselves with the others when Seth again wanted their attention.

"Hey, look," Seth said nudging Jake. This time Jake saw it.

"He's right, it's a little water tornado," Jake said.

"What are you guys talking about?" Jasper asked.

"That water made a little tornado and then stopped spinning when you turned around," Seth said.

"What? Water can't turn into a tornado," Jasper said.

"Yes it can, it's called a water spout but that happens usually in a storm over a large body of water," Bella said.

"Well excuuuuuse meeee, Miss Meteorologist," Jake said to her.

"Shut up, you're seeing things. Must be the heat," Bella said nudging him.

"I'm telling you that water is moving," Seth said again.

As he said that, a small stream of it crept out of the reflecting pool and flicked water at the side of my face. I quickly turned to face my startled children. I gave them a dirty look and brushed the water from my face.

"You had to see that," Seth said to his siblings.

"Yeah, what the heck," Emmett said.

"It made a stream and came out and flicked Dad," Rosalie said.

"Look, it's doing it again, this time a bigger stream," Alice said.

The stream of water made its way over to me and came up and splashed against my face without Amun and Kebi seeing. Esme didn't see it either since she was so engrossed with what they were telling her about the artifacts. I turned to glare again at my children who again looked startled and some had their mouths open.

"Stop it," I said softly.

"We didn't do it," Jake said softly.

"Edward, if you think this is funny, I'll give you something to make you really laugh," I warned him giving him a stern look.

"Dad! It wasn't me. It was the pool," Edward said.

Having enough I walked over to him. I was not very amused as my shirt was getting wet.

"What do you mean it was the pool? What are you doing back here," I demanded of him.

"Nothing! The water came out in a stream and flicked at you. We all saw it," Edward said.

"Stop this nonsense, you know it didn't do that. Now stop it, all of you," I warned and turned and walked away.

As I began walking away, it felt like a hand slapped the back of my head but then dissolved into water and splashed down my back soaking my shirt.

"All right! Which one of you did that and you better not say it was the water," I demanded as Amun, Kebi and Esme heard my dismay and turned to look.

"Dad, it wasn't us," Edward said.

"It wasn't Daddy, we all saw it happen," Alice explained.

"That's ridiculous! Who else would it be," I said to them.

"Hey, my wolf nose is sensing someone else is here," Seth said.

"Yeah, me too. A vampire," Jake said.

Bella, Edward, Jasper and Emmett began looking across the pool and began growling low. I noticed the scent of a vampire also. As we were looking across the reflecting pool, the water started churning and all of a sudden it all went to the end of the pool and then splashed up like a huge wave and came crashing down on the opposite side of the pool, but none of the water came out of the pool.

"AAHHH! A Tsunami!" Emmett yelled and ran to the door.

"I told you that water moved," Seth yelled running also to the door.

"Wait, it's me doing it," a voice said from the other side of the room. Out stepped a younger vampire male and what looked to be his younger mate.

"Who are you?" I asked seeing them for the first time.

"I am Benjamin, Amun and Kebi's son. This is my mate, Tia. He keeps me hidden from people," Benjamin said.

"I can see why," I said smiling at him.

"Benjamin, I told you to stay away. We don't know if we can trust these wolves," Amun said.

"Hey, we resent that, Mooney," Jake said glaring at Amun.

"Jacob," I cautioned.

"I wanted to see the wolf creatures. They intrigue me," Benjamin said.

"Not as much as you intrigue us. How'd you do that with the water, Benjie," Jake asked.

"It is my gift. I can manipulate the elements, earth, fire, water, and air," Benjamin explained.

"Cool," Emmett said. Do something else."

"Alright, watch," Benjamin said as he manipulated the water and made it into a water snake and made is move as if it was slithering on the ground.

"Holy cow! I wish I had taken a picture of that," Nathan said as the water now calmed down.

"Benjamin, that's enough. Go back to your room. You too, Tia," Amun said.

"No, I want to talk to them. I want to see how they transform into wolves," Benjamin said.

"Well, now you're talking…just ask us…anything at all," Jake said beaming.

"Do you have to do something to change?" Benji asked.

"No, it just happens. Sometimes we can't control it if we get angry," Nathan said.

"We can make it happen," Jake explained.

"Does it hurt to transform," Benjamin asked.

"No, not at all," Leah said.

"You are a wolf also? You're so lovely," Benjamin said to Leah. Leah was blushing.

"Would you like me to wolf out for you? You haven't seen me in full fur," Jake offered.

"Please, I would love it," Benjamin said.

"Now wait a minute here," Amun cautioned.

"Don't worry Almond, I'll be careful. I have to go in another room and change so I don't ruin my clothes," Jake said.

"Almond?" Amun said perplexed.

"Don't mind him, Amun," Esme said to him.

"Here, go in here," Benjamin offered opening a door to a room off the side.

"Wolf Bro, don't go chasing any pink riding hoods," Emmett laughed at his own so-called joke.

"What's he mean," Benji asked Jake.

"Oh don't mind Emmett, just remember he thought a tsunami could happen in a house. Pink, what a dope," Jake said as he went to the room to phase into a wolf.

"What?" Emmett asked perplexed.

"It's Red Riding Hood, not pink…oh never mind," Jake said walking into the room.

After a few minutes, Jacob emerged in full wolf form. He came out and strutted over to Benjamin who was awestruck at Jake's transformation. He touched him stood next to him.

"Tia, look how big he is. He's magnificent," Benjamin said. Jacob beamed in wolf form.

"He's not that great," Rosalie said. "Don't go making him more conceited than he already is."

Jake looked toward Rosalie and growled at her. His lips flared back and he bared his teeth and gave a loud growl to Rosalie. She ignored him and turned and flipped her hair at him. Jake sauntered over behind her and nudged her and she stumbled forward.

"Stop it, you big baboon," Rosalie said shoving Jake now.

"That's enough," I cautioned them. They both stopped and glared at each other.

"Ha ha ha, this is so fun. You must come more often," Benjamin said laughing. Tia also giggled. Amun wasn't so amused.

"Doesn't his foul smell turn you off? It's worse in wolf form," Amun said looking disgusted.

Jake looked over at Amun and gave a small snort. He then got up behind Rosalie again and started biting her hair with his muzzle.

"Hey! Stop chewing my hair you mule!" Rosalie said slapping at Jake.

Jake jumped back and Rosalie missed him. He came up to her again and sniffed her neck and licked it. Rosalie had a fit.

"EWWWWWW! Stop it you idiot," Rosalie said and shoved him forward.

Jake slid on the tile floor and tried to stop himself and slid around and knocked Rosalie and Edward along with himself into the reflecting pool. Edward went flying and fell almost in the exact spot he did all those years ago. Rosalie landed on top of Edward and Jake plopped into the pool right on top of Rosalie.

"Ahhh! Look what you've done. I'm all wet," Rosalie said and flipped Jake over and he fell on his side and was thoroughly soaked. He got up and was about to shake himself. "NO! Don't you dare!" Rosalie shouted at him.

As if that would stop Jake. He stood up and shook himself all over and sprayed water everywhere. The spray of water from his massive wolf form was like a hose squirting all of us. We were all wet.

"Here Wolf Bro, here's something to wipe off with," Emmett yelled as he grabbed a piece of material off the wall.

"NO! That's a 400-year-old tapestry. Don't touch it," Amun shouted.

"Oh good, then it's not new," Emmett said wrapping it around Jake.

"You're ruining it," Amun shouted angrily at Emmett.

"It's only water, settle down Almond," Emmett said trying to placate him.

"Thanks for thinking of me, Emmett!" Rosalie said sarcastically to him.

"Babe, the wolf is drenched," Emmett said.

"Thanks Em, don't mind us," Edward said.

"Dude, did you crack your head?" Emmett asked Edward.

"No, but my head cracked the pool again," Edward said sheepishly.

"Ha ha ha, this is the most fun and excitement we've ever had," Benjamin said laughing.

"Fun! They're ruining our house. Again with the pool! And of course, that son of yours cracked my reflecting pool again. That mangy mutt drenched my house and that dimwit ruined my tapestry," Amun shouted at me.

"Hey, don't call my Emmy or my brothers names," Rosalie said to Amun.

"Yeah, they didn't mean it," Bella added.

"Now Amun, calm down," I said trying to soothe him.

"Calm down! How can I calm down. You're paying for this Carlisle," Amun demanded.

"Amun, Kebi, I'm so sorry," Esme said to them.

"Jacob, go phase back to human form, dry off, get dressed and come back out," I told Jake. He growled a little but began sulking off to the room to change.

"Wait, give me my tapestry," Amun said and walked over and yanked it off of Jake. Jake gave him a glare and growled softly and went off to the room.

"I'm so sorry Amun, but my children didn't do this on purpose," I said.

"They are unruly and destructive. I don't want them to break anything else. Figures Edward would crack my pool again," Amun grumbled.

"So we can fix the pool. The tapestry has hung there all these years, a little water won't hurt it. We finally have some excitement here. I'm enjoying their visit, I want them to stay here," Benjamin said to Amun.

"Here! Absolutely NOT! I arranged for their accommodations at the hotel," Amun said.

"Amun, we wouldn't think of intruding on you. The accommodations are perfect and very exquisite. What other things would you like to show me," Esme said getting their minds off the happenings.

"Yes Amun, let's show Esme the other artifacts we found," Kebi said as she led Esme and Amun in the other room.

"Don't mind him, he's always on edge and gruff, but he enjoys your company. He just doesn't know how to show it," Benjamin said to me.

"Could've fooled me. He seems to hate us just like last time," Edward said.

"That was hilarious the last time. I laughed for days afterwards," Benjamin said.

"You mean you were here the last time we were here? Why didn't Amun introduce you and Tia," I asked.

"He doesn't want many people to know about me. He is afraid word about me would reach the Volturi and then they would try to take me. I'm tired of being cooped up. I want to see people and talk with them. I'm so excited to see you and talk to you this time," Benjamin said.

"You're okay Benji," Jake said coming out and slapping Benjamin on the back.

"That was amazing, Jacob. I'd like to see it happen sometime," he said to Jake.

"Sure, just name the time and place and I'll wolf out for you," Jake said.

"We all will if you want us to," Seth offered.

"Edward, Rosalie, Emmett and Jacob, you owe Amun and Kebi an apology. Your mother has anxiously waited to look at the artifacts they have and you are ruining it for her. You four straighten out and act like you have some manners and sense and behave yourselves or you will be in worse trouble than you are right now," I scolded them.

"Go dry off and get back here," I said to them.

"I'll get you some towels, come with me," Tia said leading them off to a side room.

"I knew I'd get in trouble if we came here. I'm never come back," Edward griped.

"Edward, that is very rude. You mind your manners, Young Man," I scolded him.

"Ugh!" Edward grumbled.

It wasn't long and Esme, Amun and Kebi came out. Esme was ecstatic at the finds they had for her to choose from. She selected several pieces and was as excited as a schoolgirl.

"Oh these are just amazing. I love them," Esme exclaimed.

"Thank you Amun, you and Kebi made my wife very happy. We will come by tomorrow and pick these up. It has been a very long travel day and we've made enough of an impression on you so far. Please accept my apologies. I will gladly pay to have your tapestry cleaned," I offered.

"Oh no Carlisle, that won't be necessary," Kebi said.

"Now just wait my love, if Carlisle feels better by doing this, I believe we should let him," Amun said.

"Of course, I wouldn't have it any other way," I said grimacing to myself.

"Hey Amen, does it ever cool off around here? It feels like a blast furnace around here," Jake said sweating.

"Amen?" Amun said.

"Not as hot as the blast furnace I'm going to light on your rear end when I get you back to the hotel," I said under my breath to Jake. He suddenly got very sullen.

"Gulp!" Jake said now looking worried along with Edward.

"We'll see you tomorrow then. Please bring everyone. I will be most anxious to see you all again," Benjamin said pleasantly.

"I look forward to it too," Tia added.

"Until tomorrow," Kebi said walking us to the door. Amun stood back with a perplexed look on his face.

"Say goodnight children," I said to my brood.

"Goodnight, don't let the scarabs bite," Alice said giggling.

"Yeah, see ya," Bella said. Edward just looked annoyed.

"So long Amen," Jake called back.

The others just said goodnight. We then walked out the door into the night.

"Gee, it's even hotter now! What kind of joint is this," Jake said loudly.

"JACOB! Get in the van!"

To Be Continued…

Please be kind and review so Jake can cool off!
