AN: Hi everybody, here's an update to TIAM2. My life is still crazy at the moment, things need to be arranged and everything. It's a mess, really. But while I can't update as much as I want for part 2, I'll keep updating the repost of the prequel.

So, have fun with this one, yeah? And thank you for staying tuned!

She couldn't take her eyes off of the woman sitting across from her at the breakfast bar, and truth be told, Callie didn't even want to look away, because looking at the blonde gave her the feeling of being home. Arizona had kept her word and had dressed up, much to the Latina's appreciation. The deep blue shirt with the neckline showed just enough cleavage to get a hint of what was beneath it and when her lover leaned forward, Callie could even get a glimpse of the pink lacy bra. But what had the brunette squirming on her stool was the knowledge of what was beneath. She could feel the weight in her hands, the softness of the skin without having to touch Arizona's breasts. She could close her eyes and lick her lips, imagining the taste of the pale skin on her tongue and was just so close to reality.

Swallowing down the saliva that had collected in her mouth while staring at her wife, Callie tried to clear her head and get rid of the formed image. She had dolled up as well, but the blonde appeared oblivious to the fact that Callie didn't even wear a bra. "What's bothering you?", she asked while using her fork to pick up some of the salad.

"Holly", Arizona answered honestly and let out a breath she had been holding for at least thirty seconds. Looking up, blue eyes met brown and the soft smile on her wife's face seemed to tug at the corners of her own lips. "I am sorry, Calliope. I know I promised this would be our night to celebrate that you might be pregnant this very second, but I just can't stop thinking about the girl."

"Why don't you tell me exactly what happened today?" the Latina suggested and reached over the table to squeeze her lover's hand. "I'll just sit here, look at you and eat in silence." She knew that letting it all out was the best way to cope with the bad things they saw at work and she was so glad to have Arizona by her side when she needed someone to talk to. The first time a patient died on the OR table, she had sought the blonde and cried on her shoulder for a good ten minutes. But also, when Dr. Shimmer had let her operate with him just standing in the back, she had run to her wife to share the rush that had been running through her body. In good times and in bad times, they were there for each other.

"It was a mess", the blonde exhaled, her eyes wandering down and focusing on the vegetables on her plate. "We still have no idea what happened to her, but it must be something cruel, torturous, something that frightened her so much, she wouldn't let anybody touch her. She's a child, for Christ's sake!" The sudden outburst and fist hitting the table were usually not a part of Arizona's behavior. She was a happy person, a perky young woman who rarely let anger get to her. "I didn't mean to-"

"It's okay", Callie assured her, stroking the back of her lover's hand with her thumb. "Do you want to go on?"

Nodding, Arizona's hold on the brunette's hand tightened and she continued, "I talked to her to calm her down, but even when she allowed Dr. Kenley to examine her wounds, she was so tense, fearing that he would do something to her. She was scared that I would let him take her away or that whoever did this to her would find her again." She felt tears pooling in her eyes and blinked a few time to make them go away. "Calliope, the scans showed that he broke her eye socket at least four different times. She is eight years old and she had to live through such a horrible thing."

Studying the blonde's face, Callie noticed the watery blue eyes but didn't say anything about it, knowing that Arizona wanted and needed to stay strong. "How did her parents react?", she asked instead.

Shaking her head, the blonde closed her eyes. "They are out of town. They are informed that their daughter is found and I think the chief said that the mother started to cry instantly and the father promised to get back to Seattle as soon as they could. But they are on the Bahamas to get away from it all, or something and they'll take the first flight available."

Arizona didn't need to say another word, Callie knew instantly what was hogging her wife's mind. "Go", she simply said and stood up to get the blonde's coat and scarf.

"I can't do that to you. This is our evening. You got inseminated today and you might be carrying our little baby already. What kind of a wife would I be if I just leave you to yourself tonight?", Arizona protested and watched the Latina as she put the coat and scarf over the back of the couch and placed her boots right next to the bar stool. "Or are you trying to kick me out?"

Putting her hands on her lover's arms, Callie looked straight into pools of sky-blue eyes. "You are the most amazing, loving and caring wife anyone could ever desire. But, you are also a surgeon and a mommy-to-be. If that would be our girl and we would be miles away, I would wish for someone like you to keep our girl company so she wouldn't feel alone."

"But I-"

Stopping Arizona's attempt to say something with a finger pressed against the set of soft pink lips, Callie objected, "No buts. Would you just get up and leave because of nothing, I would most likely be pissed, but this is something serious and important. So now, go, before I change my mind."

Hopping from the stool, Arizona hugged her wife tightly and kissed her forcefully. "You're the best! I love you", she said while slipping into her boots and coat. She stopped after putting on her scarf and pulled the Latina in for another kiss and then grabbed her keys, saying, "I'll make it up to you."

"You already did by loving me", Callie answered with a goofy smile on her face as she watched her wife exiting their apartment. She wasn't mad, frankly, she might have been had Arizona not been honest with her and had ruined their evening with being grumpy, but she was okay with this. It was only postponed, not canceled. They could always celebrate once they knew for sure that she was pregnant.

But now she had the rest of the evening to herself and after putting the leftovers in Tupperware boxes and the dishes away, she had no idea how to keep her mind busy so it wouldn't drift off to the pregnancy tests in the bathroom. Taking a test now would be too soon and the doctor in her knew that very well, but the excited, (and maybe) expecting woman inside her couldn't wait. Deciding that she would try and call her best friend in Florida, Callie prayed that Teddy would not be stuck in a surgery or at work in general.

"Altmann?", Teddy answered the phone, obviously not checking the caller ID.

"Hello, this is Callie Torres speaking, do you maybe know where my best friend has been for the past two to three weeks, because according to the lack of text messages and calls I am kinda worried about her", Callie joked and joined the laughter of her best friend. "Okay, kidding aside, where have you been?"

"Physically or mentally?", the blonde asked and sighed as she let herself fall into the soft cushions of her couch. She knew she had been a bad best friend, had not called nor texted Callie back, but she had to figure something out without the two cents of any other person.

Not knowing what the blonde was talking about, the Latina poured herself a glass of water for the second time this evening, she would just offer to listen. "Why don't you just start at the beginning or with what you're more comfortable with." In some parts, Teddy and her wife were alike, especially when something was heavy on their chests, so the brunette knew that letting the skinny blonde talk would get her somewhere.

"I quit at the Mayo Clinic, asked if the offer from New York Presbyterian was still open and accepted. I am moving, ultimately and for good. I have no idea how Addie will react because she doesn't know. But I love her. I was stupid enough to think that my diabetes would scare her off and then we were both stupid enough to think that we could be friends with benefits. I missed out on months I could have been with her and I am not gonna spend another day alone when I, theoretically, could be happy with her in New York. So, right now, I am packing my life up in some boxes to make the decision I should have made months ago."

Brown eyes had gone wide and she had spit out some of the water as she listened to her best friends ramblings. She could partly put herself into her best friend's position, she would not be able to spend months without her wife. But that was exactly the point, she never really had to go months without seeing the dimpled blonde. "Teddy, I get what you are saying, but what if-"

Cutting the Latina off, the blonde answered, "I know. I know what you want to ask and if Addie slams the door in my face, I'm gonna fight and if I have to, I'm gonna fight until she at least thinks about giving me a chance." Letting out some air, she thrummed her fingers on the arm of the couch. "I need her and if I ever think otherwise, you're allowed to shoot me or smash my head onto a table or whatever to knock some sense into me. I love her and I need her."

"So, you're really doing this?", Callie asked cautiously, playing with the decoration on one of the sideboards. She loved the little butterflies and turtles which were made of porcelain and glass. Arizona had neatly placed them onto the furniture, reasoning that these two animals were somehow always a part of their friendship and relationship, but when it came to dusting the wooden surfaces, it annoyed her.

"I am", the other blonde assured. "The new tenant will move in by the end of next week and I'll start at New York Presbyterian in two weeks. I'll fly to New York within the next few days to sign the new lease and everything will just go from there, I hope."

"Well, I wish you all the best and all the luck you need. Addison can be really pigheaded", the Latina said and tried to make up her mind on whether to tell her best friend about the big news or not. Deciding against it, there was still time when it actually gave some news to spill, she asked, "What do you do when she says no, definitively?"

There was a pause before Teddy answered, "Then I will finish my residency, either at NY Pres or I look for another open program for residence. One way or another, I'll become a heart surgeon and I will not be as arrogant as Dr. Burke..."

"That bad?"

"Don't even ask", Teddy stopped her best friend. "He's an asshole. Brilliant, yes, but I have never met a person like him. He yelled at the intern who wasn't able to take some blood, he kicked another intern out of the room when he couldn't incubate a patient and that was on their first days."

Callie couldn't help but think about Dr. Hahn as Teddy spoke. Her former superior reacted the same way when interns weren't able to do their work properly. Thankfully, that time was in the past for her and Dr. Hahn wasn't an issue anymore, but the cold blonde with the icy blue eyes had made sure to make her intern year a walk through the halls of Hades' living room.

"Look, Callie, I have to pack up the rest", Teddy ripped her best friend out of her thoughts. "I still have too much to do if I want everything to go smoothly. We'll talk soon, I promise, okay?"

"Yeah, okay", the brunette answered. "Take care, Teds." She got a take care in return and then the line went dead. "And what do I do now?", she asked out into the empty apartment before picking up Magic from his favorite spot under the breakfast bar and walked with him to the couch. Sinking down into the cushions she switched on the TV and zapped through the programs, stroking the cat's fur – he obviously loved the attention enough to make himself comfortable on her legs – and eventually settled for a movie from the nineties.

A-C-T

Stirring in the chair that had been her bed for the last night, Arizona rubbed her eyes and checked the time. She didn't get much sleep, not even a handful of hours, but at least Holly had responded to the second sedation and was out like a light since three in the morning. And eventually, sleep had come over the blonde and she had rested her head on the bed, holding the girl's hand so she wouldn't feel alone. But the horror in Holly's eyes had haunted the woman in her dreams, making her night not only short but also restless. Groaning while she stretched her sore muscles, she noticed the shadow behind the window and immediately, a smile appeared on her lips and she waved the woman behind the glass inside. "Good morning?", she said, her voice still raspy from the sleep.

"Good morning", the Latina smiled. "I thought I'd get up a little earlier to bring you coffee... 'cause you said you always needed my coffee?" Holding out the cup of coffee to go from the cart on the first floor, Callie eyed her wife, noticing the dark circles under the blonde's eyes and the messy hair. "Rough night?"

Thankfully bringing the cup to her lips and taking a few sips, Arizona closed her eyes as the hot liquid ran down her throat, knowing that the caffeine would soon start to wake up her body. "She didn't calm down for quite some time. When I got here, she was giving the nurses a hard time, screaming and thrashing around. Me being here helped, but they had to sedate her two times before she stopped fighting the tiredness." Looking over her shoulder to check if Holly was still asleep, she whispered, "She's so scared."

"I'd offer to stay with her so you could take a shower but I guess that wouldn't do her any good. Any news on when her parents will be here?" Walking behind Arizona, she started to massage the blonde's back, loosening the knots in her shoulder blades. "You know, these chairs are not meant to sleep in, right?"

Suppressing the moans that dared to leave her mouth, Arizona tilted her head to the left and let her wife's hands to their magic. "I know. But she needed me. Thanks for making me go."

"Always", the brunette spoke softly and worked a little harder on the tensions on the blonde's neck until her lover turned around in her arms and hid her face in the crook of her neck. Callie felt slender hands move under the light blue fabric of the scrub top, nails lightly grazing the soft skin. "Mhmm", she smiled and sighed into the embrace before whispering, "I love you."

"I love you too. And the fact that there might be a little one inside you right now, it's so amazing and new and exciting and I can't wait to meet them." Gently spreading out her finger so that her palm was right against her wife's belly, she let it wander and imagined how it would feel when Callie was showing, how the light bump would only hint at the pregnancy and what it would be like to feel the first kicks."

"It's still a little soon for that", Callie giggled and at the same time, snuggled more into the soft palms of her wife's hands.

Looking up to look into the most intense brown eyes Arizona had ever seen, she asked, "Do you feel pregnant?" She knew, the chance that it took was pretty low, she also knew that the Latina most likely didn't feel any different barely sixteen hours after the insemination, but asking never hurt anybody.

"Maybe?", she answered, narrowing her eyes. "To be honest, I don't know. I'm not even sure if I should feel anything already. The doctor in me says that it's too soon to feel anything, but the woman in me couldn't help but stare at her stomach this morning and put a hand on top of it", she admitted and gave her wife a lopsided smile.

Arizona mirrored the smile, showing off her dimples and bit her lip after a few seconds. "I would have loved to see this, I bet you looked more stunning than usual." Just the idea of this gorgeous Latina woman standing naked in front of the full-length-mirror, turning left and right while cupping the most beautiful showing belly in the world.

"More like moronic", the brunette scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"I think it's cute", the blonde responded, offering a beaming smile. She wanted to say something but two things prevented her from even finishing the thought in her head. The first thing was her grumbling stomach – she hadn't had much to eat since lunch yesterday because all she had done during dinner was picking into the food – and the second thing was the rustling of the blanket, signaling that Holly was waking up.

Not wanting to scare the girl even more, Callie asked, "Should I leave? Maybe pick you up for breakfast in an hour?"

"Yeah", Arizona nodded. She disliked that she couldn't spend more time with her wife right now, she had missed her deeply last night. But Holly came first right now and Callie had been right about one thing. If this would be their child, she wouldn't want them to be alone either, she would be glad for every person that helped their child to get over the fear. "I see you later", she agreed and kissed her wife a little longer than just a peck but not deep enough to turn it into a heated make-out session.

Leaving the room quietly, Callie sauntered through the hallways of the hospital towards the Orthopedic wing, more specifically, heading for the nurses' station. There was a surgery scheduled in an hour where she should be assisting Dr. Shimmer on a splintered fracture of the humeroradial joint and she wanted to go over the chart again. She loved difficult surgeries in the morning, especially when there were bones involved, but she liked to be prepared as well.

"Hey Cal, how's everything going?", Mark walked up to her, stopping right in front of the Latina, eying her for at least two minutes. "Wow, you look different", he stated. "Did you and Arizona... you know?"

"I have no idea what you mean, Mark." He was a good guy and he was one of her closest friend, especially with Teddy being miles away. Sure, she always had Arizona, but sometimes, she needed another person to talk to, and if it was simply to talk about a surprise for her wife. "Can I have the chart of Mr. Fullman?", she addressed the nurse behind the counter.

"You look really, I don't know, happy. Glowing. So I assume, you and blondie had a sleepless but sex-filled night."

Callie wanted to shoot him a look, stop his teasing while she was still in a good mood. But she couldn't. Mark had said that she was glowing. Pregnant women glowed. Maybe it did work, maybe she was already carrying their first baby.
