Maria was 7 months along in her pregnancy. But she hardly ate anything after her unique cravings. She tried eating simple things like porridge or stew. But she threw that all up.
"This can't be good for the baby." Maria whimpered. She was sick, and it wasn't giving Daniel much hope. Yet he still kept his spirits high. Tending to her every need and keeping her warm at night. She felt like a princess when she was with him.
A month and a half left till the baby was due, but Maria was too sick. She had to go to the hospital and fast. Upon arriving Matthew was there to look at them. Since, Willis was gone due to personal reasons. Her breathing had become labored and she had begun to break out into a cold sweat.
"No, the baby isn't due for another month and a half!" Daniel panicked.
"Calm down. I'll get another doctor here in another minute. After all I'm just a male nurse." Matthew said and went to call a doctor that was available. Meanwhile, Maria was sitting down in a wheel chair holding onto Daniel's arm.
"You're not going into labor are you?" he asked his sickly wife with so much concern that it was evident on his face. She shook her head.
"No, heh Daniel, my water hasn't even broken." she said with mock laughter. "I feel faint, Gott. How will the baby be affected by this?" she worried. Just then, Matthew returned.
"Alright folks I'm going to take the both of you to room 316 in the sick bay." Daniel then wheeled Maria towards the room, with Matthew leading the way. Upon arriving Matthew checked her blood pressure which was very high. Suddenly, Maria felt an excruciating pain shoot through her abdomen. She bit back a scream, which lead to a pained grunt. "This is bad very bad."
"You think!?" Daniel yelled at the poor guy. Maria started breathing like how they showed her in those classes she took with Daniel. In a hurry they wheeled her as fast as they could to the maternity ward. The reached the elevator with ease. As the doors closed the song "Time in a Bottle," by Jim Croce started to play.
"THE FIRST THING THAT I'D LIKE TO FUCKING DO IS TO GET THIS BABY OUT OF ME!" she yelled. The pain was almost unbearable. She felt sick to her stomach...literally. Upon arriving, there happened to be a doctor prepped and ready to go.
"Okay lift her onto the bed!" the doctor instructed. Doing so proved to end up bad for Maria as she screamed in pain "Gently! Now is this the first child?" Daniel nodded his head vigorously. Looking at Maria's awfully pale face the doctor had a very dreadful feeling. "Alright, when is the baby supposed to be due?"
"Next month, but this is too early!" Daniel replied. "Hang in there liebling." the doctor along with Matthew proceeded to hook her up to a heart moniter among other things.
"Alright you're gonna have to push for us." She pushed, but her breathing was starting to become labored. The heart moniter speeding up as her heart was pounding. "Push again," she pushed, screaming while doing so. The medication that they gave her still not kicking in. Daniel was panicking and couldn't take it so he went out of the room, just as he heard another cry come from his love's lips. He was sweating buckets, he thought that he couldn't be a father. Matthew came to Daniel. A urgent look on his face.
"Daniel...listen here." Matthew then proceeded to explain the situation, but Daniel didn't listen. His explanation falling to deaf ears.
