Kae: This, is by far the worse choice I have ever made. I mean, seriously. Rahne, why didn't you stop me?
Rahne: You wouldn't listen.
Kae: Sure, sure, its all my fault.
Rahne: Don't tell me you're blaming this whole fiasco on me!?
Kae: See? And now you won't even take responsibility for your actions.
Rahne: You know what? Screw this, my eyes are burning, my nose hurts, I'm pretty sure I've been infected with some sort of disease, and now, you're saying its my fault!? I'm done.
*Walks out*
Kae: Rahne wait! What am I supposed to do without my co-host!?
Todd: ...
Kae: ...
Todd: Sup...
Kae: This is all your fault.
The Danger Room. A special room in the institute made for the purpose of training and learning to control your abilities. While the other recruits hated it, our youngest ones loved it. Instead of simply training, the turned it into a competition. A fun one, and the winner would receive the ultimate prize. Bragging rights.
Beginning Danger Room Session: Combat Mode engaged. Time limit: 30 minutes
Camile walked over to a bench and grabbed two Nerf guns. Jamie appeared next to her, after a few seconds he picked up two batons.
"This'll do," he stated happily.
"Those only work if you get close to your target, these on the other hand, I can just safely snipe you guys from afar," Camile said with a smile.
"Getting close won't be a problem for me, I'm pretty fast,"
In a quick motion Camile had knocked both weapons from his grasp.
"I'm faster,"
"I wouldn't count on it,"
"What?"
Camile felt for her guns, Jamie held them out. She grinned.
"You're getting better,"
"I have a good teacher,"
"HEY LOVEBIRDS!?"
Both friends jumped at the sudden shout. Thomas stood across from them at the other side of the Danger Room.
"CAN YOU HURRY UP!?"
Jamie and Camile exchanged glances.
"NOW WOULD BE A GOOD TIME!"
THE ROUND WILL START IN 10 SECONDS, THE LAST MAN LEFT ON THE PLATFORM WINS
"This will be interesting," Camile said to herself.
10!
"Good luck!" she heard Jon yell.
9!
Jamie gripped both batons, he scanned his opponents; Jon, Thomas, and Camile. In the distance, Emily stood by watching them.
8!
Thomas concentrated on the small grains of sand surrounding him, he'd have to make use of the small amount. The smaller there was, the more he'd learn. He couldn't always rely on convenient piles of sand to be lying around everywhere.
7!
Even with his construct powers, this was not going to be an easy victory for Jon. Both Camile and Jamie were fast on their feet. Camile could camouflage herself, and Jamie could multiply, he'd have to be conscious of all his surroundings. How do you defeat something you can't see? You don't, invisible or not, you'll always be able to "see" them, whether its with sound, or vibrations, he could find her. It just wouldn't be an easy task.
6!
Emily stood at the ground, filled with both excitement and worry. Each one of her friends were great fighters, Camile's invisibility, Jamie's multiplying, Thomas' sand manipulation, and Jon's constructs, each ability made them tough opponents. While it was fun watching them train, it was painful to watch them hurt each other.
5!
4!
"Here we go!"
3!
"You guys are going down, literally,"
The platform the four stood one was raised several feet into the air. Water rushed out of several vents located at the floor of the Danger Room, the platform was surrounded in deep, freshwater.
2!
"Hey Thomas, I hope you know how to swim,"
"We'll see about that Camile,"
1!
The four rushed forward. Camile quickly disappeared, and Thomas and Jon met in the battlefield while Jamie stood still, searching for an invisible Camile.
"Okay Tom, let's make this quick, my constructs are stronger than your sand,"
"You could say that,"
Thomas' hand grew to several times their usual size. A red sword and shield formed in Jon's hands. Thomas leapt forward, sending his fist hurtling towards Jon's center. Jon dug his heels into the ground and forced the fist back with his shield. Thomas staggered back, and Jon sliced at him with the sword. Thomas side-stepped to his right, a tendril of sand shot through the air towards Jon's face. The only thing the sand hit was a construct shield.
"You'll have to do better than that Thomas,"
"Oh, I plan to,"
Thomas faded into a large pile of sand. The pile shifted, and turned until it was in the shape of a sphere.
"That's new,"
Several tendrils of sand erupted from the sphere, winding around in the air.
"So is that,"
...
"Here Camile, Camile, Camile, come out wherever you are?" Jamie said.
His batons had not left his grip. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
"Focus, focus, just like Camile taught you,"
He listened, nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Tap Tap
Jamie struck his baton forward, he could feel it graze something.
"I know you're there Cami-"
He could hear two 'pops'. He immedietly ducked, two darts flew over his head.
POP! POP!
He batted the two darts from the air.
"Come on Camile, I know you can do better,"
Camile suddenly appeared before him, a large grin on her face.
"Be careful what you wish for," was all that she said before, without warning, firing several more shots.
Jamie deflected several of the darts the performed a short cartwheel, dodging several more in the process. He yelled before leaping towards his attacker, she seemed anxious to meet him in battle. Camile leapt out of his way, and pointed the gun at his head. Jamie quickly swiped the gun away, before rushing her.
He struck,
and struck,
and struck,
and struck,
again and again, Camile successfully dodging every attack.
He jabbed at her stomach, Camile stepped to the side and elbowed his back. Jamie cried out, falling against the edge of the platform. He recuperated quickly, and looked up, Camile was flying towards him. He jumped out of the way, Camile landed against the platform's edge and abruptly leapt at him again.
...
Jon leapt to his right as a tendril of sand smashed itself into the ground. He sliced another one that was heading his way in half, then bashed his shield into another. More tendrils were quickly slithering his way. Jon ran in circles around the sphere, dodging and slicing any tendrils in his way. After several laps the sphere remained unaffected.
"Okay, let's try a different approach," he said.
He looked towards the water surrounding the platform. He created a large bucket and scooped some of it up before throwing it all onto the sphere. The sand formation seemed just a bit weaker.
"Well, a bigger bucket might do,"
Still managing to dodge incoming sand shots, Jon created a bubble big enough to surround him, he filled it and drenched the sphere. It fell apart, after a few seconds a large pile of wet sand lie on the ground.
"Hey, Thomas, are you al-"
The pile exploded, Thomas reforming in the sand in the air. He leapt at Jon and tackled him to the ground. Jon brought both of his legs into Thomas' chest, and sent him flying into the center of the platform. Jon's hands were covered in large, construct fists. He ran for Thomas' limp form, only to be forced back by a large wave of sand. Both Jon and Thomas stood up, Thomas' hand forming into a large hammer, Jon wearing his two construct fists.
"Okay, this just got interesting,"
...
Jamie and Camile were locked in hand-to-baton combat. Jamie caught an oncoming punch, and swung Camile back onto the platform's edge. The young girl rolled, Jamie's foot catching nothing but the ground. Camile jumped o her feet. Jamie leapt at her, striking for stomach. Camile did a split, and, in a motion faster than one could process, she swept Jamie off of his feet. She pounced onto him, pinning him to the ground.
Jamie fought back a blush and used both legs to propelled her several feet behind him onto the ground. Camile leapt up to her feet like a cat, and rushed at him again. Jamie rolled backwards, several darts hit the ground before him. He struck forward, but to his dismay, the girl that was once in front of him was now at his side. Camile brought both elbows down onto his back. Jamie was smashed onto the ground in an ungraceful matter.
The air was knocked out of him, and Camile stood over his sprawled out form.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
It took Jamie several minutes to reply.
"Y-you're fast," he stammered.
Camile giggled.
"Thanks, you wanna keep going?"
Jamie held up his hand for her to pause.
"Sure,"
...
Jon forced back Thomas' hammer-hand and kicked him in the chest. Thomas staggered back a bit before swinging his hammer forward. Jon blocked the attack with two fists. He leapt at Thomas once again, only to be knocked away by another hammer. He skidded against the platform, eventually knocking an unsuspecting Jamie to the ground.
"Where did you come from!?" Jamie yelled.
Jon pointed towards and approaching Sandman.
Before Construct could react, Thomas was kicked back, Camile running after his flying form. Jon and Jamie exchanged glances before tackling each other.
...
Jamie was forced back, a large construct spear poking his way. He narrowly avoided the weapon before grabbing it and swinging Jon towards the edge of the platform. Jamie bolted towards him, two batons in hand. Once again he was knocked back, this time onto the ground. He rolled forward, a large fist missing its mark. In a split second he was behind Jon, jabbing him twice, in the back.
Jon cried out and swung a fist backwards. Jamie was sent flying over the platform's edge. For the first time that battle, he used his powers. A multiple grabbed his leg, saving him from disqualification, and threw him towards a shocked Jon. Jon created a construct wall, Jamie kicked off of it and flipped onto the ground several feet away. The wall was sent sailing his way, Jamie, with the use of a multiple, leapt over it, and ran to meet his opponent.
...
Camile's fist was once again buried into the body of Sandman. She yanked it out and jumped up, avoiding a thick tendril of sand. Thomas erupted from the displaced mound of sand. He rushed her, firing a flurry of punches and sand her way. Camile dodged all of them, and struck him down. She jumped up, attempting to land an attack from above, the plan had failed, Thomas had scattered into several tendrils of sand before reforming several feet away from her. He leapt at her, absorbing several darts that were shot his way.
Camile dove out of the way, Thomas missing her by inches. He kicked off the ground, collapsing into a wave of sand, and flew towards her once again. This time Camile wasn't fast enough to avoid the attack. She was engulfed in sand and raise up into the air, held up by a large, sand-forged, hand as Thomas reformed.
"This would be less painful if you just gave up," he said.
Camile smiled.
"When's the last time I gave up?"
She kicked out of the hand's grasp and faded into invisibility. Thomas looked around, the Chameleon was gone.
"Sometimes I hate that girl,"
Thomas was suddenly struck on the back of his head.
Then, his chest.
Knee.
Stomach.
Leg.
Back.
Thomas sent a shockwave of sand. After a loud 'CLANG' Camile reappeared on the floor beside him. She sat up, smiled, then disappeared once more.
Thomas remained cautious, aware of his surroundings. The Chameleon was close.
POP!
He quickly raised his hand to deflect a dart, then within a split second sent a large wave of sand in the direction. The sand hit nothing but air. Thomas gasped, and quickly spun around, much too late to block a powerful punch from Camile. He hit the ground, hard.
...
Jon let out a pained cry as a Multiple struck his back. He spun around, construct fist readied, and sent it sailing off the platform. Another one delivered a dropkick, sending him to the ground. Two Multiples stood over him, he couldn't be sure which one was the real Jamie. He took the time to look behind him.
"Looks like Sandman's having some trouble," he thought to himself.
One of the Multiples raise a leg, Jon swiftly sat up and swiped at their feet with an extended leg. The Multiples fell to the ground. Jon stood up and hopped away from them. The Multiples stood up, Jon taunted them, daring them to come closer. One Multiple ran for him, the other one close behind it. Jon tripped the Multiple using a red construct bar, then swung at the other one.
This Multiple must have been the real Jamie, with inhuman speed it ducked, sliding on the floor, and, with the use of a baton, knocked Jon's leg up from under him. Jon, once again, fell to the ground, rolling just in time to avoid a powerful stomp. Jon rolled onto his feet, (Don't ask me how that works), and struck with a construct riot shield. Jamie somersaulted over it, and quickly delivered a kick to Jon's back. Jon stumbled forwards and quickly regained his footing.
He and Jamie stood face-to-face, Jon created to large sabers, Jamie held his two batons with pride. The two rushed at each other, saber and batons clashing. Jamie struck from above, Jon jumped back, easily avoiding it, and stabbed his weapon forwards. Jamie parried it with a baton, jumped up, and nailed Jon in the chest with the other. Jon was knocked several feet backwards, throwing two, blunt, ninja stars forwards. Jamie knocked them both out of the air.
He multiplied into three, and the group ran to meet a recuperated Jon. Jon created a construct replica of Captain America's shield and sent one flying. He jumped in-between the other two and threw the shield. It bounced of one Multiple, and hit the other. He caught the shield, and watched as Jamie stood up.
"Captain America vs Nightwing," he said.
Jamie smiled, and raised his two batons.
"Go,"
...
Five minutes, that's all they had left. Five minutes. They had somehow managed to keep the fight going for over 25 minutes, truly, Camile had taught them well. If it wasn't for that stray Multiple flying into her, she would have already handled Thomas. Now her stood in front of her, and surprise-surprise, he wasn't in his best of moods. His right hand was a large whip, and his left was an even bigger hammer.
She smiled, she had the perfect way to win the match. She ran towards Thomas, and jumped over the shocked teen. Thomas quickly ran after her. Camile aimed a dart at Jon's head and fired. An enraged Jon threw his shield at the approaching girl. Camile slid, avoiding the shield, and making her way through Jon's legs.
Now this is what she hadn't counted on. Everything went in slow motion.
Jamie ran towards Jon, Camile slowly sliding under his legs. Jon's shield bounced of the Danger Room wall and sailed back towards Thomas. Jamie leapt forward, landing onto Jon's back and kicking off to propel himself into the air. The shield hit Thomas in the back, sending him flying right into Jon. Both were knocked off the platform. Camile stood up and spun around. Jamie was flying right towards her. Faced with no escape, she raised her arms in defense. Jamie smashed both feet into her arms, and Camile was sent flying into the water.
Jamie landed back onto the platform letting out a victorious battle cry.
"I WON!" he exclaimed.
His three former opponents surfaced.
"Camile, that was so cheap," Thomas said.
"It was worth the try," she replied.
"Was it?" Jon inquired.
Jamie was doing a victory dance. Slowly the Danger Room reverted back to normal, and Emily ran into the room, her face filled with concerned looks. To everyone's amusement she ran straight for Jon, placing his arm around her neck and helping him up.
"I'm fine Emily, just a few bruises," he said.
The poor girl looked like she was about to faint.
"Yeah, we're fine too, thanks for asking," Camile said sarcastically, motioning to herself, Thomas, and Jamie.
The girl paid her no mind, and simply helped Jon towards the infirmary.
"Well, that was a good game boys, you guys up for a rematch?"
Kae: Annnnd...we're back. Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, but now we need to get on with the interview. Oh, and Rahne's back. You wouldn't believe the amount of time she made me apologize.
Rahne: I'm still getting that chocolate right?
Kae: Yes Rahne, you'll get the stupid chocolate.
Rahne: OK, now, here we are with Toad!
Kae" You act like that's a good thing.
Todd: Hey!
Kae: When's the last time you showered?
Todd: What's a shower?
Kae: This is why Wanda doesn't like you.
Todd: What do you mean? Babycakes loves me!
Kae: No...no she does not.
Todd: ...Really?
Rahne: Yes Toad, we're being honest here.
Todd: Oh...
Kae: Well, this is getting awkward, time or an interview!
Todd: ...
Kae: So... what powers, besides stink, do you have?
Todd: Slime, long tongue, slime, big jumps, slime...hmm what else is there? Oh yeah, slime!
Kae: ...moving on...
Todd: You do know I was kidding about the whole "not knowing what a shower is" thing right?
Kae: About that, how many times a day do you shower?
Todd: ...
Kae: Times a week?
Todd: ...
Kae: T_T Times a month?
Todd: Once...
Kae: With that sort of hygiene, Wanda is never going to like you.
Todd: I know...
Kae: Just a little tip here...how about you brush your teeth at least twice-
Todd: O_O
Kae: -Once a day, take a bath once a day, and use a little-
Rahne: ...
Kae: -a lot of deodorant to cover up that...stench. Maybe a little mouthwash too,
Todd: I do use mouthwash!
Rahne: Not enough.
Kae: And after a month, we'll check your progress.
Todd: Fine...
Kae: Maybe you should also brush your teeth after eating your..."lunch".
Todd: What!?
Kae: Well, that's all we have today guys, I hope you enjoyed the story.
Rahne: Next time we'll have a chapter about the Brotherhood, or just simple Pool day, what would you prefer?
Kae: Anyways, we'll see you next time.
Rahne: Bye!
