Dia walked into Luchi's kitchen putting on a sweater. Luchi was busy making coffee and looking through messages on her phone. She hadn't slept much for the past few days. She felt different and jittery and she couldn't help, but think of Kol and what he had said to her.

"Morning" Dia spoke.

"Hey how you doing?" Luchi asked.

"Eh I could be better, I didn't get a lot of sleep last night" Dia replied.

"I'm sorry chica. You've had a stressful few days. A lot has happened" Luchi replied.

"Yeah no kidding" Dia said grabbing a mug from the cabinet. "I woke up this morning with this on my wrist". Dia rolled up her sleeve to reveal a moon and star mark on her wrist.

"You didn't sleep walk and get a tattoo did you" Luchi frowned.

"It looks like that doesn't it?" Dia sighed. "I have no clue how that appeared. It wasn't there on when I went to sleep."

"Maybe it has something to do with your claiming?" Luchi suggested.

"That's what I think" DIa began. "I think I'm going to see Dominique about it."

"You're going back there? Are you sure that's a good idea?" Luchi asked.

"She's my only connection to anything gypsy related. Who do you trust more Katherine or Dominique" DIa looked at her.

"I'll take anyone over that vampire bitch" Luchi told her.

"Luch…."Dia sighed.

"Don't you Luch me" Luchi snapped. "She comes barging in telling me someone sent her and she expects me to just let her know where you are. No!"

"She said someone sent her?" Dia frowned. "She didn't mention that."

"She's not to be trusted Dia" Luchi called out as Dia left the kitchen.

"Yeah yeah" Dia shouted.

Elena and Damon walked down a crowded street in New York. Elena had shut off her emotions after Jeremy had been killed. Katherine had killed him and stolen the cure. In her grief, Damon convinced to shut off her emotions, but she was now out of control

"You dragged me all the way to New York because you were feeling nostalgic?" Elena huffed.

"No, I dragged you to New York because in a matter of three days, you managed to piss off everyone in Mystic Falls. A little more difficult to do in a city of millions" Damon snapped back.

"I was hungry" Elena shrugged.

"You were reckless" he looked at her.

"Emotionless. There's a difference" she said apathetically.

"Look, all that matters is that when I lived here, I fed like crazy and had a blast and went undetected for years" Damon told her.

"So... we're just here to have fun?" Elena stopped walking and Damon turned to face her. "What's the catch?"

"There's no catch. Look, you wanted out, I got you out. You wanted to feed, I brought you to a city-sized, all-you-can-eat buffet" he began. "That's the beauty of New York- there's so much life that a little death goes unnoticed." Elena nodded at him and smiled. "Come on, let's go get some lunch" he suggested.

"Oooh that's new" Dominique spoke examining Dia's wrist. Dia had come in for answers once again.

"What's that suppose to mean?" Dia frowned. "Isn't this normal."

"Not really" Dominique replied. She let go of Dia's wrist and began to flip through a book on the table. The two of them sat in silence, but Dia knew that she needed to speak.

"Look I'm sorry about running out of here the other day" she began.

"It's fine" Dominique looked up. "You went through a lot in those few days. It's perfectly understandable. I'm actually surprised you didn't snap sooner. I can't find anything in the book about that mark on your wrist."

"Has anyone ever been claimed as I have before?" Dia asked.

"I've never seen anything in my research before. I think you're the first" Dominique replied.

"Fantastic" Dia sighed.

"It'll be alright Dia" Dominique said. She pulled out another book and handed it to Dia. "Here I made this for you over the last couple of days. There's spells, potions, and really anything you need to help with your powers."

"My own personal gypsy grimore" Dia smiled. "Thank you so much."

"Dia there's something else" Dominique began. "Be wary of Katherine. I know of your history with one another, but she has a reputation that even the gypsies know about. Just watch her carefully. She seemed like she was up to something when she was here."

"I will" Dia nodded. She thought about it for a moment. Maybe Dominique was right. "I should probably go."

"Call me if you need anything Dia" Dominique walked over to her and hugged her. "You're special. Always remember that."

"Thank you" Dia smiled. She grabbed her book and walked out of the shop. Taking a deep breath she put the book in her bag and walked back to the main street. She pulled out her phone and dialed Elijah's number. Once again it went to voicemail.

"Elijah it's me again. Look I don't know what to think anymore. I keep calling you and you can't seem to respond. I guess I must have really broke your heart. I sent Katherine to find you. Elijah I really need to talk to you. Please just call me back." Dia hung up the phone and sighed. She continued to walk down the street. She looked up and then stopped dead in her tracks. She blinked a few times to make sure she wasn't dreaming.

"Damon?" Dia spoke. He looked over and walked towards Dia. The pair embraced one another tightly.

"Dia" he breathed. "It's so good to see you"

"Why are you here?" she asked pulling away. "Where's everyone else?"

Damon looked at her and sighed. "It's a bit of a long story."

"Cliff notes then" she replied quickly.

"Well Dia for starters, Jeremy's dead" he said. Dia froze. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"No" she gasped. "How?"

"We went to this island trying to find the cure. Once Jeremy killed Kol…." Damon stopped noticing Dia's face. A stray tear was slowly making its way down her face. "Jeremy's tattoo showed us a map to where the cure was. When we got there we ran into hunters and Katherine. Katherine killed Jeremy and got away with the cure." Damon explained.

"Wait…Damon, Katherine was here a few days ago" Dia spoke.

"Where is she now?" Damon demanded.

"I don't know" Dia explained. "I had her go look for Elijah. I haven't heard from him in a while. Damon something happened to me." She rolled up the sleeve of her sweater and showed him his wrist.

"What the hell is that?" Damon asked examining the mark.

"I found out that the reason my powers have been out of control is because I was beginning my claiming. Every female gypsy goes through it. I got claimed for both the light and the dark." Dia rolled down her sleeve.

"So you're somehow pure evil and good at the same time" Damon smirked.

"Shut up" Dia exclaimed. "How's Elena doing?"

"Yeah about that…" Damon began. "I might have sort of told her to switch her emotions off thanks to the sire bond."

"You did what?" Dia exclaimed.

"She was a wreck, but I brought her here, but Dia she's not the same Elena you knew before. She's cold and mean and emotionless" Damon explained.

Damon stood on the street with Dia. Stefan had been calling on and off and Damon finally answered. Damon had brought Elena to New York to help her mellow out and hadn't told Stefan.

"Hey, what do you mean you took her to New York?" Stefan snapped.

"And that tone is the reason I didn't pick up the phone the first twenty times you called" Damon shot back.

"Where is she now?" Stefan asked.

"Out exploring. Maybe she's eating a hot dog... vendor" Damon smirked.

"So I take it your search for Katherine is off?" Stefan sked.

"Relax, man. This little joyride is actually a cure hunt" Damon said holding up a picture of him and another man Dia didn't recognize. That vampire that Katherine sent after Hayley was a friend of mine. He lived in the city. Will got vampires fake identities, and I'm sure that Katherine was one of his clients. Dia's here and said that Katherine was in New York, so she's going to try and get a hold of her and do a locator spell."

"And Elena's okay with this little field trip? Just yesterday she was living the vampire high life. She doesn't want the cure" Stefan said.

"That's why I didn't tell her" Damon replied.

"Damon, if she finds out you're still looking for it, she'll bolt" Stefan told him.

"I'm aware of that, Stefan. What I'm hoping is that she's going to be so wasted on booze and blood that she won't even think about it" Damon explained.

"Don't underestimate her" Stefan stated.

"If I can handle you when you flipped your switch, I can handle her. Trust me" Stefan shot back.

"Listen to me. She's ruthless without her humanity. The cure is the fastest way to get it back. She also might snap if Dia is with you." Stefan said.

Just be a good brother and keep Mystic Falls afloat for me and let me do my thing" Damon looked up and saw Elena with a new haircut and highlights. "You've got an immortal named Silas to deal with, remember?" He hung up while staring at Elena. She smiled at him and showed off her new looking. She walked towards Damon and stopped when she saw Dia.

"Well look who decided to finally decided to stop being a coward and reveal herself" Elena sneered. "You know it's getting a little old that you keep coming here. Why don't you just do us all a favor and just stay here?"

"Wow you weren't kidding. Someone took a double dose of their bitch pill this morning" Dia glared.

"You know I'm hungry. I think I'll just rip your throat out now" Elena sneered. She sped over towards Dia, but the next thing she knew she was thrown against a wall.

"Yeah I wouldn't try that if I were you" Dia smirked.

"Ladies" Damon said. "Let's just calm down. We have catching up to do."

Damon, Elena, and Dia walked into a dimly lit bar. Dia recognized it from the picture that Damon was holding earlier. She quickly glanced at her phone. She had no call from Katherine or Elijah.

"Looks about right" Damon spoke.

"I was promised hedonism" Elena sighed.

"You should be promised a stake" Dia piped in.

"Be nice Dia. Well, it's early. Hedonism isn't a big fan of the sunlight" Damon replied.

"Or soap" Elena said making a face.

"Easy, judgy. Not everybody got a hot new haircut today" Damon smirked as Elena smiled."Give it a couple of hours. This place will be crawling with more punked-out nihilists than you can eat in a decade, trust me."

"How do you know?" Elena asked.

"Because I spent most of the seventies here. The Factory was too clean, CBGB's was too high-profile, but Billy's- Billy's was the underground of the underground" Damon explained.

"And what did you do here exactly?" Dia asked.

"Use your imagination" Damon smirked.

Damon finished explaining about his nightlife in New York during the 70s. He was out of control to the point that Lexi showed up.

"You got Lexied?" Elena frowned.

"That's actually surprising" Dia said in shock.

Before Damon could respond, his head was slammed down on the table. By Rebekah. She noticed Dia and smiled happily.

" Did I'm so happy to see you! Have you heard from Elijah?" she asked before turning her attention back to Damon. "Following a lead without me? Poor form, Damon." Elena frowned and Rebekah just smiled at her.

"I have to say I'm a little hurt, Damon" Rebekah continued releasing Damon's head. "I thought we made a good team. Not without its fireworks, but what classic pairing isn't?"

"Wait. What the hell are you talking about?" Elena demanded.

"Damon's following a lead to the cure. I'm following him. Notice your name never came up" Rebekah smirked.

"You're doing what?" Elena exclaimed.

"Oh boy" Dia replied. "This is not going to end well."

"How does it feel to be wrong all the time? I brought Elena here to feed. I mean, Mystic Falls isn't exactly Vamp Xanadu right now" Damon sneered.

"Right. So you drove 7 hours to New York City?" Rebekah asked.

"Yes, and as I was explaining to Elena, before we were so rudely interrupted, that my history in this city has a particular resonance to her current situation" he said looking back at Elena. "When I had my humanity off."
