Chapter 28: The Story of a Mother

Kyon's mom's point-of-view

I remember the day Kyon was born. She was so cute and sweet. Once she and Kyo were together, they clung to each other. Since that day, the 2 have been with each other constantly. Until they were 3, I had to keep them in the same bed just so they would sleep. Their father showed them off to all of his friends. There was even a man that owned hospitals and resorts for medical relaxation. He was there with his wife and 4 children the day the twins were born. His children were quiet, even the one that only had one birthday. All of them looked silently at our dear little twins in awe. I have never seen a one year old so quiet in my life as when he saw them.

(It was a boy?)

Yes it was. Now hush up. I'm trying to tell a story to you.

(Sorry.)

Anyways, we met with them on multiple occasions. We would go to parties or hold parties of our own. Their father was rich through generations of hard work. I tried to get the boy to interact with my babies every time we saw him. He always did happily. Their little girl was also happy to do so. She is 9 years older than him and really nice. When the twins were 3, I was forced to start leaving them with the other children. The first time, I had an argument with the one that owned the hospitals. I hated being away from my babies and he didn't understand that.

"I fail to see why you are so worried about your children. They are with my children so they will be fine. There is no reason for you to worry."

"It's not that I'm worried about their safety. It's that I hate being away from them. They're my babies."

"You have no need for concern or hatred." He scoffed and looked away which infuriated me even more.

"Just because you don't love your children and spend time with them doesn't mean that I am the same way!" After that, he wanted me to leave. I didn't leave because I didn't want to give him the satisfaction.

"I want you out of here! I want you out of my study! Get out!"

"Go to hell! I will not leave. You don't deserve the satisfaction."

"Darling, let's just get the kids and leave. If he wants to be horrible to you, I refuse to stay in this house a moment longer." He took my hand and gently led me from the room. When we got to the children, they were playing hide-and-seek in pairs. As a way to "check the twin telepathy", Kyon and the girl were in a pair while Kyo and the little boy were in a pair.

"Kyo, Kyon, it's time to go, "I said lovingly to my children. Kyon led the girl to where the boys were hiding and tagged both.

"Mama said it was time to go," Kyon said softly. She hugged both children from the other family. The little boy didn't let go.

"Let go of my sister. It's time for us to go."

"I don't want you to go. You 2 are my friends. Don't go?" he asked cutely.

"We have to though! Our mama said so," said Kyo. He always was the loud one.

"Awwwwwwwww! That's so sad!" The little girl practically tackled my much smaller son with a hug. They managed to stay standing somehow.

"Let go of me! All girls have cooties except Kyon! Kyon! Help me!"

"I'm trapped too, Kyo. Sorry. But enjoy the hug. Hugs are nice and they make people smile." She turned her head towards him and smiled to show their effectiveness. The boy let go of her and smiled apologetically.

"I'm sorry for keeping you away from your parents. You 2 are my only friends though." Kyon grinned in response.

"It's ok! You and your sister are our only friends too! We'll see you next time! Bye!"

"Bye Kyon!" He hugged her again. It was a short hug. Kyon smiled bigger and scrambled to help Kyo be released from the grip on him.

"Yumi-chan?" The girl looked up at Kyon's inquisitive voice being so close. "Will you let go of Kyo? We have to go." The girl let go and attached herself to Kyon while Kyo ran off to say bye to the boy.

"I'm going to miss you guys making my brother smile and laugh with happiness and fun! The other 2 should've stayed here instead of going to play doctor alone! You 2 are so much fun!"

"Thank you Yumi-chan. Will you let go now?"

"Bye Kyon!" She squeezed my daughter once again and let go. I stepped forward and scooped up both of my children in my arms with tears of joy at them having such close friends already. They hugged me tightly and reassured me since they thought I was upset and we went home. The next serious thing happened when the twins were 4. I forced Kyon to stay with the boy, without Kyo there at the request of my husband. The 2 were happy to spend time together, but Kyon missed Kyo so much that most of the time was spent with her crying and the boy comforting her. It broke my heart to see the tears in her eyes. The boy seemed upset too.

"Come on Kyon. I want to show you something." She sniffled and looked up at him with tearful eyes.

"What do you want to show me, Ya-kun?" He smiled at her brightly.

"It's a surprise! You'll like it though!"

"Ok." He held out a hand. She placed her own in it and he led her away from my husband and I. I looked to my husband for answers about separating the twins.

"Yoshio wanted them to be separated to get to know his children better, or some lie he spent hours on like that."

"You don't believe him?" I questioned. He shook his head.

"I didn't believe it for one second. He wants something bigger from this." A few moments later, the man in question appeared with a smirk.

"Hello Kuma. It is great to see you separated the twins accordingly. My youngest seems to be having fun running around with your daughter holding on by his hand."

"What do you want out of this Yoshio? I take matters concerning my family very seriously."

"I will explain in private. My wife wishes to speak with Kohana." He nodded his head to me. I stood and kissed my husband's cheek.

"Where is she?"

"With Akito and your son. The 2 boys aren't getting along very well so she is finding a solution to their problem before separating the 2 boys."

"I will head over there then." I looked to my husband. "Have fun. Keep our family secure." I left to find my good friend and fellow mother. I found out that our husbands made a marriage contract between my daughter and the youngest son. I was infuriated so I found a loophole to get her out of it. When that happened, Yoshio did the unthinkable. He told my husband's parents about how I had given up the chance to be heir and given it to my younger sister since that was something that she truly desired. They made us divorce. He had to leave us. In order to keep us safe, he left while the twins slept and told the neighbors about what happened, making sure to add that they needed to keep us safe. Kyon closed herself off to the world. She distanced herself from everyone in a desperate hope to get her father back. He wanted to come back so much, yet he couldn't. I remember when her father was getting remarried. The twins were 11 when we found out. They went to school with tears in their eyes and came back with smiles and a girl that went past the house after saying goodbye to them.

"Who was that girl I saw you with?" They smiled brightly and set their things down.

"That was Haruhi Fujioka! She's our new friend! Kyon talked to her!"

"Kyo did too! She started talking to us first though. She's really nice!" I smiled and hugged them both.

"I'm happy for you and very proud that you let yourself get close to someone else."

"Thank you Mommy," they said together. Someone else had entered their world to stay. That made me happy, thrilled even. The next year, their father held a party and invited us all to it. His wife uninvited me without telling Kuma about it. I kept it secret as well. That I where the twins met the Haninozukas and the Morinozukas. Kyo had been falling in love for a few months. It was Kyon's turn to do it. They came back from the party in exhausted states. The next morning, Kyon was dancing around the house and singing. I put my hands on her shoulders to hold her still when it became too much.

"You're in love." She smiled innocently.

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Yes you do. Who is the boy?"

"He was someone from the party. Father introduced us and said that we had met before. He said that about a lot of people at the party. I seriously lost count of the people. There were so many. He's a little older and rich so we can't really be together. We live in different worlds. It's sad when I think about it. Then I remember the look he gave me and his wonderful smile after realizing that we had met before. I don't remember him though. Oh well. He is really cute!"

"I'm glad you're in love. You're too young for it though! My babies are too young to be in love!" I wrapped her in a hug and squeezed her tightly.

"It's not like I'm going to be dating him or anything. We live in different worlds and he can't be with someone outside of the world he is in. So there is nothing for you to worry about!" I let go and got ready for work. When I left the house, Kyo was talking to Kyon about the same thing. Their spring formal was the next year and I got about a thousand pictures of my single children and their best friend. That isn't too important though so ignore the comment. We had to move to America two years after because we were in danger. Their father arranged it and even bought us a house. So we could live there. I had given birth to their sister by then and he took her for safety that his parents and wife would accept. Kyon closed off again, except it was different. She wasn't upset about it. She just went through phases. Look at these pictures of the different phases. There, she dresses in revealing clothes. Then it's her dark phase, then her cheerleader phase, then her innocent schoolgirl phase. She cycled through those for the 2 years we spent in America. When we came back, she settled on her current phase and let herself open up the tiniest bit. I got 3 jobs to support us. She enrolled in Ouran Academy and got a full scholarship. Kyo did the same after she told him about her plan on getting a great school for no cost. Their first day there, Kyon met Haruhi again.

"Mom! Mom! Mom! Mom!"

"Yes Kyon?"

"I know you just got home, but I wanted to tell you that I met Haruhi and got some school uniforms for me and Kyo! I also joined the club that Haruhi is in!"

"That's great! I'm so happy for you!"

"Here's your dinner. I kept it warm." She held up a plate before setting it on the table.

"Thank you. I could have made something."

"Mom, you only know how to make sandwiches. You need a real meal. So there it is! Now eat." She got a stern look on her face so I laughed and sat to eat like she was forcing me to do. She ran off to clean the house with a smile on her face. Being in that club made her really open up. I am so happy about this. Kyo joined the club as well and he's the same, except for his crazy girlfriend. I like her though and I approve. That's pretty much the story of my baby Kyon.
