BPOV

The morning of my birthday dawned bright and early. I woke up so early that the sun was barely peeking out above the trees and long before the alarm I set went off. I quickly shut the alarm off so it wouldn't go off and wake someone up. Quietly I changed into the clothes that I had laid out the night before after Jasper said I should wear comfortable clothes for our day out. He had added that any nice clothes I had would just end up dirty and or ruined.

Once I was dressed and ready to go, I grabbed my bag and slipped out of the Dunn family home before anyone was the wiser. I knew I would be in for it later when I returned to the house.

When I got down to the end of the driveway I saw a massive black truck that several boys back home would fall in love with. I was not surprised to see Jasper sitting in the front of it.

"Hurry up Bella we have to get on the road." Jasper said.

I climbed into the truck with Jasper's help. I settled into the seat behind him and Peter (the son of Jasper's host family). They started talking but I have no idea what it was about.

"Bella," Jasper called.

"I'm sorry what did you want?" I asked.

"Peter was just telling me that we have two stops to make. One to pick up his girlfriend Charlotte and another to pick up food."

"I'm cool with that. Whatever keeps me out of the path of the Dunns'." I replied.

"My girl is one of them." Peter said.

"Your girlfriend may share the same last name as them and maybe some blood but she is not one of them." I said. "She is dating you after all."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Peter asked looking a little ticked off at my statement.

"Her family or at least her sister and stepmother believe that you are not high enough on the social ladder to be dating her." I said. "Clearly she does not feel the same way as I have yet to meet her and I have been staying with her family for months."

"That is because she doesn't speak to anyone but her father unless she absolutely has to."

"I understand I am in the same position with my mother." I replied. "Now get moving peter we have your girl to pick up."

Peter grinned at me before putting the truck in gear. It only took us about an hour to get to where Charlotte was staying with her friends.

Charlotte was a whole lot prettier than her snobby younger sister and her inner beauty shined brighter than any of sister's outer beauty (if you could call it that).

"So Peter tells me that today is your birthday," Charlotte said.

"It is my birthday." I replied.

"And you don't want to do anything special?"

"I'm used to doing things simple and getting away from your little sister is good enough." I said. "My dad is on a fishing trip with his best friend and is out of reach for cell phone service. Otherwise I would call him."

"You sound like you are very close to him." Charlotte said.

"My dad is all I have." I replied. "I haven't spoken to my mother in years."

"I can sense a story but since it is your birthday I will leave it alone."

Things were a little awkward after my talk with charlotte but being stuck in a truck did that kind of thing.
