The green eyed female looked in the mirror and wiped her reddened eyes. While she stared at the two pink lines, her stomach clenched and she nearly lost her stomach contents for the second time today. She ran her fingers though her dark hair and let the tears flow down her pale cheeks. She sat against the wall across from the bathroom sink and hugged her knees against her chest. She couldn't shake all of the horrible thoughts entering her mind. She wouldn't survive, the baby wouldn't survive, and her family would have to live without her.

"Everything okay in there?" Dale asked from the other side of the door.

"Y—yeah," she replied. "I'll be out in a minute." She tucked her hair behind her ears and exited the bathroom.

"Lori's pregnant," Rick told Shane while they were on their watch for walkers.

"She's what?" Shane asked.

"She's pregnant…and she thinks it might be yours."

"Jesus Christ!" Shane exclaimed. "It ain't mine," he said. "I don' care what she says…she's married to you."

"Shane, if there were divorce lawyers around we wouldn't be married anymore."

"She picked you man," the brown eyed man sighed. He didn't want to have that connection with Lori. He had his two children. Their time together was a mistake. He wasn't going to let another kid get in the way of Grace and Aidan now, not like he nearly did when he was with Lori. Carl became too much a priority then and he didn't want jealously from either of his children. "An' clearly she tol' ya first, so that's gotta mean somethin'. When exactly did she tell ya 'bout this anyway?"

Shane looked at his best friend with shock and a hint of annoyance.

"We can take watch now," Charlotte said, walking out onto the porch with Daryl. Rick and Shane nodded before leaving. She ignored the tension between the two men because frankly, it wasn't her business. She didn't care what they were talking about and she didn't actually need to know. There really wasn't much to do now; it was so cold that they couldn't really do anything. Keeping watch was pretty much the only thing to occupy their time without being indoors. It was nice to be warm, but anybody could go stir crazy from being in there for too long.

"Ain't as cold as I thought it would be," Daryl commented after a few minutes. It seemed that everyday he spent with Charlotte, he was becoming a lot less like that quiet, quick tempered redneck that she met back in Atlanta.

"It's nice, actually," Charlotte replied. "I always dread the colder months…" Daryl nodded a little in agreement. "Do you remember when we first met back in Atlanta?"

"Which time ya mean?"

"I mean before we established the camp, before the city was bombed…On the highway."

Daryl thought back for a moment. It took him a little while to recollect the exact event, but he got it eventually.

"Aidan, Sweetheart, I want you to stay alert at all times," Charlotte told her youngest child. "There are a lot of people out here and things could get crazy. I don't want you, Sam, or Carl out of and of the older people's sights, okay?"

"Yes, mom," he replied from the hood of the jeep.

"That's my boy," she ruffled his hair. "I'm going to go see what I can find out from everybody else." He nodded and she went on her way. Unfortunately, she didn't get far before she found trouble.

"Man oh man," a voice with a rather thick Southern twang said as she walked by. "Daryl, ya see the—"

"Hey pervert," Charlotte snapped to the older man. He had graying hair and didn't look like he was healthy. He reminded her of some of the more rough patients she had back in King County—the ones that were in there for an over dose and were nearly dead anyway. She knew right away that he was probably on drugs, she didn't know which one or ones, but it was obvious. "I'm going to let you save your breath and tell you that I'm not interested and you better leave me the hell alone."

"Why should I do that sexy ass?"

"Because I'm sure that my cop husband wouldn't like to hear about you harassing his wife," she said. Okay, she knew that she and Shane weren't married anymore, but sometimes you had to lie to weirdoes to get them to leave you alone. There wasn't going to be any reasoning with this guy.

"Jus' leave 'er 'lone Merle, she ain't worth ya gettin' put in jail 'gain."

"Keep yer fuckin' mouth outa this, Darylina." Merle shot back.

"That'd be a pretty shitty place to be 'right 'bout now," the other man nodded as he stepped around the outside of the truck.

"The hell I tell ya? This ain't yer business, keep yer damn mouth out of this."

"No, he's right. It would suck to be in jail right now…because you would just be stuck until you starve to death, because guess what? All of the police officers have left, gone to be with their families." With that, Charlotte walked away.

"You know that's why back at camp, I was different to you than I was to Merle. I had no respect for your brother, but I knew that you weren't some creep—I know that I probably shouldn't say that because he is your brother and all but—"

"Don' worry 'bout it. He was high that whole time," Daryl replied. "'S why he was bad to everyone."

"Makes sense…I guess. I only said that I had a cop husband so that he would leave me alone…and I knew that if I asked, Shane would've made him do so."

"I know."

They were both quiet for a few moments, until Charlotte spoke about something that had been bothering her. She knew that she would have to tell him sooner or later. "Daryl, I have something important to tell you."

"What is it?" he asked in reply.

"Do y'all got any like hair scissors?" Shane asked as he walked into the kitchen where Patricia was washing dishes.

"Should be some under the sink in the bathroom," Maggie said. "The one in the hallway, that is."

"Thank you," he replied. He was planning on asking Charlotte to trim his hair that was rapidly growing more unruly. He just wanted it all out of his face. She had used to cut his hair while they were married. Neither of them trusted the people at the salon in town to cut their hair.

Shane made his way to the bathroom and bent down to look under the sink. He looked through the small tubs and found the blue handled scissors. He went to stand back up, but he found something in the trash beside him that…alarmed him. It really alarmed him actually. And he knew that only one person would know anything about it.

"Hey Glenn," Shane asked, poking his head out the backdoor to the back porch, where Glenn and Maggie were on watch.

"Yeah?" Glenn asked.

"Can you come 'ere a minute?" the older of the two asked. Glenn nodded and followed Shane back into the house. "So I uh found somethin'…Did somebody ask ya for a pregnancy test lately?" he wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't important for the wellbeing of the now pregnant woman and the rest of the group. There were very few people that it could be; Maggie, maybe Beth, or possibly…Charlotte? Lori already was pregnant and nobody else was with anybody right now.

"Uh no, not that I can think of…I think I would remember that…" Glenn replied nervously.

"Has Maggie gone on any runs with ya, lately?" he asked.

"She always goes with me…You don't think that maybe she's—"

"I don't know Glenn; I'm jus' tryin' to look for the group. I want whoever it is to be well taken care of."

"Why don't we go talk to her?" Shane nodded and the two walked out on the back porch. "Hey Maggie…did you happen to pick up a pregnancy test recently?" Glenn asked his girlfriend. Maggie hopped off the wooden railing of the porch and looked at the two men nervously.

"Not for me," she replied.

"Who for?"

"Why does it matter?"

"Because the one I found was positive, Maggie. That's why," Shane replied.

"Oh my God," she gasped, throwing her hands over her mouth in shock. "Beth…" she breathed.

"Beth?" Glenn asked. "Beth's pregnant…"

"She must be…Let me go talk to her," Maggie replied.

Charlotte expected Daryl to say something about her confession, but he didn't. He just looked away nervously. He never thought that those words would be uttered to him…He wanted to say something, but he couldn't. He was simply incapable of responding for some reason.

"Aren't you going to say something…anything?" Charlotte asked after nearly five minutes of silence. She wouldn't lie, it kind of hurt him that he wasn't talking…She had told him something big—no huge, but he said nothing. He had simply gone mute on her all of a sudden.

"I uh…Ain't it 'bout time for Carol an' Patricia to take watch?" Daryl asked. It had been dark for about an hour now, but it got dark around five o'clock now that it was winter.

Charlotte tried to mask her pain as she nodded. Daryl led the way into the house and what they found surprised them. There was a shouting match between Beth and Maggie at the top of the stairs. Charlotte sidestepped into the side of the room so that she wasn't so obvious about her at attention to the conversation between the two younger women.

"It's not mine! I told you that, Maggie, why can't you just believe that?" Beth shouted.

"Because you were the one that asked me for a Goddamn pregnancy test!" the brunette exclaimed. "Somebody here is pregnant and you're the one that asked! How can you tell me that it's not you?" Maggie asked, throwing her hands up in the air. She rarely cussed and this showed that she was far beyond pissed off.

"It's not me, I swear!" the blonde exclaimed.

"Then just tell me who it was!"

"I don't see why it matters, Maggie."

"Because it just does! Because if it's them, it's not you!" Maggie replied.

Beth ran her fingers though her hair and let out a low sigh. "I can't tell you that."

"Why the hell can't you?"

"I promised I wouldn't," she hugged herself nervously Maggie would only continue to grill Beth until she told her older sister the truth, and Beth knew that; but, she wasn't planning on breaking her promise.

"It's mine," a small voice came from the corner of the room downstairs. All eyes snapped her way and looked at the green eyed female with shock. Now the group would have to deal with two pregnant women.
