A sharp pain in the back of my head was what woke me up, yet I didn't open my eyes. For a second, I didn't remember what had happened but I knew I needed to pretend to still be unconscious. That was when it all started to quickly come back.

I couldn't tell which was worse. The pain I felt in the back of my head or the one I felt in my heart.

The absolute love of my life was…dead. My baby, my child, the only good thing in my life was hopefully out of harms reach, yet not with me anymore. So really what did I have to lose?

I opened my eyes slowly taking in as much as I could.

I was in a basement, that much I was sure of. There was a tiny window close to the ceiling and stairs opposite of the window leading up to a door that had a bulb hanging from a wire.

Slowly getting up to my feet, I walked to the window and stood on tips of my toes trying to look outside.

Even though I could barley see, I recognized where I was almost immediately.

All it took was one look at the neighbors front porch, where next to a porch swing sat a painted flower pot made by a little girl in third grade to know that we were back in the small town of Forks, Washington, back in the town where everything started. Where my mom left her baggage of a kid. Where I was abused by a horrible man that had found me once again. Where I lived my most horrible years until the day I met Edward and everything changed.

I started to hear someone begin to open the door and ran quickly back to my pile of blood and laid down pretending to still be out.

The door slowly opened and in came two sets of footsteps down the stairs until they stopped in front of me.

I whimpered and opened my eyes as the pain from being kicked on my stomach only became greater.

"You see I told you she was awake. Now get up Bella, unless you don't want to eat or use the restroom. That's perfectly fine by me shit on yourself and starve." I was sure Richard was the one who kicked me, especially considering he had a sinister look on his face while the other guy just starred at the ground.

Silently, I got up and he quickly grabbed my arm, twisting it as he got me to walk with him.

He brought me upstairs, past my old room and into the only restroom of the house.

"You've got five minutes. Try something and you'll see what will happen." Richard said as he threw me in and shut the door behind me.

I crawled towards the door and locked it behind me and stood up. I looked into the mirror and was scared by my own reflection. I looked paler than usual, especially in contrast with the dry blood that was covering my face. My hair looked even worse, and as I reached up to touch the back of my head, I felt the wound where all the blood was coming from. It would definitely need stitches but that didn't really matter now. Nothing mattered to me.

"Three minutes." A voice from the door said.

I ignored the voice just staring at my face in the mirror, watching a tear form and fall down my cheek I closed my eyes and leaned against the sink my fingers digging into the vanity.

The doorknob rattled, but I stood there frozen. They said something and shook the doorknob once again but I ignored them.

I rose a shaky hand to my face to swipe away my tears and turned towards the door, unlocking it slowly, not caring about the consequences that waited for me on the other side of it.

Edward POV

"Please Edward wake up!" A familiar voice said to me as they squeezed my hand. It took me a second to realize that it was Alice.

I opened my eyes and starred at her, still feeling groggy.

Her eyes widened and she smiled, tears running down her cheeks as more formed in her eyes.

"Edward! Oh my God, he's awake!" Alice yelled at the door. She stood up and put her arms carefully around me. I felt pain coming from the side of chest and that's when it all hit me.

"Mason is fine. He's with Jasper. Dad is on his way he'll tell you the rest. But you need to be calm if you want to get better." She said quietly as she put a hand on my forehead.

"Alice, where's Bella, is she okay?" I asked her. My voice sounded horrible, as if I needed water.

Alice noticed too and handed me a cup of ice water, probably trying to buy some time. I drank it all, feeling as if I hadn't had anything for a long while.

As I drank, Carlisle walked in, with Esme right behind him.

"I told you, I told you I should have stayed. I just knew he would wake up. Hi baby, how are you feeling?" Esme said with tears in her eyes.

"I feel fine mom. Dad, where's Bella? Is she okay? What about Mason?"

"How are you feeling Edward? I can't tell you anything if you aren't honest with me. It won't do us any good either if you aren't recovering properly. That won't help find her." He said as he looked at the monitor that was connected by wires to me, messing with it and frowning at the results.

My heart sank when he said the word "find". I knew instantly that anything he had to say about her wouldn't be good.

Closing my eyes, I answered him honestly. "I feel it, the wound. It hurts but not a lot. The pains there but its manageable. My throat hurts but I think it's because I'm thirsty. I've got a headache but that's it. I can handle it. Tell me what happened. Please Dad. Please."

He looked at me closely before taking a deep breath. "The cab driver that had dropped Bella off where you found Mason didn't feel right about leaving her at that place so he stuck around a little. He heard the gunshot and got out of the car and was able to see Mason come running out of the building and they dialed 911. He got him out of there safe and sound but by the time the cops showed up, you where only one there, bleeding and passed out"

"They also found a baseball bat…it was covered with Bella's blood but they weren't able to determine how bad the hit was. The cops assume it was just enough to only knock her out…they most likely wouldn't kill her. But that's all we have really."

"Did you check on him? On Mason?" I asked trying to not let the overwhelming pain I felt inside me devour me.

"Yes, he's okay, they didn't do anything to him. Mase was actually the one that said to me that Richard wanted him to call him grandpa. I'm guessing that him viewing Mason as his grandson was what kept him safe since he promised not to hurt him and kept it."

I stayed quiet for a few seconds taking everything in and feeling worse and worse.

"She thinks I'm dead…I'm sure of it…and her son is safe, which was all she wanted." I said looking at everyone in the room knowing they were thinking the same dreadful thoughts as me.

"She's going to give up and we are going to lose her again." I said wanting, nothing more than to be out of this bed, out of this hospital and just out there searching for her before it was too late.
